Reminder of Food Values in Ceylon in the Past

If I remember right these values were registered during Internal War but without war the prices are exorbitant.

Sri-Lankan Food Stuff, the Visitors can be proud of

Average Sri-Lankan loves good food.
I am one of them.
With the Commonwealth Conference due in November, I want the visitors to taste our food and enjoy our culinary delights.
There are many, I know few of you will come back to enjoy the food in yearly basis.
I pity the Canadians did not come.
They lost  a big trick and our culinary delights.
They can remain in Canada and continue to eat Junk Food
.

I will high light the ones below Rs.100/=
If you raise that to Rs.1000/= the delight will spiral up like a rocket.
What I am saying is one need not waste on a buffet inside a hotel.
Come out and enjoy.

Under Rs.100/=
1. Top place goes to Ice Tea which is Rs.45/= a small cartoon.
This is a product I said can beat Coca Cola by a mile several years ago.
They have proved it beyond any doubt.
Name is Hela Div
I love the Green Tea and the Peach Flavour.

2. Liquor Filled Chocolates
All less than Rs.100/=
They are the tastiest for the the price.
They are from Ceylon Biscuits Manufacturers
.

3. Banana Cakes
This is an upcoming item that I promote and is proud of.
They have not mastered it yet.
That is how to preserve the taste and flavour of the banana.
We have many varieties and flavours of banana.
This is something the Canadians going to miss.
We will post you the left overs soon.
I am discussing with our local bakers in Kandy to make a banana bread in time for the conference.
I hope at least one hotel in Colombo perfect the Banana Loaf (Bread) within the next month if they see this blog post.
The price varies from Rs.300 to Rs.85/=.

Facts one should know.
1. Poverty Line is Rs100/= a day.
2. Minimum Salary is Rs.200/= a day (Twice the Poverty Line)
3. At least once in three years the Labour Department should gazette this minimum pay.
4. It was not gazetted for over 10 years.
5. They are bypassing this requirement by giving an allowance and that is also once in 10 years.
One can understand my rationale for using under Rs.100/=.
If one eats a quality food portion a day one has to starve for the rest of the day.
The other option is to eat junk foods and we a nation eating junk foods and once a year we enjoy the delicacies.

What you eat in hotels are beyond the periscope of the poor citizen.
