Only
Silver Lining-The Weekly Paper Aniddha or Tomorrow
Only
Silver lining in the political arena is the emergence of the weekly
Sinhala Paper-Aniddha.
or
“Tomorrow”.
Thanks
to Victor Ivan for not giving these writers who started
Aniddha-proper place or space in Ravaya weekly.
Ravaya
started with lot of potential and Ma Ra Regime tried to buy (in other
words to shut it) it through Milinda Moragoda.
Ravaya
was not running at break even point economically, then.
People
who were starved of alternative political views got together to help
(on Ravaya's request) it by contributing money.
It
survived but Victor for some hegemonic reasons did not look after the
views of the younger generation and many felt fault with Victor and gave
up journalism, temporarily.
There
was no freedom of expression or rather frustration at Ravaya
(editorial level sanctions and more concerned with business
model)
These
journalists have emerged with a weekly paper called Aniddha.
It
is now outperforming Ravaya politically and my belief is, it is selling
better than Ravaya.
“Good
on them” and I hope Aniddha will look after its economic aspects
(it is not an easy task) well until the next round of elections.
We
need few balanced journalists (not political stooges) to charter the
ordinary public (Sinhala and Tamil especially) through the troubled
waters.
Already
divisive and racist forces are blazing for the next round (to hoodwink
the masses).
Beware!
Read Aniddha and help it (I have no connection with it and still keeping my fiercely independent views on "World Politics".
Freedom Expression is the Driving Force.
I have inadvertently given some prominence to Ravaya.
Please excuse me, the Aniddha loyalists.
