Drug Peddling and Politics of it
I would be very brief.
As a medical man, I can detect a guy on drugs in a matter of minutes.
Next moment (not in Ceylon), I would inform the police and I have helped a the Police to round up a big gang.
Within six (6) weeks left that country, knowing very well I become an easy target for recrimination.
In Ceylon, when I did some home work why university students perform poorly in studies, I discovered are they lured into drugs. I even found the route they bring them, along with lunch packets (this is Peradeniya, I do not know about other Universities).
I informed the authorities and they did nothing to stop fearing backlash form politicians. It not only student unions but whole university system is politicized.
This was not so in our time.
Politicians in power and opposition without exception are involved in these game.
There is a Triad that operate from Thailand( I do not know the city, I will never tour Thailand), Mumbai and Colombo / Trinco.
I do not know about Myanmar and I believe the Army is involved in it.
This is link to the tourist industry.
Some of these guys operate TV stations in Ceylon.
That is how the black money becomes white.
LTTE and its diaspora was involved in this game.
After the war ended some of our politicians were involved with the help of the Government in Power.
This true in India and famous Indian actors and some who went from Ceylon were and are involved.
We get pleasure by electing them to the parliament.
I nave no interest in this filed since I have not been able to stop a single one from Alcohol or smoking. I have contributed one death, by prescribing a drug that caused a bloody death (not knowing the guy was an alcoholic).
I gave up Medicine since a guy was prosecuted at the age of 81 in a foreign land missing a case of (25-30 years of latency) impending cancer.
This is my field of expertise.
I always had a big reservation for the judicial system and thank god I never considered entering it.
Most of our politicians too, are lawyers including the 20 guys who were evicted from the University in mt time due to irregularities.
