I do not recommend AVL Me for a Laptop.
Many reasons.
Don't ask me how I did it.
It took 6 to 7 attempts (honestly, I did not count but 5 was certain) to get it to my require specifications.
I won't recommend it to a newbie since I had to struggle and did not know how MX Linux configure. UPDATES did not work.
I know guys in New Zealand Server block everything and Kernel is old.
This one of the many reasons I hate New Zealand. They are a paranoid lot from Old IRELAND from the Potato Famine. I worked there for 2 years from 1992 to 1994. However, my daughter loves New Zealand and they had a holiday there. Told me things are much expensive than in Australia. I know with ACC scheme lot of scams and Lazy Guys.

Audacity and many Audio apps were already there.
VLC missing
Torrent Transmutation missing but Deluge was there.
Browsers except for Firefox, I do not bother.
AbiWord with missing Libs
GIMP missing
Blender available
Enlightenment Desktop is about 412MB.
Total installed space 11GB plus from 21GB /root partition
10 GB left for me to add.
RAM use minimal with 625 out of 7GB
GNOME Desktop
About 500MB but total over 1200MB (did not count accurately) and most of is taken over by LibreOffice.
RAM may be 1.5GB.
KDE old Desktop
May be 3000MB.
RAM over 4GB.
This is why I HATE KDE.
I installed it to prove my point.
As a practising Buddhist that is why I have use Moksha Linux installed in my NUC and Laptop.
Not Too Little as a saint or a Meditator.
My book on "Meditation Enterprise" is in final stages to coincide with Poson Poya.
Not too much with KDE.
Middle ground and in moderation GNOME with Wayland on top of AVL Me fits the job for me. Only one cup of tea and the next at 9AM with some bread.
