Happy New year to ARCH Derivatives
Ceylonese New Year is two weeks away and it is all about our Sun which comes right on top of our vertex, if one is on the equator.
I am a Physics Guy with some mathematical base that is why I am good with Linux.
Biology or Medicine was my chosen profession which I gave up 25 yeas ago practicing but continued to teach until my retirement at 65 plus years, not medical guys but Dental Guys.
It was one of the Dental Student who introduced me to Linux and he now a very good Oral Surgeon.
It is all about the time Sakyawarthi Years or Roman Years.
Only Africa has its land right on the Equator and they are well adapted to Sun Rays and not the white guys who are deficient in an enzyme that determine melanin pigment melanization.
Let me finish wit Artix.
It is the only, Arch derivatives that deals with at least 4 INIT Systems.
If I remember right there were at least 6 Init Systems and only SytemD and OpenRC (Deuvan) survived to this day.
SytemD
OpenRC
Runit
S6.
All the others have only one INIT system and cannot coexist with other derivatives. Other init sytems are bit messy and Windows system come from one branch.
Still with time of counting time which the Kings in ancient times wanted for their tax collection from the veritable subjects.
There is a caveat here.
Earth does not spin in 364 day exactly but little a few minutes longer.
I did not understand this but all the same I enjoyed our New Year celebration.
But over years I decided to celebrate Wesak since lord Buddha was the greatest human being who ever lived on this planet.
He did not believe in Gods but believed in that there are other living beings in the Universe.
So this so called yearly calader has many variations from Australia to Africa to Americas which gradually died with disappearance of old but great civilizations from Myans to Babylonians.Mayans
Sumerians
Assyrians
Akkadians
Babylonians
Mohandajaro and Harappan civilization did not have priests or religions.
There cities were
Chola vira
Happapan
Lothan
Sukodata
Mohendo jaro
All these civilizations had a calendar of their own.
That is why we have leap yeas to accommodate the lost time every 4 years.
It started with the time which corresponded with to the location of the civilization and not the center or the equator which we call latitude in relation to the equator. In geography, latitude is a geographic coordinate that specifies the north-south position of a point on the surface of the Earth or another celestial body.
Latitude is given as an angle that ranges from −90° at the south pole to 90° at the north pole, with 0° at the Equator. Lines of constant latitude, or parallels, run east-west as circles parallel to the equator. Latitude and longitude are used together as a coordinate pair to specify a location on the surface of the Earth.
Coming to ARCH Derivatives and their problems
It all due to their fixation to KDE.
KDE derived from CDE is a window manager and not an operating ssystem like Gnome.
KDE lacks software repository.
Having adopted KDE the Arch guys had to develop their own software and a packge management system which did not inegrate with thier ARCGh derivative.
They had to develop AUR .
AUR, also called Arch User Repository, is a community-driven repository for Arch-based Linux distributions. It allows users to compile packages from the source and then install them via Pacman.
1. Bluestar has Octopus which is very messy.
2. Endeavour OS Merch store does not coexist with GRUB.
3. Manjaro I think use Official Manaro repository which is based on Pacman.
Out of this Majaro Gnome is the best but it does not have Stacer, for my liking.
That is the only Arch I would use.
