Bodhi Linux Overview

Bodhi is Single User and woks on root level and that is not to my liking.
I always have a not privileged user account.
It lets one remove Firefox and install Vivaldi, Opera and Brave.
How ever without installing Firefox on cannot install waterfox.
In any case to promote Enlightenment Desktop I keep it in my NUC system as a minimal desktop environment. However, one can install Enlightenment desktop on top of Gnome but I prefer the Modern, Elive desktop with fantastic desktop effects.
Importantly no LibreOffice and got AbiWord installed.

I have not tried Bodhi Linux after 32 bit days.
Modern version 7.00 is fantastic with minimal applications.
It is based on Ubuntu and has Synaptic Package manager.
Yes I have to install it my NUC.

It Froze and could not mount my 26 Ext partitions.
Tries it again and waited patiently and it mounted the hard disk.
It is in final stage of installation and I love the OLD UBUNTU installation which I have gone through 100 of times.

Well I got to distribution with Enlightenment desktop Installed, now.

If one is a Buddhist this is the Linux distribution one should try.
I think Buddhist monks would love this Mokha Desktop.

Took about 600MB of my 8GB RAM but 1GB with fire fox.
591MB of my hard disk.

However the installation was SLOW.

YES it stands up to its claim of light weight and energy saving and not resource hungry.

Bodhi Linux Overview

A minimalist, enlightened Linux distribution

Bodhi is a minimalistic, enlightened, Linux desktop.

Bodhi Linux is extremely lightweight and highly customizable.
Bodhi is suitable for both Linux newcomers and experienced users.
The Ubuntu LTS assures stability for years and the Bodhi Team is very open to all suggestions and requests from users and willing to help.

Rescuezilla

Rescuezilla

Rescuezilla is a specialist Ubuntu-based distribution designed for system rescue tasks, including backups and system restoration.
The project's latest release, version 2.6, updates the base Ubuntu operating system, offers a fix for booting on machines with Windows 11, and updates the partition management tools.
"Updated the UEFI Secure Boot shim package to v1.58 after a Windows 11 update revoked older shims by incrementing the minimum "SBAT generation".

This fixes any 'SBAT self-check failed' errors to ensure Rescuezilla continues boot on UEFI Secure Boot enabled systems which require the latest 'SBAT generation'.
This also fixes the 'revoked UEFI bootloader' message warning when creating a bootable USB stick using Rufus
Replaced Ubuntu 23.10 (Mantic) and Ubuntu 22.10 (Lunar) builds with build based on Ubuntu 24.10 (Oracular) for best support of new hardware.

Temporarily does not include Mozilla Firefox on Oracular release until switched to new source.
Image Explorer (beta) temporarily out-of-service across variants.
Fixed querying drives with the Bionic 32-bit version, which broke since Rescuezilla v2.5 due to using the --merge feature introduced in util-linux v2.34."

Further details are provided in the release notes.

Elive Linux Desktop is Amazing

Yes Installation was a grand success.
Thank YOU Elive.

Like Manjaro, Elive Linux needs your help.
I am currently installing the FREE Copy of Elive 3.8 and its desktop effects a AMAZING.
Yes it is the most beautiful desktop of all.
  Elive-Old piece
Elive Enlightenment gets over 1000 points well above the 750 points for a Live CD.
I downloaded the unstable image from distromania (nobody can say I am a lifetime member of the band of distro=maniacs).

I have given extra 100 points for its commercial venture which is a new addition to my criteria list.

Linux guys and girls also live on rice and curry or fish and chips
.

They also need to take home something for their efforts and sweat.

I recommend you go and buy the CD instead of going to distromania.

The buy is probably worth than the other fat commercial versions.

Mind you distromania is a very good repository for old and new distributions.
I think distromania site is defunct now but Linux Freedom is active.

Please feel free to visit them and register.

New Edition
It did not upset Plymooth Boot Loader of Manjao nor upset the GRUB Boot loader which Legacy Linux destroyed 3 months ago. Unlike LegacyOS Elive makes a persistent image in the USB, too.

In my Debian Gnome, I have Enlightenment Desktop as an option at boot up.
Now i can take break from Installation rigmarole and finish my boo on Linux Essential. This blog piece would be edited to suit the book content.

It is called Enlightenment Desktop of Elive.

I have used it this during 32 bit time but it went into hibernation for long period. I manged to get a copy about 3 years ago in Ceylon but could not install it in combination with Debian derivatives. I left all my Old USB sticks and CDs in Ceylon to avoid surcharge at the Airport. I had a lay off and enjoyed the tropical sunshine of Queensland but the torrential rainfall made me to Revisit Elive.
It is in my NUC system.
It picked my old partition system except the small boot partition of 954MB. One 1GB is the minimum except for the EFI partition.
I am not sure it picked up my EFI, If not I would reinstall it.
There going to be  special Chapter on Elive in my new book "Linux Essentials".
My only grouse is the Windows were fixed in SIZE and resizing them was impossible in Live MOD but however the Monitor is large enough to accommodate many windows. However, during installation this function was activated transiently.
Terminal was small and black and I could not resize to read the contents.
I have had enough RAM Free.

Beside, I could not catch a screenshot while Installing.

Enlightenment is an eye-candy, compositing and stacking window manager that is released under the permissive BSD License. It was first released in 1997 by Carsten Haitzler (Rasterman) and this original release was dubbed Enlightenment DR16 (or E16 for short). In 2012 a new version of Enlightenment was released, which was called Enlightenment DR17 (or E17). Since then many further major releases of Enlightenment have been made, from E18 to E24.

There has been some confusion over Enlightenment versions. E16, despite being an older release of Enlightenment, has its releases numbered 1.x, while the later releases of Enlightenment (E17-E23) all have decimal release numbers. E17 is numbered 0.17.x, E18 is numbered 0.18.x, E19 is numbered 0.19.x while E20 is numbered 0.20.x and so on. Consequently, it is advised that users are careful as to which version of Enlightenment they are installing. While the version numbers reflect actual versions of the upstream tar archives, they can be confusing.

The Enlightenment desktop holds a special place in my heart. You see, back in my earlier days of starting out with Linux,
Enlightenment was the window manager, compositor, and minimal desktop that helped me to transition from AfterStep into a more modern world of the open-source operating system.
Although I truly enjoyed my time with AfterStep, it became clear it wasn't going to stand the test of time.

Ergo…Enlightenment.

Enlightenment was a minimal desktop that offered maximum configurations and was lightweight enough that even slower machines seemed far faster than they really were.

Also: The best Linux distros for beginners

Sadly, over time, fewer and fewer Linux distributions offered Enlightenment as an option and even installing the desktop could get a bit tricky. There have been some distributions that clung to the idea of Enlightenment; for example, Bodhi Linux's Moksha desktop is based on Enlightenment.
