Kandy City in the Serendib

 Kandy City in the Serendib

Clockwork precision is something lacking in this country in workman's skills as well as in time management.

I leaned it from my father and the colleague principal who taught me the basics of it and the value of it which I perfected it in the Western World.

In the Labour Era (not the current one that ended recently) which ended with Mr. Arther Scargill, Mr. Tony Ben, Mr.Ken Livingston and many other names that I forget workers were well organized and down to earth and work to precision in
London and suburbs (with the inflow foreign migrants including from Eastern Block), this tradition of working according to clock and round the clock has slowly and surely disappeared, with conservative's sweeping role of market reforms and greed instead of welfare society, eroded to an extent that my decision to come back home was better option, than of becoming a Senior Citizen there shivering in cold winter expecting the summer to be sooner than late.

The British labour force maintained the British economy vibrant.

It is no better here for Senior Citizens except for politicians with clout.

The time and time management was ingrained in the minds of workers then.

Then came the goals, finishing targets and profits that ended up in stock market crisis.

Strangely now, Americans are talking about social welfare and they cannot achieve the targets of their choice in time frame before the elderly eventually succumbs to ill fate.

What I am writing is not about the time management mentioned above but about the clock itself.

That itself is not the grandfather clock but the tiny digital wrist watch of mine which I used for the the last 16 years.

Before that I must write a few of the stupidest things I have done.

The things I did before going abroad was more ridiculous.

Whenever, I go abroad the first thing I used to do is to buy the most expensive wrist watch I could afford somewhat like a status symbol (I once lost one of them but was able to claim insurance-that was the only time I had claimed insurance in spite of heavy premiums I paid) and when I leave again buy something bit expensive.

This has become a liability when I come home.

I used to hire a taxi from Kandy to Colombo for Rupees 600 those days and I had several favorite and good drivers to take me all round the country (I was true tourist not the stingy white skinned ones that come here for boys now) and when ever I leave the drivers ask me,

"Sir, Mata Oya Wage Orolosuwak Denna Barida

Sir Can you give me a wristwatch like what you wear".

One fine day I was in a good mood I gave it to the driver and told him it is expensive and take care.

This is the guy who used to take a famous films star around the country and he never got any presents for the film star guys.

He was happy and I was bit unhappy, to tell you the truth but overcame that attachment in good time.

When I came the next time he was very unhappy, the reason being his lodging was ransacked within a few months and he lost most of the valuables including the wrist watch I gave him.

This incident changed my outlook completely and from then onward I used to buy the most inexpensive (sometimes children's ones) for daily use and disposed all my other comparatively expensive wrist watches to whoever who had some liking for them (mostly relatives).

This change (buying the cheapest and not looking at it) was consolidated when Ms.Chandrika was the President and her clock work activity was in direct competition to that of mine for 11 years.

The story about my clock is very simple.

One of my cheap (not the cheapest - I had brought from abroad) watches stopped working.

I went to a watchmaker in Kandy who was very good and showed him the watch.

He looked at it and said nothing can be done.

I walked in, to buy a new one and he called me back and said he can put a circuit for Rupees 240.

I asked him how long will it last and does it keep the time correct.

Ten years without a problem and it is Korean one he said.

I obliged and it was working for the last 16 years except for the brief period of one month.

I was busy and yesterday I went to another shop to change the battery.

The inexperienced girl there checked the battery and said it is OK but the circuit was faulty.

I could not believe it.

I asked her to check it with a new battery.

Result was the same.

She fiddled with the contact points then called an older lady to help and she fiddled with it some more and put some anti-corrosion oil and said, nothing doing.

After all this I told them for 16 years this worked all right and I paid only rupees 240 and I cannot find my favorite watchmaker and I left saying that my eyesight is weak, otherwise I would have found what was wrong.

All in all I now made my own diagnosis.
It is mechanical and nothing but.
I came home late and I left the watch on the drawer but only after a little fiddling and thinking that I would attend to it sometime later.

So, I did find the time and fiddled with it and it is working now perfectly.

This how Ceylonese operates.

Either the workman / work woman was / were not properly trained or they were trained to cheat.

I will not pass the judgment on this issue but only state that honesty has no place in this country.

The man who ran the shop with the honest watchmaker vanished within five years. The owner raised the rental and I never so him after that not even in the pavement.

This is the status of life in this Kandy City in the Serendib.

I am almost in my retirement I want the clock to stop lest I get older than now
.

Fast forward, I am in Australia and I bought two  semi digital wrist watches for Rs.1600/= each and gave one to our domestic aid who sometimes comes late (she is a very busy woman).

She passed way recently due to lack of medicine in Ceylon.

I made sure the family got some cashew nut treat.

She was very good cooking jack fruit, bread fruit and Kiri Ala (Innala).

Leave Flowers Where They are

 Flowers

Why Worship with Flower?

In evolution, plants with flowers were recent.

They had a reason for existence.

Propagation of the species with added tolerance to extinction under adverse conditions was the purpose.

Flowers tend to bloom seasonally when there is scarcity of water.

Fruits are formed to take the next generation of seeds.

Nuts are often bitter, so that animals do not eat them.
If they eat them they are not digested in the digestive system.
They make the flesh of the fruits attractive so that they eat and spread the seeds far away from their origin.

Fact that they are edible should not be taken as a license to store them in cold storage.

If one destroys a flower he/she in fact upset the balance of nature.

Buddhist offer the flowers at the shrines of Buddha, to remind themselves of the unsatisfactory and transient nature of life.

They recite a Gatha as they do that.

Actually plucking of water lillie flowers, make the plant to go into hibernation and often end up with death of the mother plant.

That is my discovery.

My bone of contention is even if they are not producing fruits, say jasmine they attract a plethora of insects who live on the pollens and nectar.

Not only we destroy the flowers we destroy the insect life, too.

Buddhist who say “Let all living beings be happy and content” are violating one principle while acquiring merits on Anitta Meditation while offering flowers at the temple.

One can argue that merits acquired with offering flowers are devalued by demerits of interfering with insect life.

Why not remind oneself of Annita every time one sees a flower.

Why one has to pluck them?

Attachment to the flower is as bad, in Buddhist way of thinking.

Why pick fresh flowers?

One can easily choose the fallen flowers, instead.

Which show their demise glaringly and epitomize the principle of Anitta, much better.

There is a paradox here.

If one sees a beautiful flower and set in motion Anitta principle, instead of enjoying the very nature of natural beauty, to me it is sadistic.

Let them blossom in the place they have chosen for themselves.

Enjoy the beauty.

Don't be a sadist or a lovebird, unless you have cared them yourself.

If you cared for them, it is hard to pick them or destroy them, even if they are in the plenty.

Adore them but do not treat them like plastic toys.

They are living creatures and there is a purpose of their existence.

I do not mind a little girl wearing them on their hair to enhance their natural beauty.

But teach them the nature's secrets while fixing one or two flowers on the head or hair band in the hairdo.

Tell them a plastic flower lasts long.

Do not tell them the Anitta Concept too early and make them sadistic in formative years.

This is where I come in conflict with Buddhist notions.

Why only animals are sacred.

Evolutionary-wise plants are more sacred, since they support all life including animals.

This is why I say Buddhism does not teach science, especially biological science in its core themes.

This might upset some mafiosi Buddhists but it is not as bad as Victor Ivan stating kill all the cows when they are at the end of the milking cycle, old and feeble, for beef.

Take him to task if a Buddhist gets agitated by my above comments.

It is far better extend some Metta to Me and My Flowers.

That will make you feel better.

It feels much better if you have few flowers in your garden.

This April I had five exotic flowers.

It put my April joy at a high level, all together.

Cat out of the Bag-Catholic Action Live

Cat out of the Bag-Catholic Action Live

I think Cardinal Coory should be appointed as the Upper Chamber Chairman.

Before the new constitution we had Lower Chamber elected and the Upper Chamber appointed by the parliament.

The way things are happening we must create a Interim Upper Chamber and appoint Cardinal as the Chief.

I think without him advising the NPP/JVP, we cannot progress in Ceylon.

It is obvious they are impotent in governing this country without the Cardinal.

Cardinal Cooray is in full charge of the police.

How I see this is, it is pretty obvious  "Catholic Action" in Full Swing.

1. Catholic Action was in situ from the independence.

It was Sirimavo who took some action to nullify their influence.

Then came S.W.R.D. with Sanga, Veda, Guru, Govi and Kamkaru, the Five Forces.

It ended up,  killing S.W.R.D.
2. In 1962 .JR.J. also had a go with the help of the Church.
Ozie Corea was the guy who killed S.W.R.D.

3. Now under Anura the Third Attempt is in full swing under the pretext of Easter Sunday Bombing.

In my analysis Easter Sunday Bombing was also a staged program of the Catholic Church.
Catholic churches were not attacked but other denomination churches were the Target.
I may be wrong in this assessment.
I am quoting some YouTube interpretation.

Anura is caught in the trap and those who are accused (police authorities) are conducting the final prosecution.
That is Ravi and Shani double.

Now one should analyze Nisantha Jayawardena case with this background in mind.
I have no respect for our police due to many personal experiences but this Nisantha Jayawardena is good guy with talent.

He may be having lot of other facts about Church involvement in Aragalya to remove Gotabaya.

He should removed before more information could filter into the public domain including homosexual affairs of the Church.
Plan is to remove him and let Ravi and Shani cook up a New Story.

There are 20 odd guys listed in the Parliamentary Committee investigation.
This is the very reason part of the report is not made public citing security concerns.

The damage is already gone what security concern is left?
Hidden part will expose cardinal and other guys involved in Aragalaya.

Besides, the involvement of Anura and his clan in inciting Aragalaya with the help Subashwaran Allirajah (Ranjan Rmanayake) needs to be made public.
This government came into power with backdoor deals to which the Catholic Church was directly involved.

It is a criminal sending a good police officer to oblivion.
We must get rid of Ravi and Shani.

Full Report should be released for public consumption.

These things happen only in CEYLON.

"Meva Venne Lankawe Vithrarsi Ane".

If Sunil Aiyah (popular singer Sunil Perera) was alive he would have come up with a good song.

I am not good at making lyrics.

But I will have a go.

It should go like this.

"Cardinal Thuma Natuwa Meva Venne Ne, Meva Venne Ne"

"Cardinal Thuma Natuwa Meva Venne Ne, Meva Venne Ne"  that is the chorus.

Edited as per comments from my friends.

"Mun Apita Pukxx Arinna Hadanne"

These guys are confirmed homosexuals.

They include Ranil Wickramasinghe and Mangala Samaraweera.

My Guess is NPP/JVP guys are confirmed homosexuals.
Haruni is a living example.

"Bola Deka Galavana Eka Thamai Honda".

Orchidectemy is the medical term.

Bath Tika Edenakan
Thamai Upi
Beheth Tika Enekan
Thami Upi

Nata Nata Enne
Nata Nata Enne

Please edit this and I only use J.V.P. traditional words which I was hesitant to use in the past. Now they are in power and I am away from Ceylon;
I am using "Five Freedoms" of American Constitution, to good effect.

"Ake Puriya Rita Maduna", was a term I learned in a city school.

Medical Crisis in Ceylon

Yes, there is a big Medical Crisis in Ceylon which is mismanaged by the current NPP/JVP Government.

I think my friend Rajitha Senaratne did a good service at a affordable price when he was  the Health Minister. He had the political acumen and I am sad to see he is no longer in the parliament.
I am pretty sure if this government try to prosecute him he will win easily at the level of the judiciary. Problem is the cost of the lawyers.
He would have been better off had he being a lawyer.
I do not know whether a dental guy can become a lawyer. I know one dental student became a lawyer. He was doing law before entering the Dental Faculty and he did not complete his dental career.

Rajitha is a dental guy and he was prosecuted only in a procument of dental materials and not any drugs.
I think he paid the fine. One cannot be prosecuted twice on the same offense.
It is long time ago and I cannot remeber the details. I did not ask him any direct questions.
I have not met him for over 40 years but I followed his political career. His son is no match to him and I think he (son) is a political liability.

I wish him political luck in the future.
He is a guy who should be in the parliament until he decides to retire.

This piece is about health crisis.

1. There is acute shortage of drugs in hospitals. Our domestic aid died recently due to lack of medicine in both government and private dispensaries.

2. There is acute shortge of vaccines. What is available has expired and is the cheap Indian stuff.

3. Some hospitals have outstanding electricity bills.
This has direct effect on process of sterilization.

4. This is true of the water bills.
In my analysis health is proportional to the amount of water that is consumed.

5. Disposable gloves are in short supply. Doing a postmortem is a big liability.

6. Incineration facilities are not available.
Even incineration at the cemetery one has to pay a big sum.

7. Disposable syringes are expensive and not available at both public and private sector.
One has to buy them even in private hospitals.

8. Catheters for kidneys patients are in short supply.

9. Worse part is most of the qualified doctors are leaving Ceylon at the first opportunity.

10. Ceylon was a country which WHO took as a model country.

11. Under trying conditions Gotabaya managed the coronavirus admirably.
These guys cannot match a dust partcle in his feet.

I think Gotabaya is entitled for a sarcastic smile looking at how NPP/JVP guys perform in health sector while in power.

12. The crisis in Health is enough to bring this Government in the next election.

People do not expect free meal but they prefer Free Education and Free Health.

13. This a good opportunity for IMF to cut our Health and Education budget further.
Please wait till the next tranch and see how much is allocated to health.
I guess less than the total digitalization of citizens of Ceylon by a totally Indian company.

Government has got it's priorities right.
Digitalization is first and health of people is the last.

Easter Sunday Conspiracy

Who should be prosecuted for inability prevent this catastrophe of Easter Bombing.
1. Ravi Seneviratne
2. Shani Abeysekara
3. Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith
4. Anura Dissanayake
5. Maithripala Sirisena
He was in Singapore eating Appa
He was more interested in his son's wedding
He is anyway Appa man in 2015.
6. Ranil Wickramasinghe the CIA double agent
7. Harin Fernando
Even his father in Navaloka Hospital new this conspiracy
8. Hemasiri Fernando
He was really inactive as government officer.
9. Sisira Mendis
10. Nilantha Jayawardena
He actually provided the information to prevent the sordid eposode.
Cardinal wants him imprisoned and him shut down so the real operatives will be not expoxed.
This is a big project of Catholic Action.
11. M.R.Latif
12. Pujitha Jayasundara
13. Nandana Munasinghe
14. Deshabandu Tennakoon
15. Sanjeewa Bandara
16. Chandana Athukorala
17. B.E.I. Prassanna
18. B.H.S.Sisila Kumara
19. R. M. Sarath Kumarasinghe
20. M. Sagara Wilgodage Liyanage
21. Chaminda Navaratne
22. Lalith Sheltan Pathinayake
23. Kosala Chaminda

Making the one who investigated and exposed the tragedy shut down is the Catholic Church's objective.
They used to do that secretly in 1962 and now they are empowered and doing it on broad day light.
" Cardinal, ane Kathai Maie Vade".

Dollar is Sliding

While European currencies are remaining stable Dollar is sliding.
I EU = 1.16 Dollar
One year ago
1EU = .97 Dollar
Interest rate may go up as per money spent on Israel War.
With oil price hike due to slow replenishment of stocks food prices are bound to go up.
This changes are seen very well in CEYLON.
