Backbox Linux is a Ubuntu based Linux that has only a few applications but for penetration testing.
Kali Linux which I have never used but Parrot OS which has a Mate desktop and hence, Debian based in that respect is another Linux tool for penetration testing. It also has a desktop edition.
All these can be mounted on a USB.
But I prefer Parrot OS, since it is light weight and has tons of applications along with penetration testing tools.
