Theravada (Hinayana) and Mahayana

Theravada (Hinayana)  and Mahayana

This is an attempt to guide the misguided guys and girl by the YouTube Dramas.

Buddha strongly discouraged logic except the qualifications in  Kalama Sutta.

Yana literally means a vehicle (path) that one takes to exit from the Sea of Sansara.

Let me give my own example as an adult university teacher who is inactive for the last 25 yeas.
I still prefer to learn rather than teach but when I see guys and girls mislead knowingly or unknowingly, I make little blog pieces here for visitors of my site to browse and ponder.

Nothing dogmatic.

Dhamma is based on Truth Principle.

Let me say  truth is hidden in the center of a perfect sphere.
Mahayana is at the periphery of the sphere (apple) in this search for Truth Principle.

Theravada is more closer to the center but not yet in the center.

Even the Theravada Way Finder has to understand the true meaning of Dhamma with his or her own strenuous attempt.

It cannot be achieved in a single cycle of a human being.

On his or her way one finds,
Sovan
Sukardagami
Anagami  and in Center Point is the Arhant State.

I prefer to take the shorter path of Theravada than Mahayana.

I am nowhere near Sovan but I am already on the path to Sovan.

I have a caveat here
It is related to Kalyana Mitta Principle

I have met a lot of friends (Kalyana Mitta) and I need to gather them around me on the path.
Mind you that includes my dog friends and elephant friends.
I do not know about elephants but I believe dogs reach heaven easily.
If any of my elephant friends is advancing to heaven, I would certainly hang on to its tail tightly.

So I am not in a hurry to attain Sovan.

Knowing a lot especially if it is redundant knowledge is a hindrance to wisdom

The wisdom is in the center.

So do not waste time on Mahayana.

Even Mahayana guy or girl can reach the Wisdom Point if he or she discards the unnecessary baggage that comes with Mahayana.

One can substitute the sphere to an apple.
One consumes the apple from the periphery and reach the four seeds of divine abode at the center.

The Ten Precepts-Dasa Sila

Dasa Sila (The Ten Precepts)

 1. The training rule of abstaining from taking life.

2. The training rule of abstaining from taking what is not given.

3. The training rule of abstaining from sexual misconduct.

4. The training rule of abstaining from false speech

5. The training rule of abstaining from fermented and distilled intoxicants which are the basis for heedlessness.

These five precepts are the minimal ethical code binding on the Buddhist laity

They are administered regularly by the monks to the lay disciples at almost every service and ceremony, following immediately upon taking the the three refuges.

They are also undertaken afresh each day by earnest lay Buddhists as part of their daily recitation.

6. Vikalabhojana veramani sikkhapadam samadiyami, "I undertake the training rule to abstain from eating beyond the time limit," i.e., from mid-day to the following dawn.

7. Nacca gita vadita visukhadassana-mala gandha vilepana dharanamandana vibhusanatthana veramani sikkhapadam samamadiyami, "I undertake the training rule to abstain from dancing, singing, instrumental music, unsuitable shows, and from wearing garlands, using scents, and beautifying the body with cosmetics."

8. Uccasayana mahasayana veramani sikkhapadam samadiyami, "I undertake the training rule to abstain from high and luxurious beds and seats."

There are two ways in which these precepts are observed — permanently and temporarily

Permanent observance, far the less common of the two, is undertaken generally by older people who, having completed their family duties, wish to deepen their spiritual development by devoting the later years of their life to intensified spiritual practice.

Even then it is not very widespread

Temporary observance is usually undertaken by lay people either on Uposatha days or on occasions of a meditation retreat
Uposatha days are the new moon and full moon days of the lunar month, which are set aside for special religious observances, a custom absorbed into Buddhism from ancient Indian custom going back even into the pre-Buddhistic period of Indian history

On these days lay people in Buddhist countries often take the eight precepts, especially when they go to spend the Uposatha at a temple or monastery.
On these occasions the undertaking of the eight precepts lasts for a day and a night.

Then, secondly, on occasions of retreat lay people take the eight precepts for the duration of their retreat, which might last anywhere from several days to several months.

Double Pocket, Double Standards and Double Tounge=JVP/NPP

Yes, NPP is well known for it's Lies.

It is now called the Double Tounge Politics.

They are secretly preparing to Enhance Diasphora claims.
Divide the country into three pieces based on race, religion and reagion.

Punish Mahinda and Rajapaksa extrajudicially.

Beware.

Last resort is to change the constitution.
They want to take away the special status for Buddhism.
Theme is Niragamika but Cardinal Cooray and Catholics have special action plan.

Remeber it has to be confirmed by a referendum.

Anura a is the only guy in Ceylon Politics who could not muster 50% of the vote.
He should be declared as the Minority President.
He only got 43%.

Majority Government is charge of Tilwin.

Tilwin is in charge of the Parliament Members.

However it is a "Dummy parliament".
The MPs do not have independent voice.
They are mouth pieces of Tilwin who is not even in the parliament.

SJB and UNP got 57%.
51% elegible voters DID not VOTE.

This is a biggest aberration of our DEMOCRACY.

MINORITY rules and MAJORITY is DUMB and DEAF.

This is the JOKE of our politics.

We have to go through this anomaly for another five years.

I do not recommend Colour Revolution.
We must let people to experience their impotence by allowing them to govern for the full duration of five years.

Opposition should build up resources but should be mindful not to do things before the correct time.

Patience pays dividends.
Impatience is disruptive.

Ousting them can be automatic when the time is ripe.

We must sent them back to 3%.

Offensive (Medical) Marketing

Offensive (Medical) Marketing

This word the parafox that I coined in place of paradox to bypass a system that was eavesdropping on my web writing of different nature but in fact, factual in nature, on a Live CD so that I could not be traced or detected by the owl eyes.

It has already outlasted its original intention.

It has got a Linux tag now and if you type Linux and Parafox you are immediately directed to my writing on Live CDs.

The original meaning I intended is somewhat like outfoxing (is human in nature) the foxes but running parallel (is scientific in nature) and close to the foxes.

Now it is the name for my blog spot at Google's.

If Google can coin a word so do I in the Internet.

Since it has outlasted its true nature (if you read the original entries in this blog spot you get the picture clear) I want this word to be designated an entry into the Oxford Dictionary of new words.

If they do not then the Cambridge University should consider it in retrospect for future use.

I have also coined a another Concept.

It is called Offensive Medicine.

It is related to the dengue epidemic in Ceylon.

The inactive Health Personnel in this country put the onus and the blame on the people and sham away from the government's responsibility in controlling it.

They sometimes punish the citizens and it may end up one day killing all the dengue patients to arrest the disease transmission.

There are many adopted war heroes who are jobless now who can enact this.

The way the things are managed in this country even the WHO will agree on this measure.

This is all because the treatment is free if one enters a government hospital.

Having said that once upon a time when I was in the private sector I confirmed a case of dengue for a test costing about 50 rupees a person (on a child).

Two weeks later when I looked at the payments received (the institution has to pay this guy) by a particular doctor (he had put three to four entries per day including telephone calls) the charges were many thousand multiples of Rs. 50/=.

He actually did not physically visit the young child.

Soon after, I left the institute since I could not do anything to prevent this scenario occurring again.

It is practiced to this day not only in that institution but elsewhere, too.

There are no checks and balances!

To put this concept in another situation is appropriate to illustrate its spread.
Government dishes out free books but does not do anything to improve the standard of teaching and teacher training.

If the student fails it is the failure of the student but not the system.

I hope the you got the picture of Offensive Medicine, right.

Today I am going to introduce another concept.

It is called, Offensive Marketing.

This concept is similar to Offensive Medicine Concept where the onus is on the patient or the poor citizen.

This is applied to the Free Software and Free Linux distributions.
Somewhat similar to the FUD (Fear , Uncertainty and Fear) mentality if you use Free distributions, there is no support and one bears the consequences.

Onus is his or hers to own but no responsibility attached to the software or the distribution.

It is fair enough but consider a person working for a reputable company takes the free software and add few of his or her own company (example Java Beans. Flash Flush, Adobe Dub to name a few and few of its own household names) brands and put out a distribution, that I call an Offensive Marketing (fringes and frills of it) strategy.

I have reason to believe that this is happening today.

1. The parafox

2. The Offensive Medicine Concept (purely Sri-Lankan Concept based on Buddhist Karma and Karma-Pala-Vipaka).

3. The Offensive Marketing Concept are few that comes to my mind using Professor De Bono's lateral thinking strategy.

I hope these three will get to Annals of Web Publishing before I die (so that I can claim proprietary rights, and that should last 70 years after my death of course).
