Elephant Myths

Elephant Myths

The Elephant Corridor in Sri-Lanka

It is a myth.

Yala, Wagamuwa, Wilpattu and Uda Walawe are not connected by a corridor for the elephants to move freely, since the rest of the land is densely populated and there is not even a hypothetical corridor.
My calculation is that not even one percent of the land is reserved for the elephants.

If I assume 10% (ten) of the land is allocated in a hypothetical space on this island  as a zoological garden and all the elephants are relocated inside it for the people to see them as exhibits, and only 0.1% of the total population come to the zoo, to see them on one go (again hypothetical) ,there will be one man or woman standing every 10 feet (3.3 meters) of the perimeter and no elephant can move out without touching a human being.

If we get 1% to visit the zoo, one can stand and won’t be able to stretch the hands without pushing and shoving.

Elephant will have to trample 10 of them to get out of the perimeter and see the man’s world, which is fully developed.

One may wonder, why I used 10% which is high land mass in commercial concepts. It is very simple. My estimate is that there should be 35% (it is less than 25% and we will be like Dubai in about 50 years of development from now-we might even have to import water then) of total land to be reserved for rain forest, if we are to maintain at least 10% of the perennial rivers.
So if we roughly have 30% for the rain forest, elephants should take the major share of at least one third of it which will be 10%.
That is why I state that there is not even 1% of land left for our elephants.
So the natural selection will let 500 elephants to survive in the this land and in that estimate it is really endangered species.
Stating that we have 5000 elephants in the forest is a mythical figure concocted by our Mega Media Men (M.M.M) to satisfy the politicians.

I think each elephant is counted ten (10) times in making that mythical figure, sometimes by reputed NGO's.
Development of the man’s world is also a big myth in the same stretch of imagination, since only a very few with patronage will be able to enjoy it.

I have made the calculation confusing and difficult so that politicians won’t be able to understand my logic of it but the figures are below for one to work out.

Human Population density in Sril-Lanka averaged out but in reality it is much more than that because people congregate on socio-economic reasons.

The population density in Gamphaha is more than Decca and Calcatta.

Kandy has 10 times the population density of Gaza Strip.

Beauty is nobody talks about population control.

I have used the total population projected in another 10 to 50 years for my calculation since total square miles is roughly 25,000.

1000 in a square mile
400 in a Square Kilometer
400 x 2.4=1000

Reserve only 10% 2500 Sq Miles(6500 Sq. Meters)
0.1 of population 250,000

Every 10 feet or 3.3 meters there is a man/woman standing.
Location   Indian Ocean     Coordinates   7°N 81°E

Area       65,610 km2 (25,332 sq miles)

Area rank     25th

Coastline   1,340 km (833 miles)

Highest elevation   2,524.13 m (8,281.27 ft)

Highest point    Pidurutalagala

Water bodies     870 km² of water =400 square miles (only about 1%)
( If Water body  is 1.5 % it equals to 1000 Km)

Population density   1000 sq miles
Population density  400 km

Hypothetical Elephants   population is 1000 and it is exaggerated to 5000 by local media giants (Biggest lie in this country).
Reserve   2500 Sq miles 50x50=2500;10feet
Reserve   6500 Km 80x80 6400:  3.3 meters

The tooth, the whole tooth, nothing but the whole tooth, is the story behind the gold, the other elements in the amalgam

The tooth, the whole tooth, nothing but the whole tooth, is the story behind the gold, the other elements in the amalgam

What ever the Truth Commission says, rest assured the truth is a mystery and invention of mankind but nobody can hide behind a tooth.
It remains for ages revealing the telltale story of a the truth and the origin of mammals and mankind and their evolution.
It is so hard it is very difficult to burn or hide the truth it reveals.
What a bite it has in forensic medicine.
This is not about the evolution but something else.
This is about the amalgam and the dentist who uses the amalgam to add extra weight and worth to the this historical object.
It is the truth about the tooth and how to become rich in spite the decaying and age.
Can you ever become a friend of a dentist and get him to reveal the truth behind the amalgam?
Especially the that one crafted with gold (teeth).
I guess, you would not.
They will never reveal the truth about the amalgam they use but they will always reveal the truth about the tooth that it needs attention of some sort.
But I will reveal the truth about the amalgam if not the tooth since the the pathologists job is to get to the bottom of the tooth and truth.
I will tell you how many grams or gains of gold and how much of other metals in the amalgam.
But there is a problem with that approach.
One has to die and one has to collect the tooth at the time of postmortem and one cannot neither recover the gold nor the money nor the prestige lost during the procedure both in life and after death.
We chop everything to pieces and only very tiny pieces we can examine.
I can tell you how tiny was the element gold in comparison to the price you paid for the filling.
You may say why not do a X-ray and estimate the real value of gold but it cannot be done that way.
It will only show a a shadow of the metal implantation and it cannot tell what metal it is exactly.
The dentist will never tell you but he will give you the exact charge of the procedure and no money back guarantee or the gold cannot be exchanged at the bullion.
One cannot do that in any case after death and now it is a museum specimen of the pathologist to tell your telltale story of the tooth to others not yet done the honours for the pathologist to step in.
The tooth, the whole tooth, nothing but the whole tooth, is the story behind the gold, the other elements in the amalgam and the tooth and and nothing but truth.

If I am made a judge in an imaginary Court some of my Judgments may look like this.

Complainant

One who lost his gold crown on one of his teeth.

How did you lose your gold crown?
He smashed my face and I lost my gold tooth.

My Lord,
He took it.

Sir he is lying.
My Lord.
He swallowed his tooth and put the blame on me.
Is it a gold tooth.
Yes sir.
Can you prove it with your dentist.
Yes, My Lord.
Take him to protective custody and observe all his excreta and see where the gold tooth is and reports back to me soon.
Keep custody of all the productions intact.

Next hearing.

The case about the gold tooth Sir.
We did not find the gold tooth and we through the productions away.
They were smelly. I thought it might offend you in courts, Sir.
Did I ask you to bring the productions?
No Sir.

Did I ask you to throw the productions away?
No Sir.
Contempt of Court.
Take him to custody now.

Turning to the defense lawyer.
Are you happy with the policeman's report.
Yes Sir.
Are you pleading for lesser offense of theft?
Or are you defending grievous hurt?
Judging by his mood and tone, the lawyer pleaded for lesser offense.

Turning to the lawyer representing the complainant.
I want to see the dentist next time.

Next hearing

Dentist appearing in court in professional attire.
Are you the dentist who attended to case No-001?

Yes My Lord.
Is it a gold tooth?

No it is a gold Crown?
What you mean it is not the whole tooth?

No Sir, it is the top most part.

This man says he lost a gold tooth.

What you call the bottom part.

We call it the root Sir.

Have you ever made a gold tooth.

No Sir.

Why?

In cosmetic surgery people are only worried about the external appearance.
The root is hidden and we put a different amalgam there to save costs.
What is the cost of the gold?

After some pause he gives an estimate.

Now tell me your charges for this case.
He gives the charges for the case.

Gold costs less than your charges?

Sir, we charge for the cosmetics and not for the gold.

Isn't it a fabrication?

Dentist was lost for words.

Aren’t you ethically bound to tell the patient the procedure in simple terms.

You are warned this time.
Next time I will report the matter to the Medical Council.
Thank you for your time in courts.

Judgments were postponed for the next hearing.
The dentist was sweating by the time he left the courts.

Comparing politics to religious beliefs

Comparing politics to religious beliefs

I watched a BBC program on religion and I was amazed how a polite discussion went into mayhem and the moderator abruptly ended it.

The moderator lost the control and balancing act.

I believe that they edited it to make it presentable.

This would not have happened in a political discussion, even though, the politicians have a fixed agenda (enticing the voting base).

I felt politics devoid of religion is more amenable to alternative views than politicians who survive on religious base.

When politics is mixed with religion, the outcome is that there is no political policy or viability.

My observation having listened to it are as follows.

1. Religion makes one polarized.

2. Religion makes one to be blind to reality.
The brain loses its creative parts to be activated by default but focused in one area ( I call it the area of prejudice) and 90% of the brain is never utilized for life after indoctrination.
What in the training of political assassins (MKUltra design) call brain washing.
There was no room for alternative views except devout Muslims and Christians ideology.
It was as if Bible War was played live.

3. Policy making is abandoned to serve the religion of its superiority of inferiority complex.

I did a bit of Youtube survey.
There are over 20 practicing religions world wide (if one takes India it is over thousands- birth place of all religions) and over 100 belief systems.
So each religion roughly has five or more belief systems in it.
There is no reconciliation either within or outside the main discourse.
Breeding ground for confusion.
No way of scientific testing of the value added or value decreased thinking behaviour.

There is no room for independent reevaluation or free thinking.
There is a total disregard for emancipation or reality testing.

Reality testing is the current vogue but never achieved.

Be a real politician and serve the public at large without discrimination by race or religion or caste or creed.

This is what Bertram Russel tried to do in 1920s, hiding in China (He was evicted by the Church and declared dead while recuperating from double pneumonia (fatal during pre-antibiotic era).

It is true to this day.

Dogma dominates but in America over 30% never goes to the Church except for the wedding ceremony.

Why?

Key Points in Viable Politics

Key Points in Viable Politics

I was listening to the Lecture Series by the Dean, Faculty of Politics in Singapore.
He is very good at highlighting key points, often extracted from guest lectures he moderated.

According to him the success story of Singapore were sustaining;

1. Law and Order

Nobody rides (compare three wheelers and motor bikes in Ceylon) or overtake on the left side of the road.
Just think of the current traffic jam in Kandy city.
Twice the number of police who has no idea of the city, is managing the traffic.
Only advice from me is to avoid visiting the city except, if you want to watch Perehara, the festival of The Tooth (not for Elephant by the way).

2. Zero Toleration of corruption
In our case the legal fraternity and the legislature promotes corruption and delays all investigations.

Idea of getting elected (current opposition leader is a list MP and the elected opposition leader was demoted by artful manipulation) is to cover up shoddy deals.

3. Number three of course the respect for the Judiciary and its independence.

Now we have a Buddhist monk wrongfully supporting an Elephant Dealer (hiding a Baby Elephant in his Villa not a Temple) and freely dishing out sermons and eating Dhana for preaching non (violence) Avihinsa for baby Elephants.

This is after 4 years of good governance and bogus (thugs in saffron cloths) priests who were in prison were freed by presidential decree.

In that sense, I am totally against parading elephants for 10 days (one day would be sufficient) in the Kandy city.

They should be free in the jungles (not Pinnawela Prison) grazing.

Sadly we do not have jungles (destroyed from the Time of C.P. De Silva, Minister of Lands and Irrigation) for them to grace and graze.

The key point four (my key point) is people who have been abroad for prolong periods and come here to contest the presidential elections.

I will relate an episode in U.K. during L.T.T.E peak offenses in Ceylon in which many doctors mostly from Colombo faculty visited the hospital domiciled by me for a guest lecture series.

After the lecture series (I was on call) these Sinhala doctors came to the hospital lounge and met me there and ask me for a contribution to oppose L.T.T.E.
I told them, give me a list of doctors who would come back to Ceylon and work after their training, if any in U.K is finished.

None.

I told them, keep your pounds for yourselves.

I am not going to oppose my friends (none were L.T.T.E sympathizers, mostly against) simply because they are Tamil.

I will go back and work in Ceylon, at least to fulfill the obligation of 12 year bond period (which I signed) to avoid vacation of post.

Of course, I joined the university, never wanted to be in the Department of Health (Government Service).

None of my Sinhala my batch mates paid a visit (after the lectures) but all my Tamil doctor friends paid a courtesy visit.

Now my contributions.

1. I opposed the J.V.P in 1970s but never betrayed parallel batch mates who were J.V.P sympathizers when army had a cordon and search operations in the University.
If you do a proper survey of the army’s tactics from 1960s (from P.M. Sirimavo to President Premadasa to MR), they were not fair to Sinhala or Tamil or Muslim (they took the side of the government, wrong in political perspective but they were duty bound) detainees.
Most ended up in death and I saw the dead bodies with my own eyes in Digana in 1989 when Premadasa was the President.

2. I was not in this country in 1980s and part of 90s.
When Premadasa, Athlathmudali and Gaminie were assassinated.

3. My return in late 1980s (1989 in particular) was greeted with mayhem.

I was not a witness to most of the L.T.T.E. attacks except Temple of Tooth bombing.

My name was in the 10 of J.V.P hit list in 1980s, one of the attendants under me (warned me to get out before the hit) who was working for J.V.P. told me.

I never saw him again presumed missing or in jail.

4. I went abroad (this time to New Zealand) but could never erase those incidents to this day.

5. Second term of Chandrika and SBs mayhem specially in Kurunegala and Nuwara Eliya and Kothmalai, I opposed.

6. Then the last regime with Ganja and Elephant trade I opposed.

What was the outcome of all these.

Nothing but dwindling of elephants (natural resources) and financial resources.

Same rogues in saffron cloth or in white parliament attire are still in the parliament or in high places and nobody in prison.

I wish not to be born again with reborn Amaradeva singing, in this blessed land.

Survival of the not so Fit

Survival of the not so Fit

I have a window of opportunity to voice my opinion.
I will lie low once the election is declared, according to the statutory requirement of the bizarre J.R.J. concoction or addiction to politrics (not politics).

I hope the Election Commissioner will not fall prey to the wrong interpretation of the judiciary and having a PC election to elect local drug mafia to run the unfair ground realities.

My conviction is that we need a referendum to nullify the need of a referendum to change the clauses.

Better still abolish the constitution, lock stock and barrel and form a simple constitution to represent citizens not the individuals of political parties.

The current piece is to pen down how I survived and still living in this country.

It is all due to my instinct.

Never trust a policeman or politician in this country.

The first survives on helping the politician to lie at lib and go scot free on all wrong doings.

The latter obstructs the judiciary to function independently.

One good decision won’t make the judiciary exonerate of its wrong doings and excesses in the past.

It has long a way to go.
It has not done enough.

The loop holes should be closed for the good governance to succeed.

In a country where thugs run the Tuition Institutions and the Garbage Industry to become rich so that they become presidential aspirants shows how deep in the gutter we all are without exception.

This piece is about me not them.

I learned the good behaviour and not to lie in a Catholic School.

I was told by the Sinhala Teacher that I have a bright future and he never specified it.
He came in a national dress and after three months of training in English he wore a trouser one day and disappeared the next day.

He introduced me to Kumaratunga Munidasa.

The English teacher said the taller the bamboo grows the lower it bends in an idiomatic sense, if ever I succeeded be nice to the less fortunate.
There was a bit of doubt in her voice, and she sensed her time was out and the private school was taken over by the government.

Then there was a sports master Tommy Arther who introduced me to the sporting sense “what matters is participation and not winning by any means”.

Then there was a teacher by convention but almost a priest by soul who tried to convert us to Christianity, who failed miserably to answer our barrage of questions about the god and his creations.

I was thrown out first and from outside I was instrumental in formulating more difficult questions and all non Christian were thrown out in one block.

Fortunately we did not have a Muslim in our class.

Then our maths teacher (husband of our the English Teacher) was so cruel to my fellow beings and one day I took a set of books from another student and landed on the back of the teacher as he was returning from the back of the class to the front.
I quietly came to my desk and nobody in the class said who did it after one week of investigation by the teachers and the rector, and the culprit was never found.

Next of my antics would have come to criminal ends and fortunately for me, the school was mixed with the Convent (governments failed mixed school strategy) and one of the young male teachers who was our class teacher was caught (I went on a bogus errand to see what he was doing) by me admiring girls legs and back side from the corner of our class which was separated only by a screen.

That appalled me and I decided I would not set foot on this school again and stayed at home.

I did not say why but my father would have sensed that I had done something wrong, since in an unrelated incident I hit one of my class mates and dumped him in the gutter in front of the Convent as a punishment for uncapping my cap with a flip.

Of course my father had to buy a police cap with straps, which I never wore on my way to school.

I used it as a football.

The first person I ditched out was E.W.Adhicarum.

He was a Pali scholar but not a scientist.
He was never a philosopher he claimed to be.

I was fortunate not to have a good science teacher and I started reading collection of English books with some scientific notions from my father's collection.

Then the Sputnic went up and a future scientist (not a doctor) was born.

I came to a Buddhist School in the city.
How I entered there was another story apart from my sports records and Sargent of the Cadet Team.

Cadet and Scouting were alien to me.

The first thing I learned or introduced were vulgar and street terms and four letter words in the city.

Kandy city was no better then.

Teachers were horrible including Bumi Putra whom we managed to chase  out of the school.

Of course he stole the intellectual property of the Pali Department and published them as his own.
J.R.J’s one of the early and first actions was to close the Pali and English department in one go.

His aim was to destroy the Peradeniya University which stood up to his step motherly treatment.

Creation of U.G.C and restricting grants was his ploy to stunt its growth.

The next I ditched out was Abrham T Koover, a rationalist with Indian roots.

He had a seminar in Kandy.
I too was in attendance.
I got one of my friends to ask a question.
Are you sure of your father was the question.
He said I am sure of my mother but not the father.
Then I got up and asked;

How can you be a rationalist, if you are not sure of your father?

This was below par attack by me and he was hooted out of the auditorium.

I think a philosopher was born at that moment but without credentials.

Dishing out current politicians and BBS is chicken feed for me.

How did I chose medicine for career?

It was a pure accident and not a design of my own.

I actually threatened to leave the anatomy block one day and never to return again and it was the lady professor with motherly attitude, changed my decision.

I think she should have left me to be my own, without taking somebody else career post by me.

One day after passing the ‘O” Level with some distinction including mathematics, applied maths and biology we were asked to gather into a class room vacant.
Our class teacher and few of the ‘A’ level teachers addressed us and told us’ those who want to do maths go to maths room and those who want to do biology remained seated.
It was abrupt and without any counsel.

I was dumbfounded by the attitude of the teachers.

I thought to myself, the easy way to enter into the university was biology.
There was another reason a guy whom I hated joined the maths class.

I got him out of my cohorts.

The aim was to enter the University and nothing but.

I was the only one who got in from my class.

In passing I must relate a story related to me by one of my class mates one year after my retirement.

He said I was very good in soft ball cricket and they would try all their best to avoid me getting into the school team (as a newcomer from the neighbouring village).

I told him that one can get me out in three balls and cricket was not my game.

I have a very big blind spot in my left eye and it is getting bigger by the age.

That is the reason I do not drive a car now.

I would kill somebody one day.

But I am sure somebody else will kill me during Esala Perehara.

I won’t visit Kandy till it is over.

Thankfully I got a backache now trying to pull a rubber hose pipe.

That will keep me out for 10 days at least.

Tools for Human Survival; What are they?

Tools for Human Survival;

What are they?

We are at a critical juncture where dogmas overrule the human sanity.

When wisdom is necessary, the religion of various shades and shapes take precedence over prudence.
Human history is inundated with examples and Wars.
Bible war is an example and we are playing the same wars digitally now.
The technique of Recruitment is Brain Washing on the line of MK-Ultra, which was designed to train assassins.
Unfortunately we do not learn lessons from the past but continue to repeat them.

We are now more closer to a Nuclear War than 50 years ago.

India, Pakistan, China, Israel, USA (UK alliance), Russia and France has nuclear capability.
Iran is aspiring to be among them.
They say having a weapon is a deterrent.

What way?
A madman or mad women from any of those countries can press the button of nuclear war.

We only have one planet and we cannot escape in a rush.

Leave alone penetrating the Van Allen Belt.

Currently we are unable to get established in another planet or on our moon.

We are beings who can sustain one atmospheric pressure.

We cannot survive in Himalaya range more than few weeks.

Under water in high pressure range unthinkable.
Tools of survival are only a few.

Think if we are invades by an alien beings and become slaves under them.
Then we will shed all religions, black or white supremacy and all the types of races and unite.

Ceylon is a good example.

Two warring races (human) and four or five religions and numerous political parties vying for power.

No unity in diversity.

Drop the race.

Drop the religion.

Drop the language.

Drop the power of money.

Speak as one Human Species.

We are long way off this target.

Then only we can speak of saving our planet.

Tools of Wisdom
I found a book named “Words of Wisdom” and bought it without glancing through its pages.
Human error and no wisdom at all, on my part, at the time of the purchase.
I read it on my way home and could NOT find a single phrase, that exited creative part of my brain.
It was trapped in a single dogma that suggested that only the divinity has the wisdom and man is devoid of any (? sanity).

It was an appalling misjudgment of mind and its working.

I thought of writing something.
This is what I could come up with.

Mind never minds its own business but always mine its inner mysteries without proper tools of distinction.
If one can find the proper tools, not only one would open the mind to wisdom door but also free the mind from rigid dogmas that hinder its progress through transition.

From dogma to wisdom!

Tools of Religion
Tools of Religion are based on few exclusive dogmatic interpretations, as far as the so called God is concerned.

The concept of God is the foolish creation of mankind and there was never an old god or an existing god.

I have a theory (plausible) that if ever Alien Beings visited this planet (God means coming from the sky) they were venerated as goods, by Aztecs, Mayans or in this part of the world Hindu Gods.

Our concept of Yakku, Deva and Naga in prehistory was either the variation of the above Hindu Gods or more likely the prehistoric man (exterminated by the visitors from India) who were sent into oblivion by the visitors.

Religion was created to allay fear for the unknown, leave alone the fear of death.
It is strange that religion itself creates fear among its followers.

A strange PARADOX of all.

Coming to the tools of religion please note the following expressions.
1. Fear for the unknown and the need for a universal protector gave way to the origin of faith and an almighty!

2.Intolerance (of other gods or religions even by killing)

3. Exclusiveness (either forced conscription like terrorists or cruel punishment to the outsiders)

4. Cruelty (sword at the beginning, now bombs including Nuclear)

5. Punishment (Stoning to begin with and later by laws of extremes)

6. Blind Allegiance (one cannot apply the 13 or so qualifications of Kalama Sutta)

7. Dogmatism (scripts are always sacred be that it is Bible or Quran)

8. Faulty analysis of what is not real or existing (God is the very good example)

9. No religion provides a life line for the subjects presently living or born in the future.

10. All the religions promise to provide solace Only in future tense or afterlife.

11. I do not need a religion that does not provide enlightenment, emancipation or real freedom NOW in this life.

12. All religions are really cruel on mankind’s present predicament (escape from all dogmas of self made -man-made- creations) of any resolve, redemption or real escape from the bondage to dogmas.

Postscript;

The percentages cited below may vary according to the faith.

About 60% is indifferent to any form of religion.
Another 20% is ambivalent.

Currently about 20%, the rest is rigid adherent to the respective faith and this percentage is steadily falling.

They are the ones who want the rest of the 80% to be converted by force or any means.

When this is about 10% or below 10% the crisis sets in and the active terrorist breeds come into operation.
This is the period when there is lot of pain and suffering for the average man on the street.

We are fast approaching this point and it takes about another 50 to 60 years for the religions to become extinct (my prediction) from this planet and a long period of stability for the human race.

I am gone by then!
