Buddhism and its Aversion of Sports

Even though there is no precept prohibiting lay person in engaging in sports, it is strictly prohibited for Buddhist Monks.

The reasons are clear.

Even Chuck Gudu is prohibited for a novice monk.

This is why I am against any religion recruiting young ones under 18 for priesthood.

Once the raw ones get in it is difficult to wean them.

Prohibiting sports and any viewing of arts and plays for monks are exquisitely laid down in Vinaya Pitakaya.

One is addiction.

The two is prediction.

The three is charms for winning a game.

Fourth is betting.

The fifth is watching the game play for entertainment (mental preoccupation).

Already a guy has died of a heart attack after his favorite team lost.

There are going to be few in coming weeks.

I was one of them whose adrenaline surge was way up, for all the World Cups from 1982 World Cup to 1996 Cricket World Cup.

Then it waned little by little and this world cup I woke up a little since it was held in Russia.

There is lot of adverse comments about Vladimir Putin, but for me he is a guy who loves sport unlike guys like Xi Jinping in China who is playing Casino with World (money) economics.

I think Buddhist monks should stop giving charms to our cricketers and wrapping them with Pirith Nula.

Wearing beads also prohibited even though lay persons use beads when meditating (it is actually not meditation but counting practice- I sympathize with them including my late mum)

Even without charms, young ones are doing well for Ceylon with the two spoilers (Chandimal and Angelo) out of the team.

I have many reasons for dislike these two (nothing personal) guys having seen them more than enough.

I thank our cricket administrators (Old Bookie Guys) for killing my interest in Ceylon cricket (not world cricket).

It is interesting how games develop.

A stick, a bar and a hole, ‘Chuck Gudu’.

A pencil and a few drawing on the earth and many varieties (I forget the names)of games.

I do not know who invented the ball.

From that point on man has never looked back, whatever the size, the shape of the ball or the type of the game played with the ball.

Football is a winner of all the ball games, probably due to its simple rules.

There is no universal theory to explain the Universe and its extent.

The visible horizon limits the extent of the possible penetration of light.

Add to that our universe is expanding and bit by bit its outer limit is disappearing beyond our visibility.

Does that means that there is no matter beyond the limit of speed of light (the distance it has traveled so far)?

 

So our understanding is limited by visibility of events.

Anything beyond the visibility zone is unknown and a mystery.

How to solve this problem at least theoretically?

Our universe gives us the expression of Expansion.

What is driving this expansion?

In theoretical sense it is the dark energy.

Then there is the possibility of existence of dark matter.

Our inability to see dark matter within the visible range does not exclude its existence.

The void or space theory has its own limitations, the dark matter and dark energy gives us some scope of expanding our understanding of the totality of the universe.

At least some hope.

If there is (system of) expansion of the universe there ought to be a system of contracting universe, too.

The system of contracting universe should be the result of the absence of dark energy (theoretically that explains the expansion).

The contracting universe should lead to the formation of more and more dark matter as an end result.

The third possibility is that there is a system with neither expansion nor contraction (with or without matter within this system).

Where does this system fit in?

How does it behave?

This system cannot stay pretty stable anyway with two opposing systems of expansion and contraction.

One side the system might get drawn into the expanding universe and on the other side it gets sucked into the contracting universe.

The outcome is, its contraction and bringing the two opposing systems (expanding and contracting universes) closer.

In other words a collision course.

This collision course should bring about formation of more dark matter at the point of collision, in small bursts not catastrophically.

(This is why I do not expect (Big Bang theory) a sudden explosion of our universe which is based on the intelligent design, to fit in with the god theory and its creation).

This might explain the presence of dark matter within some spiral galaxies.

What happens when dark matter meets with the visible matter?

That is the bone of contention.

One possibility is that the Matter gets sucked in due to the enormous gravity within the dark matter with creation of black holes and wormholes.

The matter consists of only 5% and the dark matter and dark energy is 95% of the total.

If the above scenario is correct ultimately there is only dark matter and very little matter at all, left in the universe.

I think it is the other way around.

Dark matter turns into matter is small bursts.

This probably happens in the opposite end of the dark matter not visible to our eyes.

In other words, if matter collides with dark matter in dark holes an almost equal amount of matter or even more matter should be created to set in motion the formation of new galaxies.

If this scenario is possible presence of dark matter in the newly emerging galaxies is not something unexplainable.

Similarly little by little matter is exhausted and disappear (if we apply the principle of “state of flux” as a scientific principle) forming dark matter or a void explained above by neither expanding nor contracting system that may exist within the extreme poles of expanding and contracting universes, thereby limiting the likelihood of catastrophic events of collision.

We are yet to understand the 95% of the Universe.

The above is a theoretical discussion for young ones to explore and expand.

Mind you we are losing bit by bit of our universe to event beyond event horizon.

That is my explanation for existence of multiple universes.

Fact that we cannot see does not exclude their existence.

Stellar black holes — small but deadly

When a star burns through the last of its fuel, it may collapse, or fall into itself.
For smaller stars, up to about three times the sun's mass, the new core will be a neutron star or a white dwarf.
But when a larger star collapses, it continues to compress and creates a stellar black hole.
Black holes formed by the collapse of individual stars are (relatively) small, but incredibly dense. Such an object packs three times or more the mass of the sun into a city-size range. This leads to a crazy amount of gravitational force pulling on objects around it. Black holes consume the dust and gas from the galaxy around them, growing in size.
What is dark matter made of?
Most scientists think that dark matter is composed of non-baryonic matter. The lead candidate, WIMPS (weakly interacting massive particles), have ten to a hundred times the mass of a proton, but their weak interactions with "normal" matter make them difficult to detect.

a theoretical form of energy postulated to act in opposition to gravity and to occupy the entire universe, accounting for most of the energy in it and causing its expansion to accelerate.

Few statements of mine here might blow off the heads of few politicians and monks who reads astrology instead of Dhamma.

Thank our Sun-God, we do not see other stars when it shines.

We see stars only at night and many of us fear to venture into the darkness, let alone see the stars.

We see stars only when we do shopping with a meager budget.

We cannot see any star in its present state.

What we see is the glimmer of light which is older by about four light years.

The light reflected from the surface of the Moon takes only a second to reach Earth. 

 

The Sun is more than 8 light minutes away and 8 minutes older.

And so, if the light from the nearest star (Alpha Centauri) takes more than 4 years to reach us, we're seeing that star 4 years in the past.

The current distance to our cosmic event horizon is about 5 Gpc (16 billion light years), well within our observable range given by the particle horizon.

The observable universe is a spherical region of the Universe comprising all matter that can be observed from Earth at the present time, because electromagnetic radiation from these objects has had time to reach Earth since the beginning of the cosmological expansion.

There are at least 2 trillion galaxies in the observable universe.

Assuming the universe is isotropic, the distance to the edge of the observable universe is roughly the same in each direction. That is, the observable universe is a spherical volume centered on the observer.

Every location in the universe has its own observable universe, which may or may not overlap with the one centered on Earth.

Even so the stars in the galaxies are laid in somewhat of a horizontal plane and they seem to rotate or spin in an axis unique to its own galaxies.

Then again our universe is expanding and we begin to lose sight of it bit by bit (even though we only see the past events).

So how can an astrologer give a prediction on a human being in the present time with a history of fallen or failing star?

We can never see the present state of the universe, how ever much we try.

We always see a past event.

As humans we are only interested in the future of our well being.

Apart from our sun and solar system which gives us the calender (not exact but 364 days and a bit more) and we live only about eighty years of full life span and see 80 years of the past history of the universe, could we ever visualize the present?

We know of our past but our memory is too weak to remember even a fraction of the past, unless we keep a diary.

The dairy has no value if it gives us the past.

With a diary we can plan the future.

In my case, I use to plan only a week at a time and the most a month in advance, when my salary is due on my account.

Now on full retirement I do not need a diary but a cellphone with few telephone numbers worth remembering.

But I cannot ask for a loan from any one of them since every one of them is hooked to a loan of some sort.

Only the bank remembers it and sends you a pdf note instead of a letter.

I demand them a letter of notice and with the postal service on strike, I pity the pensioners who do not have an email or account in the bank and depending on post office for the pension that comes often 14 days late.

Punishing the sick and the old is a crime.

I see very few old people happy and many of them with the sense of unhappiness writing to the English papers asking far an old flame to come into power who has lot in his hands not yet dry.

He believes in astronomy and sooth saying/seeing and Mantra but he lost two years of his time due to a rabid astrologer.

It is sickening feeling.

Making Customized Linux Distributions “On the Go” and “In the Cloud”

The idea I am proposing is not anything original.

It is something done before on a trial basis.

At least for the record Suse has done it by way of Suse Studio.

My idea is to support the concept but not Suse.

My concept is not bound to one Unix/Linux derivative.

It is the point where all the Linux Utilities could handshake (UBUNTU LOGO).

If one is a commercial Linux Enterprise like Redhat or Suse  they cannot enact what I am going to state.

This is the only way we can give our due respect to Richard Stallman and Linus Torvalds.

This is an extension of FOSS philosophy and to save Developers who come from various background to unite in force and specially to save their precious time.

Like O.L.P.S, the commercial enterprises like Oracle who has a head start in database warehousing might try to kill this idea.

As a side effect my blog site may be attacked.

The visitors who were less than 24 per day have gone up suddenly and it looks like some zombie type of attack was engineered by somebody  out there but until now it did not materialize.

There are Cyber-terrorist, I call them, out there.

Concept is simple.

1. Linux Kernel/s are housed in the cloud with on house bug fixing.

2. Live Script is hosted on another cloud with various way to enhance it versatility.

For example language support for particular language.

It should evolve like the Universal GRUB.

3. X-windows are housed as cloud utilities from Fluxbox to LXDE to Unity to Gnome.

4. All repositories need to take the tags out of their distributions (their tagging can be kept in their own clouds) and host them in clouds of package utilities.

A Universal Package Manager (UPM for short) should evolve.

5. Script to reach the above  four (4) on a step wise manner should be designed.

I call it the plugger.

One can call it the Universal Connector (like the electricity plugs of various countries) and it is virtually wired to the utilities through cloud.

6. Once all the required components are assembled an automated procedure should make a customized CD/DVD for testing on a virtual machine in the cloud.

All stages up to this should be virtualized.

7. Any developer community could then use the product to customize more if necessary and put it out with a Linux Brand name of their choice and maintain it for that community and the customer base.
 

By this way it won’t kill the community with over 300 active and 300 inactive distributions.
 
The reason for the inactivity is often due to one developers does the main work and rest follow his or her footsteps and when the chief retires due to domestic reasons there is nobody to step in and succeed.

This is the difference in the Linux customer architecture which become dormant.

Whereas a failing commercial venture like HP, there is somebody to step in till complete bankruptcy is claimed.

Linux do not go bankrupt it goes into hibernation like some animals.

My idea is to wake up these beautiful animals from sleep.

The cloud can be the place for them to hibernate till some metamorphosis of this animal can occur in its sleep mode unlike in real animal world.

This metamorphosis is good for Linux.

There a lot of steps missing in my concept but I firmly believe that it can be done and accomplished if the right steps are taken before commercial clouds invade us an blacken the sky like a rain cloud.

As a beneficiary I would be able to make my customized Linux in the cloud once a year.

My planning are yearly basis to the grave and not for a century.

But the above concept should outlast me by at least a century with cloud computing on the horizon.

I bet USA/Russia/China cannot do this alone.

U.N.O cannot do it. It even won’t try.

But Linux can do it since Linux Guys/Girls do not have racial or national boundaries.

We are all together.

All will be benefited.

Any commercial company can hijack this concept of mine provided they acknowledge that it is coming from a small country called Ceylon (not Sri-Lanka) which is trying to recover from 30 odd years of war which  the Commonwealth (it is not common anymore than it used to be) is hell-bent to destroy.

They company also should not send the product Free to Ceylon or on IMF Loan to us as long as I am alive and well.

They may try to kill my idea after investing the money but not me.

Even if they kill my idea, lot of nice guys/girls are out their with brains and community spirit.

It will be reborn again in some far corner of this planet/globe.

With cloud computing we are going to be truly global.

Somebody should revive this, now that Steve Job is no more.

The Darwin kernel is equivalent to the Mac OS X kernel plus the BSD libraries and commands essential to the BSD Commands environment.

I refer to the category C1 in here since this is the holiday time and all the developers with FOSS mentality are holidaying and enjoying the Christmas, the shady guys become active by default during holidays.

I won’t go into detail of how to manage your security which has to be the responsibility of the individual.

If one leave the back door open, thieves will walk in.

You have two back doors unlike in a house.

1.The biggest of it is YOUR EMAIL with a loose password.

2. Unsuspecting back door is your browser with cookies to spy on your likes and dislikes

3. The deadliest is the combination of the two thieves.

YOU sign in and forget to sign off.

The second thief, the browser keeps a memory of your log in and often the encrypted password.

The best security I advise is not to have an email and not to browse the WEB but take a nice story book of your liking or get  your Amazon’s Kindle or Noble eBook and read during the holidays.

If you cannot resist both of the above vices, I have a few tricks up my sleeve for you, with the hacker’s mentality in me ignited.

Have two browser or may be three with Amazons silk included.

Go for a light weight browser, Midori,  Ice Weasel type your simple activity.

Then have any Gorilla Type of browser with your liking.

Then you have to do your own hacking.

Go to the properties and take all the cookies out or decommission them for good. 

I have tried all the other methods but this the best remedy, I have found for the holidays.

I of course do a full format by the end of December of in January.

With so many Linux distribution is store already downloaded, I have to toss a coin and select the first five.

If you are PARANOID (It is a disease many of us, especially westerners have when they come here on holidays and do not recognize as it is and become non-human) what one has do is to download a live Linux CD with TOR (to RAM) in it and use it at lib.

There are many including Pollipix.

If you are in a country with a dictator running the day to day affairs these are an added security.

Do not PLEASE use the D.O.Ds L.P.S (Light Portable Linux) even by accident an it is only for Russian Secret Service KGB developed by American CIA .

This distribution is worse than your email and the Gorilla browser and it sends all your transactions to a web-eavesdropper without your knowledge. 

HOME FOLDER

This is where all your junk is. 

What you do with your junk is your own pejorative.

Best defense mechanism is to not to have a home or home folder but become a vagrant or a vagabond.

Homing In

Switch off the computer.

Go to the up market.

By some wine, beer, cookies, chocolates, music CD (NO VIDEO PLEASE) and anything else you may think that Santa Claus won’t bring for YOU and 

Home In and enjoy with your dear ones.

Unfortunately the holiday won’t last long, so make best use of it now.

For me because of our industrial action, this is the shortest holiday we have had for a long time, I can 

remember.

I made another mistake beginning of this year.

That is to blog a piece a day which I kept till now except one day.

I am glad I missed one in the very beginning so that I got out of the regimented or the religious enthusiasm.

Both are bad for your health and the sense of humour.

I am hoping to dream a lot and I will be back with some dreams (only if I dream some good ones).

I am waiting to buy a Tablet but this is the only godforsaken (Sri-Lanka–Ceylon) country where they try open private universities but have not allowed (unofficial ban) Amazon wireless service for me to read a Kindle (not even my books in Kindle) Fire this Christmas when I am bored with our Media (both private and government).

Reason for this unofficial ban of Amazon probably is due to the Eduction Department won’t be able to donate the books (20 years outdated-some of them especially IT and Science) they publish with religious vigour to unsuspecting students.
