Thanks to Endless OS

Thanks to Endless OS my Laptop is running  Endless OS seamlessly having erased the Microsoft's secret boot script hidden within the UEFI and it's modification written  in the ESP partition.

Booting was effortlessly easy with BIOS and I never changed the  BIOS setting of my computers.

The GRUB file is a simple command file of few MBs (one MB is more than enough) that boots the operating systems, what used to be called duel hooting.

Now the UEFI sits above the GRUB file and prevents booting an alternative distribution.

UEFI can be placed in only a 100 MB.

It is a very small bit of a terrabyte hard disk or of an external disk BUT it terrorises the Linux booting system.

Even BSD is fighting shy of the UEFI and won't boot unless one is connected to the Internet.

The mighty Big Dog, Debian also won't erase the UEFI bit but gives a crowning alliance to it.

Even Fat Dog of Puppy Linux my favourite, FatPUP does not touch the hard disk of a Microsoft Laptop but faithfully boots it from a tiny USB stick.

Five years ago using BSD over Internet I erased everything that has to do with Microsoft ( I used to call it Micro=Shaft) and booted Debian and it worked till 3 weeks ago.

I booted Ubuntu 20-10 and it reverted my booting options to Microsoft boot menu.

I tried everything including Mageia, the community distribution of Mandrake my heartthrob when I was new to Linux.

Finally I got hold of Endless OS DVD that I downloaded in 2018 but never installed in any of my hardware.

It is somewhat similar to Elementary OS which allows one to make a bootable USB.

I did not try Elementary OS on Laptop due to its small number of applications.

Little while ago I tried Elementary OS but it did not boot on my laptop.
Its version 5 is coming and hope it will have drivers for laptops at least 5 years old.

It just booted up and erased everything and booted my laptop with Endless OS.

On further investigation I found Endless of uses FAT 16 and old grub boot loader on a small FAT partition.

Debian GRUB is now loaded on a Ex4 partition and that is why it cannot bypass Microsoft's UEFI which is is probably in s FAT 32 piece.

However Endless OS, even though.slow in execution of applications has the boldness to overcome the Microsoft's hegemony in.style.

Number one it does not care for the UEFI.

It erased the UEFI and make an ESP boot partition in FAT 16 and also a tiny GRUB boot loader on a One MB partition.

Number two it does not care one has an Internet Connection.

Which is irresistible for me.

I just prefer booting from a bootable iso and add anything I miss later from the software repositories with over 60,000 applications which Microsoft can never match.

Number three it can be booted on a External SATA drive.

The lean part is it is slow compared to Linux, simply because it does not swap pages with swap partition.

Even if one has 8GB RAM that swapping pages is amazingly fast and save RAM for current work.

It took.a lot of time to upload a LibreOffice but it has saving options for many formats.
My favourite AbiWord is not found.

The LibreOffice popularity has killed an excellent command line office package doing things which LyX can do.

It does let my load it to a USB.

It does not recognize or share booting with Linux distributions.

That is my biggest grouse.

Linux has so many heavy.weight and light weight desktops and finally coming to terms with booting files from an Android phone, especially photos.

I have a special concerned about 64 bits.

There are lot of computers in Africa and India which boots 32 bit computers.

I am.in.total agreement with Linux tsar the one only Textstar before he retired.
Those computes still have shelf value doing lot of academic work in.India and Africa.

This is where Ubuntu  and its Cannonical  has left a big vacuum.

In the same vein as Endless OS, 32 bit Endless OS is a valuable resource for schools in poor countries, where they have not seen a working or refurbished computer for ages.

It might be thinking BIG with enormous applications in store and ignoring Linux is a not a simple ploy.

It might backfire in the long run.

I can.get BSD sort my problem in a few hours with Internet running and I have data package upgraded.

Linux guys (not me by the way, I support it's endeavour) will find lot of loopholes in no.time if not flame wars of old time.
With a Lockdown or total Shutdown in Kandy and without Dialog Internet Data, I managed to revive my Laptop accidentally erased.

So Thank You very much Endless OS.

It is amazingly easy to boot and install not like Linux but boot the system, not on to a desktop but to a Cellphone  or Tablet Like interface.

It allows its home partitioned to.be resized without affecting the functionality.

The tank partitioned of.BSD are fixed and won't allow resizing.

Mind you partition type is ZFS not.Ex4.

Utilities are minimal but option of adding Endless amount of Software is possible.

I.could not make a bootable USB but booting was done with DVD of 1.8 GB.

I could not write its image to a 16 GB USB.

I did not try to install it on my PC with BIOS.

I will try it's newer version when I have added data to my Winckle or Broadband.
