BrueStar Linux-Update

BrueStar Linux-Update

It is long time since I revisited BlueStar Linux.

Configuring Octopi is the most difficult part.

That is to get Abiword Installed.

I ended up installing Gnome, too.

Yes, I have manged to live with Octopi, it a very elegant package manager which gives a running commentary  or output visually and on the terminal

Downside

1. As always all KDE desktops are slow to boot up

2. Gnome takes about 7000MB but Blue-Star takes staggering 500,0000.

It filled up my 20GB Ext4 /partition with 100% .

By removing over 50 tiny KDE applications I saved 229MB.

This time round I have no gnome but has functioning Cutefish desktop and IceWM Window manger.

Yes, Cutefish is also very beautiful and applications are arranged in alphabetical order and is much elegant than Netrunner KDE desktop

3. No update mode but Octopi has a tiny notification button.

It is the new image.

The image size is bigger and updated.

Getting WiFi was the most difficult.

After fiddling with the Setting, I finally get it going.

WiFi is my Acid Test.

If WiFi is not configured which most of the Legacy OS including old Puppy Linux fail, I give up.

Since I had done this before may be at least two years ago, it was easy going.

I was into ARCH Linux, ittle over two years, now.

BlueStar was the most beautiful.

I even gave up even NetRunner .

I got all the browsers from Dill, Falcon to Opera to Vivaldi.

Only missing browser was Brave but not a big issue.

One has to be hard nut to configure Blue Star Linux, not easy as Reborn OS.

It has lot of applications preinstalled that why I favour it.

Only additional application I needed was Abiword.

I cannot survive without Abiword.

Overall, I am happy that I have for the first time a functioning KDE Desktop.

Basically KDE does not have software repository and it depends on Flatpak repository to me which is a PAIN.

Thank YOU guys and Girls of BlueStar Linux.
