Elive Linux Update

Elive Linux Update

For my like I had the Iso installed in a USB with a Persistent Volume. I did not have to configure the Wifi. Of course they have my Email.

I accidentally erased the Elive Installation with Manjaro KDE installation. Last time I accepted its configuration and it did not use a boot partition, for my liking.
This time time round I decided to do it my own way.
It is suggesting Encryption but I would not.
It gives instruction in text mode.
I think they may be even giving verbal instruction which I hate.
This time round I am going to get is right.
I do noy like me being treated like an amateur.

Why I Avoid Using KDE Dektop

Why I Avoid Using KDE Dektop

This is going to be a chapter in my book "Linux Essentials" which I never intended to be..

Yes, I did almost 6 months of investigation
It was not a casual impression, while running Netrunner intermittantly

This include running Debian Edition of KDE and Netrunner.
Debian KDE Edition was a disaster and I could not integrate Gnome Applications, I need mentioned below

Let me dispose Netrunner.
I use it because of two reasons.
It has Synaptic Package Manager which I use to install
AbiWord
Notepadqq
Stacer
Revolt
Other reason is that being it has changed the KDE Desktop outlook completely.
It has arranged all the applications in an alphabetical order.

Coming back to KDE it was built on top of Gnome and over time it has moved away from Gnome whereas, MATE and Cinnamon Desktops kept their links viable and stable.
KDE also kept adding lot of redundant application which even children want play. It takes a long time for me to remove application one by one to minimize the clutter in Gnome Desktop.

I have,
GIMP
VLC
Audacity
Shotwell
Cheese
Caffeine
On top of Gnome and I do not need anything else.

Scribus
Blender
Inkscape

Those are productive applications none of them is included in KDE.

Two most important facts are in addition to the bulk, it takes memory space and in this process its efficiency falls down drastically
These window dressings, I have compared to an uppish lady wearing a glamours "sari" and adding to the sink a lot of junk while not contributing anything to the party.

KDE does not have an operating systems to make it visible.
It does not have core applications under its belt.
If some body infatuated by KDE desktop, I have some advice.

Use an Arch derivative like Endeavour OS which is beautiful but very restrictive in the applications one can have.
The better solution is try Netrunner OS.
Rest I tried including Neptune OS have nothing more to offer.

This is true of Chimera Plasma desktop, too.

I am currently downloading Manjaro KDE and report on it later. My impression is Manjaro KDE is much better with all the instructions and Gparted included for partitioning.
Wifi Configuration is smooth.
Except Firefox, VLC,Elisa and Spectacle, nothing included.
No office to begin with.
No clutter.
Synaptic Package Manager is not there but AbiWord, Dillo and Falkon available.
Firefox would be removed on installation.

Installer is Calamara Installer  and having done few installations on Calamara several times, I am beginning to master it.
However, I miss Debian's graphic installer (I started with Debian's Text Installer) and Synaptic Package Manager.
Manjaro has its own package manager, PacMan but it supports Flatpak (one may need a few additions from the likes of Angle browser and Pluma.
I realize Pluma comes from MATE.

Installation is quick but only delay is recolonizing five instances of Linux distributions in 320GB hard disk on 26 partitions excluding Efi partitions.
I can now say, I begin to master ARCH derivatives which are dedicated for specific purpose and some for KDE.

Manjaro has three dedicated  and a few community forks for experts.
Gnome
KDE
SWAY with Wayland Compositor.
I tried it on a Live USB and I did not like its window managing skills.
I wanted to see i3 effects but could not.
OK installation and the running commentary is over.
