I have to mention a few important points here.

I strongly discourage point to point download of Linux Iso images for good reason. If the link breaks down in a point to point download and a few files (one has to do a checksum) are broken in the chain, one is left with a corrupt Iso image. It won’t boot or install. 

This is where trying a Live CD or DVD is important for a newbie.

File corruption does not happen with Torrent Downloads.

All the long standing distributions, some of them which are dysfunctional today have contributed to Linux Tracker Archive, a Stable Torrent Image before they wound up the operations. So one can download and test them at leisure, even if they are inactive. I had the habit of downloading Linux images from Linux Tracker Archive for testing purposes. 

My idea was to build an archive of old the distributions I downloaded. I still have over 800 Isos (mostly 32 bit) in my collection gathering dust. When Linux Tracker came into existence, it took a big burden from my head.

For few years, I did not visit this site.

I was looking for Gparted and SparkyLinuxGameOver images to download and I ended up going back to their archive and found it is still doing a yeoman service, free of charge. 

By the way, this is different from www.distrowatch.com which highlights distributions according to page hits. So some of the distributions are not listed in www.distrowatch.com, whereas all the distributions posted in LinuxTracker site remain there for ever.

The latest images are posted in pages I, 2 and 3 and the older on 4,5, 6, 7 etc, with the date of the posting mentioned. Not only Linux but BSD images are also posted at this site.

The Redhat based CentOS community stopped developing the distribution abruptly, However, AlmaLinux community kept on following the tradition with a new brand name. Linux distributions going inactive is completely normal but there are enough derivatives that continue to expand from the point of the last release (of inaction).

When history is written by independent historians (unless he has got money from the Democratic Party to write- that is the usual case in American Politics), there is nothing much to write about him, except he remained as the Vice President (while his son was doing shoddy things in Ukraine like Barisma) quite impotent.

He was born to be politically impotent, that is what the MIC or Military Industrial Complex wants, any would be Democratic or Republican politician to be in White House.

Anybody who question the MIC is taken to task and that is probably what happened to President Trump.

He has his own undoing, it is for the Republican Party to find an escape goat and until President Trump came into politics from a business background Republicans were in total slumber.

1. President Biden did sweet nothing to promote himself. 

He was impotent, in that sense.

2. It was the CDC, Chair Person who catapulted him to politics by giving dead ropes to the White House and President Trump.

3. For his fault President being a businessman thought CDC Guy was credible.

President Trump should not have trusted him and should have his own credible guy's to advice him on WHO and Public Health matters.

After all he is the President of America and can has his own cabinet of experts unlike in UK.

He did not Mike Pence was yes man under him.

He was slimy little Italian guy who played politics with the pandmic.

4. If not for him President Biden would not have surfaced with Mrs, Clinton doing some bidding in the Democratic party.

5. What President Biden did was to hijack (that is what all politicians in the opposition do) Republican party's proposals, as they came from his own brain.

6. Biden has no diplomatic brain at all.

The way he treated President Putin will come to hurt America diplomatically for many more years to come.

For his part President Putin tried to mend fences with the West.

He was very caustious.

If not for Biden's lack of long term diplomatic vision President Putin would never have invaded Ukraine.

The cautious guy became belligerent.

7. His additional paranoia with China made even Xi Jing Ping become assertive.

It would have been Xi coming to America to divest his silicone dream.

What is happening is they are becoming less dependent on American chips and are currently implementing, secretly though, an ambitious silicone chip manufacturing complexes / plants (in multiples) in mainland China.

I do not carry a brief for Putin or Trump or Xi but when history is wrriten in real context those points I have raised above will have to be scrutinized carefully.

Americas downfall and emergence of BRICS are almost simultaneous, in my belief.

Small country like Ceylon cannot buy high-tech-stuff only from the West.

NUC from Intel may be the last  that I may be able to purchase.

We have to look for cheaper and alternative choises.

It has already begun with the food crisis looming.

It is a lot to cover but all are inter connected and never integrated.

I am in the process of writing a book on mosquitoes.

This time with a difference.

I am writing everything good about mosquitoes, not necessarily in evolutionary terms.

In UK and USA all emigrants are despised like mosquitoes.

Why?

It is all about Racism and White is Superior Mentality ingrained in the System.

In UK on the surface, it looks fair to Asian immigrants.

In my time 60% of the N.H.S (most likely their UNHAPPY descendants are also trapped in the same System) was staffed by Asians. 

In fact we had an Overseas Doctors Association to voice our grievances.

It did not take long for me to realize that I was posted to all the remote places where White (if there were white guys they were Irish by descent) British Guys did not want to work. 

I wanted to work in a University setup and I knew the Universities were exclusively for the British.

I had enough working experience in Ceylon and did not have to learn anything new (In fact-White guys from Germany and Poland- They too were discriminated in the System-).

French dare come to UK! 

These guys were visibly not pleased that they had to learn the basics from an Asian Guy.

I did not enjoy it at all but all my intentions were to hang on till I was eligible for a paltry pension (certainly not the citizenship - it was natural after 6 years of continuous service, one is eligible for resident status, those days) which I had to wrestle a bit with the N.H.S, as an overseas agent.

They actually use the word agent as is in spy agents of 007 of James Bond type.

Now to the crunch point of Ceylon Postal Service which was established by the British in early 1880 to pay the salaries of the expatriates (another technical term in colonial history) has gone to dogs (really termites) with the current UNP/SLPP administration retrenching the postal workers to establish a private commercial venture.

The letter from the Pension Department that I received recently was eaten by termites at the Post Office.

In fact, I had to cut the top margin and spray thinner to kill termite eggs, so that my books are not invaded by them in lss than 3 months.

Going digital is not thew solution.

This is the point Katy Lake should jump on and invest the next two years.

There is “de facto” and “de juro” terminology in government census and election terminology.

I go for, ONLY de facto (at least six months of the working year) guys and girls should be voting. I do not want the guys who come for temporary work status voting in my district.

They should go back to their own residential areas and vote. By doing that one can estimate the mobile population who are like termites, if not mosquitoes who deprive the resources for poor locals. The mosquitoes one can kill in their act of blood sucking but the termites are underground and come out only during mating season. They are the food for the frogs and toads and we have a resident lady frog who comes to devour the termite flies. The male fly I think die after mating and I thank the lady frog for the service she render BUT the Queen of the Termite Colony, I think live for over 100 years.

I have nothing against the ants.

There much versatile and have large soldiers who invariably look after my orchid flowers.

Kary Lake should point out that de facto vote is more important and the postal votes will be attacked by the termites, if they stop counting over weekends and take such a long time to count, them.

It is painful and I thank myself, I am not in America witnessing this saga.

The problem for Ceylon is when the next election round comes nobody would get the 50% of the total vote and they will keep counting the second choice and the third choice and by the time counting is finished 50% of the ballots will be eaten by termites (mind you ants do not eat paper, they have better taste buds) and the lawyers will make representation for termites (environmental issue now).

Just in time, I got an environmental issue interposed in between to highlight the failure of the WHO to curtail Corona Virus pandemic.

I have few more point to dish out.

The mosquitoes is easy.

I thank them for the British leaving this country.

British left not because of Mahatma Gandhi but because of mosquitoes (in Ceylon it was leeches and the wounds the leech bites made got infested).

The malaria mosquitoes do not breed above 2500 feet and that is why most of the governors lived in Nuwara Eliya just above 2500 feet. Leeches do not come out and they are happy (like democratic politicians who do not want to shed their perks, Nancy Pelosy and her husband are classic examples of geriatrics who govern USA, Mitch McConnell is no different ) with one meal once a year.

I have two counts left.

Congratulate to England Team and Ben Stokes (who had a torrid time in the past) for winning another Trophy. Yes cricket belongs to England and not Indian I.P.L (pandemic killed cricket in India and I feel very sorry for Virath Koli. 

Such an elegant player who has no place in this big bash tournaments.

I have now only left with the insect, the crickets.

I planted 10 maize seeds to support RW Rajapaska.

Only two germinated and one plant already showing signs of ill health. Probably the larva is eating up the stem. 

 I do not want the crickets to come and rot the remaining exotic plants in my rooftop garden.

No more germinating maize seeds.

I was following the American election with one thing in mind.

Will the Americans (both Democrats and Republicans) change from War Mongering to Peaceful Global Existence?

War is in American blood, the simple answer to the question raised is BIG NO.

 

I come from a country where we fought internecine war brought on by India for 35 odd years and I hate War.

 

The end result is our coffers are empty and we are no better than a sub-Saharan country, while the war mongers pilfered everything out of this country.

 

I think the Corona Virus pandemic was something welcome (low death rate) and ordinary citizens started coming to senses and coming back to basic human values without discrimination.

 

From nowhere America brought a War on Ukraine using a puppet actor. 

  

In our country minority raised against the majority but in Ukraine majority raised against the minority Russians.

 

That did not leave any room for Russia to sit and wait.

 

This War was started by America in 2014 and EU abetting.

Over 50% of the arms delivered to Ukraine is going elsewhere including to African subcontinent.

 

That is the American Design since Senate cannot approve them without oversight.

 

There is bipartisan support to pour in more and more weapons to Ukraine. 

Original idea was regime change in Russia.

For their part Russians did not meddle in US politics.

They knew whichever party comes to power Russo-Phobia will continue. 

 

On the contrary Russia is self sufficient in Oil, Gas, food and Vodka whereas West is reeling with Economic Crisis.

 

Come Winter 2023 Germany, Italy and France are in dire straights.

 

UK is no different and seems to be the worst affected.

 

Coming back to today's topic:

 

Only The Corrupt Stay in Politics

 

I have to refine this statement bit further by saying that the corrupt take up politics and stay in politic for ever.

This is totally against the management policy I used to a talk lot  about, many moons ago, "The Total Quality Management" training to which on a latter day was added the term "Equal Opportunity".

It looks like Quality does not apply to politicians of all colours and shades.

The basic ingredient is corruption.

I used to apply this only to developing countries and it looks like, the West is catching up fast, especially the Americans.

 

Just look at the amount of money the Democratic Governors added to the mid term elections (bills).

They are never accounted for  and they come as donations and free from TAXES.

It is staggering high and they are openly boasting about it.

 

Whereas, the election officials who work over 8 hours are not paid enough to meet their family needs.

 

Of course, they cannot take trade union action to represent their needs.

 

Just giving a few old computers, poorly networked is not going to help. 

Actually the computers are a hindrance.

 

The American system is bizarre.

It takes weeks for the final result to come out.

They have no appetite for simplifying the process.

 

I will highlight only a few.

It takes days and weeks to count the ballot.

That leaves ground for malpractices.

If this method is applied in Ceylon we will have twice the number of registered ballot papers counted in a given polling station.

We know how to engineer elections.

 

We had a President who changed ballot boxes that come from the North of the country and exchanged for new and original ballot boxes (with marked ballot parers) in Air (I mean in helicopters and his security guys saying "Yea Sir" ).

In another event,

 

My father in law who passed away  3 months before the election came back from heaven and voted for a female president (on her second coming).

My father in law who was a teacher in Comparative Religion was so devoted to his duty he even voted as an absentee voter.

 

I was privy to this incident and verified this incident and made a formal complaint (nothing happened).

 

In my case I did not register for 20 years so nobody could steal my vote and worked hard to get the National Identity Card as a prerequisite for getting the ballot paper to vote.

 

By the way, a current MP in parliament and his wife have multiple ID cards.

There are currently about 20 MPs who are ineligible to become a MP due to dual citizenship are enjoying the parliamentary privileges (I call them political prostitutes).

 

The parliamentary secretary who is a Public Servant never checks or verify these facts, even though he is assigned for these jobs.

 

Then there is a Guy who is a total alcoholic and scrounger in parliament. 

For over 30 years he is a list MP.

 

He has the gift of the gab only when he has three times the legal level of alcohol in his blood and he replenishes, it from the parliament bar.

His salary is not enough to pay the alcohol bill and other members pour him enough to get his tongue twisted to the need of the one who pours (other members) the drink (who is unable to speak for self).

With my management skills I can detect all the loopholes in a System of Voting whether paper based or digital.

It is common sense but I won't volunteer the US Government to detect any system faults.

I am totally against the vote in absentia (absentee ballot) for very good reasons unless he or she is working in essential services (really speaking this is also not necessary- one can give half a day break on full pay ) on the day of the election.

 

Equally the elections should be done on day light hours of a non-working (either Sunday or Saturday) day.

 

The bottom line is the process should be simple to administer and it is visible to the voter at the time of the voting. 

In Ceylon we have done all that is required to get the system in order.

Can you guess the final outcome?

The voter interest dropped to 60% from 80%.

 

We love corruption and the moment it is eliminated people lose interest in voting.

 

Our current president lost his seat in the last popular election.

 

He has (list MP by default) devised an ingenious (legally dubious) method to manipulate his entry into the parliament and catapult into becoming the President in 10 days.

 

I do not know what a crime I have done in my previous life to call him our president?

My resolution never to be born again in Ceylon.

The Americans have a lot to learn from our system, I beg them to make it MORE corrupt, so that only the corrupt ascends in power, like in Ceylon.

In that scenario, Democrats are the most corrupt on this planet.

 

That is why they have sent an investigative team to Ukraine, to do weapon inspection.

 

What a bright idea after 9 months of blasts and pilfering? 

Ukraine is second only to America in corrupt arms deals.

America always comes on top or first in corruption.

60% arms are sold in the black market and the Ukrainians want more and more arms and the war to go on for ever.

Americans love war and no diplomacy is needed.

 

In America Diplomacy is Dead Meat and they want live ammunition to hunt each other, preferably in global scale.

 

But Putin does not believe in live rounds, his general believes in "to rain in" rockets, some experimental in design for better one to come in a later time, on the course of events, in the history of this globe.

I thank God for turning the clock fast.

I of course slept well better than the pandemic.

It was infectious and the entire family enjoyed it.

I need to make a note about the election, especially in regard to CDC Chairmen who is due to retire in December.

I think he is expecting  a "Golden Handshake" from President Biden.

He should be given nothing at all.

I have written a book on that issue and no need to expand here except deplore the political dimension.

Doctors should never play politics with pandemics.

This virus was an artificial virus, until proven otherwise.

The Chinese Paranoia, explaiins the hidden agenda.

I did a search on the history of Corona Virus, in the 19th Century.

It lasted 60 years and nobody knows how many died.

CDC Chairmen did play politics with the Pandemic.

It lead to fall of Mr. Trump and rise of Biden from nowhere.

Biden did nothing to stem the pandemic but only took the political advantage.

It is shame on "so called democratic values".

I do not carry a brief for Mr.Trump.

He was an outsider to Republican politics but as a shrewd  businessman took advantage.

It was just a freak and unfortunately he does not understand it.

This happened in Ceylon, too and the president and his extended family wanted to create their own Kingdom and Palace.

Nobody knows where they are now with the stolen coffers.

That is how functioning democracy works.

Unfortunately, Americans do not have devises we have in Ceylon including rotten eggs.

We will be using them within two years.

The way the current guy who is taking Maldivian consorts in foreign sojourns  will not be the only trigger for spontaneous onslaught in Ceylon.

Not having a drink of "Pol Arrack" is enough to trigger a revolution in Ceylon.

Unlike Russia USA or America is a young democracy.

It has not yet learned enough lessons in modern history. 

Due to its hegemony and the power of the dollar, it has come this far but come Winter of 2023, it's resources will dwindle, simply because of its War in Ukraine.

Both Democrats and Republicans love War Games.

When it comes to war there is always bipartisan support.

I think only President Trump as a businessman saw it's ills.

He was in the minority and bashing him is the only ploy the democrats have in their armary.

But when the economy gets hit very very soon, they haven't got anybody but themselves to blame.

He opened his arm to Russia and even wanted a Trump Tower in Moscow. 

With Russo-Phobia and economic blackmail West thought they can destroy Russia.

Americans have met their nemesis.

He is called President Putin.

He is just waiting for the EU to collapse in Winter of 2023.

Then America does not have customers to sell their jacked up Oil and Gas.

My guess was collapse come due to Corona Virus but I am proven wrong.

It is total economic crisis in the USA and Europe.

By that time China will be ruling the world not Russia.

China is waiting till Russia becomes weak after a prolong war in Ukraine.

Nobody wins at the end of a War.

American support of the war is also a War Crime.

While this s happening "Mad Guys" is the U.N.O are crying about Global Warming (By the way, they did sweet nothing for over 30 years while, consoling Petroleum Companies of America).

My Design of a Computer Circuit Board

Intel NUC has 24 Cores.
16 Cores for consistency and 8 Cores for efficiency.
What a overcook?

Power consumption is 750 Watts and Temperature of 96 Centigrade.

With Cooler setup OFF one can boil water on top of this box.

The cooler box costs more than the motherboard, I guess.

There are lot of untested coolers which have to fit in with smaller form factor.

In other words the metal box that hold it together.

This advice is to Intel, AMD and especially to mainland Chinese Manufacturers.

I come from the Linux background and Resource Management is the CORE to Linux Philosophy.

One does not need to put all the eggs in one basket.

It is absurd.

If I am designing a motherboard, my layout is simple and specific.

I won't put all the Cores in One Place to avoid overheating and fire hazards.
In other words I would not stack them one on top of a another.

They together heat up the system to boiling point and once it reaches this boiling point, one needs a Water Cooler.

My maximum is 4 Cores placed in four corners of the motherboard, so the heat generated is evenly distributed.

I would use 4 smaller cooling units or fans that switches on and off in a  sequential order so that air flow in one direction, sideways and upwards (it cannot flow downward).

I am using my simple physics here not advanced computer technology.

More power does not mean better performance.

The efficiency of an average car is 40% and 60% is wasted as inertia.

I think a computer should be able to better this 40% barrier better.

It is not.

Two Cores are enough for me.

Basic Core is for the functionality of the motherboard where system components are activated in idle mode with throttling up to the need (for example power game) of the individual applications.

The second core is for the user designed overload or hyperfunctionality.

An average computer user can play one game at a time and that functionality should be dedicated to his or her requirements where threads can be used, reused as desired depending on the user.

There is another utility in Linux called swap space where pages can be loaded and off loaded.

I think this requirements is waning off due to modern graphic cards.

But in my case, I use twice the capacity of the RAM by default for SWAP partition.

Ultimately everything is RUN on the RAM.

If the RAM is as low as 4GB, the functionality dips.

DDR 5 is not time tested and won't work on 4 slots at present without change in BIOS.

In anyway it is a waste of money at this point of time.

I won't  waste time on Graphic Cards except saying that, it is the one that heats up and eventually burn out, if it's speed is not finely tuned with the CPU.

Our brain can detect only 36 fps and anything bigger is interpreted as movement.

Our physiology is primitive and very limited and out of millions of colour shades in computer video we can barely distinguish 256 colour shades.

What I do with the two extra CORES.

Simple.

I will use them for Server Function in transferring DATA out to the Internet and Cloud.

They do not work effectively, to help the Graphic Card blow outs.

That is the gamers ultimate desire.

So spending money on fancy stuff may become counter productive.

Best option is to wait till the market settles to new norms.

One need not burn one's computer by wrong configuration.

One should leave the Linux distribution to do it's own homework and choose a Linux distribution dedicated for gaming.

Linus Torvalds should do some pioneering work on this, so that the user can enjoy the gaming experience.

The gamers instead of fiddling with the computer, should give his or her feedback to the game developers (the games they wish to play and where upgrading and refinement are needed).

I am too old to play versatile games but Bridge is my basic game and Water Sort is my recent Discovery.

I want to see an End to the Unipolar World

The Republican's  Come Back in  mid  term election is NOT a solution to the current Unipolar World system dominated by American Hegemony.

A course correction is essential for the rest of the world.

American's war mentality is failing (without checks and balances) and the uncertainty continue to prevail in American politics.

Isolating Russia in the world stage has already backfired.

The EU is failing behind the economic collapse of the Western World.

That does not mean I support President Putin's destruction of Ukraine.

Any possibilty of dialogue would become non existent.

Simply because of the American political intransigence.

It will be one way traffic.

The war mentality would remain in this world.

The poor are becoming very vulnerable and absolutely poor.

Round Up of American Political Failures

This should be rephrased Democrat's Political Failures but amounts to American's Failure, since Democrats are in power.

Not for long in power, since they will be routed in mid term elections, both in  House and Senate.

Number one Democrats have NO Think Tank.

The role of think tank is replaced by ragtag neoconservatives of ill repute.

They have become part of an extension of the MIC or Military Industrial Complex while promising no Wars would be Fought by Americans, outside its borders.

1. Who is pouring weapons to Ukraine?

2. Have the Ukrainians gain a decisive Win?

3. Are the weapons sold outside the conflict zone?

4. Is Poland stockpiling weapons meant for Ukraine, since nothing is coming from EU?

5. Have Americans got a windfall after blasting the Gas Pipeline with the help the of covert UK operators?

6. Is Russia becoming weaker economically?

7. Above all, Do Democrats have credible diplomats to weather the international condemnation?

8. What has happened to British (and BBC) who used to claim themselves as independent observers, who are now involved in covert SORDID operations, in Ukraine at the behest of American Neoconservatives?

9. Is French becoming totally incompetent in geopolitics with Macron's popularity waning day by day?

10. What has happened to Germans who cannot face Russian, Head On but going behind China to beg negotiations with Russia?

Biden or his party cannot answer any of the questions raised above and the Regime Change in Reverse Order would inevitably, happen in America.

That is my prediction.

The trap one lays for others traps the plotters themselves.

This has happened in modern history.

History repeats itself but in reverse order.

Bury Biden is Putin's Goal Democratically

I think President Putin will Lawfully and Democratically Bury Biden along with neoconservative allies.

He is the worst American President and his son's involvement in Barisma Deal is the proof of the pudding.

The average Americans will choose Republican majority in the House and Senate in mid term elections.

That is why I say it is lawful and democratic.

If poor Americans are feeding from the dustbin leftovers, could it it get any worse under Democratic Administration?

Writing is on the wall for them, as it were.

Besides, British covert attacks on pipe line and grain movement in Baltics making the dead (more will die of hunger) and cold  Winter the Worst in, British History, much worse than the Winter of Discontent, in 1979.

That is why they elected Rishi Sunak as a scapegoat of some sort to hide behind their diplomatic failures.

Elections won't solve any of British ills.

The labour might do worse.

I saw it then in UK then and I am glad I am not in Britain (or USA), currently.

By the way, food situation in Ceylon is worse than Sirima and NM time.

Nothing left in the coffers and refusing Russian food aid was a foolish political gimmick by our politicians.

Their days are numbered and we are sitting on a political time bomb.

On the battle ground it not a politician but a battle  hardened Soora Viki who is calling the shots.

He is known to rain in rockets until total submission and that might probably end the war.

EU for its own rhetoric will breakdown eventually.

What a turnaround in geopolitics?

Worse is yet to come and that is the scenario of WW III.

Few drones will not change the outcome.

It only a dress rehearsal.

That is what happens when media are allowed a free (CNN and Fox News) ride on total battle ground disinformation.

By the way, saga of Nancy Pelosy's husband (without facts of evidence) is a CIA ploy to discredit both Nancy and CIA in one go.

Politics work in strange ways in USA under Democrats.

Sit and enjoy watching politics in America.

It is not jealousy of Putin but Paranoia that will poison everything including politics and economics.

Diagnostic Dream Drama

I am gone fully Wireless on my work table.

No clutter but two wireless gadgets I bought a decade ago, do not work, now.

One configured with Microsoft and I use only Linux, the other for wireless keyboard and mouse.

They all have only one year warranty.

For writing one need a clean granite plate (Gal Lalla as kid) or work place.

I keep up all night and sleep during daytime.
That is my routine to thud all mosquitoes who hover around.

The pouring rain I do not need watering my water plants but mosquito menace had resurfaced.

I sleep well but do not dream at all or I do not remember any due to my physiological block of raw stories unhindered.

I overslept and this dream may be  due to that overindulgence.

It goes like this.
There was a grand party with all those who were natural friends to me was in attendance.
What I remember is ad follows.

It was held by a guy who was on as wheel chair due to ischaemic attack.

His wife who was an anaesthetist was the chief organizer.

I see my friend on the wheel chair momentarily stand erect holding on to the frame of the chair and cheering.

He was a good orator and was a good friend of Rajitha the MP.

Then there was a doctor guy and he was alone and I paired with him.

There were two invitees one male and one female both past middle age who were unknown to each other but paired instantaneously and we're in lovelock.

I remember good food and drink of old days at least dreaming of the food itself was energizing with food scarcity of the present.

I am into one meal a day and my sleeping may be due to prolong hypoglycemia.

I put the kettle on, suddenly the light or current went off.

I was annoyed, to say the least and decided to empty the remnant of the last rough meal.

The buckets were empty of water and I filled them up before voiding.

Luckily light came again I had my cup of tea without which I cannot function.

So before I forget I decided to record it here and that will be inserted in as chapter with more additions from the wakeful state of my mind and affairs of topical importance.

The rain in spite of mosquitoes is all welcome, without which we will be starving by January.

AbiWord, SOT Office, OpenOffice and LibreOffice

This piece is long.

I am a writer, Doctor by profession (off from medical registration register for 22 years) and lastly a University Teacher for over 15 years.

Never wanted to become a professor.

University is an institution and it owns the individual and his / her status, when one works for one and long after one's exit from the institute and has copyright ownership of all the writings one may wish write.

In my time, in Ceylon one had to pay over Rs.35,000/= to get a copy of a chapter you wrote for them but was published by its printing press.

University sometimes owns a printing press too.

My university did not and the printing press doing the printing was near our house.

It is no more and gone bust since practically every university is defunct after pandemic closure (delay in having university entrance examinations and also delay in opening the university for those who already qualified).

Many of them have given and few a lucky one found a place in a foreign university.

I joined University as a permanent member well past 55 years and was a hard nut to crack.

University discontinued me on false grounds three times and I fought back only by threatening to take them to courts of law.

University has a lawyer of low caliber and always fear litigation.

I am a freelance writer and I self publish my books at Amazon books.

I am currently doing 5 books at my leisure and in the book of unique personalities I met in my life, I have a chapter on a nice guy who was the assistant registrar (only one registrar and the rest are assistants to the registrar) of the medical faculty.

He was a very nice guy and he was unceremoniously discharged from the university because he did not bend the law to satisfy the then Dean or the Vice Chancellor.

Reason, I do not know and my guess is one of the dons wanted to adjust the pass marks or class marks of one of his student stooges, probably of the opposite sex.

Registrar records the marks on a register and once entered by hand the marks cannot be altered and this is done individually and later checked in the presence of board of examiners.

In the examination board the board collectively decide to allocate additional minimum marks to pass a guy or girl who has failed the subject 4 or 5 times.

I have failed only one guy (foreign) in pathology in all my 15 years in the University.

He was a very nice guy hopeless in pathology but we made him to change the course of studies and found him an alternative university in his mother country.

I have not heard about of him since then.

All these rules, regulations and bylaws come from British and lately we are relaxing them to mass produce medical guys for export.

This guy fought the university for over 16 years or more and he won with meagre compensations.
He was not allowed to step into or legally barred from his ulma mater for life for standing firm on right side of the law.

It an inhumane place and I am glad I am no longer a part to it.

When politicians get involved in academic matters, they ruin everything.

The current president started as a state minister of education.

He dismissed, the principle of the Issipathana School, Mr. Alles who did not bend to his wishes on flimsy grounds.
He fought back and won but  started the first private school, Gateway International.

My daughter worked there and one of my middle school teachers became the director of this school after retirement.

He was a very sweet guy coming from a Catholic School.

Now my superior professor who recruited me was removed from University Grant Commission by the current president unceremoniously.

It was a political assignment made by Chandrika.

My professor had a grand plan for the entire University System and current president ruined it and appointed a political appointee as the Chair of the UGC.

My professor and his wife another professor left to Switzerland and never returned.

Current president's boss JRJ wanted to ruin all of the university education to introduce private universities.

We fought him head on against his attempts to ruin it, to keep the universities as semi-autonomous institutions (with a huge Senate to administer the independence of each, in academic matters of national interest).

In Ceylon teachers are recruited as puppets or prostitutes of the government in power.

Just now I hear the band playing and the teachers are paraded like school kids in the teacher training college by reserved Army Officers.

Training teachers to be Subservient to the Army.

We are a Police State currently will soon become an Army State.

Teaching is low priority and subservience is the name of the game.

This is why I wish NOT to be born again in Ceylon.

I am far off the target and I will start with Abiwotd and OpenOffice.

It all started with my University Thesis which I did on my PC with 1MB VGA and 128 MB on RAM on all floppy disks.

Working on floppy is a pain.

Every few minutes one has to save the file and Microsoft Office 95 with Macros was a pain.

I decided to make a print ready pdf (portable document format) file of my Thesis.

I was a camera man and photography was my hobby (not anymore) and turning my photos to png (portable network graphic was my forte for file transfer, in the old days of the Internet) and sending it to a friend abroad, was my intention.

So portable documents is in my genes and Microsoft could not do it.
Accidentally I found Abiwotd and my first book on Introduction to Linux was done on Abiwotd long after my Thesis.

Our University had strict standard for the Thesis and Office 95 with Macros could not fulfill it.
I went through SOT Office, Open Office 1 and 2 and found that OpenOffice removed Windows Macros in a flash (AbiWord does it much better).

That was the beginning.

I opened my Thesis done on Windows Office 95 in OpenOffice and it warned me (this is to remove incompatibility of DOS and ODF - open document format and currently it is called ODT) and removed all the Macros in one fullsweep.

Then I could make my Thesis exactly to the University Requirements and not a single dot or comma or statistics image needed any editing in the final document.

By the way, I printed tons of pages after every editing session.

Photocoping was cheap then.
The faculty had several photocoping machines.

Now another point of conviction.

I did not want to give my copyrights to the University and gave them the minimum data needed to get my MPhil.

The PhD thesis which I did parallel with the MPhil was published as one of my own books named Human Placental Morphology.

I own it and it is a classic in this field.

I did a book on Microscope, too.

Microscope including digital microscope which I own, is one my childhood fantasy or dreams.

Looking at tiny microbes live or stained was more interesting than looking at them in two dimensional pictures in books.

Of course, I did a few books on Buddhism, too.

Let me finish with my simple Buddhist Outlook.

Buddha a human colossal lived a very simple life.

His forte was mental vigil.

I am trying hard to understand his teachings and being a scientist myself have had no luck so far.

All what I can say is, it is supermundane.

The science and Linux I am talking about are mundane stuff.

The AbiWord with about 28MB of footprint in which I did all my books of print ready pdf formats was an absolutely fantastic discovery by accident.

OpenOffice also had pdf facility.

I am currently doing my first book on LibreOffice 7.3 installed in my Debian 15.2.1. as the default office package.

I sometime do the rough copy in LibreOffice and fine tune last with AbiWord.

AbiWord's page formates are finely tuned in headers, footers and chapters.

I will report back when it is over.

It looks OK but I am in my steep learning curve and do not like it's English spelling (American bias and coming from France no wonder) talents.

I have my Oxford dictionary by my side always.

I will finish with a Chinese YouTube presentation on chip industry.

The guy said one need not overtake the arse in front and chose a different lane to overtake or go for new Innovations.

They are selling the Norwegian Lithographic machines and currently on course of their own printing machines.

Chinese character language has no limitation in vocabulary and most probably need one such machine of their own.

I do not blame them.

At least then the Chinese guys won't kill the Queen's Language.

The King Charles should look after his mother tongue and his own tongue twisting.

I can survive on a single meal simply because English Tea is my Engine of Drive.

Why CNN, Fox News, Sky News and BBC are hiding behind and bidding their own demise under the curtain of Regime Change?

Plot has backfired this time round.

Japan's PM was first to go then followed by Italy, Germany and UK.

Macron's double dealings world can no longer tolerate.

Collapse and End of EU and NATO are on the offing.

BRICS and not UK will emerge from the Ashes of Phoenix.

What a turn around?

In this scenario, next to fall is Poland even before a single missile is directed at its CIA headquarters.

Poor Polish boys on the ground will be soon decimated by winter, if they do not revolt and return to barracks on lock stock and barrel.

In history Poland always backed the losing horse.

History repeats again for Poland.

My entry here is to highlight the reality on the ground or see the ground situation in real daylight, since the Faked News that is doing the rounds can no longer sustain their credibility.

I am totally against war.

Sanity should prevail to save young lives on the battlefield on both sides.

All these OLD Guys holding to power by slogan of Regime Change in Russia should be ousted from power to reap the benefits of the New World Order, while the  silicone valley revolution of smart phones and Steam Deck and Dock are beyond the reach of an average citizen in Ceylon.

We in Ceylon are on hand to mouth existence.

We should play War Games only on a console or wide screen.

That is my solution to the problem of war mongering.

Economic crisis and social disorder will take more than 20 years to recover.

I would be long gone by then.

Australian and New Zealand's subtle racism  and not the shuttle diplomacy is also on the ascendency created in the backdrop of Coronavirus blockdown.

I have no regret of leaving New Zealand 30 years ago.

It does not matter one meal a day in Ceylon (due to our dependency on wheat flour) for healthy adults and Manioc is not for our poor kids.

They need a high protein vegetarian diet.

The Manioc is no substitute but I love Manioc bites much more than the potato bites.

I am becoming a couch potato in politics not by design but by circumstances.

War Films, War Games, Star Wars and Elon Musk

My futuristic prediction long time ago on a theoretical level was that the future wars are fought in space and whoever who dominates space if he or she does not win  the war will decimate the planet earth.
I had no idea of the Russia and Ukraine conflict.
What had happened is

1. Actor becomes a president
2. Star Link provide the ground information
3. Ultrasonic missiles enter the fray
4.;Robots designed in country far remote in technology rain the sky of Ukraine

I am against any type of war.
I love films but not American War Films or Armageddon.

So it time for Elon Musk to step aside from space and become a film producer.
Then he should get Ukrainian president as his chief actor.
Not current war which has no monetary value for theatre goers (the lies are redundant and superfluous to film industry) but Stat Wars III should be the title.

Elon Musk can recover some of the money lost by deactivating (by Russia) of the hundreds of his satellites by entering the film industry.

He will also bolster the flagging image of a actor become impotent president.

Of course he should remain in the bunker provided by France and never think in terms of floating in space like an astronaut.

To become an astronaut one need lot of steel and this guy has no clout with the hammering he gets from President Putin.

Nobody should think of making a film about President Putin because nobody with correct sense attempt it lest he gets bumped off for misrepresenting real facts.

Putin Drama was created and played by America and CIA and it is based on damn lies of historical facts.

What about President Biden.

He is only second to Ukrainian president and has no value as an actor (all his life he was acting like one as the Vice President and given the right mantle  on top he squandered it by diplomatic inaction) by many a miles and he has become a puppet on strings of military industrial complex or MIC.

It's all about Energy and Economics.

Let me dish out a fact, first.

Do not Use Chinese DeepIn Linux.

It destroyed one of the last two IDE HDD I have.

I mounted IDE on an external case and installed DeepIn.

It booted once and did not boot again.

I tried to format the IDE and I couldn't.

It won't mount and it could be a ploy by Chinese to destroy old hardware and computers using a backend tools, unknowingly so that the user has to buy a new one.

It perhaps may be due to DeepIn's faulty GRUB.

Either way I lost one IDE even though I am going to depreciate all IDE hardware including CD/DVD drives.

My first PC of 10GB cannot be mounted Microsoft's Windows 95 destroyed it's boot record.

It looks like Chinese are taking a leaf out American Bill Gate and employing it's counter mechanisms against the American hegemony.

The other IDE of 80GB is mounted on an nice aircraft quality  aluminium external case and it has MultiSytem installed with many Linux distributions installed.

That is an entry point to to the transition of technology.

My gut feeling is Intel will discontinue Ryzen and Radeon in gradual steps.

If you are an Intel fan it is time to buy them now since there is a glut of graphic cards.

This warning is to the game players.

You should design your own game box provided you have space in your living room.

Time to design a VM Box too.

VM is graphic intensive.

This is true for AMD and NV or New Video, too.

I had a 512MB NV card and mounted it on my old PC.

It looks like the integrated graphic card of my ASUS motherboard is better and have better pixel density but I prefer lesser density of NV card since all the pictures and fonts are bigger at boot time and there is no eye strain at boot time.

I can adjust them to my needs if I desire.

I have not studied FPS, IK Resolution and Pixel density in real physiological (not in physics) terms but suffice is to say our brain can register at best 256 colours and 36 FPS at best and any advance in physics and physical dimensions of the gadget is converted to an illusion in the brain.

By the way, all digital games are an illusion of some sort.

I forgot an important point of integration of CPU and Graphic cards and heat generation in use.

Both CPU and new generation of graphic cards generate enormous amount of heat.

Choosing a proper cooling mechanism is of paramount importance and adding a few extra fans is (if the motherboard allows you) prudent.

The second point is the buss speed (may not be the correct term) of CPU should tally with the RAM speed of Graphic cards.

If not compatible these incompatibilities will effect one's gaming experience.

I leave it at that.

The buss speed of my 100 Herz per second and was not compatible with 128 of IBM server and next generation of 133 Herz per second.

I have about 20 sic RAM cards in my attic.

Consider my new NUC had 8GB RAM.

Coming to small form factor I believe Intel, AMD and NV will investigate and invest on cost of production and profit margin on the long run.

They will turn to small form factor invariably.

Mass production of them will be easy and FABs are in real demand.

The war of computer technology of America and China has already begun.

Thaiwan's silicone industry may even initiate the Third World War and it is  not certainly ny Russia.

Considering all these I bought a NUC of Intel.

Thank you Intel.

I have no money to go for AMD.

I have mounted 360GB internal and 360GB external SATA disks with my favourite Linux Distributions (unfortunately one at a time in one SATA).

Without games it is enough, till I kick the bucket.

I am thinking of buying another (one at home one on the move or fly) NUC.

Low noise and mobility are important to me in  old age.

Instead of an old USB, if I can carry my operating system in a 1 terra byte SATA is good enough for me.

I do not need these NVmew SATA disk with huge capacity which even NAS sever will envy.

I forgot another point out politicians do not care about.

We in Ceylon will buy (that include Universities and I thank God I am no longer work for universities and a free software advocate and freelancer) big form factor computers going cheap to replace our aging infrastructure with water cooling systems that cost lot more on running (with Power Cuts to deal with) costs.

They cannot even think of small form factor, low cost and low energy bills.
