A summary of Buddhist cosmology is given below.
Planes of Existences
There are 31 planes of existence.
They are four states of Unhappiness (Dugati)
1. Niraya
2. Tiracchana Yoni (animal Kingdom)
3. Peta yoni
4. Asura Yoni
Four happy states (Sugati)
1. Manusa
2. Six Devalokas
3. 16 Rupalokas
4. 4 Arupalokas
The Thirty One Planes of Existence
Scattered throughout the suttas are references to as many as thirty-one distinct "planes" or "realms" of existence into which beings can be reborn during their long wandering through Samsara.
These range from the extraordinarily grim and painful hell realms all the way up to the most exquisitely refined and blissful heaven realms.
Existence in every realm is temporary; in Buddhist cosmology there is no eternal heaven or hell.
Beings are born into a particular realm according to their past kamma.
When they pass away, they take rebirth once again elsewhere according to the quality of their kamma: wholesome actions bring about a favorable rebirth, while unwholesome actions lead to an unfavorable one and so the wearisome cycle continues.
The realms of existence are customarily divided into three distinct "worlds" (loka), listed here in descending order of refinement:
The Immaterial World (arupa-loka).
Consists of four realms that are accessible to those who pass away while meditating in the formless Jhanas.
The Fine-Material World (rupa-loka).
Consists of sixteen realms whose inhabitants (the devas) experience extremely refined degrees of mental pleasure. These realms are accessible to those who have attained at least some level of Jhana and who have thereby managed to (temporarily) suppress hatred and ill-will. They are said to possess extremely refined bodies of pure light. The highest of these realms, the Pure Abodes, are accessible only to those who have attained to "non-returning," the third stage of Awakening. The Fine-Material World and the Immaterial World together constitute the "heavens" (sagga).
The Sensuous World (kama-loka).
Consists of eleven realms in which experience — both pleasurable and not — is dominated by the five senses. Seven of these realms are favorable destinations, and include our own human realm as well as several realms occupied by devas.
The lowest realms are the four "bad" destinations, which include the animal and hell realms.

Rarity of Humanoids
Human beings (manussa loka)
Rebirth as a human being is extraordinarily rare.
The assumption here is there are only 5 types of humanoids in only five planets.
Below is a reproduction of various types of beings in the universe or galaxies

I. The Immaterial World (arupa-loka)
Realm Comments Cause of rebirth here
(31) Neither-perception-nor-non-perception (nevasaññanasaññayatanupaga deva)
(30) Nothingness (akiñcaññayatanupaga deva)
(29) Infinite Consciousness (viññanañcayatanupaga deva)
(28) Infinite Space (akasanañcayatanupaga deva)
The inhabitants of these realms are possessed entirely of mind.
Having no physical body, they are unable to hear Dhamma teachings.
II. The Fine-Material World (rupa-loka)
(27) Peerless devas (akanittha deva)
These are the five Pure Abodes (suddhavasa), which are accessible only to non-returners (anagami) and arahants. Beings who become non-returners in other planes are reborn here, where they attain arahantship.
Among its inhabitants is Brahma Sahampati, who begs the Buddha to teach Dhamma to the world
(26) Clear-sighted devas (sudassi deva)
(25) Beautiful devas (sudassa deva)
(24) Untroubled devas (atappa deva)
(23) Devas not Falling Away (aviha deva)
(22) Unconscious beings (asaññasatta)
Only body is present; no mind.
(21) Very Fruitful devas (vehapphala deva)
Beings in these planes enjoy varying degrees of jhanic bliss.
(20) Devas of Refulgent Glory (subhakinna deva)
(19) Devas of Unbounded Glory (appamanasubha deva)
(18) Devas of Limited Glory (parittasubha deva)
(17) Devas of Streaming Radiance (abhassara deva)
(16) Devas of Unbounded Radiance (appamanabha deva)
(15) Devas of Limited Radiance (parittabha deva)
(14) Great Brahmas (Maha brahma)
One of this realm's most famous inhabitants is the Great Brahma, a deity whose delusion leads him to regard himself as the all-powerful, all-seeing creator of the universe
(13) Ministers of Brahma (brahma-purohita deva)
Beings in these planes enjoy varying degrees of jhanic bliss.
(12) Retinue of Brahma (brahma-parisajja deva)
III. The Sensuous World (kama-loka)
Happy Destinations (sugati)
(11) Devas Wielding Power over the Creation of Others (paranimmita-vasavatti deva)
These devas enjoy sense pleasures created by others for them.
Mara, the personification of delusion and desire, lives here.
(10) Devas Delighting in Creation (nimmanarati deva)
These devas delight in the sense objects of their own creation.
(9) Contented devas (tusita deva)
A realm of pure delight and gaiety.
Bodhisattas abide here prior to their final human birth.
This is where the bodhisatta Maitreya (Metteya), the next Buddha, is said to dwell.
(8) Yama devas (yama deva)
These devas live in the air, free of all difficulties.
(7) The Thirty-three Gods (tavatimsa deva)
Sakka, a devotee of the Buddha, presides over this realm.
Many devas dwelling here live in mansions in the air.
(6) Devas of the Four Great Kings (catumaharajika deva)
Home of the gandhabbas, the celestial musicians, and the yakkhas, tree spirits of varying degrees of ethical purity.
The latter are analogous to the goblins, trolls, and fairies of Western fairy tales.
(5) Human beings (manussa loka)
Rebirth as a human being is extraordinarily rare.
It is also extraordinarily precious, as its unique balance of pleasure and pain facilitates the development of virtue and wisdom to the degree necessary to set one free from the entire cycle of rebirths.
The development of virtue and wisdom
The attainment of stream-entry (sotapatti) guarantees that all future rebirths will be in the human or higher realms.
States of Deprivation (apaya)
(4) Asuras (asura)
The demons — "titans" — that dwell here are engaged in relentless conflict with each other.
(3) Hungry Shades/Ghosts (peta loka)
Ghosts and unhappy spirits wander hopelessly about this realm, searching in vain for sensual fulfillment.
(2) Animals (tiracchana yoni)
This realm includes all the non-human forms of life that are visible to us under ordinary circumstances: animals, insects, fish, birds, worms, etc.
(1) Hell (niraya)
These are realms of unimaginable suffering and anguish.
Should not be confused with the eternal hell found in other religious traditions, since one's time here is — as it is in every realm — temporary.
Heaven
In Buddhist cosmology, the heaven realms are blissful abodes whose present inhabitants (the devas) gained rebirth there through the power of their past meritorious actions.
Like all beings still caught in samsara, however, these deities eventually succumb to aging, illness, and death, and must eventually take rebirth in other realms — pleasant or otherwise — according to the quality and strength of their past kamma.
The devas are not always especially knowledgeable or spiritually mature — in fact many are quite intoxicated by their sensual indulgences — and none are considered worthy of veneration or worship.
Nevertheless, the devas and their happy realms stand as important reminders to us both of the happy benefits that ensue from the performance of skillful and meritorious deeds and, finally, of the ultimate shortcomings of sensuality.

Why I is a powerful?
I
I is a powerful letter in English.
Not only because it creates "I Concept".
I exist and what matters is I and not any other I.
It excludes all the other I entities.
In Buddhism cardinal teaching IS that I does not exist, since there are many others Is around this, important (me) I, in both the animal and plant kingdom.
Moment one takes the I out and consider there are other hungry Is around us, we begin to practice Metta Meditation
That is the only one I practice not, Insight Meditation.
So this is a beginning point for one to Lose Weight.
You rear a cat or a dog.
You feed the cat or dog first.
You feed your kids and friends around you.
The excess food is dished out first.
The cardinal feature is YOU eat last and you eat less to survive.
Eat to live not “Live to eat like all Sri-Lankans”.
Obesity is looked after if you substitute all animal foods and animal fats with Coconut Oil or "Pol Sambol".
Having fed my pet fish including the tiny guppy I cannot sit and eat some fish flesh.
This is nothing to do with Buddhism but pure altruism!
Another step forward in Metta.
Is there a substitute for Meat/Flesh.
Luckily in 1970s when (under S.L.F.P.) when people were killing for a loaf of bread we developed the “Thriposa Program (of cause with added animal flesh like sprats and offal).
Now that a Sri-Lankan company has developed a “Samposa Brand” (based on Thriposa) of 4G Snack (four types of Grains) with sugared chocolate (I am against the sugaring or coating, though), one or two snacks is a good substitute for bread, buns and cakes (much better nutrition).
I have not left out milk.
I hate pure fresh milk.
Now I hate Sri-Lankan Tea which is made out of discard (used for manure in good old days) at the Colombo Auction.
Good Brand is labeled at Two Rupees a Gram.
We have a number of new Yogurt Drinks with Probiotis.
One can easily make yogurt at home with a Yogurt Maker, now at room temperature with the "Global Warming in Full Swing".
That part is for Losing Weight with bit of mild exercise and writing as a pastime, not Blogging!
One can lose more weight if you get rid of the fridge and freezer and do once in three day purchase of essentials!
By the way, Fridge can be used for keeping milk products contributing to global warming directly.
Breast Milk is meant to be dished out only when needed in mammals. Not in storage as breast milk bank for women who refuse to breast feed.
Now coming to my other Is which are much important than self
I.
I for Investigation (observation).
I for Interpretation.
I for Integration.
I for Incarceration (free thinking too with dogmas)
I for Investing the thought processes (not for conspiracy) for the right (good) purpose at the right time in "Now Nows".
Not necessarily for Meditation!
I for Infection.
I for Inflammation.
I for Immunity.
Last three are of course the pathological terms in use.

President Putin can deliver
Tuesday, February 25, 2014
President Putin has delivered, what all Russians could be proud of
My comments about Mr. Putin and Russian politics are proven wrong.
There aren't any credible geo-politicians, left on this planet
We are going from crisis to crisis.
President Putin has delivered, what all Russians could be proud of.
I watched “Sochi Olympics” with much more enthusiasm than watching Sir-Lankans playing cricket with Bangladesh and English getting a real drubbing in Test Cricket by Australians.
The C in cricket stands for Crime and Corruption and I have changed it to Wicket and W in Wicket stands for wickedness they handed over to English.
The mighty South Africans who played well.
Eventuality, caused burnt out for England, and Kevin Peterson (P stands for Pride here), the not so nice guy in the dressing room (because he speaks his heart out unlike, the English who are born with two tongues- one tries to speak the truth, the other is deceptive).
Before taking about Mr. Putin let me dispense the English and Australians.
Like the way they dealt with Kevin, English use the Terrorist Rump (the backside of English politics) who did sweet nothing to Ceylonese - Sri-Lankan- Image-to their advantage and dump them (like Kevin) off when the going is BAD or Touch, too Bad.
So before they went to Sochi, they were looking for holes (only found ARSxxxxx) in Russian Terrorist Rump and found nothing to find and ended up looking for toilet bowls and were balled out in Medal Table.
The BBC (they have an obsessive group of so called almost Nutty, sometimes Nutzie) group of journalists who were always unhappy even given the best of comforts) never portrayed the true “Russian Spirit”.
Unlike the British, the ordinary Russians are very sweet guys and girls.
They can bring the best out, given even the worst of comforts.
They looked after their stray dogs, too.
They proved their mettle without any doubt in Sochi.
The Australians who are also petting terrorist rump (what is left of it) fared worse than English.
What has happened to their “Macho Image” in Cricket and Rugger?
They can say it is a desert and Wild Continent and can wash their hands off.
But I am amazed.
To the Americans, my hat's off to the Olympians who adopted, so many puppies.
He is a guy who everyone should admire.
What has happened to “Puppy Sense” of British and Australians?
They must be thinking of quarantining the hypothetical Russian terrorist genes in their “Puppy Blood” before adopting them but they could adopt any terrorist with two legs, left our shores without any hesitation.
That is their wisdom in politics, of course.
Coming to Canada winning the Olympic Hockey (my favorite game being a hockey player of yesteryear (not ICE hockey) is creditable but their political brain is frozen when it comes to terrorists.
It is the breeding ground for the “Next Generation” of terrorists including money laundering and “Yuppie Type” guys and girls involved in “Cyber Cafe Crimes” (money is raised with illegal drugs coming from Mexico through Americas).
Those behind the Iron Curtain dealt a body blow to “Fanatic Muslim Terrorists” with and Iron Fist which Mrs Thatcher now in her grave could be proud of.
Not only that they topped the Medal Table too.
In the mean time all in the European Commission guys were busy splitting the Ukraine into Anarchy.
That is how the Europeans outside, the Greater Russia expanding their Neo-colonialism.
I think Mr. Putin should put an end to this SAGA in Ukraine with real politics, now that the Sochi Olympics is over.

Are YOU a Successful Politician?
How to become a Successful Politician
I was getting totally fed up of all politics both local and global, mainly because it effected my writing habits, especially books.
I was particularly interested in Election in USA.
Local election, I knew the outcome well in advance and the total lack of political will of the opposition.
They were all geared up for the big post and spent all their money, resources and time, on that post.
Burnt out Syndrome.
They forgot that in parliamentary democracy what is important is vibrant opposition.
I say our citizen's are stupid enough to give 2/3rd majority.
I was particularly interested in ousting corrupt War Mongering Democrats.
It has come good but very soon MIC with it's might will turn Donald Trump into War Footing, starting from Israel to begin with.
Ukraine has become a dead end for Americans but EU guys with twisted tounge will continue to carry the War Flames.
This was of course a dream
This is the Topic of my next book, too.
It has some caveats.
Book won't be published but only on digital form.
If any body wants a copy FREE, he or she has to read one of my old books and send me an email to the email address given, in that book in the last page of the book.
Let me say, it is a Yahoo Mail opened well before Gmail.
I have never got an email in respond to any of my books published, either due to nobody has read it/ them at all or s/he has not read the last few pages.
Then they have to find this blog site (I have not given any clues) and quote the latest blog piece to qualify for free book.
Idea is to promote this site and not my books.
Let me say a few words to the guys who were selected to the Parliament I Ceylon.
1. Will they pass a bill to cancel pensions for MPs?
This is to save money for the coffers to begin with.
This has to be done before they take over the official residences of past presidents.
I bet that they cannot get this piece passed in the present parliament.
Reasons are many.
a) The privileges for a MP far exceed any CEO in America.
b) When they see the comforts provided to the MPs in the present parliament, no one would blame Pxxxxx Nanayakkara (who lost his seat for the first time and he was a List MP not answerable to any average citizen. He brought filth to the parliament for the first time) his crave and stamina to last so long without repugnance.
c) They will never get 2/3rd majority for this bill.
At worst they would say they would introduce that this "no pension for MPs" in the next constitution.
I will leave at that.
To read about my dream one has to read my digital book.
This book is given free to anybody including present parliamentarians to promote Total Digitization of Government Activities.
This government promised digitization and I want to see how they would do it, successfully.
I will not dish out or volunteer how it can be done being a fully digital man for ages.

Why I do not use a Mobile
Tuesday, February 11, 2014
I do not use a Mobile
Mind you I have a land phone.
Read this in tandem with attention deficit (new syndrome defined by me) below.
This is something I posted elsewhere.
I have 100 or more reasons why I do not have or use a cellphone.
I will list them as they come to my mind but not in any order of priority.
As an intern I hated all calls mobile included since it meant, a batch of new arrival of small kids who have arrived in absolutely appalling condition.
Some of them fitting due to low blood sugar nearing zero.
In fact, I had 8 to 10 kids whose blood sugar and CSF sugar levels were down to zero.
The government at that time told the public it was due to encephalitis and I proved them wrong even without my medical registration completed.
I used to take blood samples to Medical Reaserch Laboratory in Borella and come the next week to collect the reports.
This is during Sirima and NM and Covinn time.
Then in 6 months later when I went to collect my own data they had disappeared mysteriously from, medical records.
Then, what I did subsequently, I have to pen down on a latter date of my life, nearing my death.
One thing was sure, leaving this messy Health Service and I decided to leave the Public Health Service for good and I was glad I did that and if you read Dengue Dilemma elsewhere, in my writings, one can easily guess it.
It has deteriorated in quality even though, it has expanded.
As a doctor, I hated bad news by telephone.
We rarely hear good news when on duty.
Later in life when cellphone came, I believed in CPP (Calling Party Pays) and flatly refused a cellphone.
It is a public nuisance.
It is a nuisance when the cellphone owner has switched it off when one really need him / her.
When you travel on a public transport one cannot have a snooze to drown the inconvenience with frequent telephone interruptions.
I love silence in public places.
Even though, I don’t use it, I have to foot the bill (kid's telephone bills).
No work get done in public officers.
They are busy answering their private calls of nature and it is more frequent than the real call of nature.
It is cheaper to redirect a message by email that should end up as a junk or a piece of gossip.
We use it for gossip not for creative work.
It is private enemy number one when you own the bank or telephone company a small sum in arrears and the reminders by them costs more than the amount you actually own them.
I think you got the picture correct.
I think it is enough for today but I will add more on future date when I run short of a topic to write.
Memory and Gadgets
Attention Deficit Related (Mundane gadgets like tablets) to Technology Addiction.
Many years ago, I posted an article on the web regarding memory specially in reference to Buddhist Monks of yesteryear (not today´s TV acting MahaMewna Type) and all the points except my assertion on Mediation Practice (focused attention on the present moment) was copied by an Author of the Scientific American Publication and most recently by another author.
This is one reason, I thought of writing a few books before my memory fails by default and due to old age.
It is rather loss of short term memory and now I have coined a fancy Medical Term.
Few years ago (I still do not take a note or reminder but devised a 24 hour simple protocol to enhance day to day activity), I noticed lapses in my memory and got activated.
1. I won´t use the telephone but buy a cheapest cellphone when I go abroad and drop it to a bin at the airport (this is the biggest handicap and in the middle of your work, one may give a call with a low priority-gossip related call).
When I tried to do that long time ago, one of my relatives in Singapore asked for it and duly obliged. Another one I used for sometime gave it free to a classmate of mine.
His son had lost his expensive cellphone when travelling to Colombo by bus.
Who Cares for an expensive cellphone.
Thank God, one can switch off the cell, then what is the use of a telephone, if it is not doing it's job, simply transfer a message.
I use my land phone at my discretion since I pay the bill.
Not even the Telecom (delay in payment) or the a bank officer can break that law and break into my freedom.
2. Won´t sit in front of the TV and watch web videos unless it is related to animals, especially Elephants.
One Baby Elephant dead was trapped in a tree in this country.
There is a video of an elephant mum protecting its young baby from hyenas (we have to protect the young one's from political hyenas and some rabid monks in saffron cloth).
3. I live with living things, the dog, fish, and plants, including water plants.
All three will die if I do not have some simple protocol, not so rigid but to remind me that there are other lifes on this planet, in relation to me.
Fortunately fish can go on for 10 days without food.
If neglected any longer toxic algae will kill them.
A dog will die within three days without water, if there is no care giver.
Believe it or not Dogs never use telephones even in an emergency.
They only BARK.
My dog in particular will start barking for no reason when I am on the phone.
He wants me to stop talking quickly and he has not got a degree in economics but he knows how to cut my telephone bill.
The garden will go to wilderness in no time.
All these little things one has to be mindful, however busy one is in day to day life, even if one has servants to look after these odd jobs.
They will never do them right in my experience.
4. Use the computer and the email productively.
5. Keep in touch with family and family friends in person.
When one sees a friend, just stop for a few minutes and greet them and have some empathy.
You may not see them again could even be run over by a vehicle driven by a fast track lumpen with a cellphone in hand.
I am predicting now with Facebook and low priority web videos, the present young generation will hit a very low point, in their middle age with Attention Deficit and I am going to coin the Medical Term, Attention Deficit Related to (Mundane gadgets like tablets) Technology Addiction (AD-R-TA- RTA stands for Road Traffic Accidents and some of these gadgets may trigger an accident on the road too).
Trouble Getting Sinhala font for Debian!

I would have another go at LibreOffice 25.2-
Complete failure to import fonts. However, if i copy a Sinhala font from another document source(I do not have any) and paste, they are taken at face level without any distortion.
These are the symbols available in Google.
