This Year 2026 is the Year of Linux, for me.
BIG Linux has eye-catching, one of the best Linux Desktops.
I do not know the names.
They are named in Brazilian but Pantheon tops the list.
Next the Modern Dedktop.
There is Vanilla and 6 dedktope altogether.
Debian GNOME should take a leaf out of BIG Linux.
Debian needs a facelift.
Instead of lumping all Desktop Types under one hood, each should have its own personality.
The underlying Linux applications can be curated as in CachyOS.
CachyOS installation on my Laptop failed thrice.
What did I do next?
I installed BIG Linux, Modern Desktop.
Just like Debian which can be installed multiple times in a single system, BIG Linux can be installed multiple times with a different Desktop.
I go for the beauty.
BlueStar Linux that showed the way.
BIG Linux has taken it a bit further.

CAT Story
I love catfish utility in Linux.
Catfish is the default file Search Engine.
It is better than Google Search Engine.
In my Debian GNOME, it is the third icon behind USB Formatter and USB Writer.
My cat story is about real cats.
Before, that why Linux Developer guys love cats?
Can anyone answer that for me.
Cat is the second Unix command I learned, after Ping.
But the ifconfig etho was my workhouse when CEYLON Internet was primitive.
When we were connected to the internet with a Modems, things were lazy.
We had to give a call and reserve a line.
I hated it.
I went to Singapore and bought a Router with many Ethernet Connections, so that I could connect each level of our house to Internet.
Our house was tiny but we made it good by having 7 levels.
Level 7 was the roof top garden.
Beautiful View of the Peradeniya University.
I was at level 6.
Level 5 very narrow with steps.
My wife and daughter at level 4.
Dining room was at level 3.
My son was at level 2.
Level 1 was for unauthorized visitors including beggers.
Our house was open to everybody being a doctor myself but our mother in law was the one who had the vital connections to all and sundry.
She is no more.
After JVP/NPP came into existence we erected a gate and a padlock to lock unintended JVP visitors.
It became two locks for the domestic aid and the gardener with duplicate keys.
I did not have to go and lock the gate.
Our domestic aid is no more.
She died due to short Supply of Medicine in hospitals under NPP.
Our gardner was living on medicine and no news about him. He was one of our University gardeners.
He must be spending his paltry pension for his medicines, if he is still alive.
Before, I joined the University it was a pensionable service.
It became the Provident Fund.
I had a fairly good base and collected every penny but after a long delay.
If it was a pension, now I am in Australia, I would not be able collect any dues.
බහිරවයාට මගේ පෙන්ෂන් ඒක පුදන්න තමා වෙන්නේ.
I have to submit a written document, to say I am alive before getting the pension of the last month.
Continuing on the Cat Story.
Cat stands for concatenate in Linux.
I hate cats.
One of them jumped on my little squirrel.
I could not rescue it.
Got hold of her tail and thrash her until my anger dessipated and the squirrel was released but dead due to asphyxia.
Six weeks later I handed over the cat to one of my distant aunts who was as black as the cat herself.
In my late years we had a Ginger Cat and Black (Bunty) Cat.
Both of them died tragically.
Black Cat was caught by the municipality guy to feed the masses who come to Kandy during Esala Perahara.
Cat and Dog flesh are substitutes for chicken.
I stop eating chicken on this ground alone.
So rear your own roosters.
