Thank YOU PCLinuxOS - KDE 6.7- The Best Available KDE

I just installed PCLinuxOS under 10 minutes.

After 48 hours of Trsting, I am going to ditch PCLinuxOS from my Laptop.

The problems are not specifically related to PCLinuxOS but to KDE base and SystemV.

I am going to erase it with Bodhi Linux on this Poson Poya day.I think it is XFCE with Synaptic Package Manager. I can add GNOME on top of it.

SystemV is avpain in my Arxxx.

Old News below.

In fact, it took 6 minutes  to configure my Long GRUB with 20 partitions. I had ARCH Ultimate Linux Gamer on this partition and I installed year old Ultimate XFCE on it

It did not have a Package Manager.

After few Soul Searching, I decided for PCLinuxOS KDE

It has XFCE image, too.

Downloaded and writing on  USB took a little time.
Since, after the Poson Poya of CEYLON, I am going to stop Testing Linux, which I have declared the Year of Linux, 2026.
I tested POP OS and it was hopeless.
I tried Tuxedo OS almost the same.
Both of them have firmware for their own hardware and not for generic.
Except for BlueStar Linux I am loggerheads with KDE.
PCLinuxOS after downloading firmware smoothly, installed the system.
WiFi configuration is brief.
I tried configuring WiFi with BSD 15.1 and failed miserably.
Installation is fabulously fast.
GRUB is pretty good.
It has LibreOffice suit and the basic stuff.
It has my favourite Dolphin File manager.
It has EasyFlatpak.
I did not try installing software.
I want ti sleep now.
It is almost half past 2 in the morning.
I woke up at six and updated the system and installed AbiWord.
Most of the Gnome stuff is missing but I am on the Best KDE available and it is little past half past six.
Thank You to all developer guys and girls of PCLinuxOS.
It is a fabulous KDE desktop.

Failed installation with my old PC.
It could not overwrite the GRUB written by BIG Linux even though, PCLinuxOS was installed on the partition I selected. It took 13 minutes to install. 7 minutes were spent on scanning the GRUB but it could not overwrite.
Well I used the Gparted to format the EFI partition which I rarely do expecting PC Linux to identity all other distributions.
If it fails in this Test, well that is the grouse I have with KDE Desktop. It is past 8AM and rainiing in Australia.
It could not configure Time Zone and is FROZEN to New York time.
It has some problems but I am going to keep it and restore my GRUB by other means.
Overall, it is a good distribution.
Installation is faster than ARCH derivatives but no WiFi configuration and UPDATES on the go.
This is Poson Poya day in and in my case no panic but perseverance.
GRUB failed and I have more work on POYA day.
By the way, it is based on old SystemV init and above problems are probably related to that fact.
Any way, I am glad I Tested on my old Laptop which i haven't done before in 2018.

I think I started with Mandrake and then settled down on PCLinuxOS. When Mandrake had legal problems, I probably ditched PCLinuxOS and settled down on Peppermint Linux which I ditched subsequently to Debian GNOME which is my working distribution unhindered by market changes.
Well I got PCLinuxOS ruuning in my Laptop now. One has UPDATE 303 Packages. Mostly removing redundant ones.
24.2GB renaining from 38.4GB partition after UPDATES.
