Data Quality is not a Concept Now

Data Quality is not a Concept Now

I used to say during my research days,

If.you put garbage in to a computer garbage out invariably happens.

I used to detest meta analysts.

They are the ones who takes sets of  data from others and create a new set of data and assume that the new set is their own creation.

Assumption is a dangerous preoccupation.

It is like religious beliefs.

In reality they have not contributed a single bit of data.

So I collected each piece of data myself and double checked every piece.

No secretary was involved.

I was the secretary.
I was the data collector.
I was the data analyst.

It takes time but reliability stands out.

In big business these three are done by three different guys or girls and a single error is multiplied by three.

Multiple errors leads to multiplex of no validity.

This is where I am against the AI or artificial intelligence.

If you feed inaccurate and inadequate data the outcome is a singularly of nonsense.

Really I was against the medical data formats.

An accurately kept Bed Head Ticket with a ongoing problems and outgoing problems summarised, ideally on weekly basis and if not monthly basis is adequate.

A database is only good enough for retrieving and sorting out two or three cases with identical names.

Nothing more.

The rest becomes redundant statistics.

This does not underscore a simple database kept by a GP with regular contacts of subjects.

Unfortunately most GPS become data collectors and referral agents of substandard quality.

I was obsessed about a database from birth  in my research work but my attempt at extending beyond was futile since the responsibility of tying the knot  was delegated to midwives (mind you, there were a few good ones) who were poorly trained about accuracy, globally, as regards to the biodata collected and recorded on BHTS and the nurses are busy with birth certificates and the rest and the final record book had simple but many errors including the sex of the baby.

Mind you, I cracked the NUT that of the global belief that male babies are bigger and healthy, but in reality the womb of the mother is non discriminatory to the sex of the baby, if
BMII are compared with the lengthy  and weight (a bit  heavier  male babies) of the baby irrespective of the sex .

There was no SEX difference except the slight excess of death of male babies of small mothers, who.worked until the onset of parturition.

Especially so of mothers who were essentially labourers.

The remedy is simple no work after 35 weeks, plenty of sleep and good food.

Iron treatment had no relationship and one or two mothers were anaemic (excluded from the main database).

But B vitamins especially soluble ones are important and until.6 months after stopping  breast feeding.

The lactating mother is often neglected and baby is the center of attraction globally.

Regarding Biodata

No immediate cross checks and sometime with inordinate delays due to frequent shift changes.

Palming the buck to next shift is the name of the game.

Whenever I found discrepancy I used to correct them and mothers are really a patient lot in Ceylon but not the fathers.

Instead of a huge database  with errors multiplied but never knowing at which particular point of entry or contact that has happened, a lots of tiny databases with inbuilt validation algorithms are more effective and functional.

It is interesting to know that, a few guys are calling for data quality at entry point.

Like in purifying water by using filters the data pipeline at every point should be narrowed so that very little pass through to the next level.

Less data means easier is to validate and interpret and understand the clinical consequences.

The checking of data quality is a very good step in the right direction.

Like diplomats who lie for a living every day of the week and develop fake news for human consumption, media also take the baton forward in the relay cycle but inappropriately magnified.

I am fully with Donald Trump (he with a different objective) attacking the established system which need a total revamp.

For me single voter fraud is big enough and in Ceylon it is systemic and built into the system.

My dead father in law and mother in law voted, probably from heaven, ballot papers taken there, in their luggage to heaven, if not Kamma Compendium.

The above concept is alien to politicians.

They thrive on lies.

Of course people in general love lies in Ceylon especially if magnified by the media.

It is like our 550 Jathaka Katas.

Princess Diana's case in the past and currently "now not royal" Harry's case highlights this scenario in real life.

Unfortunately the medical media also has fallen into this trap deeply and the Coronavirus is a classic example.

Can we believe the data coming from China?

That was my first question when the pandemic begun.

Can we believe WHO?

Can we believe data from Ceylon.

I never believed in our doctored (by the army) data.

The current level of infection is the unfortunate end result.

Do not blame others.

Blame thyself.

Olympics in Japan 2021

Big thank you to Chairperson of Olympic Committee for holding fast.and beating the Japanese popular protest and holding it with due care given to the safety of the participants.

I think CNN should ban the Japanese Train Advertisement as a form of protest to the Japanese who are grumpy to the Olympics.

All athletes should participate BUT if they show any signs of mild illness they should withdrew giving written excuse and sort medical opinion immediately.

Any death, even.coincidential may be a big blow to Olympics especially.and sports in general.

Do not let your Dutch courage overtake your common sense and responsibility your   officials and fellow athletes safety.
The competition spirit should not deter the responsibility to the country you represent.

You are a sporting ambassador.

You.should love that image at trying.times.

They have trained for four years and waited another year.

It is a massive blow to moral of argyles and.sports in general.
Unlike team games athletics is a solitary game and toil.

With Coranavirus curtailing sports, I think 4 year gap is a non starter for many.
They should have more at least in yearly basis locally and internationally every two years.

By fiddling with regional politics and having a game at each.continent one can have 5 events.

This will allow athletes to have more opportunities.

Most burn will out they best will remain in good shape.

Now few words about R.J.K.Karunananda, who represented Olympics in 1964 in Japan.

He competed in marathon, 5000 and 10000 but became famous for the 5000.
He was lapped several times but completed  one before last lap with jeers and thunderous applauds.

He kept the Olympic Moto.

Participation not winning that matters.
He added a new proviso,.finishing what one started is also important.

Then we had S.L.B. Rosa who was looked after by two adopting mothers who were better than biological mothers.

Our officials ruined his participation in Montreal 1968.

Mind you both of them come from Roman Catholic Schools in Ampitiya where I schooled in the primary.

I went to Dharmaraja later and it was pleasing to see him winning the Dharmaraja cross country race.

He beat Karunananda and that is how he went to Montreal.
I was never good at long distance and I know why.
Genetically my glycogen stores are enough for 180 meters and nothing more.
These athletes have different long lasting glycogen in the heart and calf muscles.

Taking glucose at the beginning of.the race has no physiological value.

I remember that was the only incentive we had as kids.

My father was a big hindrance to sports and I.used to hide my running shorts.

All tailored by our next door Christian aunty. Finally, when I brought the under 12 and under 14 championship cup.
He began to understand bit of sports.

He hated us listening to BBC cricket commentary.
He rudely switched it off hating English accent.
His English accent was very poor and luckily my teachers at Roman.Catholic School put me on the correct track including sports.
I hated the Christian Bible reading and I was thrown out of the class.
I.conspired with my Buddhist friends soon they joined me.
While our Christian friends toiled with the Bible we played games in the.school grounds.
Mind you the above famous athletes trained in bare foot on the one and only road and mile posts were their targets.

We used to make yearly balloon and kites with adult help and also Wesak lanterns.
The bamboo blasters were our new year tools that were cut to pieces to male lanterns of various shapes and sizes.

With Coronavirus rampaging I do not see the kids even making kites.

I hope they  will at least.make lanterns come this Poya.

Lack of Scientific Strategic Point of Convergence

Lack of Scientific Strategic Point of Convergence

This piece is.written with empathy.

I started  with skepticism bit mingled with sarcasm, especially, for all politicians of a large spectrum, globally spread.

I am gearing for equanimity but no where near it.

There are basically four fears.

Loss of one's belongings or greed of possessing more and more (it is called Americanism and Trumpism is its latest mutant) including power spectrum.

Anger or hate that has no limits (currently Israel but it shifts its location globally).

The worst of it is the idealism that come as various form of religions, now wanting women not to wear underwear but males excluded.

The worst is the fear of death and finding no space to bury the death, in India is escalating.

I think all humans deserve a final resting place, if not in place but in our memory.

They are our fellow beings irrespective of their birth or origin (I mean cultures).

They are not simple statistics but a product of two, a mother and a putative father.

We are sure of our mother but never the father according to Abraham T Kouvoor, an Indian skeptic or a rationalist, long gone with his establishment.

I simply believe  one can be a skeptic but but never a fully accomplished rationalist.

As a medical man every death recorded  is a sting on our expertise challenged to the very core.

Every man or woman is counted and they are not "Vote Bank" to exploit.

Every leader in the developed and developing world is accountable and culpable and it is applied to current President Biden and blaming Trump or scapegoating him is not the scientific way around.

We all fallible human beings, it is part of our nature but that rule does not apply to guys and girls clamouring for power keg.

The political powder peg!

The Coronavirus has exposed us to the way we use ad hoc management strategy to any human crisis, let alone a communicable disease.

It all started in London with cholera epidemic  and it took a decade or more to trace the series of deaths to a common tap used by Londoners.

The primitive Public Health was born but now with tons of antiseptics condiments it has proved ineffective.

It is long before Simpson's forensic principles which I loved in total, that put the foundation of my Pathology Stint.

Realizing that I could add only 20%  after full postmortem examination to the already existing 40% which put breaks to the scientific medical  brain of mine was a welcome recipe.

It broaden my outlook and opened me to Linux and Free Software.

Medicine was a boring subject that I never said while in practice.

With Coronavirus that gut feeling of mine has resurfaced.

I am not saying it to put off anybody who wants to become a doctor or nurse.

But the Coronavirus will diminish the entry into this field for a very long time.

It has exposed the public sector's lack of commitment in UK and private sector's vulnerability in USA.

Insurance corporations will rewrite their small prints to exclude Coronavirus deaths, if not care.

Their premise majority will not fall ill and the premiums are good source for investments falls on the floor, if not the on the face.

I always discouraged psychology and psychiatry not because their is significant lack of pathological footprints but the shear number of the population.

There are more than 7 billion living psychologies on this planet and their should be billions of psychiatrists.

Only Buddha who could read minds of others but that is also one at a time, with rebirth and it's consequences examined in.detail but ordinary psychology guy generally projects his perspective to the gullible subjects.

It has many inherent risks.

The psychiatrists commits suicide  more often than a pathologists.

That is why I always discourage somebody wanting to do psychology.

Now a bit of intermission.

Guys and Girls do not be in a rush to buy an Apple device or Google's Chrome device.

They are all bloatware padded with bubbling new icons and touch finger pads.

It is a waste of money and my version 8 and 9 if not 10 is sufficient for my work with fancy typefaces that takes the strain on my fingers and finger tips.

But if you want hard work performed it is the PC not your Laptop  that takes  you to the winning post, with Grammerly Typeface ruling with grammar.

Apart from my interest in Linux, I took the trouble to improve my English (especially after my retirement).

During my workdays, it was all about correct technical English and exact definition that mattered.

It is now more of both since I have broaden it to Ultra Science and Physics of mine.

I may have to coin new words to add the 4th dimensional view and perspective.

We are unfortunately trapped in 3 dimensions and there is more to this Universe than three dimensions.

It is a big mathematical puzzle.

Universe does neither stop at pictures and video conferences nor the speed of light.

It is much more.

One has to get rid of all religious beliefs and tendencies.

We have to drop political conventions that all men and women are equal.

We have enormous potentials that are suppressed by political, religious and broadly speaking scientific views.

I have already said we may be able to unravel the 20%.

I am not trying to be philosophical here.

The philosophers  are good at posing good questions and not expecting a ready made answer.

Quite the opposite here in my expansive projections.

Those projections are applied  to Coronavirus spread.

My current view is 50% blame goes to the politicians who govern and the other 50% who believe them as gospel truths.

We must make people less believing the plausible government side of the argument and find big holes in that argument.

I think there is a big hole in the big bucket of lies spread by paranoid doctors.

The big bucket cannot hold the current fluidity of the argument, since the virus is finding new ways explore the human predicaments.

Its fluidity in existence is existential.

There is no tailor made answers.

The answers have to be evolving with the trends and statistics.

I have a few points for argument.

The population is fast expanding and WHO has no population policy to begin with.

UNO is a Big Failure.

The nature's answer is Coronavirus to control the over population.

But a successful virus never exterminate it's host.

Less than 0.001% is it's normal strategy.

The Coronavirus far exceeds the limit of nature's tolerance.

That is my argument for human made or laboratory made virus argument.

It is also of 20 to 30 nanometer size very easy to spill out of the unregulated genomic laboratories all over the world.

Craig Ventor may have made millions, if not billions but that genomic cat has gone savagely wild now.

I do not fancy the argument that the virus was present and incubating in USA, well before 2014.

The Chart's extrapolation is in error.

Extrapolating without real data but imaginary data is totally  unscientific!

That is the Chinese side of the argument.

But nobody talks about Singapore planes taking the virus all over the world from China and its lack in house plans to spread inside the cabins.

I have no sympathy for few airlines going bust.

The current trends in technology and video conferences put lead weight on airlines trying to open up logistically again.

The priorities are changing fast and I have no grouse about Air Ambulances which was a part of my work in New Zealand.

This industry is only for the super flyers.

Not for an average Indian who does not have a regular place for logging and share a room or dormitory.

Lack of housing is a global problem, especially for migrant workers.
I need to expand on global housing and how architects have no inspiration as regards to human predicament in a global pandemic.
Their esthetics may have high value for rich customers but majority in this world does not have a proper roof above them.

Sharing toilets is a common problem.

A house with 4 should have at least three toilets if we are to avoid domestic transmission of any infection.

They should not be on the same level but at different levels, at least four with a rooftop garden to support robust plants that cool the house and capture at least minute amount that was released during construction.

I do not believe in Premadasa type of "Block Cement" compartments with common toilets.

I hate high rising buildings.

If a high rising building.catchers fire it is catastrophe.

See the film Towering Inferno.
I was once incarcerated overnight in Singapore due to mishandling of the flight schedule by Sri-Lankans Airline

I.was in the  21 or 23rd floor and I could not sleep having explored the fire exit twice.
I caught up with my sleep inflight to London.

Those days airfares were cheap and only a few traveled.

Middle seats were empty and space was enough to spread out.

Coming to ground level, in my neighbourhood there is a common toilet which is an eyesore.

There is a house built on Premadasa style near it without a toilet.

Our Grama Niladhari's office is nearby.

He has no toilet.

There was a public water tap like in London, there.

I was instrumental in closing it to save water.

Why somebody get free water while I pay the water bill?

Mind you, our last water bill was over Rs.5000/=.

So this joint is a ideal breeding or spreading ground for the Coronavirus and the quarantine site or the teacher training college is nearby.

No wonder three wheeler drivers were the first to catch the virus.

Little beyond is the University.

Thank God,  it is closed to students and would have been  an epicenter.

We have mismanaged this crisis from the very beginning.

There were big holes to plug but they.plugged the easy ones.

It is our Navy who started it.

Of course army helped it spreading.

I finish with a sore point.

I have nothing against LGBT people but homosexuals spread this virus globally.

It is simply a Enterovirus that slips the gear to respiratory mode  having switched to Adenovirus methodology (this supports my original argument that it is a laboratory virus which escaped from China).

AIDS was a classic example.

It was tree monkey virus to begin with.

The German  Nazis had a base in Western Africa before Second World War.

They used poor tree moneys for experimenting.

Gods only know for what?

May be for biological weapons.

They picked up the virus from the monkeys.

They were homosexuals whereas Africans were not.

Poor Africans were subjects of vaccination program without sterilizing needles and instruments and not by sexual route.

They passed the Mutant AIDS virus to all Africans.

History repeats and this time, it is in Communist  China.

The bat was the source if not civets.

UEFI is a pain compared to Legacy BIOS

UEFI boot loader is a pain.

Luckily my PC has the option to remain in BIOS mode.

BIOS supports duel booting with Linux.

I had no problem after erasing Windows from the system with BIOS.
I used to have at least 8 Linux distributions in with the 15 partition limit, it has.

By using swap partition one can make faster page transfer.
Usually swap partition should be twice the RAM one  has.

BIOS has 2 terrabyte limit for the disk.
If you have two disks you can have 30 partitions and it is more than ample for a simple guy.

I use NTFS partitions for Data storage which Linux can read.

(FAT partition is bit dicey).

One terrabyte is ample for a Linux guy who uses resources effectively.

Now come to my 5 year old Laptop it supports UEFI for Windows only.

It effectively blocks duel booting with Linux.

I have used BSD to erase the Windows boot menu but it secretly keep the Windows script in the hardware, I believe.

Certainly, not in the hard disk which I have  erased  and it says there is no bootable media.
I cannot go to BIOS and it is password protected and the vendor who sold it in Singapore did not give me the password.

Had I known.this scenario, I would have asked.

In any case it was for my son and he soon lost interest after two.years.

Then I used my normal techniques and erased everything and I could not boot Linux.
Then by accident I discovered BSD CD and it erased using Internet connection and installed ESP partition and BSD.

At that time BSD had only limited software and I finally got the Debian 9 booted with the help of the ESP created by BSD.

It also had PCLinux.

Then I lost interest mainly due to the demise of our dog (its pictures in the laptop contributing to shutting it off)  and I used my PC exclusively for my routine work.

Now Coronavirus made me to revisit the Laptop and I updated it with Debian 10 and booted OK.

I erased PCLinux in the processes and one day I installed Ubuntu 20-10 and it destroyed the ESP booting and reverted me to Windows booting with password protection.

I could not boot Debian 10.

Then deliberately, I pulled the defective Ethernet wire that connected to my PC and burned it and I lost all Internet connections to boot BSD.

I thought of booting with WiFi but I did not have data having exhausted all with two failed downloads of Knoppix 9.

Now nothing else to do I booted the  Endless OS and it erased everything and installed its Ostree but it won't let Linux duel booting.

Even Knoppix 8.2 won't touch the Windows UEFI boot record or and GRUB utility failed.

Endless OS can be booted on an external disk and it has limited software from the DVD.

Without Internet I cannot install new applications.

Finally I used  MultiSysyem Linux on a FAT partition and booted the Laptop with a 16 GB USB and a 600 GB SATA disk.

Peppermint is on.
Pinguy OS is on.
Multisystem is on.
Gpart is on.
Knoppix is on.
Emmabantus is on.
All Puppy Linux except FATPup.

I am.back to full orientation even without the Internet.

I think, Coronavirus incarceration was a blessing in.disguise.

Me and my humble beginning of Linux

I cannot believe that I am posting this from an elegant  Nokia (pioneer of cellphones or it was called a brick those days) cellphone and not from a dumb and dark terminal of a PC with a standard keyboard.

1. Linus Torvalds's Linux is three decades old.

2. I entered it 20 years ago, 10 years after him.

3. Thanks to the loads of books at that time including Redhat 8.

4. My first book "Using Linux,  5th Edition" by four authors, namely Jack Tackett, Steve Burnett, Rob Napier and Jeff Tranter started  the spin.

Now I am good at spinning a Googly like Mulathiran.

Cricket was my only obsession then and now total disinterest, thanks to Indian IPL, terminated by Coronavirus.

5. No waning of my interest in Linux.

Since I am winding up my blog here  by mid July, it is fitting tribute to Google for allowing me to post Linux 100 here.

6. This piece, is for those guys/girls who have learnt only a few Linux commands and did not read a book at all, but posting as WEB GURUs (really bogus guys/girls) to read how Linux community including Ubuntu Community developed the Linux enthusiasm globally.

Read my books on Linux which even describe partitioning using
Partition Magic under Windows hood to begin with.

7. Thanks to Emmabantus for extending its outreach to even Africa.

8. Thanks to MultSystem from France for helping me to carry all my favourite Linux in a USB stick or SATA disk.

Of course I am still struggling with my French accent but persevering.

9. Now to nitty gritty of Linux.

10. It is truly multiuser, multitasking with full implementation of  ITP/TC protocols, which windows could not implement or handle, then.

11. I started with dumb terminal using and editing fsdisk (Caldera) and cfsdisk (Debian) and particularly Partition Droid of Redhat.

I hate dumb terminals and thanks to X-Windows for Graphic interface that I love.

12. The book had 3 CDs and it all started with this book.

13. Of course, I used Knoppix and Pendrive Linux (humble beginning on a 100 MB USB with Puppy Linux booting) extensively from Knoppix 3.9 to 7 to 8.2 on USB sticks.

I still could not download Knoppix 9 English version due to bungling of MobiTel and Dialog.

14. As a dog lover, Puppy Linux  is my ultimate favourite including FATPup in 64 bit version.

15. There were no CDs then Internet and Floppy Disks were the installation methods.

16. Linux is text based and not resource hungry and my son's first computer had only 4MB RAM and could not find another 2MB RAM extension then.

I used Debian 6 with six or seven CDs to boot it dual with Windows 95 which I hate to this day.

The book recommended 16 MB but ideally 32 MB RAM.

I still have that PC in my bedroom as a souvenir.

Windows destroyed  three or four hard disks of my office computer, with the then Dean who was a friend of mine over my shoulder.

To begin with over 40 floppies to install, taking full 8 hours.

17. Partitioning the disk either using partition magic or fdisk or partition droid was the first step.

18. It needed 64 MB  Swap and 128 MB for root files.
Rest of the MBs of a 1 GB space of my hard disk was for user partitions including home partition.

Now my SD card booted with Peppermint Linux has 32 GB (bought in Singapore).

19. It was LILO boot menu and but it became easy with with the GRUB boot loader.

20. I am into BSD using ZFS partitioning on tank structure routine on my Window's Laptop devoid of Windows but booting well to BSD only alone or Linux multiples if I desire.

21. I have Endless OS on a SATA disk but it won't dual boot with Linux.

22. I think that winds up 20 years of perseverance but not one night on 10 or less Linux commands to fiddle with in the web.
Linux has over 60,000 utilities in it's repositories but mastering a few will get your job at hand done especially with a server clouds now in operation.

I am fully retired now but with an eagle eye on what is going on.

23. What is annoying with Windows is that the operating system once installed is bare of any useful software and one has to install piece by piece often paying money.

Linux distributions have multitude of applications already installed with the first boot

I rarely need anymore except Abiword that is deleted due to popular LibreOffice.

24. What I like most is to run my PC over decade without losing a single file (in spite of this ability I make copies and copies of my books on preparation ) in my PC.
It is a different story with the laptop, I test and erase numerous distributions but boot with USB, often with Knoppix.

I do not format my home partition and it's files remain with same home name over and over again and the password is rarely changed a bit as a precaution.

This strategy was useful when I was busy working with lot of responsibilities  including  conducting examination under a strict protocol.

25. Other odd thing that stand out with virtual keyboard is that they have already forgotten how to use F1 to F12 function key layout.

It used to be F1 to F8 then.

26. If you need the latest in Linux subscribe to Linux Magazine and Linux Voice that comes from Germany not USA.

Poisoning Kids in Ceylon by unscrupulous Private Vendors

I was obsessed with BSD kernel and computer vendors, that I forgot to warn how guys importing sugar substituted with harmful ingredients or substances that damage the kidneys (when.taken over time) were in.wide prevalent in Ceylon.

DO NOT USE White Sugar.

They look clean but looks are deceptive in general.

The ugly looking red sugar is much better.

Only.use the dirty looking unrefined cane sugar.

That will save the kidneys and also tastes better.

All you have to do is to make a cup of tea and let it cool down  for a few minutes.

Now taste it.

From top to the bottom.

It tastes horrible the top layer.

In the middle it is awful with a strange sugary taste.

The bottom layer of the tea is sugary but not real sugar.

All three layers are contaminated with a granular stuff that does not breakdown with sucrase.

These granular stuff get deposited in the kidneys and over time damage the kidneys.

This is worse than aflatoxin which is broken down or metabolized in the liver.

The liver breaks down substances and what cannot be broken down is excreted raw by the kidneys.

This stuff is not biological but as bad as heavy metals that causes kidney disease in farmers.

The.government has a very simple and soothing explanation.

DO NOT believe.

I.have stopped adding sugar to tea over an year or more due to this nasty taste, it was one of my old time classmates who alerted to this poison much later in time scale.

Sugar is not bad for you.and your brain but what is dispensed  without proper regulatory control in Ceylon will shorten your life and may be even with dementia by Chinese margarines.

Stop using margarine for cakes (granular stuff and odd number of fatty acid containing margarines, a double whammy) but use only butter.

We are eating poisons on daily basis including arsenic in red rice and lead as paints.

Thanks to Endless OS

Thanks to Endless OS my Laptop is running  Endless OS seamlessly having erased the Microsoft's secret boot script hidden within the UEFI and it's modification written  in the ESP partition.

Booting was effortlessly easy with BIOS and I never changed the  BIOS setting of my computers.

The GRUB file is a simple command file of few MBs (one MB is more than enough) that boots the operating systems, what used to be called duel hooting.

Now the UEFI sits above the GRUB file and prevents booting an alternative distribution.

UEFI can be placed in only a 100 MB.

It is a very small bit of a terrabyte hard disk or of an external disk BUT it terrorises the Linux booting system.

Even BSD is fighting shy of the UEFI and won't boot unless one is connected to the Internet.

The mighty Big Dog, Debian also won't erase the UEFI bit but gives a crowning alliance to it.

Even Fat Dog of Puppy Linux my favourite, FatPUP does not touch the hard disk of a Microsoft Laptop but faithfully boots it from a tiny USB stick.

Five years ago using BSD over Internet I erased everything that has to do with Microsoft ( I used to call it Micro=Shaft) and booted Debian and it worked till 3 weeks ago.

I booted Ubuntu 20-10 and it reverted my booting options to Microsoft boot menu.

I tried everything including Mageia, the community distribution of Mandrake my heartthrob when I was new to Linux.

Finally I got hold of Endless OS DVD that I downloaded in 2018 but never installed in any of my hardware.

It is somewhat similar to Elementary OS which allows one to make a bootable USB.

I did not try Elementary OS on Laptop due to its small number of applications.

Little while ago I tried Elementary OS but it did not boot on my laptop.
Its version 5 is coming and hope it will have drivers for laptops at least 5 years old.

It just booted up and erased everything and booted my laptop with Endless OS.

On further investigation I found Endless of uses FAT 16 and old grub boot loader on a small FAT partition.

Debian GRUB is now loaded on a Ex4 partition and that is why it cannot bypass Microsoft's UEFI which is is probably in s FAT 32 piece.

However Endless OS, even though.slow in execution of applications has the boldness to overcome the Microsoft's hegemony in.style.

Number one it does not care for the UEFI.

It erased the UEFI and make an ESP boot partition in FAT 16 and also a tiny GRUB boot loader on a One MB partition.

Number two it does not care one has an Internet Connection.

Which is irresistible for me.

I just prefer booting from a bootable iso and add anything I miss later from the software repositories with over 60,000 applications which Microsoft can never match.

Number three it can be booted on a External SATA drive.

The lean part is it is slow compared to Linux, simply because it does not swap pages with swap partition.

Even if one has 8GB RAM that swapping pages is amazingly fast and save RAM for current work.

It took.a lot of time to upload a LibreOffice but it has saving options for many formats.
My favourite AbiWord is not found.

The LibreOffice popularity has killed an excellent command line office package doing things which LyX can do.

It does let my load it to a USB.

It does not recognize or share booting with Linux distributions.

That is my biggest grouse.

Linux has so many heavy.weight and light weight desktops and finally coming to terms with booting files from an Android phone, especially photos.

I have a special concerned about 64 bits.

There are lot of computers in Africa and India which boots 32 bit computers.

I am.in.total agreement with Linux tsar the one only Textstar before he retired.
Those computes still have shelf value doing lot of academic work in.India and Africa.

This is where Ubuntu  and its Cannonical  has left a big vacuum.

In the same vein as Endless OS, 32 bit Endless OS is a valuable resource for schools in poor countries, where they have not seen a working or refurbished computer for ages.

It might be thinking BIG with enormous applications in store and ignoring Linux is a not a simple ploy.

It might backfire in the long run.

I can.get BSD sort my problem in a few hours with Internet running and I have data package upgraded.

Linux guys (not me by the way, I support it's endeavour) will find lot of loopholes in no.time if not flame wars of old time.
With a Lockdown or total Shutdown in Kandy and without Dialog Internet Data, I managed to revive my Laptop accidentally erased.

So Thank You very much Endless OS.

It is amazingly easy to boot and install not like Linux but boot the system, not on to a desktop but to a Cellphone  or Tablet Like interface.

It allows its home partitioned to.be resized without affecting the functionality.

The tank partitioned of.BSD are fixed and won't allow resizing.

Mind you partition type is ZFS not.Ex4.

Utilities are minimal but option of adding Endless amount of Software is possible.

I.could not make a bootable USB but booting was done with DVD of 1.8 GB.

I could not write its image to a 16 GB USB.

I did not try to install it on my PC with BIOS.

I will try it's newer version when I have added data to my Winckle or Broadband.

OEM Guys and Poor Customers

This is in response to guys in the Internet who solicit a fix or fixes to the global and gullible customers.

If you ever fallen to the media hype, do not blame anybody but thyself.

OEM guys built the hype.

The next big thing on the horizon type.

Then they pocket out the big profits from the gullible and global customers.

Most of these guys have made their own mistakes in purchasing the wrong stuff.

Then as an escape route write big pieces in the Internet, not peer reviewed as such.

My advice is simple.

If you have a PC or Laptop that has outgrown your needs, give it for recycling.

Do not give it to your Granny or Aunty.

All items in this world are disposable and computers, too.

If they are doing the fundamental work but not 3 D games, keep them and use them for basic work, till  they are ready for the attic.

It is not the hardware at fault but the Windows software.

Dish Windows Out and use Linux and the Linux looks after the hardware  for decades.

That is of course if you have an attic, which I do not.

I had 13 computers (13 is a lucky mathematical number for me) fully functional while I was testing Network architecture at home.

I am a doc not a computer guy and acquired this skill in New Zealand when they went to Unix in the hospital network administration and  I saw all the pitfalls entailed , firsthand with even Unix which was platform based then.

This was even before Windows 95.

I wanted to buy a computer as the last in my shopping  list before leaving NZ and the good vendor there and my wife discouraged that effort and instead I bought an Atari game console.

The entire faculty had 8 computers then and only three could access, the Internet.

So at my pace I acquired my skills on hardware.

All of them, IBM computers with solid framework.

Cheap secondhand purchases (bought a server also for Linux testing with 128  IBM dedicated RAM and could not find another RAM for upgrades, for my office room).

So if you buy cheap or secondhand stuff once the time is out the recycling is the only way out and Ceylon does not have a policy on this important principle.

Mind you, I tried an Apple Globe, that came secondhand from Japan.

All in Japanese and no instruction book.

I booted it with a CD or USB stick with multiple Linux distributions before buying it.

I erased  the hard disk and installed Redhat 5 and it was very slow.

What a mishap I have to deal with as a Linux guy.

I think I was using Redhat 8, three or four years of uptime in Linux then, in my PC before Fedořa came in for a kill in my interest in Redhat altogether.

Within three months I lost interest in Apple, and it was a display piece far out of my reach.

I did not try BSD on it but surely it would have booted it.

As for hardware CD ROM jammed once and I could not take the CD out with its open and closed button not working.

I had to.fiddle with the CD ROM.

I tried booting Debian (3CD set) instead of Redhat (6 CD set I had misplaced somewhere but I found it one year later) and with it's  limited RAM it won't boot Debian but Debian CD warned me of its faults.

I gave it to a guy who was interested in hardware but not Linux.

He could not find an Apple bootable CD in Ceylon.

That was its life journey from Japan to Ceylon to JUNK.

Mind you, our politicians are good even importing hospital refuse including bed linen from Europe and one of them became fabulously rich.

One of them now owns a TV channel in Ceylon and ran as a presidential candidate to cover up his tax returns.

This is a country for rogues, all one has to do is to give a thumping donation to another rouge on saffron clothes and all his bad deeds are cancelled and conveniently forgiven and forgotten for good.

Thanks to Coronavirus it has put an end to these shoddy deeds.

Only cricket board is left to swindle left, right and center and we can hold even IPL in Ceylon for Indians with or without Coronavirus.

I do not buy a brand new stuff when they come to the market especially the computers.

I assemble my own to my own taste and having waited for  a few years, especially untill the prices are showing a downward trend.

By the way, the first computer for my son with 4 MiB RAM is right in front of my bed as a souvenir.

So when the time was right, I dismantled the entire network leaving only two 32 bit computers with data in them (only one with window duel booting).

Since they were secondhand stuff for testing, I did not have any special affection or affliction except the RAM total which I pull out immediately.

I keep all the RAM and a few good DVD writers and gave the rest to my vendor who has become a life long friend.

I have this connection with the pet fish vendor, too who is a very good paddy farmer.

In fact, I germinated about 20 paddy seeds, today, he gave me for experimentation.

The heavy monsoon rain pouring down might wash away the seeds to the drain,  I believe.

Then, I went for a gaming PC and a handy window box for my wife saying it is a widow box soon with Windows rapid upgrading cycles.

What it means is they are putting out untested stuff to gullible users to deal with their entire life.

This PC has multiple Linux distributions and I installed Debian 10 on the SSD two days ago.

Working fine.

I use SSD for operating system  and the  data chunks are  on IDE.

Rapid and frequent writing on SSD will shorten its shelf's value but not running or trading the system files.

Laptop is defunct due to No Data on my Wincle and Broadband.

I am incarcerated not by default but by Coronavirus paranoia and I cannot go out and pay money for extra data to download
TrueOS.

Blockdown or Lockdown is operational now even in Kandy.

Berkeley Software Distribution and My OEM Laptop Hijacked by Microsoft

Berkeley Software Distribution and My OEM Laptop Hijacked by Microsoft

You have to put up.with this piece which is technical but I will put it in simple English but mixed with few jargon words of computer science.

I wanted to call it " a stop" to Internet and its protocols but still, mostly I believe guys  visit my blog space, I decided to continue it bit longer but it will come to a stop eventually like a dramatic divorce case of Bill Gate but simmering it for years before, like his hopeless operating system in the name Windows.

The machines do not have emotions or brains but are dedicated to doing a particular process, like vending machines distributing soft drinks (it is software or a dedicated program in computer science).

Now my laptop has no operating system running since I accidentally erased my BSD dedicated ESP boot plan.

I was bored due to Coronavirus incarceration and decided to boot Ubuntu 20 version as a supplementary version to Debian.

It reverted my laptop to Microsoft pirated U.E.F.I. and it says there is no operating system, in spite me installing two, Debian 9 and 10 versions.

Even Debian finds shy of touching U.E.F.I.

Why?

I do not know.

? Litigation by Bill Gate cronies?

But TrueOS a BSD version does it in a flash and takes over the computer under its umbrella.

TrueOS is totally.destructive in the hands of a newbie.

To complicate the matter I pulled out the Ethernet Wire and burned it (a few broken parts and I do not have a crimpler to connect the working lengths).

I decided to go WiFi and pulled the Ethernet  wire of the router.

My bed room is 80 feet Ethernet wire distance away and pulling in a costly wire is not healthy at my age with thunderstorms day and night.

TCP/IP and router protocol will be at the end of this piece.

I used my Dialog data in a few hours downloading Knoppix which stopped exactly at 30% of download,  not once but twice due to Our Internet Master Ad-Monster interfering with my download well pass midnight.

He may have had a paranoia that I was downloading PORN.

Now coming to BSD and TrueOS are actually internet protocols dedicated Operating Systems and one need an active Internet Connection for installing live.

It was five years ago I boot loaded the laptop with BSD using Ethernet connection wire but now it can do that by WiFi and it detected all my carriers but with the data blocked by Dialog (they only want money nothing but no service supercharge or temporary extension), I have to eat a humble pie or is it a lie like Boris Johnson in UK.

Mind you our Water Bill is more than the Internet Bill with a broken pipe leaking for one month or so without our notice.

Thankfully they did not disconnect the water unlike Telecoms.

Mind you, I have stopped answering the land phone or giving any calls.

Only one news, Coronavirus and Coronavirus comes through it.

Now to the technical stuff.

BSD is platform independent unlike Unix and is a Internet Protocol dedicated system.

If internet is out it is out of service.

1. BSD is platform or computer independent.
It does not matter what operating system you use, an expensive Apple or inexpensive supercharged Linux.

2. It is Internet protocol dedicated.

3. It uses Virtual Memory handsomely.

4. Its software programs are super fast unlike Microsoft.

5. But its learning curve is deep if you are using the Black Terminal.

6. It has a graphic Vi Editor for Ex terminal editor of Unix.

I hate black terminal to soothing graphic terminals.

Linux has soothing Desktops and Plasma is my current favourite.

BSD has only one Lumina desktop which is a  bad start for me.

7. Its handling of ESP is pretty good and erases the UEFI of Microsoft's OEM ploy in seconds without any fear or favour.

8. Its software bundle is lean and fits into a CD not.a DVD.
The rest of the software is in the Internet, now popularly and affectionately known as the cloud.

9. Its server version is slim.

10. It is FREE or freely distributable.

No copyright charges like Apple.

11. It is Unix variant and not Linux variant.

It has teething problems with Linux.

12. It has all the big programming languages like Perl, Ruby, the  Anaconda version, venerable  the Python.

I am still looking for a Python.programing book, nearly three years.

I will stop at this. the next number is my favourite mathematical number 13.

Like Java Beans the operating system should be platform independent.

Hardware manufacturers should not have roadblocks.

It is OK for Apple, since it supervises its own hardware.

Microsoft does not put money on O.E.M. or hardware development but secr
etly insinuate U.E.F.I.

Its surface tab is a failure in front of Androids.

T.C.P. and I.P.

When I wrote a book about Internet  many moons ago it had 6 (SIX) or so Engineering protocols and of looks like they are merging some of them.and making 4 layers.

1. Data Link Layer with uniform standards or protocols.

2. T.C.P. or the Transfer protocol.

3. I.P. or the dedicated IP address protocol

4. System or hardware based Application protocols providing services.

What happened to the topmost layers?

Eaten up by the Cloud servers or the D.o.D (Department of Defense) protocols of Facebook and Twitter.

I think the CIA has outsourced top two layers  of its services to Facebook and Twitter and earn money in the process.

What a profitable plan?

I always believed in this strategy and that is why I stopped using them long time ago.

One Drive, Google Drive and Dropbox are putting restrictions on users and are waiting to suck in dollars and pounds.

Me telling, Good Bye to Internet after 20 years is easy.

IT protocols were owned by big companies in the beginning and the Internet blossomed as an educational.platform.

BSD from California Berkeley did a yeoman service in the beginnings for services to available in.the universities worldwide.

It has gone through the full circle and back to big companies.

Now money only speaks and big companies have a stranglehold on millions of minions.

That is called development and in Ceylon a software is used by Army to snooze on us.

I have nicknamed this software as the proboscis the mosquito use it to suck our living blood.

Interestingly, the name of the software start with a P.

There is an appropriate slang or vulgar word starting with P in Sinhala.

What a coincidence?

Plight of Indians

I feel sorry for the Indians.

Their masters wanted them to be the global.work force and won't have simple travel insurance, leave alone medical.insurance.

For the ruling class they are the "Vote Bank" and soon forgotten, till the next general election.

It is true for Ceylon, too.

The Coronavirus exposed the global human falliability.

This piece is not about that but about Tuberculosis.

Even the majestic Wholly Mammoth, I believe succumbed to this disease.

Unlike Coronavirus, the tuberculous infection effects all organs except teeth.

In the elephant it is the tusks that escape tuberculous destruction.

Viral infections especially measles lower the innate immunity and exposes the vulnerable kids to the tuberculous pandemic.

Now the Coronavirus pandemic raises the possibility of this tuberculous pandemic in India, Ceylon and African subcontinent due to poorly tailored vaccination programs.

BCG vaccination has gone into oblivion in some countries, including America and Europe.

Most of the domestic and lower paid immigrants coming from to developing countries will spread tuberculosis all over the world albeit after a little lull.

These immigrants are partially immune to tuberculosis but Coronavirus hit exposes them.to pneumonia caused by tuberculosis.

It takes six to eight weeks of Koch's postulate to confirm tuberculosis which none of these countries have laboratories equipped with media to grow but PCR technology now we have may be useful with some modifications.

There are many tuberculosis variants species.specific to fish to elephants to dogs to cat family.

There are also anonymous mycobacteria, too.

One of my teachers in bacteriology (virology was non.existent then) who developed a PhD thesis in anonymous tuberculosis (probably animal variant crossing species like Chinese animal Coronavirus) may have been a culprit.

His thesis was rejected fearing loss of chance to go abroad (Indians and Ceylonese never return after foreign sojourns).
He said these university guys are psychopaths and became a psychiatrist in Australia.

With his five children I never saw him but I am told his kids are doing better than his father.

Incidentally, his house was sold to our Wijeevira and police was after him thinking he was a JVP guy.

That put his entire family off of Ceylonese Origin.

When all intellectuals leave this.country mediocre guys take the rein including our cricket.

The credible gap.of WHO wide open now.

Shoddy Telecom Service Carriers of Ceylon and Knoppix V9 Version

Coronavirus brings boredom to home, I decided to download  Knoppix Version 9.

It is a classic DVD with ton of applications and a very very beautiful desktop which Microsoft Windows will never be able match in spite of its global commercial  hype.

The Coronavirus had hit Microsoft developers, too.

Knoppix is 4.3 GiB image but compressed tightly.

Unfortunately, I pulled out the entire 80 feet long and old Ethernet wire that connected to my PC over the roof.

It was damaged and I will not rewire it again but decided to Go Broadband in Ceylon Style.

It was a very big mistake.

At night at 30% of the image downloaded it FROZE twice.

One was Dialog Wincle  and the other was Dialog Broadband.

I used to get all the DVDs with my Linux Magazine but I stopped subscribing since in my.retirement, Linux takes a second place to Android phones in my priority and especially Nokia my favourite.

The cellphone saves lot of electricity bill which.the PC consumed to read an email.

In fact, nobody uses emails  which is very cheap compared to video conferencing which.is in.vogue currently till another application hits the market.

The HiFi video games bores me. compared.to simple games including solitaire card games.

Luckily I have large number of USB sticks with multiple Linux distributions installed in them and there was hardly any development during Coronavirus pandemic  except Kernel 5 development to which I have no contribution.

It will be out soon and I won' t buy a new gadget to test the Kernel.

I will leave it to Linus Torvalds.

Mind you, Apple is coming our with a new chip and it is banned for Chinese use  and the China' s goal to dominate the industry is in doldrums for the time being.

That is good and I hate cheap  Chinese duplicate that only last one year or less.

Only discarded cheap.stuff of China comes from Singapore outlets.

Do not buy cheap stuff and go through  the consequences.

This applies to.Korea, too.

China should work on democracy and not  flooding.the global.markets with imitation stuff and Australia and EU applying pressure on China is pretty good.

Unfortunately, Boris Johnson's dream of Brexit and enticing China to export cheap products to.UK will not come true (to fill UK with Cheap China products).

The poor Chinese workers' wellbeing is neglected in UK.

That is how UK democracy works.

President Putin is fully geared to take a credible lead in the Coronavirus Vaccine with Latin America in the grips of becoming the Communist's administrators nightmare!

Coming to downloads both for no reason the threads stopped the downloading in early phase not even 30% downloaded.

Why?

Guys and Girls are downloading PORN in Ceylon daily but this flow is not for an ardent  Linux guy who loves to test a new image in.evolution.

The server is frozen at a particular MIB or GiB.

Arbitrary decision.of the server administrator in Ceylon to save bandwidth to gullible users of PORN including priests who do not want laymen and women with Dhana to come to temples but FREE internet.

Mind you I have paid over Rs.5000/= for the broadband and did not download a single file till I tried Knoppix V9.

I am going to take the Broadband gadget and crash it on the floor of the Dialog Center in Kandy in broad daylight.

Thankfully, the Coronavirus pandemic prevents me doing that for the time being.

Good on them, the Coronavirus.

They are sucking every penny or cent from the poor users.

About Telecom no better  and  my call bill over Rs5000/= plus taxes and it's ringing tone had a irritating Buzz as an insect is piecing my ear.

I went and bought a new receiver thinking.the old one was.faulty but it magnified the BUZZ or the irritation in my ear.

Their ploy is to entice the guys and girls with fiberoptics along  with a fat bill but won't service the land lines.

The previous receiver had three  AAA batteries to record the caller and flash capability.

The current receiver with no batteries, and the Telecoms should provide the default  power supply of the line.

I have told all my friends after the new year celebrations, I will not call to put down on my TAX bill on calls and this BUZZ was a blessing in disguise that I terminate the call, with a triple message of KANAWA, BONAWA and RENEWA and nothing else to SAY.

Of course, the last word I do not pronounce but get the listener or the caller to guess.

Mind you, I had a Rs.150,000/= bill paid and my son had downloaded  over one hundred  thousand downloads, in a month with its PEO TV service.

They are SUCKERs and I told my son many months later the fat bill I paid.

They should have warned but never did.

My son got the message in good stead.

Like Kevin TV is his life but programs are very poor now with loads of advertisement which he deletes by reflex action.

Lot of AAA batteries consumed but I bought him rechargeable batteries and two rechargers.

With power down with.thunderstorms  I do not have to water my plants but had a rainwater bath not from gutters but straight from the sky.

Mind you, it not safe with lightening.

They will hit you before the rain and Chun Pan guys should be mindful of the lightening.

Why I hate Microsoft and Bill Gate

Why I hate Microsoft and Bill Gate
Windows is a shoddy operating system and resource hungry where my first computer with 2 MiB RAM could not handle Win 95 but I used Debian 6 with over 6CDs could do a better job then.
Later I migrated to Redhat since there were many books written from Redhat 7 onwards.

Then ofcourse, Caldera, Debian and Mandriva and still later Knoppix took me to New Heights in Linux.

About Mr. Bill Gate I have nothing personal to say and his divorce probably is good for both.

Hanging onto a breaking relationship is nerve racking to any human being.

I hope both do some productive work on their own volition.

My grouse with him is his ploy with manufacturers to insinuate OEM hardware with  BOGUS MEFI (it was named Unified Framework but I used M for Microsoft here for his personal.Babe) or framework interface was an atrocious business plan to stifle Linux users.

I do not have to take permission from Bill Gate to use open source Linux in my laptop initially installed with Microsoft Windows.

It does not let me use legacy BIOS and still have a UEFI script hidden in the memory or within the hardware architecture of the OEM portion.

Simple method to overcome this ploy is to stick a SD of at least 32 GiB and install the boot loader there.

UEFI won't let you use legacy GRUB to boot multiple Linux distributions.

I have now tried Linux ESP partition to bypass UEFI blocking mechanism.

If OEM guys says no boot medium even after having installed a Linux.distribution, this is what you have to do.

1. Download BSD TRUE OS DVD, Debian DVD 1 and Genome Partition (GPT) iso CD.

2. Install TRUE OS and it virtually takes over the Disk Drive of your laptop.

3. Unfortunately it does not let you boot any other distribution.

4. Boot GPT partition disk.
Delete the tank partition of BSD leaving only the ESP partition which the TRUE OS had created.

Then.partition the disk.with Ex-4 or BTRS partitions.

5. Mount Debian DVD and install.

You.have the option of using the unused part of the hard disk but remember to.mount ESP partition (but do not format the  ESP lest partition.details are erased).

There is a very simple solution, if the Microsoft Media is not bootable.

1. Buy a mounted SATA disk and attach it to the Laptop.
One terabyte is cheap now.
I sometime go.to.Singapore and do my usual shopping and see offers for about a week and by all.the stuff one third the price in Ceylon.
Now Coronavirus has put a stop to it.

Coming.back to the external SATA disk one partition it they way one likes it.

Ultimately install a Linux distribution to boot from.while attached to the laptop.

The GRUG boot loader will detect the distributions unbootable from the laptop and boot them via the external disk.

One can.use a SD card or USB but installing  a distribution in a tightly packed USB is slow and may break down.in.the middle  of the installation.

That problem one does not encounter with a one terabyte external disk.

I have used my innovative methods to erase OEM blocking ploy with BSD and then to install Debian thereafter.

Unfortunately even Ubuntu gives up and succumb to UEFI ploy and it destroyed my booting options.

Only BSD does erase everything and install ESP partition.

Not even Debian can handle it.

Internet, Service Sector and Chun Pan

I think that the current government's thinking and psychosis is that once the people are given Chun Pan or Bread Service, eveythimg falling to place.

I am trying to download Knoppox V9 English version and it take 12 hours with amazingly fast Internet.

All Internet service providers are hopelessly SLOW.

There is total Inertia of the Government Sector hiding behind the Coranavirus Pandemic.

It's management failure is showing with the ( I call it ) fourth surge.

One was hidden during the parliamentary election.

In other words, election was held in the thick of an epidemic.

Thankfully we did not go as bad as India but the current surge is unpredictable and going in that direction.

I have written about it enough but the Service Inertia is the current topic in this piece.

I am waiting to get my National Identity Card for over one year and it looks like it will never come.

I suppose one should leave a small slit at my funeral site to POKE it IN when it finally arrives.

It is not a POKER game for me but the government is very good with its POKER FACE.

I want to be a piece of statistics after my demise not only during elections.

I suppose they should hold the provincial council elections and make the pandemic ever progressing towards our funeral sites.

The Government Service has become a bloody joke except for the service of Grama Niladharis.

Samurdhi Niladharis are utter POLITICAL waste of both in human and in economic terms.

By the way, everybody hates the Samurdhi Niladharis.

They do not have the versatility of Grama Niladharis.

Postal service is doing a reasonable job with all the attended risks, to the postmen who deliver the service.

It has become a boom time for Pizza Hut with home deliveries and expanded scope of delicacies.

But one cannot survive only on Pizza.

Kos and Polus are rare entities, now but there is no one to cook them, if they arrive at the doorstep.

Fish monger has become a pest especially because we have become eggo vegetarians.

Without eggs we will have vitamin deficiencies if not Bari Bari or berryberi syndrome.

The government is in total Bari Bari Role except for selling prime national assets.

It is China Time and China Town in Ceylon now.

Police of course take the brunt of the current situation but army gets the credit and air force gets field training shuttling bigwigs.

They are ALWAYS in the air (of course it is an air borne virus with all the risks attended cramped into the cockpit) fearing mass gathering and Coranavirus exposure.

USB Booting Linux

Please go to source forge and  download Multisystem DVD and boot multiple Linux distribution in your USB.

It prepares it's files in a flash.

Most Linux distribution except Debian support this utility.
For Debian way out is to use Peppermint or PCLinux and use USB image creator.

USB capacity should be minimum 8GiB.

Currently I am using my laptop to download  BSD and Knoppix V9 English version.

Dongle or Tingle takes over 6 hours to download Knoppix V9.

It is amazingly fast in Ceylon.
It is on French but press F2 to get English as instructions for preparing the USB.
I usually go to sleep but with thunderstorms blackouts are real possibility.
Unlike the PC the battery save my time.

I paid over Rs.5000/= for Dialog and it's Broadband WiFi is never an activated and I have gone to Hutch.

I believe (I may be wrong)Indian AirTel gives it bandwidth to Hutch to cover Ceylon.

So if MobiTel and Dialog cannot provide which service somebody else fills the space.

Read my article on space dimension here and it is all physics which these money guys and girls will not understand.

They are now fighting for space or airspace now.

Money is the reason!

There were few lines on Linux by few guys who use Linux rarely or experimentally.

This comes from a guy who used Puppy Linux from a USB stick of only 100 MiB many moons ago.

The addiction that it caused me was total and I have not yet recovered.

For some good reason Debian my favourite Linux Distribution does not support USB in general.

Linux guys are hard+born and do not want to stay on 10 or so commands and Vim VimP are for hard-born guys not the light hearted.

I started with Knoppix CD and it was used initially by some dental practitioners to keep their patient data (I have a copy of that CD in my archive but never used it. I am a medical guy who worked in the Dental Faculty and helped in developing the Linux Samba Network instead of Windows) compact.

Last Linux from Karl Knopp that comes from Germany is 9 and it is in German and I am waiting for its English Edition.

This Coranavirus in Germany, I believe hampered English translation.

By the way, Knoppix 8.6 in We English is fine for me.

It's beauty is, it detects 32 bits and 64 bit machines automatically.

Coming to Puppy that comes from Australia, I call him Barry Cooler (forgets his name visit my pieces on puppy Linux in here) who is a dog lover.

His name is Barry Kauler (2003 to 2013).

He retired in 2013 and Wof Wof came into existence.

It was in 32 bits and was a small and there was a BionicPup developed by a follower.

Ultimately it came in 64 bit.
They are Ubuntu based.

All are pretty good.

I have not used Ubuntu (Debian derivative) for sometime and it had good USB support.

Peppermint is light and cool.

I have have thrown away Red hat and Fedora hat for good due to their commercial bent.

Same is true for Sussie but was a great KDE desktop.

But Debian's KDE plasma is elegant and consumes less memory.

But Linux 5 kernel from Linus will rule the globe when it finally comes out.

Because of my heavy work commitments I gave up following latest except Debian, Knoppix and Puppy.

Thanks to all the guys who use Linux and all the developers who put many human hours.
I am bit like Star of PCLinux who retired after 64 bit came in (he did not want to spend his free time on developing Kernel for UEFI support of Microsoft OEM guys) but I persevered with new machines.

I not going to buy a fancy new machine and kernel 5 developments.

Just leave it to Linus in America.
