Intel's NUC box has a New BIOS that lets the system either boot Linux or Windows.
There is no need for EFI partition the boot medium.
NUC set itself in BIOS mode.
If lets you boot not from the chip set SATA but from an external disk attached.
However it does not let you install the distribution from a USB stick.
I just installed Debian 15 series using my PC with no FAT or EFI partition.
It's first partition is EXT4 with root.
It won't boot from my PC but it booted from the NUC.
This is my first time booting a Linux distribution by itself without being subservient to Microsoft.
Of course it was SparkyLinux showed me it can be done.
I need not tax the motherboard but let the external disk look after itself.
Noiseless booting without fan is my liking.
