Orchids and My Friend

I hope I will keep my interest on Orchids to old age.

One of my young (he was older) friends who could not go above grade 10 in Education could keep an orchid my father gave him for over 60 years.

My father taught him how to care for it.

It is called the Wesak Orchid.

He is almost blind and when I visited him with a little gift, I collected few of the saplings (is it the correct word) or buds for our rooftop garden.

They are growing nicely.

My friend was an expert on making kites.

I leaned how to make a kite and balance it (it is a science) aerodynamically.

He did not understand the physics (which I could) of it and I graduated to become a scientific thinker (prefer to become a scientific philosopher) but he remained a faithful environmentalist.

I think we need lot of his kind of dedication  and less of my kind probing.

The Origin of Sri-Lanka and the Original Lie

Mind you, I have too books on Ceylon, one one Rivers and water falls and my own theory how Ceylon (scientific analysis not historical) originated, at Amazon Books.

They are priced high.

I prefer Ceylon to Sri-Lanka, especially to promote Ceylon Tea.

Besides my degree is ????? (Ceylon) not Siri Lanka

The Origin of Sri-Lanka and the Original Lie

If I ask the question which came first “Original Lie or the Existence of Sri-Lanka”, it is like which came first the egg or the hen scenario with philosophical dimension come into play and muddy the context.

In any case lie is a perfect institution and in unison with world politics now.

Sri-Lanka is also in existence according to Commonwealth Conference except according to Canadian interpretation, basically Canadian lies,      it belonged to

I have no intention of solving or countering Canadian lies.

Canadian lie on behalf of terrorists and Canada collect their ill gotten black money, basically from DRUGS.

If one applies for Canadian citizenship, one must prove that one is a hard core terrorist.

Instead, I decided to find how Sri-Lanka was formed according to geographical or geological data.

Inadvertently, I found answers to both the queries raised.

I looked at few of my sisters geography books and I dedicate this piece to her who is no more, for leaving  a few of her books used in the University for me to casually browse.

The books are about 50 years old and both Adam’s interpretation and Wadia’s counter interpretation were not to my liking.

Both were on similar grounds and they differed in which came first and which came last.

In other words Adam’s first were Wadia’s last in historical terms.

Thoroughly dissatisfied, I retired and in my sleep, I saw a dream which the King Chethiya had dreamed.

I will put it in summary form.

One day in his daily routines King Chethiya asked his royal advisers, the question how Sri-Lanka was formed.

1. First Adviser

He told the king that Sri-Lanka was formed from a sandal worn by an angel who was eloping with another angel to another heavenly body.

In the rush the sandal/shoe fell down to the ocean and from it Sri-Lanka came into being.

King asked how the hills were formed and he promptly replied that it was a high heel shoe and when it fell it fell upside down with the high heel on top.

King then asked the second adviser

2. Second Adviser

The second adviser said that it was not due to a shoe but from a fallen crown that Sri-Lanka originated.

He went into say that the said angel had a duel with another angel before eloping.

They were fighting mounted on lions and while fighting the crown fell down and it was stained with lions blood and he fled with the angel abandoning the fight and the crown he was wearing.

Sinha-Le is in fact is Lion’s Blood and that is how the island was named.

3. Third Adviser

It was the turn of the third adviser to describe how Sri-Lanka was formed.

The third adviser felt it was difficult to beat the second tenet and after a pause said that both theories were wrong.

He said that about 5000 years ago there were two kings called Rama in North India and a Ravana in South India/Sri-Lanka.

Ravana went on a holiday and found Sita in North India and abducted her.

According to that theory Sri-Lanka was part of India to begin with and to avoid war and capture Ravana requested divine intervention and the acting head of heaven at that time broke part of India and made Sri-Lanka a safe haven for Rawana and all future smugglers to current day.

King Chethiya was not impressed.

He ordered beheading of all three in a weeks time and went to sleep.

All the other advisers fled.

He had a dream.

In his dream he saw Hanuman making a bridge across the Palk Straight.

The idea was to capture both Sita and Ravana.

He also saw the tail of the Hunuman had fire that engulfed his advancing path.

Unfortunately, King Chethiya woke up due to the intense heat generated in his dream.

When woken he saw all his advisers disappeared except the three who were chained.

He elaborated his dream to his terrified victims/advisers.

He asked them why did you lie?

They said to be a good king one has to be an expert in lying to his subjects and media men/women.

All the stories about all the previous kings were lies but recorded as true.

That is how one survive as a King and there is no alternative.

This is similar to the book, The Prince.

The God story was created to please the subjects and not kings.

The advisers told that lies were 10,000 years old and Sri-Lanka is only 5000 years old.

King Chethiya who hated lies up to that point of time adopted the new theory at lib.

So I got answers to both queries in one dream (not mine but King Chethiya’s).

Sri-Lankan lies are 10,000 old and Sri-Lanka is only 5000 years old.

We created lies without any racial or religious barriers and that is why we want the Commonwealth to adopt a similar strategy.

So, if any one of the foreign delegates ask the above questions in the conference from  Sri-Lankan civil servant/s or presidential adviser/s, expect a plethora of lies and damn lies.

I was advised by my friends not to send this dream for interpretation by Maha Brahma which is my usual practice.

In actual fact, Kings dreams are not eligible for Maha’s interpretation as long as there are presidential advisers both active or aspiring to be.

Sri Lankan Police How They Treat Journalists?

Sri Lankan police arrest, beat journalist Tharindu Uduwaragedara

The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) promotes press freedom worldwide.

CPJ defends the right of journalists to report the news safely and without fear of reprisal.

This guy is contesting Elections and I believe he should be in the parliament, for the sake of Independent Media in Ceylon.

I do not agree with most of his political ideas.

I am posting this piece because a guy made an adverse comment on his physical appearance under his YouTube presentation.

That guy who made the comment, I think who could not read in English should try to read this piece for his own personal information.

I am going to remove this pieces, the day after the election, let me say Day After Roswell.

I do not know him except that I knew him as a writer in the Ravaya Paper under Victor Ivan.

I stop reading Victor and Ravaya is no more.

I occasionally read Aniddha Paper, especially Jayadeva Uyangoda piece (who we used to call him as Jamis Aiyah

I think he was parallel Arts student in my time but I did not know him in the university.

He his an astute political analyst much better than Niormal Devasiri

Niomal tends to confuse us and his (Niomal's) YouTube comments are boring.

Sri Lankan police arrest, beat journalist Tharindu Uduwaragedara

New York, July 28, 2023

Sri Lankan authorities should immediately and unconditionally release journalist Tharindu Uduwaragedara and investigate allegations that he was beaten by police, the Committee to Protect Journalists said Friday.

At around 3 p.m. on Friday, July 28, police arrested Uduwaragedara after he covered a trade union protest in Borella, a suburb of the capital Colombo, according to Journalist for Democracy, a rights group operating from exile, and Jayantha Dehiaththage, the journalist’s lawyer, who spoke with CPJ by phone..

Officers pulled Uduwaragedara out of a rickshaw while he was leaving the protest and forced him into a police vehicle while he repeatedly identified himself as a journalist, according to Dehiaththage and video of the incident posted to Twitter.

Two officers beat Uduwaragedara while en route to the Borella Police Station, where he remained detained without charge or access to medical treatment for a head injury as of Friday evening, Dehiaththage said.

“The arrest and police beating of Sri Lankan journalist Tharindu Uduwaragedara are appalling, and authorities must immediately release him and provide him with access to medical care,” said Beh Lih Yi, CPJ’s Asia program coordinator. “Authorities must hold the perpetrators of this attack accountable and ensure that journalists can cover protests without fear of reprisal.”

Uduwaragedara operates the political affairs YouTube channelSatahan Radio which has over 170,000 subscribers.

He is due to appear before a Colombo magistrate on Saturday, Dehiaththage told CPJ, saying that authorities had not disclosed any specific allegations against the journalist.

Police used water cannons and tear gas to disperse the protest, where demonstrators had gathered to oppose the slashing of pension funds amid a severe economic crisis.

CPJ called police spokesperson Nihal Thalduwa and contacted him via messaging app for comment, but did not receive any replies.
