My
Masterly Inactivity and Mini Water Garden Concept was total failure.
My
favorite plant Vallisneria took total control of the fish tank and
there was no breathing or swimming space for the little guppy fish or
other water plants.
Fortuitously
though, a few golden yellow Guppy mutants emerged out of the blue.
With
perseverance, I managed to raise about 20 beautiful ones.
I
went into active participation or total interference with mother nature.
Uprooted large bucket full of Vallisneria and replaced it with a
carefully controlled pot of Vallisneria rared in open air.
Well
I was anticipating the take over strategy of Vallisneria.
It
is hard to find water plants and Japanese fern. Vallisneria and
Hydrilla are few of my favorites out of the 22 odd water plants I
collected over 15 years.
They
will perish within a month of my demise since nobody wants touch the dirty
buckets with Guppy fish and water plants.
Lately
my interest is water lilies and there are at least five varieties to
greet me with flowers.
I
added two more varieties.
One
bloomed after 2 years.
It is very difficult to grow water lilies and a
visitor pinches a leaf it goes into hibernation for one to two years.
Except
one, I took all of them to the roof top garden and with the little
rain and my care (means masterly inactivity), they are surviving for the last five years.
The
one with yellow flowers never bloomed.
That
was the first one and I am beginning to ignore it expecting it to
surprise me one day.
Mind
you Guppy fish (it was when I was a kid) was not my current interest
except for controlling mosquitoes but they keep on luring me with
beautiful colours.
