Kick the Cricket (Chalk) Bucket, Ceylon Style

Kick the Bucket is short term for somebody, unexpectedly dying.

Ceylon Cricket is not dead yet.

Our Selection Committee is trying hard to kill it.

First let me say something about the Chalk Bucket for a newbee in cricket.

Chalk was used in good old days to paint the  cricket boots.

Nowadays it is used to paint the various lines in the middle of the wicket.

Coming to cricket politics, if we used the Ground Boy (who paint the batting and bowling creases) instead of Angelo Matthews, Ground Boy would nave batted better, fielded better and would have hit a few sixes at number 6 position.

Ground Boys and the Ground women who look after the grass pitch, on the middle are fondly remembered, here.

Their services are very important.

Angelo deprived the place of a young player.

If he is mature enough he would have believed so and would have declined playing  and thus allowing a younger player to fit in at number 6.

Besides, he would have preserved his averages.

He still has time to quit this tournament faking an injury.

Faking injury is his forte and his modus operandum!

If he really wants to be useful, he should push the heavy roller with the groundsman.

That would certainly improve his fitness.

I generally won't watch cricket, if Angelo is playing.

I watched his innings today, only to write this piece.

Regarding Dimuth Karunaratne, he was one who (with other younger players) got us out of the doldrums and qualified Ceylon for this tournament, playing all the vital qualifying round games.

Netherlands and Ceylon qualified and unfortunately West Indies were left out.

I would have preferred West Indies qualifying, instead of Netherland.

Dimuth was unceremoniously dished out in favour of Kusal Perera (who was a pain to watch), unjustly.

Chris Silverwood should have played Dimuth Karunaratne at Number 6 instead of Angelo (when really, some of the fast bowlers are bowling at the tail end).

It would have been a good spoil and we would have made 270 runs.

We need to train a young guy to join Pathum Nissanka, instead of Kusal Perera.

I hope Dasun Shanka would recover soon and keep leading the team.

Cricket is all about runs and wickets and nothing more.

I am hoping to write a book in English, on the plight (betrayal) of Ceylon  Cricket from Politics to bad Administration.

Kick the Bucket Syndrome of Ceylon Cricket would be its Title.

By the way, I hate the Women Commentator  who should be sent to comment on Kindergarten Cricket Commentary.

I won't watch any more of this tournament but there are lot of old pensioners whose pastime is watching cricket.

Few of them would end up, with heart attacks if not Myopathy of Coronavirus Vaccination.

According to the reports, there is a higher incident of strokes, in vaccinated guys and girls.

Beware!
