Wisdom vs Meditation vs Linux CODE
I am not a Meditator.
KDE takes 3GB and GNOME takes 1.5GB for installation.
Actual hard drive space for KDE is twice as much occupying 6GB.

Linux guys have not put this weakness of Microsoft to light.
Now is the time to highlight why we give priority to Microsoft.
It is unfair in legal sense and open market economy.
It also should learn how to boot from any sector of choice other than Master Boot Record.
Nobody should give the copyright inheritance of the first sector to any Linux or Microsoft distribution.
It should be with the customer or the user.
It is a monopoly.
Why computer wizard did not expose this weakness to light is my grouse.
They only aggravate the situ by only recognizing windows and dos sometimes and invariably gave Microsoft the first place.
This is a culpable mistake Linux developers perpetuate by letting Microsoft taking the starting block.
Why give the head start to Microsoft?
I have found only three distributions doing it right
They are PCLinux (the new distributions now have a problem not including other format options – other types of disk formatting including DOS), Mephis, Debian, Suse , Mandriva, Redhat and Fedora.
Redhat had the best GRUB including RAIDs .
Still SuSe has the best partition tool, even though it restricts itself to 15 partitions.
Why I do not know?
All the other Live and installable CDs I checked had problem recognizing other Linux distributions. But they invariable recognized Microsoft by default or is it fear induced by Microsoft by its global propaganda or is it both.
Why not recognize its sisters and brothers breathing over the neck to have a good start.
Most pertinent question is why Microsoft cannot see with their "eyes open wide" Linux or other partitions.
They are totally blind to independence an market forces.
Where is universal brotherhood?
Where is universal comradeship?
There are two reasons.
1. One is boot loader they use is LiLo.
2. The other is that they do not write a script (copy of the booting sequence in the header files of the root partition).
They all write on the M.B.R while giving priority to Microsoft almost by default or deceit.
Ubuntu do this, all Ubuntu derivatives including attractive Mint do this culpable offense.
It is time to wake up and put this right.
Suse recognizes only 15 partitions.
There used to be over 60 partitions those days before the RAID and volumes came into existence.
I used to have at least 8 (2 windows) distributions bootable on my hard disk barely 80 GB.
Those days Linux were not fat and heavy and some of them could stay on 2 GB partition.
I used to modify boot sector by various means to get all running without a problem with GRUB as the boot loader.
Now the hard disks are over 300 or 500 we must go back to the all traditions and have at least 30 partitions recognizable.
My current Toshiba hard disk of 320GB has 29 partitions.
Then I can boot Microsoft, Apple Mac and Open Free BSD as part-timers with Linux preferably my own assembly called God Bless You All (G.B.Y.A) (thanks to all the guys including Puppy Linux) and I will throw a party even the all mighty God has directed me to the grave for rest after the party.
Recovery Is Possible or Impossible and cohabitation is a must in the coffin for all of us at the end.

I am almost completing 18 months come end of March of downloading and testing Linux Live CDs and lately few of the DVDs.
All good things have to come to an end and
with Sinhala Linux coming to the scene without fanfare or funfair after a
long delay, I will be concentrating on that instead of the Live CDs but
with occasional reference to them (not full time as it used to be for
nearly 18 months).
Real reason for this venture was the boring one year election campaign and as a diversion tactics of an intellectual nature.
The things I learned was enormous.
Sinhala Linux coming at the tail end was quite a surprise.
It looks as some of my critical comments
are taken with serious attention and lot of my audience is not
Sri-Lankans but Americans and far away web browsers.
I believe my comments were only
academic and may be some times constructive but lot of things not
intended by me has / have happened.
In the Grand Finale, I would like to list few.
1. Multilingual Distributions are coming from EU and South America which is pretty good.
2. French is also becoming a leading language of distributions.
3. Light
weight and multiple editions are hitting the bench.,emulating PCLimux.
Sabayon (Gentoo), Salix (Slackware), Aptosid (Debian), Fedora (Redhat)
and Zenwalk are examples.
4. Some dormant like Korora coming out of the attic.
5. Distributions are looking at others to emulate or improve the Linux image.
6. Dominance of Ubuntu is diminishing and Ubuntu also looking for an image lift.
7. Redhat has come out of hibernation.
8. Debian is showing its prowess and slowly and rightly embracing the changes.
Lot of live editions including Sinhala Linux edition.
9. Flame wars are becoming less intense but critical and constructive.
10. With all these I am becoming rejuvenated at my twilight years and old and young are coming together for a Grand Finale.
11. Puppy (front pocket) and Knoppix (piggyback) remain my favorites.
12. Pendrives are ubiquitous.
Only criticism I have is the children programs (except gCompris and few others) and games have been neglected.
Morphix, Myah and Adios are slow to wake up from hibernation or slumber.
Young chaps take them out of the attic and
put some for grandpa influence on the map and make some really
grandiose games and creative activities (for children and grandpa like
me) and reinvigorate the Linux spirit of the yesteryear).
Please note that this is an update for a post on parafox and it is very easy to find a daily topic to write daily unlike in the West but it is very difficult to find a true story and I have decided to write a few of my fantasies related to my work with Apaya and Heaven.
I have not decided whether to join Apaya or Heaven but like a true diplomat, I prefer to shuttle in between them not knowing whether it is a fantasy or a real life situation.
I am bit confused but following is a true story and factually correct about E-Governance and downloading for a fact.
Uploading is no better.
Comment I wrote for a National Daily not published due to its banal content.
It is very difficult to differentiate a lie from a the word E-governance in Sri-Lanka.
I prefer E-Governance for a white lie because it is like WiKi Leakes very difficult to differentiate whether an American (for that matter any European diplomat) diplomat is talking through his Mouth or MOUSE or ASS.
I think they are trained not to talk from birth but to lie by all means.
Unlike our diplomats who do not know how to lie like Goerge Washinton in his prime and if they do lie it looks just like plain truth and nobody including Bun Ki Moon believes it a lie or not a lie.
Whereas our politicians are trained to lie from birth and it is that their birth right.
If one cannot lie he or she is not good enough to be in the parliament or President House.
Average Buddhists except Colombo 7 elite do not lie as a habit but only on demand by politicians at election meetings and political rallies.
Our national papers for their own survival lie on a regular basis like our George Bush they do not know how to tell the truth in plain English or Sinhala.
We are now portrayed as the heaven on Earth but if one goes to Batticoloa or North East the plain truth is evident in abundance.
This is just a big joke. i.e. E-Governance in Sri-Lanka is a plain lie but what I state below is truth and nothing but truth.
It takes almost 7 days to download 1.1 GB of Kororoaa of out of 1.5 GB and god only knows how long it takes to finish.
I was down with a minor flu and for three days I managed to download Light House Puppy of 223 MB through Firefox and in spite of the computer being on overnight for three days. I am trying to download PocketWriter-Salix and it is stuck at 280 MB currently and Saline was disconnected without completing three times.
Now I am talking about Saline like President Reagon our Health minister could not say the difference between a truth and a lie.
Our Health Statistics is the Biggest Lie of all which the WHO is very fond of exaggerating!
It is 3AM in the morning and I got up to empty my bladder.
Checked to see K-torrent is working (do the downloads only after midnight).
NO.
I stopped the normal download to read the English daily but Apache at their site is broken.
K-torrent is inactive.
Firefox download speed is below 5KB per seconds.
I pay over Rs.7000/- to Telecom and Rs.10,000/- electricity.
If I save three months of these bills and buy a ticket to Singapore I can download all these in the airport lounge for nothing but in triple not double quick time.
It is a shame that a National Paper not highlighting how Buddhists are downloading porn at Nanasalas.
Even we have 10,00,000 NanaSalas without English we cannot progress in IT industry.
All the alphanumeric characters are in English not Sinhala.
Progress does not come from data or rhetoric.
They come through hard work, dedication and concrete actions!
All my downloads are inactive at 3.30AM and bare bone facts speak for themselves.

Election is all over and every conceivable lie had being utilized for gains.
It is miracle that I survived without hearing loss since the decibel range was higher than the pitch I was used to.
Sometimes I think it is a blessing to be either deaf or blind or both.
Since I am not either this is to revive Punch and Judy not in his style but in boxing style.
It is strange to note that Punch and Judy characters never used Boxer the kids friendly dog nor the the real boxing characters like Cassius Clay (Mohammed Ali), probably fearing American backlash.
I am writing this not expecting any kickbacks from any living soul or any British soul sent to hell by Punch but I have to use English for the strength of the Punch but in boxing style.
I am not even light weight and not even super flyweight to have the physical (I was super bantamweight when I was abroad and having being here for over 5 years gone below the fly weight category without even having a crash course in dieting) presence felt in the ring.
I have to use the English punchlines (send our Buddhist MPs including monks to heaven – not to hell like in UK for them to evoke blessing for the millions of voters who are practically missing a meal-according to health Ministry statistics; they never starve; they actually follow the Buddhist monks principle of eating once a day to go to heaven since Ceylon is not the heaven or paradise that it was known to be) instead for posterity.
The boxing categories including light weight was used by me to address the issue I have with the Microsoft / Open Office Office Package/s which is /are always super heavyweight and tax my computer's limited resources including RAM.
Since I use Linux for my work I do many things (unlike Microsoft Windows) once at the same time (watching Football World Cup-not cricket now- do a distribution download while I do some pep writings like this) and the speed is a factor I rely for efficiency.
I use Abiword Light sometime which is portable too.
I have extended this to my Linux100 writing elsewhere in the Google’s blog spot- just type asoka and paraox- you are instantly there and I want the Linux Developers to produce Light Weight (700 MB. Middle Weight is 1700 MB and anything above is Heavy Weight (especially the commercial versions that tax resources even at boot time) and sometimes useless to say the least.
Just to take some respite from somewhat taxing job (100 is a big issue at my age, even though I have already 200 distributions in my USB hard disc) of testing and writing reviews for the wider web users.
I take life at an easy pace now!
To begin with my Punch Code (in computer terminology) we must have a nurse and a doctor appointed to the parliament.
They must be categorized according to the weight class of the boxers and see how they progress from flyweight to super heavyweight both in weight and money in no time.
Real progress of the country.
My argument for this is that our parliament truly represents the wishes of the population in real terms and numbers.
It truly feel the pulse of the people and rule of the law but not the rulers image.
If we have donkeys in this country surely they should be represented there.
Then we must have an annual contest in front of the Diyawana Oya and get Indian actors to come and face them weight by weight.
Our voters can be used as the Punch Bags or Boxing Bag (it is done almost everyday if you look at the government TV Channel).
It is worth while that they must send a random sample of weight from school leavers for comparison.
But I think that is a waste since our Central Bank has the knack of manipulating any real data into abstruse elements for it to be presented at the Budget at any time of the day or night or if necessary for IMF’s consumption.
But my real punch line is not for the new MPs.
It is for the Ministers who were newly appointed.
It looks as if they are used as the Punch Bags especially the Foreign Minister.
I do not wish who uses them as the Punch Bags.
It is a top secret except for one who is always vociferous in Sinhala for the cameras and destroy anything foreign except the oil he wears on his head.
If seems that boxers use kick balls and kick bags.
I like both of them (kick bag and kick ball) and in football style I can kick them in their vestiges!
