Sinister Program to Destroy Buddhism / Dhamma

Yes, there is a Sinister Political Program to Destroy Buddhism.

It was spearheaded by the Catholic Church in the past.

This all started somewhere around 1962.

It was named Catholic Action, then.

There was a hidden rule that determined that nobody gets a job unless he or she was a Catholic.

This theme has come back to haunt us (Ceylon) again.

It was L.H. Mettananda who brought forward the case for Buddhism in Ceylon.
He was Principle of Nalanda College, Dharmaraja College and Ananda College.
All these schools including Mahinda College in Galle were established by Sir Colonel Alcott, during the turn of the 20th century.

Ana Blastikova a Russian aristocratic lady also came into foray promoting Theosophy at about the same time.

I have not listened to L.H. Mettananda but as a young guy under 5 years I knew that somebody was making a huge impact on Ceylonese Buddhist Community.

I used to stay overnight at A.C.B.C. building in Fort and I used to have a good Rice Meal whenever, I come to Colombo.

Of course, I moved to more elegant Green Cabin (not The Indian Green Cafe), and stay over weekend and beyond (in Collpetty) for a hopper meal.

DhunTel Bath or Oiled Rice (not Chinese fried rice which I HATE now), on banana leaves was top class delicacy with ice cream to top up (I will make a piece on ice cream later).

Nothing to beat Masala and Dhal Wade at Green Cafe at Dehiwala.

He was London Educated Educationalist.

He was a member of the Buddhist Committee of Inquiry of the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress.

Yes, I did formal education in a school where they still train Catholic Priests.
I think me moving to a Buddhist school had a direct relationship to Buddhist Renascence.

This place is out of bounds to an average Ceylonese Citizen.

I think CIA have moles there

I have had first hand experience, no need to eloborate.

I do not agree with Chapa Bandara in many respects but he seems to have a better understanding of this project coming from a Christian dominated background, in Wennappuwa

I did work in Negambo but I never felt that the Christians there had a hidden program

In fact, I made a lot of friends there as a doctor.

The first part of this piece is about my entry into real Dhamma.

The sinister part I would list at the end.

Be patient.

This is not written for the sake of vituperation.

I'll dish out only the snippets here but the theme, I highlight here has enough facts.

The facts are enough for a book for someone who wants to venture deeper.

BPS
I will start with Buddhist Publications Society and Bhikku Bodhi

He has a PhD in physics.

He was the editor there and he left Ceylon to take up a post in America.

His last piece was "Buddhism at Cross Roads".

It is a small piece but it was identifying the impending danger to Dhamma.
It is well worth reading.

My mother wanted me to become a Buddhist Monk.

Good that I did not.

One of my maternal uncles was an erudite Pali Monk

He interviewed me and agreed that I should become a doctor

I promised him, I would study Buddhism when I am mature, enough

I did help him to build a Temple in Colombo when I was working as a doctor in Colombo General Hospital.

Of course,  Senior Premadasa and his Private Secretary Mr. Gamage were of immense help.

His only (my uncle monk) weakness was his English.

He was the one who headed the Ceylonese Team in Burma (Myanmar) Buddhist Council (Symposium), in 1956.

BPS
BPS was established by two German Monks.

I was NOT fortunate enough to meet any of them in real life but the posthumous collection of books on Dhamma canonized there at BPS is a treasure trove.

A living monument to their dedication to Dhamma.

Buddhism is about deep knowledge and is not about beliefs.

They were imprisoned in Ghova and that is where they started translating Pali to English.

Most Reverend Gnanathiloka is the elder monk who stayed in the forest reserve (I never visited it) of Uda Watta Kelle.

The location where BPS is currently situated was the dispensary where            Dr. Dharmasena practiced.

He was my Family Doctor

Do not misidentify him with the terrible Professor Dharmasena.

He donated his dispensary,  to the BPS for it's Library where "Satara Sathipattana" famous Most Reverend Gnanapoinika Thera built an enormous collection of Buddhist Sutra Pitakayas.

His plan was to translate them to English.

Bhikku Bodhi of course was one I associated with but not very closely but he was crystal clear in his writing.

One can Google and order any book from BPS in Kandy.

He was a man of few words.
A real physicist.

If I have question, I pose him the question.

He selects me a book and say come back after reading this.

Which I did until I left Ceylon.

One of my dear friends who is a retired Bank Officer, does the book keeping of this institute. If I do not have a book I need, I request him to find one. He would do a research and find one for me, from any location in Ceylon, if it is available in Ceylon.
He is a dedicated guy.
If not found he would order a few copies to be printed.
Printing costs a lot and stocking books not read or moving is not commercially viable in the digital age. As a banker he knows this well.

What one can do is to donate some money to print the tiles not available currently.

These early publications were called "Bodhi Leaves".

My father had a lovely collection of Buddhist Texts which I could not save (I was in UK when he died), including Astrology (which I hated).

They were vandalized (stolen) within 10 days of his demise.

I of course build a New Collection with new Editions.

I settled down to Dhammpada Satara Sathipattana and of course the Vissuddhimagga.

Later of course I added Brahmajala Sutta and Kalama Sutta.

Karaneeya Metta Sutta was my base..

I have translated it into English Verse and posted here for perusal.

No one would guess it is really coming from this Sutta

I have made the English translation very simple.

That helped me in my Simple English.

But I loved books of most Reverend Narada Thera

He was the one who formerly introduced me to Buddhism before I left to UK

Buddhism with a Smile is a classic for Children.

He was one of my regular patients in Colombo General Hospital.

One must say, I was fortunate enough to meet him in real life.

Then, Rev. Madhihe Pangnaseeha and Piyadassi Thera were veterans in Dhamma Deshana.

Reverend Rerukane Chandhawimsla had some simple Sinhala books on Buddhism. They ought to be translated to English.
I did not know him at all.
I saw his dead body in Navaloka Hospital along with J.R.J.
I signed J.R.Js final blood report but for some unknown reason I did not see a single blood report on this Thera. He may have given special instructions not to do any unnecessary tests or prolong his life.

But I entered into Dhamma after the death of my mother.

I thought, I would make a book on Dhamma on her behalf, on her 3 months Dhana Ceremony.

That ended up in many books at Amazon Book Store not only Buddhism but in Linux, too.

Snippets of Betrayal of Buddhism

USA and India Combo, The CIA and The RAW are directly involved in this sinister project.

The current government is the culmination of this Long Term Project.

They tried the CIA method (infiltrate the Sasana) and failed and now using the

"Niragamika Theme" (No religion) of the current PM / President Combo.

"Jayamangaka Gatha" was banned in the parliament BUT the full the Full Christmas Thamasha was dished out.

Jayamangaka Gatha is for the blessing of the Entire World not only Ceylon.

War of Ukraine is an antithesis to Dhamma.

Karaneeya Metta Sutta is the first Sutta one should recite.

If you are Buddhist and over 50 years, You should become a Vegetarian Buddhist which I call the Eggotarians (unfertilized egg) clan of Buddhists.

If you do that one can say that one is a True Buddhist.

Monks should go for "Vegetarian Dhana".

That is only the beginning to stop this subtle betrayal

There is one Heart Specialist in Colombo who had a full "Vegetarian Wedding" for his daughter.

I forget his name.

He came after Walupillai.

1. In Kandy opposite the BPS they made a Missionary Hospital to promote Christianity

This was near a Buddhist Girl's School.

I was taken there as a kid. As a kid I could feel that the doctors there were poorly trained.

On my retirement, one of my Catholic friends wanted me to raise it's standards but I gave up after one week.

There main aim is to promote Christianity through Medical Practice.

They have NO belief in medicine they dispense.

2. Number two is to enter Sasana and introduce moles.

Kiribathgoda Baththara Mulla is number 1.

Number two is the homosexual Mahamewna saffron Guy

Antidote is Do Not donate money to these guys.

Let the Catholic Church to fund them.

3. Translate Pali Verses into Sinhala and distort the contents and the meaning.

Antidote read Dhammapda.

The Dhammpada is out of production.

Donate some money to BPS to print new copies.

I bought all of them and posted them to my friends left in Ceylon.

Just grasp one or two verses that suits one's heart's content.

4. Dalada Wadena Nilame is the most corrupt Guy.

There was a branch of BPS at the rear side of the Maligawa, before he became the big guy.

First thing he did was to close this print outlet of BPS.

I made a vow not to visit Maligawa until he is eliminated from this post.

5. Meditation has become a business.

There is a book by me coming soon.

Dr. Steven Greer is in this game.

6. I am ambivalent of Weask Celebrations.

As a kid I can remember one of my less bright uncles made a Wesak Lantern with Baby Lanterns. We could not take it out intact from the main door. We had to separate them and hang them in different locations.

For me, it was an experiment in physics.

Do not be a megalomaniac.

A few buckets and a few coconut oil lamps would do during Wesak.

"Olu Bukko Wigadama" should be stopped.

The buckets will burn showing the "Uncertainty Principle" of Buddhism.

Oils would burn out but the light of Dhamma shines

7. Wearing a Cross is Christian but do not wear any symbol of Dhamma.

Dhamm is for your Brain.

Digest the meaning.

There are many other distortion and vagaries.

Be mindful of every action

I hope you become a down to earth Dhamma Guy.

Be very simple and transparent.

Non interventional to begin with.

Politics of CIA and RAW are always interventional.

They got a good ally.

That is NPP/JVP Combo.

BEWARE.

Understanding Linux’s Origins

Understanding Linux’s Origins

In 1991, as is also true today, computers were classified by their sizes and capabilities. Computers could belong to any of a handful of categories, ranging from desktop personal computers (PCs) to supercomputers.  x-86-based computers, which are the direct ancestors of today’s PCs, dominated the PC marketplace of 1991; however, other types of PCs were available, including Macs. Such computers generally used different C.P.Us and ran their own custom OSs.

In 1991, most PCs ran Microsoft’s Disk Operating System (MS-DOS, PC-DOS, or DOS).

DOS was extremely limited by today’s standards; this single-tasking OS  (capable of running only one application at a time) didn’t even take full advantage of the memory of the C.P.Us available at the time.

The versions of Microsoft Windows available in 1991 ran on top of DOS. Although the initial versions of Windows helped to work around some of DOS’s limitations, they didn’t fundamentally fix any of them

These early versions of Windows employed cooperative multitasking, for instance, in which programs could voluntarily give up CPU up time to other processes. The DOS kernel could not wrest control from a program that hogged CPU time.

Above the PC level, Unix was a common OS in 1991.

Compared to DOS and the version of Windows of that time, Unix was a sophisticated OS

Unix supported multiple accounts and provided true preemptive multitasking, in which the kernel could schedule CPU time for programs, even if the programs didn’t voluntarily give up control. These features were practical necessities for many servers and for multi-user computers such as minicomputers and mainframes.

As time progressed, the capabilities of each class of computer have grown.

By most measures, today’s PCs have the power of the minicomputers or even the mainframes of 1991.

The OSs used on the PCs of 1991 didn’t scale well to more powerful hardware. Just having more computing power itself, however, didn’t remove the limitations of DOS.

For this reason, DOS and its small-computer contemporaries have been largely abandoned in favour of Unix and other alternatives.

In 1991, Linus Torvalds was a student at the University of Helsinki, studying computer science. He was interested in learning about both Unix and the capabilities of the new  x-86 computer he’d just purchased. Torvalds began the program that would become the Linux kernel as a low-level terminal emulator—a program to connect to his university’s larger computers. As his program grew, he began adding features that turned his terminal program into  something that could be better described as an OS kernel.

Eventually, he began what computers today can be classified in much the same way as in1991, although some details have changed.

A notable addition are embedded computers, as in smartphones.

Unix was not the only multi-user, multitasking OS in 1991.

Others, such as Virtual Memory System (VMS), were available.

Unix is most relevant to Linux’s history, though.

Today’s versions of Windows are not derived from DOS

Instead, they use a new kernel that shares many design features with VMS.

Unix’s history, in turn, stretched back two more decades, to its origin at AT&T in 1969. Because AT&T was a telephone monopoly in the United States at that time, it was legally forbidden from selling software.

Therefore, when its employees created Unix, AT&T basically gave the OS away

Universities were particularly enthusiastic about adopting Unix, and some began modifying it, because AT&T  made the source code available

Thus Unix had a two-decade history of open software development to start

Most Unix programs were distributed as source code, because Unix ran on a wide variety of hardware platforms—binary programs made for one machine would seldom run on a different machine.

Early on, Linux began to tap into this reservoir of available software.

Linux developers were particularly keen on the GNU project’s software, so Linux quickly accumulated a collection of GNU utilities.

Much of this software had been written with workstations and more-powerful computers in mind, but because computer hardware kept improving, it ran fine on the  x-86 PCs of the early 1990s.

Linux quickly acquired a devoted following of developers who saw its potential to bring workstation-class software to the PC. These people worked to improve the Linux kernel, to make the necessary changes in existing Unix programs so that they would work on Linux, and to write Linux Specific support programs.

By the mid-1990s, several Linux distributions existed, including some that survive today.

Slackware was released in 1993 and Red Hat in 1995, for example.

Vulgar Talks for Monks

Vulgar Talks for Monks

So I delve into Dhamma in that sense to Samutta Nikaya (56:10) to repeat a verse told to monks would suffice to convince myself why I should not be a journalist.

This can be rephrased why a Buddhist monk should be a conveyor of Dhamma message sans journalistic endeavour.

Buddha states 28 of his qualifications of vulgar talk to monks.

Numerically in order as was said by the Lord Buddha are as follows.
Manifold vulgar talks are

1. Talk about Kings (Presidents, Prime Ministers and Tyrants)
2. Talk about Robbers (Robber barons, the multinational businessmen)
3. Talk about Ministers
4. Talk about armies
5. Talk about dangers
6. Talk about wars
7. Talk about food
8. Talk about drink
9. Talk about cloths
10. Talk about dwellings
11. Talk about garlands
12. Talk about perfumes
13. Talk about relations
14. Talk about conveyances (transfer of property)
15. Talk about villages
16. Talk about hamlets
17. Talk about towns
18. Talk about countries
19. Talk about women
20. Talk about heroes
21. Talk about street talk
22. Talk about ghosts
23. Talk about ancestors
24. Talk about gossip
25. Talk about land
26. Talk about sea
27. Talk about gain (credit market)
28. Talk about loss (stock exchange)

To this another four are added in another verse
1. Eternity (unending)
2. Annihilation (reduced to nothing)
3. Sensual gratification
4. Self mortification

What a Buddhist monk as a journalist should talk about are about greedlessness, hatelessness and undeludedness (wisdom) and any other talk is senseless and does not lead to liberation or salvation.

Vulgar Deeds of Monks

Vulgar Deeds of Monks

One should read this in tandem with “Vulgar Talks for Monks”.

I never thought that I might have to use this phrase to describe some of the deeds of Monks with political power.

This has nothing to do with Vinaya (Set of rules passed down by oral tradition) which outlines 300 odd major and 1000 odd minor strictures.

I will list a few below.

1. Possession of more than two robes.

2. Possession of money more than what is required of travel (this was a concession when public transport came into existence).

They are meant to be walking spreading Dhamma and no two monks should take the same path having come to a four way intersection.

3. Possession of vehicle for transport.

4. Possession of land.

5. Possession of books other than Thripitaka, which is colossal.

6. Possession of Televisions.

7. Possession of Elephants.

The sole purpose of this is to highlight the number 7.

I think very soon our monks will ascend to Nibbana on the back of a poor elephant.

I am sure once they ascend there the poor animal is dispensed for good to rot probably in hell.

I am not sure how the modern articles like mobiles, laptops, digital texts and multimedia applications would apply in the context of Vinaya.

A modern Sangayana is necessary to validate them in posterity as essential items On the road to Nibbana’.

I am also not sure of Television Displays in the trend of TV stars.

I sometime incline to think when the Thripitaka is fully digitalized and translated to many languages as possible (this is not happening now) the existence of Monks may become redundant except for the SOLE practice of meditation for ultimate goal SEEKING of TRUE salvation or Nibbana.

The way the things are developing there may be monasteries dishing out Nibbana certificates at four levels, Sovan, Sukrudhagami, Anagami, and Arhath.

I hope, I should kick the bucket before that eventuality of having to register for salvation and it is open for all, in the World Wide Web.

I am ambivalent about the right of the monks to become politicians and a member of the parliament.

As a true democrat, I say YES for an individual’s right to exercise political right, if not the Wisdom or the better judgment.

Having said that I am uneasy if they continue to done the robe after being duly elected.

The point is conflict of interest, priesthood or the legislative functions (law of the land).

Suppose the legislature agrees for capital punishment would they vote YES or NO.

I feel very uneasy to see any person (whatever the religion that does not matter) in official capacity especially in the parliament (sometimes in civil capacity, too) display their identity in dress code, hair style, facial hair decoration or by any other mean.

It is a hindrance in the name of fair judgment and a Universal dress code for the assembly is mandatory.

I hope this fact is taken into consideration when drafting the new constitution.

I have no problem with any form of national dress (in the form of kilt in Scotland) however ugly and cumbersome for it to be worn.

I prefer the loin cloth for those without any educational qualifications and the dress should indicate their educational level but not their professional status (Army, Navy, Air Force, Doctor, Lawyer, Accountant, professor or University cloak).

The NEW dress, with neutral colour (not the party colour) should be very simple and no civilian should be permitted to wear this dress for any civilian function.

It should be smart and should not look like a school UNIFORM or Police, Army or Navy.

The idea is, the moment they wear this dress they are in a different mould and feel proud (whether in power or in opposition).

This stricture like VINAYA for monks is only inside the assembly to discipline the present unruly Guys / Girls trained by MA Ra and the CLAN in our legislature.

In other words if a monk wears a particular robe they are expected to behave as such upholding the VINAYA and not like The BBS THUGS.

Under Ma Ra their status was steam rolled like RATS and this new TREND would harbinger good behaviour in parliament and uplift their status in the legislature as TRUE DEMOCRATS (listen to the alternative views).

Equally, the politician should not wear this dress for civilian functions other than the official duties in the assembly.

They are free to wear any other dress including PARTY dress and colour in public so that they can freely mix with their electorate or supporters.

If the speaker wears a particular dress why not MPs?

I never EXPECT this proposal could see the day light.

It is only a wishful thinking.

Ranil Wickramasinghe is out to Destroy Free Education and Buddhism

Destroy Free Education and Buddhism
Ranil Wickramasinghe
I must remind that the current Prime Minister is an extension of Ranil's Project.

But her major project is to REMOVE the Special Provision for Buddhism from the Constitution.

She is the biggest danger but she must be having many other hidden projects.

They have 2/3rd majority

That is why I say our citizen's are absolutely STUPID and MAD.

Beware.

Ranil is anti- youth anti-university guy from Batalanda Wadakagaraya
.

He was used by JRJ as an agent.

In other words he is a C.I.A Agent.

He was sent home for good and he should never be allowed to come back to power, by indirect means.

I have no problem with him flashing  his U.N.P mantle without a politically clout.

He destroyed Professor Ranjith Mendis's University Career
That is my single grouse with him.
He was then, the U.G.C. chairman, unceremoniously removed.
I remained in the University to scuttle all his subsequent attempts.

He has left a big TRAP for current president AKD.

His shuttling up and down the Palk Straight is ominous.

He is a snake under the carpet.

Out of power he is more venomous.

He has no SHAME, too.

BEWARE!

NPP is Trapped in 3 Certain Deaths

Yes, NPP is Trapped in 3 Certain Deaths.

This is a Dhammpada Verse retold.

A man supposed to have tasted Pani or Honey while braving 3 deaths.

1. Honey is Power.
He (AKD) should enjoy it now before it is too, late.

2. Elephants chasing NPP is
Ranil and his IMF Trap

3. Serpents are the unkempt promises

4. Deep Pit is the 2/3rd majority and the unpredictable masses

This why I used to say before the election that anybody who wants to take up power at this juncture is absolutely MAD.

I left Ceylon 2 and a half years ago but could have been earlier, if not for the coronavirus pandemic.

My prediction for economic (realistic) recovery from the Coronavirus Pandemic would take 20 years.

Already food prices are up by 40% to 50% globally and 300% in Ceylon.

5. S.J.B's Dr. Harsha De Silva should thank his Guardian Angles for the welcome respite.

Survival in Late 1960s and Early 1970s

Survival in Late 1960s and Early 1970s
It is strange, I survived the Late 1960s and Early 1970.
It was the worst period in our life.
I never thought I would end up in the University and later in the United Kingdom.

There were three others who entered University before me and two were for arts and one for engineering from my village.

The engineering guy was almost a mentor and was the national boxing champion.

I was treated not like a child but like an adult.

I had to do all the odd jobs.

But only one job I volunteered.
That is to fetch water from the well and fill up the barrel.
There was a locked well belonging to one of our relatives.
I get the keys for the padlock and I get a fare share of water for myself.
Only one or two others were allowed to share the water.
Pipe born water was non existent.
Of course the buckets have to be kept well away, on granite slab.
I was well instructed to keep the place clean.

Cholera was endemic, then.

Boiled cool water to drink was the standard. I think I carried a plastic water bottle with a shoulder strap to school.
Only a few had a  plastic water bottle.
Kadala Archchi at the school door step, provided us a delicious Aggala at tea time.
My mother used to make milk and dhosi toffees.

Cheese sandwich was the standard and Bowryll jam and butter were plenty.

Only one small bucket for pulling water up and one large for fetching water home.

Jack and. Jill went up the hill type of story.

I clean myself first and collect water and carry home to fill the barrel.
8 to 10 buckets a day depending on the previous day's use.

I did not want to see my sisters' carrying water on the main road. That I considered inhumane.

Rest of the work included going to the cooperative store to collect provisions, that included rice, dhal,  sprats and Karala.
Rs.10/= was enough for a weeks provisions.

Rice was 25 cents a measure and one was Free from our Dudley Senanayake.

My charge was Rs.1.50 for the facial cream.
It's name was Pond's Cold Cream.

I hated alighting the crowded (returning home) bus.
Walked carrying the heavy load, often laying the load on a bullock cart.
Going to the breakary for bread (fresh half a pound for myself) was the normal routine.

Milk was the only item home delivered very early in the morning.
Mendis buns 5 cents a piece were delivered on head, in the evening.
They were delicious butter buns.

I still still wonder how I managed in my school work.

Most of the other children did not work as hard as me.

Teachers in the Catholic school were very pleasant except only one.
I left this school, since Science Stream was non existent.
City college was the worst and only things I learned there were vulgar slangs.
I did not learn a single Dhammpada verse there.

Instead of taking the bus home I used to walk back and save the money to buy half a hundu of Chick Peas.

We did not have a place to play.

Tar road was the only vacant place.
The bus driver used to wait till we finish an over of soft ball cricket.

The entire village was well knit except a few bad eggs.
Pathirana Family in the third mile post was the terror gang.
That was called the Pathagama with the caste based vernacular.

We were in Udagama or the  second mile post.

I witnessed a blue murder and two other stabbings on my way back at around 6PM. We were not allowed after 6PM.

Mr. Farmer who was the British High Commission driver was man without words.
His keep or may be wife was the devilled tongue of the village, always out to ponce on someone.

The the gang of dogs behaved better.
Because of this woman, I was not allowed to keep a dog.
Her next door neighbor was Mr. Ferdinado who was keeping an underage girl as a keep.
He was very good making hot air balloons.
There was an annual ceremony. This exited my interest in physics.
Wesak were known for celebrations but pandols were rare except for Wedding. There were several wedding and I was never taken to any, that itself is a simple story.
In my first visit to a wedding, I ate the entire Arsmi (had not tasted it before) and the punishment was never to take me again.
I hated wedding ceremonies.
They are not for kids but for adults.
I have seen a fair share of divorces and domestic violences in my time.

Nobody touched or nicked me even for a joke. I have had manhandled all who crossed my path including my elder brother.
They feared me.

There was this guy who was an orphan.
He had taken a bet to manhandle. I was under 7.
He tried and failed.
I pulled his sarong down and with his one hand he could not handle me. I pulled him across the road with all my might.
Pulled him down on the drain and killed his balls. He did not last a day in my village and he disappeared.

A similar incident in the city school and the subsequent chain of events ended up in Kandy Police but no convictions but warnings.

Nobody touched me in the University and that is a different but a criminal story.

Homosexuallity was not as prevalent as today but a sideroom next to the boutique was kept for prostitutes and homosexuals. Only a few was allowed but a Muslim guy who was a homosexual (may be rented) owned it.

Coming back to first hand witness stories, I knew the victims and the assailants but kept mum on my father's instigation.

Chief Justice Mr. Thalgodapitiya had his house between second mile post and third mile post.

Just as good!

I saw my uncle toppling and crashing his car right in front of the Chief Justice's house.
He probably pressed the faulty break in front of this house.

Politics were caustic with two opposing parties.

I hated both political parties.

JVP was non existent.

Ceylon was no better, then.

We left this neighborhood (when I entered the University), never to return when I was just 19.

Passed 'O' Level at 16 and I was allowed to start 'A' Level pending results. Not two years but 3 solid years in 'A' Level at London 'A' standard.

The saying was London 'A' was easier.

Teachers were as bad as today but I worked on my own with the School Inspector helping me all along (that itself is a separate story).
No Tuition Masters, then.

I did not have any regard to Monks as Teachers in our school.
We chased one called Neluwe Nagitha within a month.
We decided to give him a thundering knock on his head during the Morning  Assembly. One guy from our class was chosen everyday for the delivery.
What I did to a collection of monks who came to a Pirith Ceremony in our house was classic but I refrain from expending. The Maha Nayaka told my mum they would never come again.
This is in addition to an encounter with a guy called Silaratana with No Sila.
He was very scared of me. This is all under 16 years.

If I see a saffron guy escorting a young guy he is dished out similarly with some direct verbal abuse, till lately.

Coronavirus virus pandemic ended those encounters.

Mahamewna guy and Kiribathgoda Batthara Mulla are only two of public manifestations good in distorting Dhamma.

Me writing books on Dhamma should be not considered an aberration. They are well researched pieces.

I survived.

My stamina stood good.

Quantum Flow Logic

 Quantum Flow Logic

Quantum Flow Logic should open up new dimensions in a seamless way, without the hindrance of numbers and values of a physical system.

Quanta should exist and at the same time should not exist in a linear time dimension.

One quantum should vanish when another is discovered, making it an illusive endeavor.

I wake up at 5AM Sharp

Yes it is true.
I wake up sharp at 5AM in Australia.
I sleep 8 hours non stop.
1 hour day time nap.
Rest of the time do some computer work.
I have stopped reading books.

If I find a copy of Dar Capital I would read it from cover to cover.

What has happened is with Christmas coming, I keep till midnight and beyond.

Still I wake up with birds singing at 5AM.

Yes it is my biological clock that keeps ticking.

Since, I have nothing else to do I would pen few thoughts about Kumar David.

I am doing a small book on mosquitoes and I posted a piece from our own Kumar David on Covid-19.

In it, he makes some reference to Malaria Epidemic in 1935 where millions died.

He was posing the question what if Coronavirus did similar decimation.

In my view it did.

Our figures were manufactured.

Kumar was a Marxist who ended up in Los Angeles.
It is time to remember him.
He died on the 14th of October, 2024 at the age of 83.

Vasudewa Wickramaratne also passed Away recently.
Both were contemporary Engineers.

I am not a Marxist but I was a voracious reader who has become a compulsive writer.

It all started with posting blog pieces.

Thank You Google.

I started with Kit Kat, Gelly Beans and Mash Mellow.

I am going to stop at Android 13.

Cocoa Tree, The Wisdom Tree

Cocoa Tree, The Wisdom Tree

Happy Christmas to begin with.

Mind you, chocolates are very expensive and I won't buy chocolates, as a gift, this Christmas.

Cocoa Tree is as important as Coconut tree for Ceylonese.

It has many features and current government should diversify agriculture with special interest on supplementary products.

Cocoa should come under their scrutiny.

We had a lovely, Cocoa Plantation in Palle Kelle, in Kandy. J.R.J. destroyed and developed a Cricket Stadium, there.

I was considering buying a plot there, damn cheap to build a house with a piece of land for home gardening.
I decided against since the calcium deposits were high and Kidney stones in residents were high in this region.
I worked with IMMI and had all the relevant information.

I worked there only 9 months and the second DJP/ JVP insurrection ended my protocol.

I studied this tree from my childhood
I'll come to that later.

One of my relatives little over 3 years older was a good of friend mine, for a long time.
He had high respect for me since I was good in my studies.

He was the youngest and he was used as a regular servant of the house. I had one of my classmates who was treated similarly by his stepfather. He died a nervous wreck and I could not help him.
I did not know the whole story.

That included climbing coconut trees, ploughing paddy fields, bringing water from the well for drinking, looking after cows, milking and all the odd jobs.

Last of all, he ran a simple village boutique and he was always broke since the customers did not pay back at the end of the month.

While he was doing this his elder sister and elder brothers were enjoying life including going to school.
All of them obtained government and or Cooperative Jobs.
I thought he was not bright but never checked.
Years later, I realized, my guess was not correct .

He was clever enough to claim the possession of the house and the land, for himself.

Much later, I realized all these ill treatments meted out were the guise to evict him, so one of the others could claim the house and the land.
I advised him to sort some help from my father. I am not sure my father did intervene but knowing him, he may have put his two cents.

My close relationship with him and my obvious dislike of his other siblings made it good for him, in the long run.

I told his mother directly that this ill treatment was unwarranted.

I used to share my books and he on his own way did his 'O' Level studies.

He perhaps could not pick up mathematics and science

Trying to teach seniors is not welcome those days.
He was but well read.

He knows more than enough how our Elephants are treated in the wild and in captivity.

He knows how to make a good kites.
He knows all the Ayurveda plants.

He is a living encyclopedia.

We had an orchid house in our house.
We were booted out of that house and we left never to return to our maternal village.
So we had to give the orchid house we treasured to this guy who was very young, then. Being a born agriculturist he could pick up gardening with ease.
He looked after it for over 50 years but one by one orchids started disappearing, perhaps stealing.
But he kept propagating one orchid with annual flowering.
It was a rare variety, called "Wesak Orchid".
Type of "May Orchid".

We gathered it from a jungle near Galagedara in 1952 where that famous murdered woman ? Leela was hung and was discovered subsequently.

Coming to the orchid, he said he is gradually losing his sight and asked me to propagate this variety for the next few years.
Which I obliged.
I did propagate it for over 25 years but only twice it bloomed.
I had a few saplings when I left Ceylon
I had no time to dispose them.
The orchids were in good health and all bloomed except this particular orchid.
I knew nobody could look after them well enough.
I never used artificial fertilizer.

No artificial fertilizer was my conviction.

With simple methods I got it right.
Only thing, I added was tea leaves and rarely some ash from plants, I burned.
I had a huge dragon plant which I uprooted due to its roots penetrating the cement cracks.

Vanilla plant, another orchid was there but no flowers.
But I did not give up.

That was the time I was getting interested in rooftop gardening.
Water plants and ornamental fish keeping were other interests.

But NO to orchids  (orchids need 40 to 60% shade and lot of humidity), well into retirement.

But I have a lovely collection of books on orchids.

With global warming peaking up gardening is not a hobby for old guy with little hair on top.

Now to the Cocoa Tree
Cocoa tree is the best tree to propagate orchids.
One day on my way back home from Colombo, I found a small rotten cocoa pod with a fruit vendor.
I did purchase huge amount of various bananas from him.
The idea was to get hold of the rotten cocoa
He obliged and I told him it was for seeds.

I managed to germinate only two out of the many seeds

I had the habit of collecting seeds and testing  how many would germinate out of 10 seeds.
Tomatoes was my favorite testing seed plant
Seeds included paddy seeds.

The cocoa plants  when sturdy enough were re-potted on two big pots.

I looked after them with much care, almost with the interest of Linux.

They needed lot of water.

The secret I discovered accidentally.

The black ants love the roots of this plant.

They make their nests well hidden from above.
Only when I get a nasty sting I know there are many eggs underneath.
The black variety.
I make a little but intentional commotion and they make subsidiary nests helping my rooftop garden plants.

Only a few are soldiers and most of them are docile

That is my antidote for red tiny ants.
They clean up red ants in 2 days.

The bounty is there are no red ants, if you have a cocoa tree.

Now getting ready to come over to Australia, I neglected the rooftop garden and one of the Cocoa tree died a natural death but the other one I kept going.
During the dry season most of the leaves except two or three fall and only the stem remains (in our rooftop garden) until the rain comes.

That is enough to keep the orchids surviving.

It's bark is perfect for orchids.

So I went to one of my other (relative) elder brothers (the other guy had gone to Trincomalee camp) to find a cocoa pod.

He was planning to go to Canada two weeks after me.

I told him not worth toiling in Ceylon.

The plan was for him to bring me a Cocoa Pod and the additional agenda was to have a good meal at Kandyan Reagency Hotel.

For me it was Hoppers and Hoppers.

This cocoa pod was given to my regular three wheeler driver for him to make few saplings for my rooftop garden.
If I do not come back, to Ceylon, he has to look after, only two cocoa plants.

I am sure would do that.

That is not the end of the Cocoa Story.

1. The piece of chocolate I ate today, had only the taste of chocolates and no real chocolate.
Most of it was bubble gum, almost 99%

2. Chocolates are the most expensive commodity weight for weight.

3. Real chocolate have over 300 micro ingredients.

4. Many of these ingredients have medicinal value.

5. I have been saying this for over 20 years and nobody in Ceylon consider growing cocoa commercially, like it used to be.

6. It is not labour intensive to grow and and harvest.

7. Some countries in Africa are dominating the world market and thereby decide the price of chocolate we eat.

8. I used to go to KANDOS chocolate factory in Palle Kelle, every Christmas
Chocolates were my standard Christmas gift.
Not any more.
I believe they are importing chocolate powder from Africa (if that factory is NOT taken over by Indian interests and thereby totally destroyed).

9. EDNA was another company making chocolates.

10. Three was another brand most likely Munchy Biscuits producing non-branded chocolate variety.

There is room for chocolates manufacturing in Ceylon but what matters is the taste and the quality.

Jack Fruit Seller

 Jack Fruit Seller

He is the craftiest of all and worse than an average politician.

I did not buy anything from him after initial investigations.

My involvement with him was related to my Fruit Vendor whom I knew for a very long time.
He undercuts the other guy without paying anything to the Municipality.
The above guy found this place as convenient as to sell his jack fruits.
He did not have a stall but ventured deliberately without paying taxes to the Municipality.

I did my home work before confronting him.

His premises were based on
We love jack fruits
Our women in the cities or suburbs do not want to touch the latex of this fruit.
It is a special skill which I learned from my school days.

Delicacy is "Pani Waraka"  or sweet Jack Fruit.
It is hard to find a good fruit bearing tree nowadays, vandalized by the Ma Ra regime.
What he was selling was not the real Sweet Jack fruit but was an inferior variety.
He does not sell it as a fruit.
He removes the endocarph of the fruit.
In the morning it is relatively cheap.
Once has has collected the daily income, he jacks up the price after 2PM.
This is the time when the University guys do their daily vegetable shopping.

I call him a mafiosi guy for this tactics.

It was OK but he started bringing other fruit varieties to undercut the established fruit vendor.
I once warned him and said I am going to report to the University, if he does any harm to my fruit vendor.

I did no have any dealing with him, afterwards.
He owns a lorry, later I discovered.
