Corruption from systemic to endemic to potential political

Corruption from systemic to endemic to potential political
I am not qualified to expand on this by default but I can formulate a thesis for the young in financial fields to be successful by forging ahead with these strategies.
The least qualification is the degree and it has no value at all only theoretical but no practical know how.
Our mothers an fathers have perfected this at year five entry into National Schools and our schools are the seat of or the institute to learn corruption in style from younger age as young as five years.
I have excluded forces including the Police that only investigate potential rackets but not the established rackets.
I have excluded the Cricket Board and Cricketers since they are the Elite of This country.
But a few words about a guy said to be from UK (putative estimate) and claimed to be a lawyer but no legal experience in winning a single case in UK or Ceylon.
He fills the GAP between the student lawyer and a practicing lawyer.
He was operative from 2017 on YouTube.
His strategy was to collect 20 million from unsuspecting Sri-Lankan expatriates for his SCUM BUG SCHEME (SBS for short similar to S.O.B son of B????) and succeeded claiming half of that.
I can remember only one guy in UK, a guy similar to him apart from our own Sounderanayagam (a minion in this field).
The leader of the Labour Union during Mrs.Thatcher.
He hoodwinked everybody and disappeared to South America (probably) with millions of Labour Union money and Panama was a late offshoot.
That was the end of my sympathy for British Labour Party still limbering under Gerome Corbin.

Corruption in Ceylon
  • Bribery
  • Cronyism
  • Kleptocracy
  • Economics of corruption.
  • Electoral fraud.
  • Nepotism.
  • Slush fund.

    Political scandal
To this I should add the dummy candidate originating from the field of Rugger.

  • Dummy candidates
  • This is the latest vogue Ceylonese can be proud in political history of the world where the ballot paper is printed on scented toilet paper of edible variety.
  • It is so long while waiting for casting the vote one can consume 34 of the 35 candidates and leave only one candidate as the democratically desirable choice of one’s own.

Let me finish with my experience in thew last 24 hours in Ceylon in Kandy, the venerated Buddhist City.
A guy tried to cheat me (I dressed myself like a Foreign Visitor and my disguise worked) Rs.2000 in cash in a HiFi place.
A guy cheated me of Rs. 3000/= on a cheap cellphone (which I am going to return).
A guy cheated me of a Appa (an Egg Hopper) in spite of asking for a receipt.
A stale coffee (probably the coffee strainer was not cleaned properly) in a mug old as me.
    A banana with cadmium poison.
    A banana cake without banana.
A cheese sandwich almost without cheese and the bread was as thin as a toilet paper.
    A toilet paper non absorbent.
A glass of Red Wine without spirits in it but 15% VAT and 2% N.B.T.

The war was finished 10 years ago and we are still paying a TAX named after the WAR of attrition.

    Reproduction

  • Sri Lanka’s banking and finance sector has been treated unfairly by the government when charging taxes from the entities in this sector, experts say.

 This Piece is OLD!

Unlike other companies, barring tobacco and liquor firms, the banks and finance companies pay nearly 60 per cent in taxes to the government. “We pay collectively 60 per cent from our profit before taxes,” a CEO of a finance company told the Business Times.
It turns out that the banking and finance sector pays over US$1billion which translates to around Rs. 160 billion in taxes to the government annually under the present taxation system.
These taxes include 28 per cent in income tax, 15 per cent VAT, 7 per cent debt repayment levy and 2 per cent Nation Building Tax. So it’s 52 per cent in taxes. Bankers say that when computing taxes on a profit before tax base after adding employee salaries etc, it comes to some 57 per cent in taxes.
The reason to tax this sector seems almost sinister. As one CEO put it, it’s almost as if these entities are penalized for doing well.
So how are the banks and finance companies reporting such stellar profits? All major banks and sound finance companies don’t seem to be affected by these taxes. This is so because they invariably pass these taxes on to the customer. As one CEO put it, “ultimately it is the public that suffer with these taxes.”
Another sector expert said that the government treats the banking and finance sector companies like they do with the liquor companies when slapping taxes. This (liquor) sector pays almost 92 per cent in taxes. The expert also added that the government is the major beneficiary of these taxes earning nearly 60 per cent whereas the shareholders get 40 per cent of the profits. “This is not fair. They are taxing the golden goose.”
They urged that the government must not discriminate the sector when taxing. Analysts say that as operating conditions continue to be difficult against a challenging macroeconomic backdrop this regressive taxation is expected to continue to pressure bank performance in the short to medium term.
A CEO of a major bank noted that the government should not target individual sectors or industries just because they are ‘ easy ‘. “The banking and finance sector is easy to target. Successive governments have done so in the past,” he said.
A finance company CEO told the Business Times that each owner of a leased three wheeler costing Rs.400,000 has to pay Rs. 1,500 each month to the finance company.
This means that the finance company has also passed their tax invariably on to the three wheeler owners. Rightly or wrongly this has been done by the companies and the banks. “So the Government’s objective in taxing the banking and finance sector has fallen flat,” he said.

My death wish is not be born again here.

Forms of corruption vary, but include bribery, extortion, cronyism, nepotism, parochialism, patronage, influence peddling, graft, and embezzlement. Corruption may facilitate criminal enterprise such as drug trafficking, money laundering, and human trafficking, though it is not restricted to these activities.

Political corruption (from Wikipedia)

Political corruption is the use of powers by government officials or their network contacts for illegitimate private gain.
Misuse of government power for other purposes, such as repression of political opponents and general police brutality, is also considered political corruption.
Over time, corruption has been defined differently. For example, in a simple context, while performing work for a government or as a representative, it is unethical to accept a gift. Any free gift could be construed as a scheme to lure the recipient towards some biases. In most cases, the gift is seen as an intention to seek certain favors such as work promotion, tipping in order to win a contract, job or exemption from certain tasks in the case of junior employee giving the gift to a senior employee who can be key in winning the favor.
Some forms of corruption – now called "institutional corruption" – are distinguished from bribery and other kinds of obvious personal gain. A similar problem of corruption arises in any institution that depends on financial support from people who have interests that may conflict with the primary purpose of the institution.
An illegal act by an officeholder constitutes political corruption only if the act is directly related to their official duties, is done under color of law or involves trading in influence. The activities that constitute illegal corruption differ depending on the country or jurisdiction. For instance, some political funding practices that are legal in one place may be illegal in another. In some cases, government officials have broad or ill-defined powers, which make it difficult to distinguish between legal and illegal actions. Worldwide, bribery alone is estimated to involve over 1 trillion US dollars annually.
A state of unrestrained political corruption is known as a kleptocracy, literally meaning "rule by thieves".

My Political Prediction of Cellphones!

 My Political prediction of cellphones!

Why did you give up alcohol?

If somebody asks me this question, I have two ready made answers and a few more thought provoking ones.

It effects my memory and my sleep.

I had a fantastic memory as a kid (which many of my friendly fellow beings did not have) and I did not have to take notes.

Equally, I only took short notes in strips of paper not A 4 size but that fitted in my front shirt pocket.

That is also things or the idea I heard for the first time (did not believe in them first hand).

Eg; Evolution

I loved my sleep and my mother would not wake me up.
She was an early riser.

The reasons outside those two are many.

Recent tax imposition which was a draconian law for the liberals.

I only prefer to drink alcohol not taxes.

The effect of alcohol on liver, especially on feel good factors (hormones) of chocolates is an important discovery for me.

Fact that, alcohol hijacks the important biochemical pathways in the liver and depletes micro-elements is another reason.

Alcohol turns non carcinogens to carcinogen and the vise versa.

It is a double edge sword.

My current intention is to highlight the good things about alcohol.
The book will be published after the election when voter goes back to his routine mode of drowning aspirations with ample alcohol.

Happiness (Ecstasy) on one side and cancer on the other.

Cirrhosis and depletion of glycogen are few others.
Sugar metabolism and early morning hypoglycemia can be mortal in your sleep for the elderly over 60.

One does not have to be a diabetic.

It effects driving skills and a common cause of accidents.

It is a universal cell poison, including brain cells.

Two points I missed and not mentioned in the description of alcohol side effects in web pages and sites are;

Compulsive gambling and legal problems related to money matters.

Like politicians (new breed and the old) they can become compulsive liars (to buy the next drink or to buy basic needs including food for survival).

This is where domestic problems arise, including violence.

The debts increase and responsibility decreases.

There are many more to fill a book of decent size.

Benefits of Meditation and Lapses in My Memory

I have reproduced a piece here I have written 4 years ago,
the reason being that I forgot all my bank cards PIN numbers for a brief period.

I used the A account's Pin Number to the B accounts's Pin number and after three attempts bank inactivated all my cards.
Mind you, I luckily had an account in a different Bank and survived until my new card arrived.

All this due to enjoying my retirement and paucity of use of the daily routines.
So I immediately, joined my account with a family member.

The other thing that one forgets is the passwords for email accounts.
I have addressed that scenario in length elsewhere.
Just like forgetting PIN numbers and passwords if one abruptly stops p
racticing

Meditation, whatever the benefits accrued will dissipate in no time.

That is why I recommend (and practice MM) Moment and Frequent Meditation (mental) exercises.

Having said that I have not found a solution for lapses in my memory.
I still do not carry a Memory Note with me.
Now my NEW method is counting the the lapses of my memory on daily routines.

How many lapses a day?

That seems to keep my memory fine tuned.
I sometime forget to fill the bowl with water for my dog.

He is totally blind and when this happens he seems to go in circles round the house to bring attention to its needs.
He reminds me of the daily routine which I forget and the recurrent lapses in my memory.

My dog has a fantastic memory (in our age he is nearing 100 years) and still behaves like a 7 year old kid and won't do anything to annoy me.

That is the difference of a pet and a human soul.

Humans when old becomes very grumpy for no reason.

There is lot to learn from a dog. Sadly he is no more and in heaven and asked Maha Brahma to act as my guardian angle.
That appointment is pending.

This is part of the introduction to my Book on Meditation.

Benefits of Meditation

There are many claims of benefit of meditation often poorly substantiated.
Some of these benefits can be obtained without resort to meditation but simple change in life style.
Suppose a meditator changes his food habits drastically say to a vegetarian diet and practice meditation as a routine and finds that his blood cholesterol is lowered significantly, and then if he or she attributes it to the practice of meditation, there is a big flow in that argument.
One is not sure whether the change in diet did effect the blood cholesterol level or the practice of meditation or both did have independent or summation effect on the level of blood cholesterol. Unless one take a random sample and assess the partial correlation, then only one can attribute combination or independent effects on a particular quantity tested.
Qualitative changes cannot be tested since one cannot quantify the results. In actual fact the effect of meditation is often qualitative and very individualistic and one cannot feel the same effect a different mediator would have felt at the time of his or her meditative stance or instance/s.
This is very true as far as the Jhana States are concerned.
With that reservation in mind one can describe the many unmeasurable benefits attributed to meditation in Buddhist literature.

Metta Meditation

In Buddhist literature it is claimed that one who practises Metta Meditation falls to sleep easily and get up in the morning peacefully.

It is wished in the last three lines of the Sutta.
By reciting Karaniya Metta Sutta one should feel physically and psychologically better, one is made free of illness and one attains the highest goal or victory.
That is of course the Nibbana.
They may be just wishful thinking or one may actually feels better physically and psychologically.
It is also claimed that the natural immunity to cancer and infections are increased by practicing Metta Meditation.
This is something Venerable Ajhan Brahma Wanso preaches in most of his teaching.

Present Moment Meditation

This is something that is worth discussing here.
It has direct relationship to day to day activities.
I believe it has significant contribution to the efficiency of one’s trained skill, simply due to the intense concentration one may apply in his or her work skill at hand (without any distraction).
It is simply the focused attention to the task at hand.
If one is focused on any work, the efficiency goes up by leaps and bounds.
This is very well shown in management training.
When focused attention is combined with attitude to work and other measurable increase in environmental components the work output and the efficiency levels improve.
This is something shop or floor manager can use in day to day basis.
It is called a Quality Drill.
It does not matter how one qualifies the content or the output but the efficiency of the skill concerned improve by both repeated practice and focused attention to the moment of the activity.

Samatha Meditation

There is no specific measurable benefits of Samatha Bhavana or meditation except the attainment of the four goals or paths of entry to Nibbana,
Buddhist spiritual goal is stream entry through development of Jhanas four in this life and 8 in celestial life.
Smatha probably is better for those who are less intelligent (One who is not able to master the finer scientific points in Dhamma).

Vipassana Meditation

This the highest goal of Buddhist meditative practice.
It is claimed that all states of Jhana can be attained by Vipassana Bhavana or Meditation. I may be wrong in this assertion but that is what is spread among the lay persons without full knowledge or the understanding of mediation.
But when I looked at the terminology, it is said that Vipassana Bhavana would not contribute to absorption states.
This (Vipassana) is called the gaining in insight by direct contemplation and vision.
Only in Samatha Bhavana one attains the Jhana absorption levels up to four.
Only when an aspirant has gained the higher Jhana level that one could develop the five kinds of supernatural powers (Abhiñña) the divine eye, divine ear, recall of past births, thought-reading and various psychic powers i.e. walk on water.
The attainment of the supernatural powers is not the real goal of Buddhism.
The attainment of these powers may actually be a distraction or hindrance to a true aspirant or a pathfinder of Buddhist path of glory.
The ability to absorb into Jhana states should not be the goal of Buddhist meditation.
The Jhana states have no hindrance and the Jhana/s could be the way forward of stream entry.
The practice of meditation may bring many benefits and they are difficult to quantify or qualify except perhaps the benefit of present moment of meditation or focus which should be practiced without a label of a particular religion.
It is when one has labels and targets or goals of attainment, the practice of meditation becomes a commercial enterprise of undesirable consequences, ignoring the correct but simple way of development of the mental culture.
I am one who believes that mediation has value in all wakeful hours of the day.
The only exception is when one is asleep and when one dreams.
I am one who talks about dreams and write about dreams and their physiological value is unparalleled only by the practice of meditation in the wakeful state.
The meditation practice is the awareness of the wondering mind and its taming.
That is the Buddhist way.
The goal is not achieving of miracle powers, even though they may or may not come as a byproduct.
Sleeping (and dreaming) is the practice of letting the mind go into an unobtrusive and unhindered state in which the mind is unaware of the physiological inputs that operate in random manner with aberrations of awareness (of the totality) but with interludes of dreaming cycles.
On the other hand meditation is to “let go the attachments” one has with all the mental faculties both sensual and mind centered.

Goals of Buddhist Meditation

The goal is the spiritual attainment (Jhana states can be a byproduct) and stream entry by progressive cultivation of meditation basically by four common methods (there are many more).

1. Metta Meditation.

2. Samatha Meditation with Kasina or various Kamatahans.

3. Vipassana Meditation.

4. Moment Meditation (my simple creative method of short durations of multiple attempts).
This is adequately dealt by Venerable Ajhan Brahma Wanso, in the book "Happiness Through Meditation". It is also published as “Meditation, Bliss and Beyond”.
It is the best book currently available on Meditation in general and my intention here is to make it more of global nature and take the religious tag at the moment of its use.

Memory and Meditation

I want to share a drill I practice on day to day basis.
This is especially because, I am beginning to lose my memory and there are short lapses infrequent though, but enough to raise alarm bells on my part lately.
Once I forgot all my password for bank cards briefly.
This was during our long industrial action when I had a laid back approach to life in general and sleep in particular.
I was not having an adequate sleep (totally engrossed in Linux downloads and testing the isos) at night.
This coincided with forgetting of passwords for half a dozen emails and Linux forum passwords.
This shook my inner senses and I now have a ready made retrieval method based on memory drill.
The combination of Metta Meditation and Moment Meditation have worked wonders for me since then.
I now even have a simple protocol to remember 16 number Visa Card.
The memory loss was partly due to gray matter losing its material and the neural networks not recharging to peak levels, probably due to old age (this handicap is seriously encroaching my body parts, if not the brain).
Metta meditation makes one sleeps well not in one go but in two short spells (Night is the shortest spell when I do most of my work to avoid mosquito menace. The mosquitoes make me aware of my lack of Metta Meditation).
Our dog is the target animal for Metta.
Mosquitoes is the antidote to Metta.
Then in the morning I have a brief 5 minutes of Moment Meditation practice at the end of it, I have a mental list of 10 things or map out the tasks to do for the day.
If the list go up to 20, I do it in two spells like my sleep.
A morning list and an evening list.
That has worked well for the last two years and I still do not carry a piece of paper with all the tasks.
If I have to carry a piece of paper to remind me the day to day work, I think I should say Good Bye and take first steps for the next round of birth.
That is on top of my wish list.
Since, I have not yet achieved stream entry, in spite of my mediation efforts, that will eventually happen (the demise not the stream entry) and is the only viable option left for me.
There is a simple addition to that wish list.
No electronic aids or tinkle to alert me of the wish list or missing tasks.
I do not use a cell phone by default.

I do not want a gadget to master my brain.
I rather "Master My Brain" instead, without a phone alert or a piece of paper.
I wonder, how long I can practice it?
PS;
Having said that I bought three new cellphones for half the price of Samsung top end models.
My prediction is all thew electrical items including cellphones go up in price after the election and import restriction whichever power that may come to power.
Currently cellphones have gone down in price significantly.
My advice is to buy one or two now.
I used buy the cheapest in Singapore and throw it to the dustbin at the Singapore airport, if I do not meet a Singaporean Ceylonese (this habit was the follow up feature of me throwing the bleeper into the dustbin on Friday evening, in UK)
What I really like is the GreenTel with Android Oreo.
Nokia is my second best (mind you they were the first to come out with this addictive item in 1980s with Telecoms regulatory changes in UK).
They were the size of a good size brick then!

Android versions list A to Z:

  1. Android 1.5: Android Cupcake
  2. Android 1.6: Android Donut
  3. Android 2.0: Android Eclair
  4. Android 2.2: Android Froyo
  5. Android 2.3: Android Gingerbread
  6. Android 3.0: Android Honeycomb
  7. Android 4.0: Android Ice Cream Sandwich
  8. Android 4.1 to 4.3.1: Android Jelly Bean
  9. Android 4.4 to 4.4.4: Android KitKat

There is a guy in the opposition who has (convicted) five IDs and 25 Sim Cards and spreading political lies in various names.

Beware!

Nature's Secrets

The physics of nature is simple but cannot be reproduced.
The beauty of tendrils of creepers and their adaptation to the climbing stalk is remarkable.
Given a metal stalk it's strength is almost equivalent to steel.
Its lack of strength is compensated by tight coiling.
I tried to pull a tightly wound tendril down but the tendril was torn.
I pull it upwards and it came out smoothly.
This arrangement makes climbing pretty easy but holding steadfast against the wind and the strength of the metal.
Chains, springs, strings and zips are man made duplications but not as elegant as in the nature's world.

Rap(e) to Ars(e)

This post is related to article I bought yesterday.
Its name is Ars Mite.
I changed it to Ars Mate but immediately hit a Brain Wave and decided to the vogue of Ars(e) Might was currently in fashion.
To link these two I need a chain (the touts or the Gold Chain People).
That gives me some entry into real physics, the spring theory, string theory and my latest my ZIP theory of Dark Energy.
To zip Rap(e) and Ars(e) one need a gold chain thieves politically.
I must relate a story told to me by one of my colleagues who came across a real story where a guy had shoved in a tooth brush through the arse and the recovery of the brush (not a gold tooth) was a difficult procedure without harming the anal sphincter or the rectum (place where water is absorbed by active ion transfer) which this guy used for an un-physiological act, I am told only sheep's practice this in the wild.
Our conversation went on like this.
Was this a guy local?
Why was his response.
I told him, well our guys use the left hand for wiping the butt end and shoving a tooth brush with left hand is difficult,  I mean you understand it in physiological terms.
He said it was and American guy.
He said he would have used the right hand.
I said No to get into my vital entry point to homosexuality behaviour.
I told him his consort used the brush to clean it and see his internal parts could accommodate with a tight entry at the rectum.

This guy had a big phallus.
My friend (a Christian with good faith and heterosexual) blushed and the conversation ended up abruptly.
For me rectum is to empty and not to load anything.
The way the politics is unloading in this country there are only three categories.

Rap(e) people.
Ars(e) people.
The facilitator, the Chain (gold chain snatchers) people

How stupid our political leaders except perhaps Sir John KOTALAWALA

How stupid our political leaders except perhaps Sir John KOTALAWALA

I was reading book on Wisdom (not political but general) and hit upon the idea of commoner garden topic (both putative leaders and general lumpen citizens) of stupidity.
To begin with we would have let the British to do some development like in Singapore.
I loved the word LUMPEN which I learned from a friend sociologist.
We were not only stupid but immature to ask for freedom when our balance of payments were high due to the end of the World War II.
We had Air Ceylon (not Mihin or Hemin Lanka) and all the pilots left after independence and created the Singapore Airline for the British!

We asked the British to leave (SWRD) the strategic defense system they created based on Ceylon and ended up creating first the JVP and later LTTE and having a fleet of two or three war time planes when LTTE emerged.

I believe SWRD read the book by Bertrand Russel (“Power” but not “Why I am not a Christian”) and used language and religion for his own demise by a monk (a saffron clothed guy helped by a Monk living with a female minister).

We had Indira creating (not CIA) the LTTE to undermine our development to the level of Singapore.
We changed Ceylon to Sri-Lanka and our tea trade declined and our planters (due to nationalization of plantation by Sirimavo) went to Kenya and Kenyan tea fetch high prices currently.
It was the stupid (Kumar David my excuses for attacking NM and the clan) leftists who attacked Sir John in Bandung when he raised the alarm bells of Communist dictatorships including Mao Tsetung who killed millions of Chinese)

I leave the current politicians until their demise to write an obituary and the death of our democracy (Daughter of ?, Mother of Liberty, interned at the Diyawannawa, died of the incurable lunatic disease / illness called D.M.O Crazy).

Home Network-Vulnerability

Home Network-Vulnerability

Time has come for the computers to go quantum.

The way the Internet is expanding 32 characters for a given name may become obsolete.
Leaving “character space” between keyboard characters is open to numerous virus attacks.
Routers can be attacked easily and being a Linux Guy I do not approve window’s easy methods.
In the early days in Ceylon (there were no routers), I had to go to Singapore to get a router for my home base.
Even the University did not have prime time facilities.

Guy who left the Engineering Faculty without completing the Degree stole the passwords of the University Email Service.

I had a university email but never used it knowing its vulnerability and had my own Samba Network at home and never exposed my critical work including research.
I was dual booting with windows then (not now).
One day, I found my daughter's computer attacked by a guy in the engineering faculty.
We made sure he never completed his degree but all my life I only penalized only one foreign student who was not up to the mark in the medical subject I taught.

He was fixed up with a non medical degree.

The Best Router and Home Network Names

Ideas for personalizing your router name

by Bradley Mitchell
Updated July 16, 2019

What's the name of your home network?
Most home networks have a name that is the SSID of their primary home broadband router. Some homeowners keep the default names of their routers such as linksys or AEFLHB198Z-2GJ, while others prefer to assign a more personalized name to theirs.

If you can't think of just the right name for your home network, maybe these suggestions will give you some ideas.

Rules for Network Names

SSID’s or network names have a couple of rules that are important to keep in mind when naming your network. Below are the 2 main rules for naming your home network:
  • The name is case sensitive. That means, if you name your home network Homebase, then make sure you always type it the same way.
  • SSID’s can be only 1-32 characters long. (This includes spaces, numbers, and symbols.)

Do’s and Don’ts for Creating a Unique Network Name

While the list below provides some great inspiration, there are a few things to avoid when creating a unique network SSID.
  • Don't include any personal information such as names, address, birthdays, etc.
  • Don't use any part of your router’s password as the name.
  • Do make your SSID unique and memorable, so you don’t forget it.
  • Do change if from the manufacturer’s name. Why possibly advertise to would-be hackers what your router is? It only gives them more insight into your network’s security.
