Corona Virus Pandemic and Linux
Luckily the Corona Virus pandemic was off year for Debian whereas, Ubuntu was active during this period. I was down with Myocarditis due to Corona Virus Vaccination and the moment I recovered from the major symptoms, I got interested in Ubuntu and tested all its derivatives.
Having done that I have lost interest in Ubuntu due to many reasons, one major reason being the use of Root Level for normal use and no user case scenario violating the Linux fundamentals.
Its approach to software repository is another sore point.
Sacrificing Security for ease of use is a major concern and the system would crash for no reason.
I had a long lay off doing nothing and I got reactivated promoting Linux to this day.
This book was the final outcome.
Linux guys are Text Masters and they had everything documented in either manpage or in books.
In reality, Linux is either file or a directory.
I was handicapped since early computers did not have USB ports.
I had to go on search for CD/DVDs.
I had over 1000 CD/DVDs including Apple, Photoshop and Windows.
They are gathering dust in Ceylon.
It was a pain to install Windows 95 using 42 to 44 Floppy Disks.
On another note, I was looking for Archive Organisation to look for Old Puppy Linux derivatives and 90% what is archived there is related toPuppy Linux and there are old copies of Linux Magazine which I subscribed until my retirement. The magazine subscription was very expensive and it comes from Germany and not from America.
By this time, I was getting addicted to Androids from Jelly Beans to Kit Kat and I had 10 or more Android phones and tablets to play with.
The next stage was to go for Android Studio.
I downloaded Android Studio with a capacity of 1.2GB but never tested the Studio on Ubuntu. By default, Android Studio has a maximum heap size of 1,280 MB.I was looking for a book (preferably with a DVD) with Code in Ceylon for over 4 years and I could not find.
Here, now I am in Australia and I could not find a book on Android Studio. Android keeps the Code to themselves and I begin to hate Google.
Then, when I found it is all Java Script, I was disappointed and that the Code has bugs and bugs. Now the Code Stuff may have doubled and gone up to2.5GB.
My gut feeling of its Heap Size is 4GB and that is why it is asking for 4 to 8GB RAM.
Please do not confuse with RAM and Heap Size.
It is getting bigger and bigger and buggier and buggier.
If you look at the Android base, it has the Linux Kernel, GUI and a Browser.
If you look at Steam, it is stuck there for ages at Steam 3. It is a Game Console and a basic browser on top. The games one has to purchase.
Steam OS is a big failure of the Linux Freedom Concept.
They promised to release a new Linux Distribution for the desktop but never kept that promise.
Steam Deck and drive is over 350 US dollars and I can buy 3 basic NUCs for that price. Of course,
I need to spend on RAM and I have enough SSDs (not the expensive NVMes).
