Neon OS

 Neon OS

Sleek and attractive KDE Plasma desktop.

My advice is do not go by the attractive front end but look at the back end with plenty of utilities.

Looks are deceptive to say the least.

KDE does not have a repository it is only a desktop not a real distribution.

It does not have even a utility to format a USB let alone a hard disk.

Go and install Debian Gnome and then on top of that one can install any type of desktop (from minimal Flushbox to KDE) and boot them at log in time.

That is my ultimate advice.

NixOS

 NixOS

NixOS is bare bone OS.

Wants you to install but I say NO.

Does not talk about its repositry.

I say try MadrivaLx.

Plamo Linux

 Plamo Linux

Plamo in Japanese is short form for plastics.

This distribution in Japanese with sparing English and often mistakes in spelling.

I think Japanese DO NOT work on Terminals and they would certainly would make many mistakes in coding.

I could not boot into a Graphic mode after few minutes of trying and gave it up.

I have worked with JICA Guys and Girls and I had good and bad interactions, as regard to computer work and SPSS package in particular.

They left us after 7 years and no contact at all.

Dr. Handa was my friend and he is in Africa looking after deprived children not computers.

He looks old and professorial now.

Nomad BSD

 Nomad BSD

Its Iso is is in a compressed format and I could not decompress it having copied it to a USB stick.

It almost destroyed my USB stick but and with patience, I recovered my USB without any damage.

I do not use any image bigger than 4.5GB now.

OpenMandrivaLx

Disregard my old comments about OpenMandriva

OpenMandrivaLx

Mandrake was my heart throb but it had to be discontinued due to legal wrangle with its name. I could never lay my hands on its "Globe Trotter" utility.

Of course OpenMadriva kept the Mandrake, Mandriva tradition alive.

I only tested Gnome and is pretty good.

It has the Gnome base and WiFi configuration is smooth.

It has a Live DVD now which I did not in the past.

It has Gparted for partitioning.

Its Installer is distribution independent Calamara installer which I do not like (heavy).

It has no  Synaptic package manager and on that groung i won't use it.

It has its own repository which lacks lot of good things in Linux and Gnome.

Its supports bulky SNAP.

Linux MultiSystem USB Utility

Linux MultiSystem USB Utility

First of all this utility has no relationship tot the Ubuntu based MultiSystem that come from France. Unlike the Ubuntu utility that mounts from DVD, this Debian based utility lets one to mount several sfs files and boot them as and when necessry.

I have mounted about 10 Puppy Linux derivatives only five of them are 64 bit, so that I can run in my NUC.

Apart from Puppy Linux, I have installed 4M Linux and Chimera OS, which is Gamer Linux.
