A comparison of Redhat Enterprise Linux and Ubuntu Linux Websites

A comparison of Redhat Enterprise Linux and Ubuntu Linux Websites
The two best web sites on Linux are Ubuntu and Redhat.
1. One is commercial, the other is both commercial (Entry into Music world) and social.
2. Ubuntu has enormous resources but poorly organized because of its dependence on Debian.
3. Redhat the resources are limited if one is a desktop user.
4. Its server resources are streamlined and well organized but the streamlining is not done by the USER but the corporation.
5. Its resources are based on Fedora Development which is very very SLOW but probably stable because of slow input.
6. Ubuntu uses LibreOffice which is far superior to Open Office.
7. OpenOffice was destroyed by ORACLE and then given to Apache which is trying to revive its old roots and lags behind by at least three years of stagnation.
It is BULKY and I never use it now.
I prefer light weight AbiWord.
If one is hooked to OpenOffice Debian still faithfully bundle it with its distribution.
8. So go for Debian instead of REDHT which is a GOLDMINE of resources.
9. Biggest PLUS point of REDHT is its Literature which no Linux distribution except perhaps Ubuntu can boast.
Most of it is HiFi administrative stuff which only Administrators would worry about but not the ordinary users.
Debian has entered the foray now with a book in French and English.
I wish them GOOD LUCK and one need not worry about REDHATÅ› publications, and the and money saved. If you subscribe for digital form make it a point to contribute a little from the money saved from REDHAT.

10. Biggest Minus point of UBUNTU is its lack of Administrative (ROOT USER) power and configuration ability. That is why I do not use it on a regular basis.
11. Current situation is very FLIUD.
Ubuntu because of Unity (I have made comment elsewhere) and Fedora because of its Butter File (btrfs) system and turning round on its head and torso, seeing 100 things at the same time and because of the RAPID SPIN.
It is too fast for any average desktop USER or even an administrator to keep phase/pace with.
12. MIND YOU Ubuntu has made rapid progress in Server (Another reason I dissociated with Ubuntu) Editions and on Cloud Computing with Ubuntu ONE, and it is fast closing the GAP Redhat has established.
It is going to be a sure winner with 20 million targeted this year not REDHAT.
13. If you do not like UBUNTU, there are 100 of other derivatives and I recommend Ubuntu Studio, Ultimate Linux,Tango Linux and many more.
I LOVE Pinguy Linux the most.
Recently there are Terrible Linux, Hybryte, Unidockynapse and more for the newbies to play with.
14. For REDHAT there is almost nothing except Fedora and Scientific Linux. Mined you scientific Linux has no scientific packages in it.
One is on a desert and I am happy I have looked for other resources rather than REDHAT and many other distributions.

If you visit my blog site you may read my reviews on many of them.
I have a book on Linux distributions on AmazonÅ› (both digital and print).
One day I might STOP blogging altogether and that is the reason for the compilation.
I am currently working on Small Distributions (my academic work keep me off the desk and desktop)
If you do not like all this there are over 300 more Linux Distributions to choose from including Puppy and Knoppix which are my favorites.
If you buy the April Copy from LINUX MAGAZINE one will get KNOPPIX FREE without any hassle for downloading.
If you subscribe for LINUX MAGAZINE print form you will get a FREE copy of the latest Linux Distribution.
If YOU are a newbie subscribe to the magazine but do not expect the writer to spoon feed you.
TRY LEARN IT in your WAY and SPEED.
Who knows at the end of one year YOU may be better than ME.
Mind you I am subscribing to the Magazine to SAVE my Electricity BILL (no downloading on a regular basis now) in Sri-Lanka.
It has sky rocketed now and if I save on my electricity I can buy 10 different types of Magazines (DEAD TREE- one has to kill a tree to PRINT a BOOK or Magazine).
I have no choice now but PLANT as many small trees as possible.
Will you do that for ME?

REDHAT is DEAD, RHEL is Billion Dollars' Worth, YET, LINUX and its Desktop is not DEAD but soon be 21 years OLD

In my life with LINUX, two incidents made me to change my OUTLOOK.
They were both challenges.
1. Number ONE.
Redhat deserting Me and US.
That was easy, I went to SuSe (Another disappointment in corporate world) and Mandriva and now PCLINUX FullMonty.
2. Number TWO.
The local cronies of Microsoft Corporation, using school leavers to disrupt a tiny workshop for KANDY school boys.
Yes they bribed the school leavers and threw in alcohol to douse them.
That was the turning point.
Had not for these two trivial incidents in my life full of bigger challenges to overcome, I would not have taken almost obsessive interest in Desktop Linux.
OUTCOME.
1. Five (5) books in Linux including cloud computing.
2. Almost daily downloading and testing Linux Derivatives.
3. Archive of over 400 Linux distributions from 1998 to TODAY.
4.Promoting LINUX Magazine.
5. Contributing articles.
Good News.
Two Debian Developers have translated the Linux Administrators Manual to English (from French).
Its print form is $50/= but digital form is FREE but make sure YOU Donate few dollars in appreciation of their dedicated work.
REDHAT had the best MANUALS, then.
It took another 10 years to fill the VOID.
Like what Richard Stallman had said about Apple Mac and Steve JOB,
I don't like his death, but I am happy he is gone.
I am Happy REDHAT is DEAD and RHEL has gone its own way to the corporate world.
That does not mean DESKTOP USER/s will sit back and Lick his/their wound/s or corporate ArXXXXSss.
They will innovate and move forward with new ideas.
If you have time and money please subscribe to Linux Magazine.
It has lot of wonderful tricks for newbies and experts.

Ubuntu-Unity Update-12.04-Warning for Oldies with Old Computers

Ubuntu-Unity Update-12.04-Warning for Oldies with Old Computers.
If you own an old computer and the graphic card is not NAVidea I have some bad news.
1. Do not think of installing Unity.
2. It is beautiful when booted up to RAM that is all one get.
3. It has inherited some Windows (98) problems.
4. It cannot distinguish from C drive to D drive.
5. It assumes you have a laptop and have only one hard disk.
6. If you install to the second drive it will assume that the other drive had to subjugate to Ubuntu and want boot up.
7. It does not even recognize even Windows operating system.
8. That is why I said it was like win 98 and imagine only one world and there no other computer world.
9. It does not recognize even native Linux distributions.
10. Its GRUB is the most horrible Grub I have ever used.
11. It hangs up in the last few minutes of installation.
Why I do not know?
12. If you install it without Internet connection it fails to finish updating and and hardware detection. If you connect the Internet it takes over 5 hours to finish downloading uploads.
I was lucky we were on holiday and home full of visitors.
I setup Ubuntu installation (my test computer) go and have a gala time with the visitors and come up to see whether it has finished but it never finish it for three attempts.
13. It does not give a running commentary or the reason for its failure.
14. Linux standard Ctl+ Alt + F1 to F6 never worked. It does not respond to Ctl+Alt+ delete too.
It is just like windows and just hang up.
No warning or any radical explanations.
15. As patient as I can be, I tried it for the fourth time and it completed installation.
But failed to boot up even though I dedicated Master Hard disk.
Finally I installed Pinguy 11.04 to get my system running and to test other distributions.
My computer is IBM Netvista in very good condition in spite of regular testing.
In fact I dismantled it and gave a thorough clean up and added two new DVDs and a new hard disk for testing during our new year.
So if you have an old computer and very impatient do not try Ubuntu. I tried the DVD version but the CD version did not give the above problems but failed to recognize windows and other Linux distribution when first booted up.
So my honeymoon with Unity ended abruptly and I hope they remedy these deficiencies sooner than late.
It is called L.T.S and they should withdraw that label till the patch work is done and GRUB is updated  with stable script.
I am not going to write an update again for another six months.
I wish somebody do a thorough investigation of Unity Ubuntu.
I must tel you after 5 days I manged to download Linux Debian MATE / Cinnamon and would write about it when I have time.
It booted live but I did not install it due to my obsession with Ubuntu.

Google Drive Update

Google Drive is not yet ready with Linux application version yet.
However, my documents with Google were transferred to Google Drive intact and Firefox browser can link it without an application installed in your Linux.
You will have to have a Gmail address, though.
That is of course is very smart move by Google but Linux guys are watching it all the same.
Android which is customized Linux or is it tinkered with CODE with few extra bit of code belonging to Google.
That of course is not SMART, though.
I hope they will release the extra code as open source, sooner than late.
Please do not try Apple Ploys.

Tails-i386-0.11-Anonymous-Amnesia

Tails-i386-0.11-Anonymous-Amnesia Linux.
Debian based tails is (i386) is out is very handy if one want to be anonymous.
I booted it up with my extra computer and Google did not let me access my email and was asking me the two step verification which I did not have.
I immediately signed up for two way verification which was painful procedure, making me running to answer the telephone which is located in the ground floor to get the verification number.
Then I waited for application / equipment specific password which was 12 letters long and did not let me verify it with my computer running open not anonymous.
The I went to the other computer loaded with anonymous, tails and when I  tried the Gmail, it tells me to enter a number ending 75 but the ending  number was 91.
So I can now tell you that even with the most elegant search engine Google could not locate my second computer which was one number up in the IP address protocol.
Both computers were log in at the same time with the same router and it is an ample proof that tails is working fine and hiding  my IP address well, when anonymous is booted.

Orca the utility for blind was working like a rocket scientist and it could even pronounce the word SINHALA in English letters.
If you are in any godforsaken country where your police or the government is eavesdropping on you, go to the nearest cafe and download tails.
At the moment it is only developed in i386 version and available at www.linuxtracker.org.
When you download the torrent will detect the seeders using anonymous addresses, elsewhere in the www globe and I advise, you better cancel them when the torrent prompts you.
It may be the American L.P.L (DOD version)-(Light and Private Linux) that is eavesdropping on you and sending wrong data, all the same to your computer to corrupt the image.
Please do not use L.P.L because every time you use LPL it sends a message  to American D.O.D and that is how President Obama is running USA with paranoia.
I hope they will not vote for him again, if bright Americans are reading this message.

Why I disagree with Distrowatch Statistics and Say Ubuntu is the Number One Linux Desktop?

Why I disagree with Distrowatch Statistics and Say Ubuntu is the Number One  Linux Desktop?
My gut feeling tells me that Ubuntu is the Number One Linux desktop.
I have collaborative evidence.

Number One
I have been downloading Linux distribution for the last three years years for testing.
I started with point to point and it was a painful procedure.
In fact in the beginning I had to do the downloading in a foreign country when I was on a short holiday.
Our download speed then was pity /pretty paltry (even now).
Then I changed over to k-torrent (I have written a piece here why one should use torrent instead of point to point) and Ubuntu was the only distribution I could download pretty fast.
There are many SEEDERS as well as Leechers.
I am currently downloading Ubuntu Studio which used to be very slow few years ago but going on smoothly over taking all the other distributions including LinuxMint Debian Mate which are in the queue for downloading.
For the last  4 days I was trying it and only one seeder.

Number Two.
I have no reason to disbelieve Mark Shuttleworth.
If he says there are currently 12 million users and will be 20 million at the end of this year,
I do not like to contest his claims.
He knows what he is talking about.
He is a guy who gave away Ubuntu FREE (CD / DVD) to millions over the world and I got a Collection of CD/DVD from his canonical sources, since my download speed was slow three years ago.

Number Three
I have never heard a guy / girl saying he / she using any other Linux distribution in this part of the world.
I do not use Ubuntu but I always test its latest version/s and write about it/them.
My reason for not using Ubuntu is also stated elsewhere.
One reason out of the many was not supporting Sinhala.
Redhat was the first to support Sinhala and Debian has default Sinhala installation now.
But I use Ubuntu derivatives and Debian liberally and in fact I love Pinguy Linux.
Government schools use Hanthana Linux which is a Redhat derivative and it is still not popular.

Number Four
It has all the packages both in common use and academic.

Number Five
Ubuntu One, the cloud service has hit over billion users few months ago.
It is popular and nobody can take over the evolutionary niche it has established in the WORLD of LINUX.
It is a matter for others to catch up with it.
If not other Linux distributions will become a piece of statistics in the History of Linux.
Ubuntu has given the other Linux distributions a leeway by promoting Unity Desktop.
It is time the other Linux distributions speak up for themselves with novel innovations.
Now that Texstar has taken a backseat even PCLINUX which I support because of FULLMONTY should take a leaf out of Ubuntu Evolution.
Mind you, PCLINUX was only in English few years ago but not now.

Google Drive Me MAD

Google Drive
This is just to say Google sometimes drive me MAD.
They have done an overall on the blog page and I have to re-learn all what was second nature to me for over two years.
I cannot access their Google Drive Cloud Service since I only use Linux.
As it is Google Drive is for Windows and Mac.
That is very unfair and that is us why 8 million will join Ubuntu this year making it 20 million regular users.
Mind you I do not use Ubuntu but Pinguy which is Debian and Ubuntu derivative and is classy desktop is my Guy.
Ubuntu has Ubuntu One Cloud Service and it has hit billion mark already and Google Chrome has no reliable desktop for desktop users or cloud service for Linux Guys and Girls.
It is way behind as far as Ubuntu is concerned.
It is trying to emulate Apple now that Steve Job is gone but their CEOs are falling behind and causes time lag for me.
Are they falling behind two tools/stools (pardon me for my incorrect use of English Language).
I will make a post flattering Google when they send me a link to Google Drive.
Not that I have 5 GiB load and all my books are with Amazon and they have AWS (cloud service) too.
Amazon is way ahead of everybody and that is why publishers are Grumpy now with Amazon.

Ubuntu 12.04 (Long Term Support) L.T.S

Please do not confuse with Unity Linux which is small CLI distribution based on old Mandriva (now run by Russians).
CLI means Command Line Interface for Developers and not for general users.
Recntly its Virtual Server RAIDs had gone bust and they are doing repair work

UbuntuÅ› Unity desktop is out and I am currently downloading it for testing.
I must confess I am not an Ubuntu FAN and was never, coming from the old school of Linux user base.
I still use PCLinux (FullMonty) 32 bit version which works well even with bit 64 machines, just as well.
There are two CDs one for 32 bits and one for 64 bits.
If you have a new computer go for the 64 bits CD
UbuntuÅ› is targeting 20 Million users this year (up from 12 million currently users).
I hope they provide a good customer service which is extremely difficult when the user base is over one million, let alone 20 million.
There will always be grumblers coming from Microsoft base.
My Advice.
One CD is not enough (700 MiB) to pack all the utilities one needs in day to day use and downloading and configuring new software is pain in the A.R. xxxxsS even for a Linux expert.
If any of your readers are reading my books at least in the digital form in Amazon and my evaluation is that one needs a minimum of I GiB DVD with software but ideally 1.5 GiB DVD to get everything right in the first time installation.
For that reason there over 200 or more Linux distributions to choose.
This is over and above the little distributions (the book I intend to write within this year) which include Damn Small Linux (50 MiB)and Puppy under 100 MiB.
I have downloaded the latest latest Puppy game console and it is in my main computer now and if am bored I can play some very very old DOS, Atari and Commodore 64 games which run fabulously fast unlike the modern Graphic CRAVVY games.
I started computer games with Commodore 128 and Linux was not heard then and Windows was crawling and teething then.
Good Luck with Linux!
Asoka
PS.
No mention about Skype and Abiword (my favorite and I use for all my book writings) and Ubuntu One Cloud Service is one of the best cloud services, currently not Dropbox.
There is also a Google derivative with 5 GiB which I have not tried it yet.
Google had made a MESS out of the blog site and thank good I had a break for blog writing 14 days.

Habitat Destruction and bird migration.

Habitat Destruction and bird migration.
I was excited and wanted to report the unusual bird sighting including eagles this year.
My jubilation and excitement to see number of eagles are short lived.
I happened to see a young one hovering in my neighborhood.
The reason for this sighting is due to their displacement from their normal habit.
The nature vultures with political backing are clearing the trees of the protected reserve illegally.
Bird have no choice but to leave their natural habitat even before they are big enough to fend themselves.

I have some collaborative evidence too.
There were three to four species of birds (forest dwelling) who were frequenting our neighbourhood and I was about to boast myself and pat my back and carry a banner to say it was all  because of our environmental drive.
Making room and fruits available for them to feed were my intended themes for this observation.
Thank god, I did not write these bull shiii before.

I am wiser now.
Unusually the dry season without rain made the leaves of the tree where they nested to fall.
I could see three nests not fully built.
The birds who were getting ready were exposed and the hovering crows made them to disappear soon.

Now they come only looking for food and water.
There were four to five episodes of setting fire to the nature reserve deliberately.
Most of the fire started near where bird were building nests for ages if not centuries.

This in the name of development and I gather with the political backing some structures are also springing up encroaching the nature reserve.

All these time even the Municipality which was run by the opposition did not encourage such shady deals.
But now it is all free with no opposition to raise a voice.

All the sighting were not natural migration or expansion.
It is eviction by default.
Our neighbourhood was their temporary transit.
Evicted from their natural habitat they had no choice.
I am sure I am not going to see any of them next season or next year.
They will be gone for good.

Bird lovers watch out for the fallout and the unusual sightings.

They are migrating from East to West.
In the West too there are nature vultures clearing their habitat unabated.
I think the environmental minister gives a tacit approval to these activities by his inaction and blind sight.
There are no NGOs looking after the interests of birds of this country unfortunately.
There is NO reporting of these illegal activities, due to fear of recriminations by bigwigs..

Linux Ultimatum-I am Finishing with FinniX

Linux Ultimatum-Finishing with FinniX
It is almost 3 years that I had being trying to promote Linux.
I am going to wind up writing on Linux from the end of this month.
You won't believe why I am going to do that.
It has nothing to do with Linux or visitors to my site.
Nearly half a million had visited my blog site .
(This is a white lie).

{Only topped 50,000 and nowhere near a Million.
The other lie that I won't write about Linux.
That is also a big lie and I will write about Linux till cows come home as and when a new trend in Linux emerges.
As it is the changes are cosmetic and desktop appearance which I do not bother about since there are so many light weigh desktops to choose}.
Edited on the 25th of March

Thank you and you had been a source of strength.

It is all due to money and price hike of electricity.
1. I cannot afford to pay a huge electricity bill.
It has almost tripled.

2. Second reason is slow internet.

3.Third is abrupt power cuts and interruption to downloads and my sleep.

All these due to irrational Engineers who are paying lip service to politicians and bungling in economics and power generation.
Besides rain also failing when there is power cut we do not have water too.
We are heading for disaster like "crabs in a boiling pot".
We are getting cooked for no fault of ours.
We sacrificed and tighten our belts when war was rampaging but we asked to do more.
This is not realistic to me.
Fortunately I have written four books which are available at Amazons during our industrial action period.
Currently I am writing a book on Placenta and its its clinical relevance with any help from the University.
That is taking a big tall on me.
{This is true and I have finished two volumes and the third will be out soon!
Currently working on a book on Digital Microscopes}
The real reason was I was terribly busy to spend time on blogging but I have to break that now and write about India and its turning Tables on Little Lanka and reading stories to American politicians (I do not  think that all Americans are stupid enough to believe India).

Finishing with Finnix, it is a tiny distribution of about 100 MiB with lot of administrative tools and bug fixes.
It is Debian based.
I am currently downloading it.
It (Finnix) came on the Valentine Day with love to all Linux guys and girls and we we married on the day before.
I missed Finnix (Linux) and my wife missed or forgot the day we were got married.
I was one up on the deal.
If you are a Linux guy or a girl do not forget your loved ones, the community and your closest friends.
They need a little pat on the back.
I am currently listing all the little distributions (little book will be the outcome) and that will soon be in Kindle and Amazon.
So Good Bye.
I will be here if I have had good dreams with Maha Brahma helping me.
We need god's help to get rid of the bad guys in politics who are ruining little we have.
THANK YOU, Google and you are doing a wonderful job.
The blog front has an easy and nice face front.
You have done a very good face lift.
THANK YOU.

Dream 27 and its interpretation

Dream 27
This was a long convoluted dream where past and present were merged together.
I had gone back to my past but the dream was in the present.
It is a real good dream in dream word's sense.
I had returned home from abroad during the early days of open economy booming in Sri-Lanka.
The days of J.R.J when we had everything in plenty including free time off work.
Added to the excitement I was alone and not married.
I had come on a long holiday to enjoy the sunshine and this was a long tour outside Colombo.
Unfortunately true to its form I can remember only the latter part.
I had thoroughly enjoyed the holiday alone and I was alighting from (probably) a tour bus and I got out first.
As I was coming down the steps to enjoy the last destination of our sponsored tour.
Strangely, three local ladies of middle age (suffice to say they were older than me) who were dressed up like the westerners, joined me in conversation.
Mind you I was the youngest of the tour party and all the others were middle age and above and many were foreign guys and girls.
All these time I was a free bird and thoroughly engrossed in my own dream tour, did not bother to make any acquaintanceship with anybody except the tour driver.
I told them the present youth do not know how to enjoy life.
They are either jobless or doing studies to old age to get a good job.
That led them not to enjoy the youth.
Then I remember saying I need to buy some vegetable to take home to prepare something for dinner.
They said there is a lovely garden down the steps and there is a section with fresh vegetables for pick and pluck as you wish.
I thought, this was like visiting a farm in summer in England.
I was surprised that, I was away only a short time and the open economy had done wonders in Sri-Lanka.
As I was about to enter the garden they told me this is Sri-Lanka and when you enter the garden, you must give religious respect to the garden and remove the shoes.
I was wearing very expensive shoes and was reluctant to remove them, knowing very well when I return, they will be missing in spite of the free and open economy.
I was given almost a military (just like when you enter Dalada Maligawa, The Temple of the Tooth, in Kandy) like march order to remove them.
They took some money from me and gave me a ticket too.
I asked them where can I do some shopping for which they said when you come up the steps and proceed towards the town, there is a big shopping mall round the corner and one has to go down the steps to the underground level and there are lot of bargains.
I must tell you, I took off my suit and put it in a carrier bag made for the suit in leather and I did not part with it when I dished out my shoes for a paid ticket.
Mind you they did not charge me to enter the garden unlike in UK.
As I entered, I felt like as I was entering the Kew Garden in London.
One has to walk in a maze like contour made for walking.
Except the pathway on which we walked, all round was greenery.
Naturally, I slowed down and was watching and touching every plant with affection.
They were made like platforms and I saw exotic plants I had never seen in my life.
Strangely enough every plant was sealed to a chain like structure that wrap round thier bellies.
As if the anybody try to remove them an electric shock like feature and an alarm were activated by default.
These ladies did not slow down and they thought I was a ladies man and that I will follow them soon enough.
Instead I took the opportunity to avoid them whole heartedly and proceeded to the vegetable garden.
I picked some and I cannot remember what I picked since the exotic plants took my imagination away from my supper and the vegetables.
They were just ordinary to me but the plants were exotic.
Then to cut the story short, I eventually climbed up from another flight of steps and when I finally emerged at last, I saw the ladies in another flight of steps far away from me.
I asked them how to find my shoes.
They said go round and down again which I did religiously so far impressed by the shear beauty of the place.
Then when I finally found the place, which looked dirty but instead leading to a public toilet.
They gatekeeper asked me to leave my hand luggage and took my ticket for the shoes and did not give me a receipt for my hand luggage which contained my priced suit.

I felt very strange and fishy by the time I reached the bottom.

The place was worse than a London Underground toilet and I could not find my shoes.
I was ripped off my shoes and my suit in less than an hour of the final phase of the guided tour.
With the nasty stench I woke up.
I knew I was ripped off and hoodwinked even without any interpretation from heaven.
That is the long and short of the dream.

I thought this was a nice one for Maha Brahma.
Also I now filter all my dreams and select all the good ones and the others are kept in a back burner, in case I have some lone period of insomnia with the heat we are enjoying now in Kandy without rain.

My plants are wilting and drying by the day.

Maha Brahma was prompt.
Before he could open his voice (mail to be precise), I told him I am sorry, I interrupted my dream on my own volition.

Just as good, he said, I was about to wake you up anyway.
Why?
If you decided to go to the shopping mall to get replacements for your shoes and the suit, you were in for a shock.

Is it that bad.
Let me tell you the rest.
If you proceeded and went up to the shopping mall, there is a long electric escalator to take you down.

Normally it is stationary.
The moment you step in it starts going down slowly and right at the center it stops abruptly.

The choice for you is to either climb down or climb up.
Which one you chose he asked me?
I said climb up.
Why?
It saves me energy and climbing down takes more energy physiologically.
Is that so.
YES.
I did not know that fact.
In heaven there is no gravity you know.

Besides, I do not know whether going down will lead me to hell or how steep it was.

I only knew how much, I went down and that distance realistically I was able to climb up for sure anyway.
GOOD BOY, he said.
You are brighter than, the credit I have given you till now.
Not at all I said.

I have experienced these godforsaken things before I went to UK and we could not go to Oval to watch a cricket match alone and one's watch get ripped off and if one goes to Mattakkulia before Mr.Premadasa's time, your gold chain would disappear with a knife point ( no T 56 those days and we knew how to run).

So you did not watch cricket, then?
No we went there in a gang and nobody would try one's luck with us with our macho image.

If you went down you would have been dead meat.
Why?
Those ladies will eat you alive.
They are carnivorous.

They take your wallet and what ever left of you and if you had not had a heart attack by the end of your journey down, they will kill you or eat you alive.
Are they devils?
No, they every inch a human but they are cannibalistic.
Is this the future?
Is it a foreign country like Papua New Guinea.
NO.
They are all Sri-Lankans.
Do not con?
We were promised miracles by our politicians after we won the war.
This is worse then the war know.

Calm down my son.
This is the future.
You would be long gone by then.
What then is the interpretation SIR?
Did you see any greenery in your dream.
YES, in the the garden.
Did you see anywhere else?
Absolutely not.
The garden you visited was the only place where there were any plants.
It is like the greenhouses that are in London.
You know how they are kept.
They heat it during winter to get the tropical climate.
What is the different, in future.
Global warming will reach its peak.
All plants will die unless they are kept under a canopy like structure with entry of controlled sunlight.
The garden you saw was cooled to an ideal temperature for some selected plants to be grown.
Nobody is allowed to venture into it except the scientists.
You had a glimpse of the future.
Human had no alternative but to become cannibals.
What about carnivores?
All the animal have disappeared from the planet earth, by then except a few like cockroaches and geckos.
Can you give me the time scale of this happenings?
NO.
Why?
Politicians especially the Americans may not like it to be declared now.
They want it to kept as a top secret.
Why?
They are already stockpiling the plants that survive the scenario described.
See you soon with another dream and he disappeared.

TS-5.0 is Cloud Ready Thin Station

TS-5.0 is Cloud Ready Thin Station
Linux is cloud ready and TS -5.0 is doing an excellent work upfront.
It is only 217 MiB but oint to point download was painful.
I had to download it twice.
First time 2 MiB was missing.

It is OpenBox thin client and solid as it is with gparted and x-terminal and install information in the CD.
One can install it as a server and unfortunately I am busy and do not have a spare computer to try as at present.
I hope they improve the documentation and include step by stem I proxy and IP address set up for window user.
It is bit posh and has a wireless (I removed my wireless router due to security reasons and have only an Ethernet connection currently) connectivity.
Thank YOU, Guys and Girls at Thin Station developers.
You are doing a wonderful preparation for Cloud Computing.

Reproduction with Beauty

This is a reproduction and it is a beautiful piece.
I agree with all except being FAT.
Practically everything else is what I say and practice.
It is related to  Moment Meditation (MM) and that is all what we all have in common and not taken care of.
If every one enjoys the present moment this world is going to be a wonderful place.
One does not need to be old to practice it.
Unfortunately Wisdom comes too late to enjoy!

I have some proviso's for the elderly, though!
I give the physiological reason afterword.

1. Don't have a big booze, especially one for the door.
2. Don't come out when it is freezing cold outside without adequate warm clothing. Drinking cold beverages is an equivalent scenario.
Staining at stools is one of the bad predicament for the elderly. Which is bit more complex than a cold drink.
3. Don't walk against the breeze.
4. Don't walk up a hill with heavy luggage in both hands.
5. Enjoy your sleep especially the dreams.
6. Don't do vigorous exercise without slow and gradual warm up (this applies to YOUNG too).
Alcohol causes vasodilatation (that include coronaries too).
When one comes out after the one for the door one is exposed to cold weather which triggers intense vasoconstriction which shoots up the Blood Pressure.
This combination is bad for both heart and brain.
Trigger Heart Attacks and Strokes.
If one is predisposed it will also bring about heart failure and pulmonary oedema which compromise everything that one had enjoyed inside.
Others also have similar mechanisms except that the exercise can bring about Asthma in the predisposed especially the cold air which start the episode with cough.
Bottom line is keep warm and avoid scenarios of excessive vasodilatation and constriction.
Sorry for the preamble but enjoy what is below which is very beautiful writing.

If you have time read my dreams and their interpretations in this blog and elsewhere.
I have already two volumes in Amazon (both print and digital).
Most of them are futuristic and when one retires, one can be happy that we are leaving this world at relative PEACE.
In future with global warming and food scarcity, would will have a very BIG ROUGH PATCH to which America, India, China, Brazil and more importantly UNO is not ready.
They are putting everything under the carpet and think some of my environmental prediction will never will come.
It is like ostrich hiding his head under sand.
Reproduction
Reproduction with Beauty
As I've aged.
I've  become kinder to myself, and less critical of  myself.
I've become my own friend.

I  have seen too many dear friends leave this  world, too soon; before they understood the  great freedom that comes with aging.

Whose business is it,  if I choose to read, or play, on the computer,  until 4 AM, or sleep until noon?
I will  dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of  the 60 &70's, and if I, at the same time,  wish to weep over a lost love, I will.

I  will walk the beach, in a swim suit that is  stretched over a bulging body, and will dive  into the waves, with abandon, if I choose to,  despite the pitying glances from the jet  set.
They, too, will get old.

I  know I am sometimes forgetful.
But there  again, some of life is just as well forgotten.
And, I eventually remember the important  things.

Sure, over the years, my heart  has been broken.
How can your heart not  break, when you lose a loved one, or when a  child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved  pet gets hit by a car?
But, broken hearts  are what give us strength, and understanding,  and compassion.
A heart never broken, is  pristine, and sterile, and will never know the  joy of being imperfect.

I am so blessed to  have lived long enough to have my hair turning  grey to have my youthful laughs be forever  etched into deep grooves on my face.
So  many have never laughed, and so many have died  before their hair could turn silver.

As you  get older, it is easier to be positive.
You care  less about what other people think.
I don't  question myself anymore.
I've even earned the  right to be wrong.

So, to  answer your question, I like being old.
It  has set me free.
I like the person I have  become.
I am not going to live forever,  but while I am still here, I will not waste time  lamenting what could have been, or worrying  about what will be.
And I shall eat  dessert every single day (if I feel like  it).

Dream 25 and its interpretation

Dream 25
I was in an air port.
This airport was different and I had to purchase the ticket from the airport counter itself.
There were lot of other people queuing to by tickets.
Lot of them looked like refugees trying to enter a new country.
I had one heavy luggage and a light handbag.
Somehow I managed to get a ticket for the immediate flight.
I checked the heavy luggage in a hurry.
Then I entered an area which looked like the departure lounge but looked very primitive.
I went into a gate to inquire and they checked my ticket with the only computer they had and said I have to wait for another 9 hours, for the flight.
When I asked why?
I was told that the pilot had not reported for work.
I felt strange.
They then told me the real departure lounge is a walking distance away from where we were and there are no taxis to take you there.
It is a nice walkaway, by the side of the Hotel International, I was told.
Since I had a very light hand luggage, I decided to take a stroll.
I walked passed the hotel, thinking it was only a joyride.
Moment I passed the hotel, I went into a heavily buildup area and lost my way.
I asked a passerby to show me the way and he said go straight and down.
I went up straight and ended up on top of a steep wall and there was no way to climb down.
Then by stroke of luck I found a side walk which was dirty and rickety.
With difficulty I finally reached the bottom which led to what looked like a street market.
There were lot of people who were doing lot of road side buying and selling.
Quite like, London in medieval times.
I felt I had been laid the wrong garden path.
To begin with, I lost all my belongings with my heavy luggage at the entrance of what for all intents and purposes was a bogus airport.
I was frightened and woke up immediately.
Posted this to Maha Brahma after the dream 26 was posted, thinking this has no relevance to it.
Maha immediately responded and asked me why this was not posted with the other.
I said I did not see any connection.
Interpretation.
He said this has a direct relationship.
You will know it better when I expand on the story.
In your dream 26 I said one has to follow 10 points.
YES.
If Sri-Lankan do not follow those instructions to the letter, what I am going to say now will happen in about 50 years, he said.
Things are not rosy in 50 years time.
Why?
Can you guess?
Global Warming.
No.
Global warming is already set in and it won't change.
I think so.
It was only yesterday my pet fishes were almost cooked to dinner from direct sunlight.
All of them were floating on top of the water and I rescued them in nick of time and put them in some buckets that contained cooler water.
Had I come half an hour late, all of them would have been dead.
What did you do afterward.
I changed the water with some cool water I had collected for an emergency.
Then I covered the top and side with black plastic sheeting.
Fixed a new filter.
Put the air compressor on full throttle.
Did your fish die.
Thank god, not this time!
I checked the indoor temperature later which was 90 Fahrenheit and outside was probably higher.
Fish die at 84 F and it was touch and go scenario.
Can you have a second guess.
No fossil fuel and no planes.
That's right my boy.
In fifty years from now there are no fossil fuel and no airbus industry.
The airports built now will be idling and the industry that were built around them will go bankrupt.
Soon the the jungle take over the periphery.
But there will be few animals and the entire elephant fleet in the jungle is not more than fifty.
They roam in 5 to 10 in a herd and go violent moment they see humans.
Since humans now do not have jeeps or vehicles and have to travel by foot elephants do not fear humans anymore.
They rule the little vegetation that is there.
Global warming has caused untold misery in this country and it is no different from Dubai where England now play cricket with Pakistan.
Why did you interrupt my dream?
If I left it for another five minutes you would have lost the hand luggage and, you thought of hiding in the jungle nearby.
Had you entered there for cover the elephants will trample you to death.
I had to intervene for your safety.
Can you tell me where this place was?
The name is something like Hambantota.
I got it.
See you soon.
OK.
