The Yukthiya

The Yukthiya

Reproduction

By Gagani Weerakoon

Parents often name their daughters ‘Seetha’, as the name resonates with virtue and purity, as depicted in the mythology of the Ramayana

However, the parents of Seetha Ranjani, the eldest of six children, could never have imagined, 70 years ago, that their daughter would lead a life that truly embodies the meaning of her name.

In Hindu culture, ‘Seetha’ signifies a furrow or an earthen lane, symbolising virtue and purity; it essentially represents a strong and resilient woman.

Born on 8 March 1954, coincidentally on International Women’s Day, in the rural village of Perimiyankulama in the Anuradhapura District, Wannihamilage Seetha Ranjani moved to Colombo from Rajarata in 1986.

She went on to become a trailblazer in Sri Lankan journalism.
She dedicated her journalistic career to telling the stories of unfairness and injustice faced by the powerless at the hands of the powerful.
The woman who led many struggles against draconian rulers, impunity and for the betterment of downtrodden persons and communities for more than three decades and fiercely fought against cancer for over two decades was finally forced to take a break and rest in power just few weeks before she turned 71

Seetha or Seetha akka for many irrespective of whether you are in your twenties, thirties or even sixties decided to take her final breath on 16 February and were buried under the same sky, in the same soil she was born.

Many comrades and fellow journalists recalled Seetha’s struggles under most difficult conditions and there was one thing that echoed- fear was something she unheard of.
(I did not know these stories I was away in United kingdom)
The year 1986 was a pivotal one for Seetha as she received an invitation to join the editorial board of the ‘Vivarana’ magazine, published in Colombo.

This opportunity was the reason she left Anuradhapura and moved to Colombo. By that time, she was working as a grade B radio announcer in Rajarata Radio.

“Everyone told me that moving to Colombo would be good for my creative life. There was no particular reason for me to stay in Anuradhapura. I had no special attachment to the dry environment there, nor did I find much beauty in it that I needed to experience. Although I had no close relationships, I eventually decided to come to Colombo. I arrived and stayed in a boarding house for about three months before I took up the job at ‘Vivarana’. During those three months, my life at the boarding house became quite uncomfortable,” she recalls in a previous conversation with Athula Vithanage of Journalist for Democracy Sri Lanka (JDS).

Seetha who acquainted with Leena Irene Haputhanthri, a leading activist in the Women’s and Media Collective, found a solution to her accommodation issue when latter arranged a room for her at the office of the Women’s and Media Collective in Rajagiriya.

“It was there that I got used to living alone and handling everything on my own. Leena would stay there one day a week. We spent many evenings talking, and those nights were beautiful. The building where the ‘Vivarana’ office was located also housed the offices of the Movement for the Defence of Democratic Rights (MDDR). It was there that I met people like Wimal Perera, S.G. Punchihewa, and Sivagurunadan. They even offered me membership in the MDDR. ‘Vivarana’ had a small editorial team. The chief editor was Vincent Kurumbapitiya, and the team included Yasalal Wanniarachchi, Karambe Gunannandathera, Pushpa Ramlini Rathnayake, and me, along with other editors. In addition to my work at ‘Vivarana’, I also got involved with the activities of the Women’s and Media Collective in my free time. I also contributed to ‘Shakthi’ magazine, which was published by the Collective. Thus, my weekends were spent working on collective programmes. It was during these events that I met people like Rohan Pereira, Deepthi Kumara Gunaratne, and K.K. Saman Kumara. By then, I had the opportunity to write poems and short stories to ‘Ethttha’ Newspaper. After seeing my work, Piyal Somaratna from ‘Mawatha’ magazine came to meet me at ‘Vivarana’. Later, I even attended their discussions. During that time, I had two of my poetry pages published in ‘Mawatha’ Magazine,” she elaborated her journey.

In 1989, while Seetha survived the horrors of the civil conflict, she found herself still living in danger.

By 1990, the MERGE organisation,  had launched the newspaper, titled Yukthiya (Justice) by merging artistic publication ‘Sankalana’ to meet the market’s need for a news publication.

Consequently, the tabloid-sized ‘Yukthiya’ was printed and distributed to readers on May Day of the same year.

“Initially, it was just
Sunanda (Deshapriya) and I working on the paper. I was entrusted with editing the literature and arts section.

The distribution was handled by Joseph from MERGE. About two months later, C. J. Amarathunga, Amare, Nirmal, and Joe Senewiratne joined the paper. Shortly thereafter, Sarath Saranga was brought in to organise the newspaper’s sales. Within a year, C. Dodawatta also joined ‘Yukthiya’.

About a year later, Saman Wagarachchi joined.

Saman, who had been working on environmental projects, was brought in by Sunanda. During this period, the newspaper’s page layouts were designed by Sendaruwan Senadheera, a former advertising professional. His fees were fair, and as a result, we brought in Ravi Chandralal to assist with the layouts. Ravi had previously worked in an advertising agency, and his speed was unmatched, which was critical for the paper. We helped him out until he took full control of the task.”

‘Yukthiya’ was printed at the ‘Navamaga’ Press in Dehiwala, owned by Kelli Senanayake, a leader of the 1971 Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP)

In 1991, President Premadasa sealed off ‘Navamaga’ Press in a bid to stop printing ‘Yukthiya’.

However, the paper was eventually printed by a different press and released to the market.

This made ‘Yukthiya’ gain further popularity among readers.

As Seetha Ranjani became more involved in media and social activism, some believed that her creative pursuits had somewhat diminished.

However, her response to this was sharp:

“Since my childhood, I always envisioned myself engaging in some form of collective work for the common good. That’s why I focused my energy on working for society. I also had the opportunity to remain at home and write. A publisher came to meet me, asking to publish my creations. But I felt that my work wasn’t of a high enough standard to be published. Instead, I contributed to collective efforts, which I found fulfilling. Some of the publications I contributed to include Donkara: Poems from the Battlefield, The Talking Flames (Katha karanagini dal), Raman: The Story of a Tamil Guerrilla, Tangamma (a collection of song lyrics), Those Who Carry the Heavy Burden (a radio drama), Yakku
(a collection of Tamil short stories), and Tsunami Victims

All of my publications were presented as results of collective work.” She explained.

Seetha, who was always seen clad in colourful attires with an extra effort put into match her dress with accessories, as many of her friends and colleagues would remember, in her own subtle ways has proven feminists and activists  are no longer bra-burning, man eating strange species.

Seetha in her last poetry collection ‘uraga winsathiyaka kurulu biththara’ in her own typical unconventional use of the language questions, provokes and contemplates what will happen to bird eggs if snakes get wind of those when they come out of the cold, dark, muddy places of hibernation.

Through her poem ‘Upasaka Aeththo’ in the same collection, Seetha in not-so-poetic language takes those who turn a blind eye to injustices in the society to task while claiming it is ‘none of their business’.

She questions the morality of those who selfishly ignore social responsibility and equals their ignorance to the perpetrators.

Diagnosed with cancer for several years, Seetha challenged death few occasions and emerged victorious.  She continued to share her expertise with the younger generation generously and engaged in her activism until few days before she took her last.

Seetha’s long-time comrade or partner in crime Sunanda Deshapriya posting an old picture of Seetha on Meta recalls
:

“This photograph represents an important milestone. It was on the day of the Richard-Rajini memorial ceremony in 1991

We organised it under Yukthiya newspaper.

It was the first major protest against the oppressive rule of Premadasa.

Seetha was never afraid of oppression. Once she took on a task, she saw it through to the end. When we had difficult organisational work, it was Seetha we entrusted it with.

On that day, Seetha, with defiance, started the protest by grabbing this torch and running. We spent a month preparing for the protest. We made posters, sold them, and our fellow readers came from all over the country to assist at the office. There were days when we didn’t rest for two or three days in a row.

The Yukthiya staff consisted of fellow activist gang

The only woman amongst us was Seetha!

We used the proceeds from the newspaper, which amounted to several hundred thousand rupees, to fund the event.

We chose Richard and Rajini because we wanted to highlight personal murders and the wider political oppression

Our plan was to establish a memorial at the place where Richard’s body had been found, and from there, to carry a baton of resistance towards the Viharamaha Devi Park, walking along the way, step by step.

The Police had a presence there early in the morning.

Richard’s mother, Manorani, also came. She stayed with us, continuously working with us.

The two fishermen who had seen Richard’s body for the first time also joined the memorial. Breaking through the Police line, we walked a bit further.

When we arrived at the Viharamaha Devi Park, it was already dusk. Even before the event started, the area was full of people.

Kalo (Fonseka), Manorani, and I addressed the gathering.

A musical performance was held, and the place was filled with other singers and musicians. To the best of my knowledge, it was the only day when people from various backgrounds and without any political party support gathered to fill the Viharamaha Devi Open Theatre.

It was the day when the challenge was made against the repression of Premadasa!

Back then, we had nothing to lose. When threatened, we would say, “If you’re afraid of ghosts, you wouldn’t build houses in the graveyard.” Seetha, who carried a heavy burden, told us that “Yukthiya” meant more than just a newspaper

We were doing campaign journalism. Seetha also ran the poetry page, and the poems she wrote were like fire – words that spoke out. If you haven’t read them, find them and read. It feels like you’re still in the battle!

This photograph was taken on the first day of our national “Free from Fear” campaign. I’ll never forget how Seetha laughed and faced the Police.

We were there to start a battle; Proudly.

The story behind the laughter in this photograph is just that. We were in it for the game. When the game is fair, the result is immense joy. There’s an ego to it.

Seetha, continue to smile just like that today, just as you did back then. If you’re afraid of ghosts, you wouldn’t be building houses, would you?

Life is a struggle. If that struggle becomes sweet, life itself becomes a victory. It transforms from being an ordeal to being an achievement. That’s the true sweetness.

No Entry

World Cup Football (fever) is over and the Maha Brahma (really his assistant) tells me that few of the earthly beings ended up in his salvo with request to change the honour’s list which he declined until such time the inquiry into the head butting is over
He was annoyed that he gave a big brain to the humans expecting them to use it wisely but not in combat as in head butt. He has set up a commission to investigate how to reduce the brain to a size (manageable in sport) needed for the current century that man including politicians can use  prudently.

Maha is also worried about the free entry of politicians including French Presidents to sport events which they do not have a clue in administering let alone enjoying.
Until such time I have to pen down a current story circulating in the heaven.

It is about a Paraya Dog of Ceylon.

This Paraya Dog of course is a resident of Kandy. He had been frequenting a large temple, a doctor’s clinic and a lawyer’s residence in his active life.
In actual fact he was visiting the rubbish heaps of those concerned. Unfortunately he is terminally ill from a disease he contracted from the doctor’s rubbish dump. I am not sure whether it was a dog’s dream or in fact a divine story but it goes on like this.

In his deja-vu state he happened to address the Brahma and the Brahma politely asked him what he wants to be in his next life.
The Sandy (the adopted name for this canine specimen because of his muddy colour) of course asked can I be a High Priest in my next round.
The Brahma asked why you want to attain high goals?
Sandy promptly said no Sir, judging by the type of food the High Priest eats, his liking is no different from mine he said.
Then Brahma promptly said that is not what was intended by the Buddha if you want to be a high priest the minimum code is Dasa Sil and higher and listed all the prerequisites.

Then Sandy declined saying that I was so faithful in my life I cannot do that.

What about a doctor he asked.
That is OK but there is a problem. The doctors have a Code of Conduct and they also tell you don’t eat this and that (cholesterol), don’t drink alcohol, don’t smoke and don’t have sex without a condom.

“But my experience is different” by the doctor I was frequenting and Maha promptly said that is typical of Ceylonese doctors and they do not practice what they preach just like others.

Then Sandy asked why not a lawyer?

It is OK but there is a hitch.
He went on elaborating that lawyers have to frame and pass laws to combat all the vices the doctors and high priests claim and he is inundated with such claims and there are pressure groups claiming that some are violating human as well as animal (if a man want to be an animal like Zidene  Zidane be that so) rights.

Life is not easy on this sunny island he said.

Then Sandy asked can I be your assistant?

Well that is no problem but there is a bit of a problem. As soon as you come here I have to take leave and you are in charge and you have to wait till the Maha comes from his leave of absence.

I thought you are the Maha.
No I am his assistant and I was a Pedigree Dog not worldly wise like you and I promptly accepted his offer as an assistant.
The moment I came here he went on vacation but you must know that the vacations here are counted in eons and not in days.

So you are stuck with your faith of the master!

In that case can you cancel my life entry and no entry at all for next round like the next world cup?

It is possible but there is a long waiting queue and you have to wait for at least the next Poya.

Is that OK?

Then Sandy asked why such a delay?

I am in a hurry.

You know I have to check each entry carefully and especially the CVs of all Ceylonese applications
There are lot of errors and false declarations it is some what of a dull job. To tell you the truth even my entry had a long list of Pedigree dogs and Maha Brahma had to scrutinize each generation and told me “you not that pure as it claims”.

I told him it is not my fault it is the fault of the master.

He promptly accepted my innocence.

How long is your CV?

Only 4 entries in all Sandy told the Maha’s assistant.

How come?

Paraya, Paraya, Paraya and Faithful are the only entries.
I am sure of my mother but not sure of my father.

Why the hurry?

In a short while the Kandy Perehara is due we would be rounded up and sent to hell by the Kandy Municipality.

Brahma’s assistant asked no more questions and the Sandy’s request was granted promptly and
he successfully attained Nibbana.

Who says an intelligent, faithful and trustworthy dog cannot attain Nirvana.
This is not the first in record, the Brahma’s assistant tells me.

PS. Zidane name was incorporated to celebrate the French Independence and no offense to him or France was intended.

Level of Citizenship

 Posted on September 15, 2011

Level of Citizenship
This is something I wanted to write but escaped my attention for so long.
I should be brief.

I categorize citizens into 4 main groups but there can be many in between.
Since I have traveled a fair bit when young and I was out of the country more than in, may have caused this delay.

But it is never too late than ever.

Probably I am less hypocritical of myself.

Recent visit of the CID to our neighbourhood made me pen this down lest I forget.

We have no war but the long period of paranoia has made us less flexible and open but very much reserved and less proactive.

This is very much shown in our cricket and the political involvement especially around world cup has made it worse.

When we want to go out especially to UK or USA, they do a scan of your profile and fingers to the extent many of our criminals (must be laughing) never have had the opportunity
granted to them (they are out there in the open without a warrant), by default  sometimes probably to cover up their tracks with political patronage.

When the Visa guys finished me I wanted to say to them  you must take an accurate profile of the penis or vice versa of the opposite sex to prevent powerful IMF guys with political clout escaping the security net.

For my own sanity I differed saying that till now.

My categorization are as follows

1. First Class Citizen of a First Class Country.

2. First Class Citizen of a Second Class Country.

3. Second Class Citizen of a First Class Country.

4. Second Class Citizen of a Second Class Country.

Many of us fall into the last category and try our best to achieve the Second Class Citizen of a First Class country and never go beyond that point.
Mind you there is no First Class Country and that is found only in heaven.
Now then, can I give an example of a country that come near  enough to a First class Country.
Only one comes to my mind.

It is New Zealand that come anywhere near that category in people-wise and policy-wise as a First Class Country. I have revised (they are very racist) this and I have demoted it but perhaps having been in Australia little over three years, I find it comes under first class country for a foreigner by many a mile, except perhaps for aborigines.

UK and USA (especially after war in Ukraine which was planned in USA and executed by UK)  now come under Second Class Countries due to their policy changes.

They are paranoid (crimes they have  involved in over the past two centuries  and still committing are too numerous to mention) in their demeanor and that is why I categorize them as such.

It is far better to become a first class citizen of a second class country which none of us can achieve given the global scenario of impending debt crisis.
So when you think of going abroad please think twice, if you become  a second class citizen, you remain so for your entire life and one cannot ascend up the ladder.

I am not a Dumb Buddhist from Childhood

I am not a Dumb Buddhist from Childhood

This underground function called Catholic Action started in early 1960s when I was a kid in Ampitiya St: Mary's College

That is the place where Catholic Priest are trained, even today.

It the prime land Opposite Kandy, Dharmajara College.

Colonel Olcott from America saw this tragedy and initiated the Buddhist Colleges in Ceylon.

I was twice incarcerated by the priests of the Amipitiya Missionary Church built in the School Land where I wondered into the hinterland to pick sweet fruits (not mulberry fruits but Lovi, Mora and  many other local fruits gone extinct but were growing in the wild).

For these cruel priests, a little child picking fruits in their land was a big crime

I was put in a Dark Room after, the effort of me keeping under Hot Sun for one whole morning on one leg did not bear fruits to their willful action of domination to subjugate me.I did bent down to these cruel priests dressed in foreign (Loguwas) dress.

I had gone trough this cruelty at Diyathakwa Camp of the Army as the sergeant of the Cadetting Team, of St; May's College for eating pears on our free time on a Sunday, Morning. That is why I never joined the services even as a reserved officer.

Most of these guys are homosexuals and thankfully, I was too, strong to be assaulted in my prime.

There were lot more other incidents and I was thrown out of the class for asking "Who created the God"? question.

Of course, I refused to attend this school and I was taken to a college in the Kandy City, where teachers not wearing ceremonial dresses were no better.

It is very strange that I managed to enter the Medical College at first attempt in English Medium. I made it a point to master English from very young age. My accent was local but I perfected British (Queen's accent) accent in the decade I worked in United Kingdom. Suffice is to say I was not treated like the way I was treated these priests in UK.

Now that Pope is dead after a long debilitating illness as a medical man, I am interested in his cause of death and what  I would find after a full postmortem, including brain preserved in formalin jar fixed.

I do not think postmortem is a tradition any church.

But I have a bigger issue,

If he died of a virulent viral infection like Coronavirus it is going to be a public hazard at large.

My advice for Ceylonese who visit "Dalada Exposition" to wear a "Face Mask" in preparation of the spread of an unknown virus infections from Italy carried forward by priests who from Ceylon visit the pontiff's funeral.

I am serious about this predicament.

I almost died of the Moderna vaccination abreaction and I curtailed all my outdoor visit to Kandy City well in advance by December, 2019, soon after the Christmas "Jolly Good Off" with spirits and wines.

I think I would post a good wine in sadness.

Yes, I did break my 6 yeas abstinence from any form of alcohol this New year which our President Anura did not celebrate, as a rank J.V.P. convention.

There is enough information about the coronavirus and face mask on this site, for perusal.

Now coming to the topic, that I am not a Dumb Buddhist, and I have worked out all the plans of the Catholic Church had plotted and planted in Ceylon to unsettle innocent Buddhists.

I am not like Gamman Pulle or Nalin the Silva who are rank racists naturally.

I consider Tamils as my brethren

I am ambivalent to guys and girls on Muslims faith especially after "Easter Bombing".

This "Dalada Exposition" is to hoodwink the average Buddhist by Anura/Ranil clan who are motivated by the American CIA to change the constitution that gives Special Privilege to Buddhism.

This is while President Donald Trump twice put his hand on the Bible to Protect Americans (not Chines or Indians).

To American celebrating Christianity is a bounden duty but to Anura/Ranil Clan it is violation of Human Rights of other religions.

Only 1.6 millions are Christians worldwide, less than one third of the current human population

Now there is also a sinister attempt to "white wash" Indian interference from Indira Gandhi to current Modi

Modi has trapped Anura by the "cricketing" balls", as it were.

Anura is "only a Flsh in the pan" and even Niormal Ranjith who is astute in his political analysis is charmed by Anura.

Whoever, who raised him to the top post (most likely CIA through Indian RAW) has a plan to oust him within two years

The plot is already hatched and he does not know.

I am pretty sure in the Local Government elections they would not get a landslide. "Dalada Exposition" was to hoodwink ONLY average Buddhist "old folks" but not the Young Blood who are not J.V.P. activists.

Chap Bandara is addressing to these "Young Buds" and he will become "Hero" in their minds.

Zero to hero should be his plan.

That is why Anura is already threatening Tamils in the North, fearing loss his unusual political grip in the parliament.

Politics is very volatile in Ceylon

Regarding the Aragakaya, the so called spontaneous uprising and it was not spontaneous by any chance but a carefully crafted PLAN by Ranil and the CIA clan.

Also, as a doctor at grass root level I could not fathom the Aragalaya well in advance, which was Colombo based (Bruno, Sugath Sepala and the NPP YouTube clan) but quickly spread to the periphery due to financial crisis at bottom level..

Aragalya Guys and Girls from Colombo  would be dumbfounded when the local government election results are declared.

That is how politics evolves in Ceylon, which used to be the paradise in the Indian Ocean but not now infested with Indian Political Paupers.

Average Indian is much poorer than an average African

That is the reality.

African call Indians, "Black Jews" .

It will rise again and it is in the hands of Clever Buddhists not the Activist in the Church who are using Easter Bombing to their advantage.

Death of pontiff would be another catalyst.

This was penned down a few hours before the pontiff's departure.

By the way, the cardinal is wishing the Pope to be dead, so that he can become the next Pope.

One of the Popes was poisoned when I was in UK and the Vatican Banker's body was hung under the London Bridge.

I still have good memory unlike those who are wishing to be the next Popes.

Good luck to Chapa Bandara.

Tamil people are very intelligent politically but they are also trapped by Indian money thrown at their hands.

My downloads are finishing and "Good Bye".

Strangely enough, I updated my NUC with 4 Linux distributions in double quick time.

Reborn OS is my favorite because it has some connection to "Rebirth Concept" of Dhamma.

This current Cardinal is knowingly or unknowingly is part and parcel of the Grand CIA Plot and Anura is the willing Emissary.

That is why there is a conspiracy to oust him in mid term, perhaps withing two years.

During the Dalada Exposition a nasty episode can be created and put the blame on innocent Buddhists.

That is the Catholic Plot.

Be mindful of the plotters many of them are in the parliament.

This Guy Sanatha Badra is part of the same plot to discredit monk (Samaneras) not the Upasampada Theros.

Gnoppix has done a Good Job

Gnoppix has done a Good Job

1. It is Debian 12 based.

2. It now looks like another Linux distribution.

Good on them.

3. Wireless configuration is smooth.

4. Application arrangement is simplified.

5. Does no have unnecessary glamour of KDE.

6. It has Gparted.

7. Installer is Calamara.

8. It identifies all my partitions but asks for root password which is good.

9. It has GDebi

10. It has Synaptic package a manager.

11. I am going to install it to see how it functions on day to day life.

12. It looks slim and minimal like ARCH Linux.

13. Downside one root user and no user logging.

14. AI enhanced which I have not tested, yet.

15. Installation failed. I'll try again,

I think in their hast to make it public they have left of some critical components.

Besides, it may be enticing Microsoft Windows guys not the Linux Base.

It may be also due to ditching Debian and going for ARCH base when even a loos of single file halts the installation.

My advice, DO NOT TRY this distribution, if YOU are a nervy Guy or Girl.

Right for Life

Right for Life

Introduction is lengthy but latter part is spicy.

My philosophy is masterly inactivity as far as the mother nature is concerned.

Another idea that springs out of that philosophy is, every life form has the right to live its entire life cycle without hindrance.

Unlike in Buddhism I have extended it to the plant family taking a cue from Darwin.

So killing life (not plants) for food, I abhor.

This has nothing to do with religion and like human rights there should be animal rights not only for cats and dogs (what about chickens, almost flightless bird).

Now with the rain coming in and not enough sunlight shining down catastrophe was about to hit my guppy fish population.

I have had enough past experience.

I lost almost entire population of Green Swordtails.

My first interest is not fish keeping but looking after water plants which has extended to water lilies.

I keep fish to control mosquitoes.

That has given me lot of problems.

When they start dying, they die in large numbers, since they do not have a powerful immune response.

So, I decided to use the air compressor for two fish tanks (instead of one) using a T connector but that piece of Chinese T connector (unlike coming from the West) did not work even for a week and the fish start showing signs of ill health.

Sure enough they started dying.

I gave up fish keeping totally, except guppies.

Immediately removed the ill functioning T connector and used a spare air compressor to pump air to the second tank.

This Chinese made air copressor had two outlets but only one would work after six months.

Even the death of fish touches my heart (I go into overdrive).

That is the entry point for the spicy stuff.

While I was attending to the fish tank, wife came and showed me a photograph of the garden created at the site of Bogambara Prison Complex.

This was built by the British, and I hated it from my school days and I voiced an opinion that it should be removed forthright (a prime land in the center of the City).

Nobody cared to remove it for over 65 years.

It was an eyesore.

I visited this place with the first opportunity I had.
One of my friends became the Prison doctor who had to certify the death of the prisoner (he hated the job within few months- he wanted to stay in Kandy) after execution.

If I remember right Somarama (not sure) and Maru Sira were executed there.

It was an appalling site to wonder around.

I told my wife just imagine the plight of the prisoner there waiting for execution.

Can a true Buddhist watch an execution?

Our current (probably future presidents, too) can do that without revulsion.

I will never visit this park and I do bypass this track if I have to visit the hospital.

It reminds me of the painful past at first site which no one can erase with rose buds on plant beds.

Nobody has the right to kill any living being.

It is bordering psychopathy.

Anarchy

Anarchy

A state of disorder due to absence or non-recognition of authority or other controlling systems.
I refer the word, the chaos or the disorder with scientific connotation and how the our universe operates in its day to day affairs from quasars to pulsars to black holes in evolution.
Mind you the order is only seen in the biological systems apparently of recent origin and development, whereas the disorder is seen in the human thinking especially in economic and political affairs.
synonyms:
lawlessness,
absence of government,
nihilism,
mobocracy,
revolution,
insurrection,
riot,
rebellion,
mutiny,
disorder,
disorganization,
misrule,
chaos,
tumult,
turmoil,
mayhem,
pandemonium

Antonyms
government,
order
absence of government and absolute freedom of the individual, regarded as a political ideal.
Let me introduce myself.

I am not a politician but a scientific and analytical thinker.

My observations are based on real life stories coming from a short history of medical teaching and long history of medical career in many fields including being myself a flying doctor (Korean War is an analogy but not a participant).

Example is Ceylon
The expression is the classic example of “Failed State” having disbanded the democratic first pass the post parliamentary democracy for autocratic anarchic rulers hiding behind saffron cloth and other garbs of religious fanatical nature.
Solution drop or severe the connection of religions and state and go back to the real democracy with equality, brotherhood and liberty.
The last three elements are not seen anywhere in this world.
That is the entry point for my short discussion.
Let me summarize the world history, demography, economics and political outcomes.
1. Autocracy without meritocracy
2. Theocracy
3. Firm embrace of theology and autocracy
4. French Revolution
5. Brief Period of Renaissance
6. Expansion of British Empire
7. Two Wold Wars without any objective reasons
8. Total Embrace of Capitalism
9. Marxist Theory of Capitalism
10. Emergence of socialism and communism
11. Failed state of Russia with Socialism and Orthodox Religion
12. American (IMF and World Bank) Global Economic Empire
13.Plunder of the Oil Capital of the Middle East with the help of Israel and Lebanon
14. Collapse of Capitalism and Communism in Europe
15. European Union
16.Emergence of Chinese communism with economic recovery (but with slavery and no political freedom for subjects)
17. Hongkong Acquisition by Mainland China and Current Unrest
Acquisition of mainland Tibet was the preview of the Hongkong current scenario.

25. Total Anarchy or Chaos

I may have missed few points but that is beside the point.

Ceylon has gone from relative pruned Marxism to Capitalism to two or three insurgencies and currently religions mafiosi (all three religions).

This all started with JRJ’s grand and critically failed political and economic plan (called liberalism for the few and anarchy for the rest) aided by IMF and World Bank with European union fiddling with LTTE.

In 70 years we are in total debt for 100 years or more with school children using tablets to learn failed American capitalism.
We created a constitution to prune (abolition was the original target) the post of presidency but still the anarchy rule sway.
There are over 20 guys contesting and none of these guys have any knowledge of any of the 25 points highlighted above.
Do not waste your vote.

Choose the best guy out of the totally rotten lot.

Strangely not a single girl.

Linux in Local Languages (Sinhala)

In Ceylon only 32 people were using Linux exclusively and I gave up supporting local users.

Wikipeada Comment
The collaborative nature of free software development allows distributed teams to perform language localization of some Linux distributions for use in locales where localizing proprietary systems would not be cost-effective

Knoppix was the first Live CD I used and it is the best coming from Germany (in English and German).

There was a Medical Knoppix, too.

I have misplaced these CDs.

Soon I went to Puppy Linux (coming from Australia) and is my favorite.

Those days carrying a Linux distribution in 100 MiB USB stick was impossible.

Wikipeada comment

For example, the Sinhalese language version of the Knoppix distribution became available significantly before Microsoft translated Windows XP into Sinhalese.

This was the work of Anuradha.

In this case the Lanka Linux User Group played a major part in developing the localized system by combining the knowledge of university professors, linguists, and local developers.

Unfortunately, Lanka Linux Developers went for Fedora.

They should have teamed up with Debian Linux.
Debian has over 60,000 packages and sadly its developer committed suicide after an altercation with US police.

Why they stuck with Fedora (Community version of Redhat), I do not know.

I started with Redhat with 8 version but gave as soon as it was bought up by a giant commercial company

It changed hand several times.

Centos Os distribution was a failure in my opinion.

Linux Bible was my Guru and I continued subscribing Linux magazine till lately.
It also comes from Germany.

How I use my computer as a heater to warm me

How I use my computer as a heater to warm me

Internet is down to snail pace and I decided to test my computer CPUs working capacity and the memory use.

All CPUs are running currently at 25-35% capacity.

Memory use was only 30% and I have to wait one solid hour to transfer my hard disk files including films to the USB stick of 16 GiBs.

The reason being to transfer them to my laptop running Debian 10.1.0 smoothly.
In case of electricity failure I could fiddle my fingers and twist my brain to write something tangible and not political, with election heating up.
Now one of those CPUs were heating up to 50 degrees and was not to my liking.
Running a simple job of transferring files consumes electricity
It is all right on a cold day but on a hot day your computer is a fire hazard.

I thought of fiddling with the processor use or speed but decided against knowing very well Linux will automatically correct the scenario.

This is the advantage of having four or more processors.

Unfortunately Microsoft cannot handle this type of work which Linux does in the background.
Time for you to learn Linux and change over to Linux if you a heavy user of your computer gadgets.

It runs for 10 years without breaking down if correctly configured.

Then I may have kicked the bucket but you can buy a new machine for your liking from the saving you have made using Linux 24/7 routine.

I have decided not to buy anymore gadgets including tablets but buy the cheapest new cellphone (in my case to play tiny games) on the market when down to half price.

But that won't warm me up but my laptop on the lap would keep me warm.

Linux Experince in a Nutshell

Linux Experince in a Nutshell

My next new year resolution is related to the incident I discovered today.
Just today I went to drop a friend of mine to the airport and being new year we arrived at the friend's place in good time.
Since I did not have a good night sleep yesterday (I was looking for various Linux gamers to download for the new year) I had a bath and had a little snooze on the arm chair.
I usually carry a book and gossip is not my pastime; I forgot the wine making book I fished out from a secondhand bookshop, unfortunately.
We had lunch and tea and all that but my friend and wife were taking an unusually long time getting ready and I was bit bored dropped into their daughters room to say hello, and found a computer and sat in front of it.
There was a glaring message saying that the hard disk is at risk and blah, blah.
Then she came in with another cup of tea before leaving and she told me that it is giving trouble and could not connect it to Internet.
I Looked at the router it was OK looking form outside (no evidence of hit by lightening) but not blinking properly and the outer panels were open pulled out the hard disk and the cable and she had another hard disk and fixed it as the slave and booted a Linux live CD (Peppermint with Google utilities) I had given him earlier.
It took a little time to configure first but in less than ten minutes with 256 RAM, I was up and running the Chromium browser and typed asokaplus and parafox.
So router part is OK and my friend was still not ready, I decided to boot the computer (XP, I believe a pirated copy vendor had installed) without the Internet cable not plugged in and I could not find any (I had given her Medi Linux disk, too but did not use it for virus check) problem and it was running well.
I booted again with Peppermint, to show how to use it, this time it quickly configured and it was up and running.

My diagnosis Microsoft secretly spying on pirated copies and infecting the hard disk and giving instructions not to recognize the router with the message I did not care to read.

Router is above the operating system and Microsoft has no right to fiddle it at that level but they are doing it on unsuspecting Sri-Lankans who are using pirated copies.
So my solution is get hold of a Linux live CD and boot it with it and go to Internet.
When using XP (pirated copies of course pull the Internet wire out, a very simple remedy).
I prefer DSL (Damn Small Linux-that is what I have given my wife) with less than 50 MiB which boots fast.
If you have enough RAM go for any Live CD I have listed in Linux 100.
The second message is to say do not use Microsoft for Internet.
Third resolution is to promote Sinhala Linux for the next 3 months and go into full hibernation so that Microsoft would not be be able to find a trace of me or my old testicles which are still producing enough testosterone to fight any villain against Linux.
If you have any brain take a few (5 enough) minutes a day and learn bit of Linux from a Live CD. It does not do any harm to your computer since it is running on RAM and there are enough forums to guide you through the early phase.

Down below is a note I sent to a Young newbie.
2 GiB is enough (not for graphic intensive windows games) for Linux except for games.
I have only one (1) GiB (4 GIB in my laptop which I use only for testing occasionally).
It is a waste of money going for more RAM with very slow Internet in Sri-Lanka.
I only use K-Torrents now and it is currently downloading at less than 5 KB/sec .
Solution is for having at least two computers.
1. For games and videos
2. Simple secondhand computer with Linux for Internet (can share with your sister or brother and family members).
3. Netbook with Android when you enter University (not now).
I have fallen out with Newtbooks and Tablets now.
Except my laptop and my daughters netbook all the computers at home are very good secondhand IBM computers (cost less than 20,000 with few updates with RAM but not graphic cards).
Secondhand desktops are good buys if you understand the hardware and look at inside before buying.
I test them with my Linux CD/DVDs before buying and there are lot of Linux utilities to test and Linux will work day and night for 10 years.
None of my computers broke down after I started using Linux (before that 3 new ones on Windows) except few graphic cards and RAM in the learning stage.
They work 24/7 schedule and the UPS battery is very important.
This is one reason I promote Linux and I do not fear viruses now.
Only down side is Games with Linux which I will probably concentrate when I retire and nothing else to do.
I have two game DVDs but I will not give it to anybody since Linux is for real and serious computing and not for games and leisure!
Never buy a secondhand laptop or netbook (I have written about secondhand laptops in my blog site).
Wait till new models come and with long battery life and you need it in the university and the government is unable to pay dons and do not expect them to help you with computers (not in Singapore though) when you eventually enter University.

Learning Linux is easy if you take one step at a time.
When I started there was nobody to guide me.
I used to read books (This is where English is important) and fast.
That is a technique (reading fast and also digesting the material) I developed on my own.
Give me any big book I will read (not from cover to cover) only what I want to solve a problem (in this case installing Linux) and pick up the important things in 3 to 4 days.
This is something essential in higher studies. One does not read for the sake of reading in science (reading in other fields including philosophy is different).

One focus on why one reads this or that and make one's own personal assessment in the course of the reading.
Early days I used to get bogged down in two or three days without any progress.
Then I take a break and think about the problem deep and somehow get to the point (D.I.Y- Do It Yourself) where I want to make progress.
It naturally comes.
We all have this natural ability but examinations do not make us better but show where we are weak.
After every examination we have to go for a higher level and a more difficult level.
Even though A Level is difficult we make life easy after the 1st year Examination.
Unfortunately 1st year examination is the most difficult for all and problem with English compounding the disability.
This is especially so in maths and IT.
Maths is difficult if one is not in it.
I was very good in my maths including applied mathematics and used to beat all in my class.
Then one day I decided to go for biology in particular (with my reading talent and the fast speed was a bonus) and without any help covered the syllabus myself (D.I.Y).
Rest was history and I never felt big but looked for the next challenge.
When you get bogged down in a mathematical problem do not try to solve it by somehow.
Think, analyze and look at the problem in a different way.
There is always several ways of solving problems and try to grasp the concept.
What I find in my teaching in the University is students struggle to grasp key points an concepts.
Not like our time.
I do not know why?
Other problem is they cannot read a manual and follow instructions according to the manual and instructions.
This is where reading is important.
So concentrate on your mathematics and English.
Rest will follow.
Linux take as a problem and a hobby to take a break from your studies.
Do not make it your first interest.
But keep trying and look at where you go wrong.
This talent is essential in IT.
There is something called fixing bugs.
This is where both mathematical concepts and programming merge.
Even though I do not write programs, I am good looking at bugs.
That probably has come from my analytical skills learnt from pathology.
Try to be a problem analyst.
The term in IT is system analyst.
If a server breaks down one has to find where and when and what has gone wrong?
Without trying to spoon feed I have given you a list or methods that I have used to solve my problem with Linux.
You try all and decide what is good for you.
One is enough at an examination but in teaching (as a teacher I have to cater for different type of students) one has to look at the global picture and focus on different aspects of a problem.
That is the difference between a student and a teacher.
It is sometimes very hard to become a good teacher.
If am given a chance I prefer to be a student.
That is where I always enjoyed.
But having to teach a brighter student is a blessing.
Linus Torvalds, I like him the most because he showed that his professor was wrong.
There are many ways to solve a given problem.
Not one professors given method.
This is how the business world operate and there are Teams and not Lords.

Truth Embargo

About Moon Landing

It is very difficult to fathom that the mankind can penetrate Van Allen Belt without a shield, which they did in 1960s!

One has to penetrate the Truth Protecting Layers of secrecy  of NASA program

Why they could not repeat the feat for another 25 years of advancement is a big unanswered question.

“All Truth passes through three stages.
First, it is ridiculed;

Then it is violently opposed;

Finally it is accepted as self-evident.”

Arthur Schopenhauer-

“In an age of universal deceit, telling the Truth is a revolutionary act.”

“Whoever controls the past, controls the future.”

George Orwell-

One of the saddest lessons of history is this:

If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle.

We’re no longer interested in finding out the Truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken.

Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.”

Carl Sagan-

“It is easier to fool people, than to convince them that they have been fooled.”

Mark Twain-
