Getting Lost in Ceylon is Easy

Getting Lost in Ceylon is Easy

This piece is in evolution.
Yes, Getting Lost in Ceylon is Easy, especially with the present NPP Government in Power.

Tourist industry is our top earner until coronavirus pandemic hit us.
There was a master plan to recover and improve.
The present government has put that plan into the dustbin and trying to have their own amateur plan.

This piece not to discuss that.

I stop exploring at the age of 35.
I used to accompany university student explorations (only on minor episodes) as a senior designated by the university.
I was seconded officer and I had no academic restrictions and research activates.
I did my research work well past 50 years and my contribution is significant.

Reason for me quitting was I could not take the responsibility for irresponsible activities of the organizers behavior.
Alcohol was a taboo and bathing on water pools (unsupervised) after six was banned.
Have to come back before 10PM on day trips.
All these were not my regulations but bylaws of the university having experienced past catastrophe.
One of my teachers brother was drowned and one of my cousins was drowned in Mahaveli, long before I entered university.
My cousin was just eight years old and I did go with him to Mahaveli on that day.

We did not train rescue dogs but dogs always accompany our river bathing.
Attending his funeral was traumatic and never again another life was imprinted in my mind.
No wonder, I ended up as a medical man and that also on pediatrics.
Of course my interest was waterfalls and there are over 350 in Ceylon.
Before 35 I covered 90% of the big ones.
I was just turning 70 when I went to Diyaluma.

I am far off the target.
Let me start with our childhood.
We had very bad teachers, so staying in school was boring
We cut school and plan short explorations.
We somehow come back home at 1.30PM and 2PM the latest.
One day we ended up in Mylapitiya and we were stranded.
We did not have money for the bus trip back.
We figured out the route and decided to walk back.
The people in Mylapitiya treated us as aliens.
That is the point I want to drive in this piece.
Deep in their heart they detested our incursion to their domain.
We felt it acutely.
That is the simple outlook in Ceylon.
Cut the story short, we stopped a funeral van with a dead body inside and hiked the last 2 miles before Ampitiya.
We walked the last mile home as nothing has happened.
Mind you I was wearing a sarong and I was ashamed.
I never wore a sarong from that day onward and slippers were discarded and won't go out without a good pair of shoes.
That year end, I passed out "A" Level with good results with two distinctions (physics and mathematics).

If you get lost and ask for directions.
If you ask three you get three different directions.
They never say, they do not know.
That is the raggedy.
Let me amplify.
Just before leaving Ceylon, I wanted to visit a guy whom I promised many years that I would visit them but could not.
He was loner and I used to give my books for him to read.
Most of them were related to Dhamma and he did not read them.
I said if you are not reading them I should give them to somebody else and made an appointment to visit him.

I asked him directions and I could not figure out the location of his house.
I could mentally figure out, up to the major junction and not beyond.
I told him, I am coming by a Three Wheeler and give a call, once I reach the junction.
I had another plan.
Collect all Anchor Milk cartoon from all the stalls including C.W.E. (Sathosa) on my way back. This was the time when Powdered Milk was difficult to find and went up to Rs.2000/=.
My only request have some "Waraka" to taste.
He had several Jack trees with "Waraka" flavour.
I knew his son well and I told him my plans.

He opened an old wine bottle and I started polishing it out to his surprise.
He does not drink.
He was expecting me to be fully cut.
Of course, I stopped and that was the last tot I had in Ceylon.

I have one of my friends (old school classmate) who is born traveler.
That is his hobby. Unlike me he plans his trips and goes out with his family and with at least one of his sons accompany him.
He stops the car at a particular point and walks to his desired location until sunset.
This part is for foreign travelers.
Ceylon is very well mapped, especially because of our internal war.
There is a big Survey Generals Map of Ceylon.

The Survey Generals Map of Ceylon, or modern-day Ceylon, is commonly referred to as the "One Inch Topographic Map Series". This series consists of 72 sheets and was compiled using plane table surveys in 1924. The maps depict various features like relief, cultural elements, geographical names, administrative boundaries, and contours.

I had a copy of this map.
I did outlined the Mahaveli River in detail in my book on Ceylon and identifying the major waterfalls.
One can get a detail map from the Survey Generals, if one is interested.
I am not sure if foreigners are entitled to them, except the basic stuff.

I gave the Map to my friend before leaving Ceylon.
Of course being a real friend he was with me the last 8 hours of my schedule up to the Air Port inside Gate to say Good Bye.

Collapse of the European Union

 Tuesday, October 4, 2022
Collapse of the European Union

What
X-elensky's War on Russia has done is to initiate the collapse of the European Union.

X-elensky's Curse will actually end the European Union, long before Ukraine's wish becomes a reality.

More than RUSSIA EU is in panic mode.

This is happening when hitherto not seen Far Right is making ground in Europe and America.

Macron's  dream of becoming the elected King of France (now that Queen of England is dead and King Charles becoming a laughing stock soon, with one of his inadvertent and impromptu gig or gag, in a  world forum like global warming or the rain forest or wild life or engendered species) or the De Gaulle's Avatar reborn, will come to an end, soon.

Please do not put the blame on Putin and Russia but look on the EU mirror that has lost its gloss, simply because of the demand of a rouge country like Ukraine.

Macron's lack of diplomacy or
slimy politics will be put to test no sooner Russia either annex or demolish Ukraine.

This scenario could have been avoided long time ago, if the media propaganda by a joker or an actor was stymied and the center stage in European Politics was given to the reality of the existential existence of Russia as a global player and not a regional player.

It is no more hilarious when real politics and a mighty army march forwards a rouge country run by CIA.

This winter will bring lot of surprises or changes globally initiated by food and fuel crisis.

It is not going to be rosy
.

Six Evil Consequences in sauntering in streets at unseemly hours

Six Evil Consequences in sauntering in streets at unseemly hours

There are, young householder, these six evil consequences in sauntering in streets at unseemly hours;

1. He himself is unprotected and unguarded

2. His wife and children are unprotected and unguarded

3. His property is unprotected and unguarded

4. He is suspected of evil deeds

5. He is subject to false rumours

6. He meets with many troubles

Six Evil Consequences in indulging in intoxicants

Six Evil Consequences in indulging in intoxicants

"There are, young householder, these six evil consequences in indulging in intoxicants which cause infatuation and heedlessness:

1. Loss of wealth

2. Increase of quarrels

3. Susceptibility to disease

4.  Earning an evil reputation

5. Shameless exposure of body

6. Weakening of intellect

Six Channels of Loss of Wealth

Six Channels of Loss of Wealth

"What are the six channels for dissipating wealth which he does not pursue?

1. Indulgence in intoxicants which cause infatuation and heedlessness

2.  Sauntering in streets at unseemly hours

3. Frequenting theatrical shows

4. Indulgence in gambling which causes heedlessness

5.  Association with evil companions

6. The habit of idleness.

Four Evil Actions

 Four Evil Actions

"In which four ways does one commit no evil action?
Led by desire does one commit evil.
Led by anger does one commit evil.
Led by ignorance does one commit evil.
Led by fear does one commit evil.

(Four agati, 'evil courses of action': chanda, dosa, moha, bhaya)
"But inasmuch as the noble disciple is not led by desire, anger, ignorance, and fear, he commits no evil."
Thus spoke the Exalted One.
And when the Master had thus spoken, he spoke yet again:
Whoever through desire, hate or fear
, or ignorance should transgress the Dhamma, All his glory fades away Like the moon during the waning half. Whoever through desire, hate or fear, or ignorance never transgresses the Dhamma, All his glory ever increases Like the moon during the waxing half.

What are the four vices?

 What are the four vices?
"What are the four vices in conduct that he has eradicated?

1. The destruction (killing) of life, householder, is a vice and
2. so are stealing
3. sexual misconduct, and
4. lying.
These are the four vices that he has eradicated."
Thus spoke the Exalted One. And when the Master had thus spoken, he spoke yet again;
Killing, stealing, lying and adultery.
These four evils the wise never praise.

Introduction to Sigalovada Sutta

 Introduction to Sigalovada Sutta

"Inasmuch, young householder, as the noble disciple  has eradicated the four vices in conduct, inasmuch as he commits no evil action in four ways,  inasmuch as he pursues not the six channels for dissipating wealth, he thus, avoiding these fourteen evil things, covers the six quarters, and enters the path leading to victory in both worlds; he is favoured in this world and in the world beyond.
Upon the dissolution of the body, after death, he is born in a happy heavenly realm

Biorhythms and Mood

Biorhythms and Mood

This piece is an addendum to my theory of one gravity and one brain human beings.

I am writing this as a non medical man and not as a shaman. There are lot of bogus shamans on the internet and this piece is a direct antithesis to some of them. Of course, I am against claims of some Citizen Scientists. Beginning of this piece has minimum physiological facts and I will end up on psychological domains, at the end with Ayahuaska aka Magic Mushroom.

Unfortunately, I could not include these physiological facts in my book on alcohol.

I have enumerated six levels of alcohol poisoning, in that book.

I would end up with Buddhist attitude to Meditation and Priti and Sukka realms.

This piece is relatively short but content is very intense.

We are Guys and Girls of 24 hour cycle.

This cycle varies from hemisphere to hemisphere and being a guy from the tropics, I feel the difference acutely and it took me nearly 3 months to get my biorhythm  acclimatized to Australia.

This is of course, having been in the United Kingdom as an adult.

The age factor is also in operation.

Coming to biorhythm it is divided into 3.

1. Sleep or hibernation phase.

2. Biological or 8 hour food cycle.

3. Brief high capacity intellectual activity.

Let me come to the physiology base.

We have to keep our blood sugar at very narrow limits and thankfully our pancreas and insulin save us from any disruption in our brain activity.

If one is a diabetic, I pity him or her but this piece will let one control one's own physiology within the safe limits and may even avoid adult onset diabetes.

The base line is sugar level and maintaining one's Citric Acid Cycle.

Light Breakfast with Tea is mandatory.

Piece of Banana does the rest.

Banana has lot of sugars including fructose.

They are hexose sugars and banana also has pentose sugars which are good for nucleic acid metabolism.

Banana, has lot of amino acids.

My recommendation is at least one banana,  a day, if one is following one meal a day, regime.

If one takes two main meals two banana a day is my recommendation.

What banana does is it to maintain the blood sugar within safe limits, in between meals.

There are no insulin swings and no hunger episodes and the satiety cycle is well maintained.

This regime is for the tropics and for colder climates and for winter months a  better protocol is necessary.

Most animals have brown fat in their system and can hibernate in winter months.

Humans have lost both brown fat and hibernation ability.

My advice is for the guys and girls to move into tropics during winter months, of course, those who can afford.

For the rest without gas from Russia and economic downturn one has to bite the teeth and grin with anguish.

Glucose is a taboo for no valid reason for normal adults and most sugars are metabolised by diastases.

The major culprit of long term brain damage is alcohol and its associated hypoglycemia

Any form of alcohol upsets the sugar metabolism.

One dose of alcohol causes ketosis in the liver (fatty change) and  upsets the sugar and fat metabolism within the next 24 hours.

Alcohol also, upsets the melatonin induced biorhythm which is related to daily exposure to sunlight.

Alcohol is no good for sugar metabolism.

My belief is that alcohol induced hypoglycemia has some relationship to euphoria that the partaker enjoys, at the onset of the binge.

This effect of euphoria wanes off almost immediately and brings the urge to drink more.

I have enjoyed wines in my life and I did not realize I was a low grade unconfirmed addict. I have successfully weaned myself off.

Good cup of tea is my an antidote.

Tea is not addictive but a mild stimulant.

Unlike coffee which is addictive, tea has lot of antioxidants which is good for the heart.

The best suppler of antioxidants is virgin chocolates, the fat and sugars in chocolates are not healthy.

Chocolates have over 300 micro-ingredients which non of the Ayurvedic Medicine can supplement.

Dark chocolate is expensive.

Virgin coconut oil is the best to avoid dementia in old age.

1. Euphoria

2. Ecstasy

3. Illusion

4. Delusion

The effects of Ayahuaska I will deal with later.

I need to replenish my level of tea in my system before I could enlarge upon this short article.

I am a life long skeptic of euphoria induced by any drug including alcohol

Euphoria induced by any form of drug is temporary and leads to addiction.

Any form of addiction including tobacco is harmful to health.

Let me be brief about neurophysiology.

To begin with our understanding of neurophysiology is still at primitive stage, medically speaking.

Pain is in one end.

Happiness is the other.

Neither pain nor happiness is the base or homeostasis. Balance or homeostasis is necessary for heart, kidney, brain and liver.

This homeostasis is managed by our brain.

Meditation is not a therapeutic option.

My bone of contention is any drug induced euphoria or ecstasy upsets the ability of the brain to bring homeostasis to the entire system including brain itself.

I am not a psychiatrist and I refuse to delve into esoteric realms and psychiatric problems.

However, I have no objections for psychiatrists using these esoteric drugs for patients having followed proper clinical studies. But I have my reservation about the inability to reproduce these benefits in clinical settings.

These experiences are not objective but subjective.

I sympathize with the individual cases but I pity for their addiction.

If one can avoid any extraneous support it is the best one can achieve.

In my case, I have never given these substances (sedatives) to adult patients except preoperative preparation. Having said that sometime a simple dose of voltaren makes people with renal colic worship me in clinical setting. I think voltaren has addictive properties.

Regarding Ayahuaska, I have given a good account in my books on alcohol and mind.

One may refer the chapters on Ayahuaska for in depth analysis.

My summary goes like this.

1. It is related to its dose.

A little bit brings in calmness.

Large dose brings in ecstasy bypassing state of euphoria.

Ecstasy for me an overboard experience.

One becomes Godly.

Overtly loving and feeling of artificial oneness is humanely unnatural.

This is seen especially in Godly intervention in Hinduism.

There is no inter-phase of euphoria as seen with alcohol.

Often it is the hard drug addicts who seem to benefit from Ayahuaska.

Its use for ordinary guys and girls is dangerous.

These citizen scientists have no role in the wider world.

That is my opinion.

Even authentic scientists should be vary and beware of the unintended pitfalls.

They should use astute judgement when giving opinions on substances.

One level of Ayahuaska may be medical.

The other level or the next level is spiritual.

Shamans use this dose level for induction of entry level guys.

It is a dangerous trap.

With that goes the monetary benefits.

With or without monetary benefits addicts are created.

That is no good.

The perceived higher level of conscious is an illusion that ends up in delusion.

Illusion and delusion are antithetic to Buddhist View of Reality.

I would end up with Buddhist outlook.

Ayahuaska is an antithesis to Buddhist teaching.

Alertness.

Awareness.

Objectiveness are fundamental to Buddhist Meditation.

Priti and Sukka may be addictive to the final goal of Upekka or Equanimity.

Seela, Sati, Samadhi and Pragna are the four steps to the final goal.

Ayahuaska has no place in Buddhism.

Buddhism is not based on addiction but on understanding of the human predicament based on "Uncertainty Principle".

Addiction is an impediment to goal seeking nature and behaviour  of Buddhism.

Metta

Karuna

Muditha

Upekka are fundamental to Buddhism.

Desperation Attack of NATO Leads to 3 Oreshnics Hitting Targets

I am not a War Strategist.

My analysis of previous Wars makes me to believe 3 Oreshnics will reach their targets, in due course.

They are going to be NATO targets.

It is very easy to start a war.
It is very difficult to end a war.

I no not think it will be Nuclear.

We do not know how many Oreshnics Russia possesses.

The end will depend on how many spare Oreshnics Russia willing to keep in it's store.

My Guess
Finland
Poland
England

These three countries may have to live in high alert and start preparing deep bunkers for regular living.

Nuclear War means the end of this World.

We do not have to worry about Iran and Israel which were supposed to be the easy triggers for Military Industrial Complex of America.

I think UK made the wrong choice and move.
Facilitating and saying Yes to Mad Zelensky is their folly.

I have no clue why British hate Russians so much.
Nothing but paranoia.

Paranoia is an incurable disease.

Another Pandemic and Indian Vaccines Trials

I think Ceylon Government made a big mistake by sending vacation notice to Ravi Kumudesh.

He is now exonerated from exposing the bad status of the Department of Health.

1. Quality Control is done by Indians on Indian  products.
One cannot trust them.
Intentions to hide their fallacies are already underway.

2. Blind MOUs with Indians companies are already signed by our President.
He was hoodwinked by Modi.

3. Buffer stocks are not available.

4. Test kits are old.
PCR kits have to be for the new virus variant.

5. We used to follow British Standards, not anymore.

6. WHO depends on Indian companies.

7. We know what happened with the Coronavirus protocol that WHO had with China.

6. The New virus is spreading in China and India.

7. Influenza virus peaks in Winter months.
Coronavirus is a varient of Influenza.
It is difficult to distinguish Rhinovirus from Coronavirus.

Testing is the only way.

8. Other problems.
Dengue is raising it's head.
Chikengunya was a Virus that started in Tanzania in 1952 has come to the Asian continent.
Vaccine is still experimental.
Zika virus has similar symptoms.
All are mosquito born viruses.

9. Aedes egypticus and albopictis is prevelent in Ceylon.

10. Then there are Encephalitis Virus spread by other mosquitoes
Culex quinquefasciatus is the renaming of Culex fatgans.

11. I had a big book on mosquitoes and was in the process of writing a simple book on mosquitoes.
I left the big book in Ceylon and brought only a few hand written pages.
Now, that book intended will never come to publication.

12. I have given up my book on viruses, too.
