I have decided to erase Garuda Linux and install CachyOS since Cachy OS has EXT4 file option.
It takes ages to UPDATE and the Kernel is pretty old (the Free Image) and has to virtually update every file of the Kernel and it SUCKS.
In other words dracut compile every file on Installation (Old Debian strategy) of updates.
If YOU do not have a fast Internet Please do not try.
Background theme is dull and dark and it is not a pleasant experience.
For the sake of Linux, I am testing it and I have ample time with War raging in Middle East. I am home bound by default.
It is ARCH based and I Love Octapi Package Manager.
It is a Gamer Linux.
It is developed by an Indian Guy probably domiciled in Germany and certified my German SDS which is an Industrial Standard Institute.
Its KDE Image is 3.3GB and it does need at least 30GB in the /root partition.
I tried 20GB and failed.
By the way, it uses only Btrfs file system and that is its BASIC Problem to begin with Violating Linux Fundamentals where interchange with other File Systems is made impossible. In other words working like a commercial company.
My involvement here is to test it Gaming Capability. If does not provide free games in its First Time installation.
I am going to ditch it, if it ask for money for its games. I have been avoiding Linux games after Valve and Steam came into existence.
If you are installing it along with other Linux Distributions instaled with EXT4 partitions, Install it last of all, since EFI file does not configure booting ARCH configuration files.
It uses Btrfs and I HATE Btrfs because of its redandacy capability that violates even the ARCH Principle, especially, CachyOS where One file for One functionality stands true.
Basically, this is one man show and being a CEYLONESE I have inborn allergy to anything Indian.
I did not have partition that big and most I had was my major DEBIAN GNOME of 25GB. I sacrificed /home partition, /var and /opt but kept only /boot partition.
It immediately UPDATED which included 514 files. Immediately after, installed AbiWord, Audacity and BlueFish using Octapi.
It correctly configured my GRUB Boot Loader. However, it did not boot REBORN OS. I going to reinstall it.
For the first time I have there KDE desktops. The others are KDE Neon User and BlueStar Linux.
I have 2 GNOME Desktops to match.
Debian GNOME
Reborn GNOME
Linux Mint Cinnamon.
Well everybody is supporting KDE and I have to put up with that.
I downloaded GNOME Image and it is installable.
I am going to try install a few games which I do not have with other systems.
It needs 4GB RAM, I think minimum 16GB if one wants to play games. It supports NVIDIA graphic cards by default.
