Linux
Update-2019
I
was getting bored and lazy.
I
decided to put all my working Linux Utilities in one place.
Namely
portable USB and on an external drive one terabytes.
I
tried Multisystem Booting DVD to create a USB (a little over 60 GiB).
MultiSystem
Booting that comes from France is an amazingly good booting utility.
Make
sure you boot it in English.
Guess
the first few distributions.
1.
Multi-System DVD
2.
Peppermint
3.
PinguyOs
4.
AntiX
5.
Ubuntu
6.
Debian Gnome/Xfc
7.
Elementary OS
8.
AVLinux
Even
though Arch (Manjaro) is pretty good, I do not use it, simply because
of its rigidity in installation.
Debian
came first with all the desktops in one place.
Over
2930 utilities, it takes hours to install while even not connected to
the Internet.
But ones up (it has a very good Grub2 boot loader which
detects all the other distributions) it has everything one needs
except Abiword my favorite and Unetbootin (mind you Unetbootin is a
systeminux utility and won’t boot in 64 bit computers) an old USB
utility.
I
have almost given up using Peppermint because it is bulky to boot
with a dark desktop (word processing is extremely cumbersome).
It
also cannot boot in Unetbootin.
PinguyOs
is based on Ubuntu and has a beautiful desktop unlike Ubuntu but
Unetbootin froze with a graphic face, without menus.
I
wanted find the problem with Unetbootin and finally I found a working
Unetbootin in AvLinux (heavy with utilities one needs at least 4 GiB
Ram).
Mind
you Debian does not let MultiSystem to form xfs file.
I
finally got Debian’s Gnome and Xfc4 booted in a USB Stick and it
uses SystemLinux to boot which does work only with 32 bit computers.
The
problem is with its boot loader.
But
the best out of the lot is Elementary Linux.
One
must boot it with its DVD (not from MultiSystem) and has enormous
amount of utilities in addition to paid services.
I got Abiword but
no Unetbootin.
Good Bye to Unetbootin until it has a 64 bit version.
