Infinity of Mind

Infinity of Mind

Space,Travel, Infinity of Mind

This piece is bizarre and has no earthly bound limitations.

In fact, beyond the limitation of physics.

This discussion is not limited by space and gravity.

This is to bring out the concept of Rebirth in relative and comparative terms.

Kamma is its associate, the other side of the coin.

There is a Mongolian belief that dogs have many lives beyond one single life. They also carry forward memories of their past lives and are born again as dogs.

There is a good film “Purpose of Dogs”.

I disagree here and my "born/bone of contest" is that, most dogs are born as celestial beings (Buddhist terminology of Godly beings) or gods. They easily bypass the mundane human life having lived with them long enough to understand how nasty a human being can be. Biden, Putin and Zelensky and there followers are good examples that dogs have studied, on their own ways.

Killing opposing beings and War is there way of life.

Eating flesh of any kind are their liberal form of life.

They have their own form of gods and sects and the priests walk with the soldiers to kill the fellow humans. The Pope in his part keeps numb about War crimes of Israelite. Quote some disagreement in textural scripts of Vatican to purist theologies of other sects.

Mongolians follow a form of Buddhism that gives credence to rebirth and meditation. It is bit different from Tibetan Buddhism in which the term reincarnation has a special meaning and they all try to become Buddhas.

It is bit far fetched and farcical attempt. Really, antagonistic to simple Buddhism where Kamma and Rebirth explains the outcomes. The goal  of "casting away" of rebirth can be done by less vigorous means.

Becoming an Arhanth is the goal not another or somebody like Buddha (PaseBuddha).

Rebirth cannot be proved but it cannot be denied.

That is my premise here.

There is a Western myth that Buddhism is a philosophy. I dispense the philosophical connotation outright, to begin with.

In the East, no philosophy has any roots simply because of Hindu belief in creator gods of many kinds. Buddhism is not a religion, in the sense of the Western and Middle Eastern beliefs where by following the Gospel of a mythical god one can redeem oneself and achieve salvation in, single life form.

Eternal damnation to hell is unethical on human terms.

Buddhism is a way of life but that way of life is little bit difficult and advanced.

One reaps the benefit of Good and Bad Kamma. How it turns out one cannot predict in advance. Recurrence of Karma Pala and Rebirth are automatic in nature.

It is like a wheel roiling down or rolling upwards with effort.

Action and reaction.

Equal and opposite reaction in physics.

One cannot escape and the rounds of births are there eternally to salvage good and bad without counsel of gods or elders supervising the outcome.

Buddhism starts with not killing any life including animal life.

It has four simple rules.

Indulgence in alcohol is not in that four and I believe it was added much later into the system.

The Arhants have only 10 very simple precepts.

Eating one main meal a day is one of them.

Vegetarianism is a simple byproduct.

I need to make some reference to Harry Potter series of films to begin with. The films are Creative and Imaginative but not Inspiring.

I never read any of these fictional books being a man of science.

Being an old time paediatrician that ended up as a gaeriatrician in later life, bringing fear and phobias to kids' mind is no good at all. Some bordering paranoia and may cause depression in them. I strongly oppose killing opposing imaginative creatures and witches.

I do not want to be born like any of those imaginative beings.

Sometime, I think the authors of these type of  books, in their previous life form were born as a demons to relive them in this life.

I do not mind Harry Potter author, living with these miseries in this life but exposing them to young kids is pathological.

I have no objection adults reading them and becoming killers themselves in War of attrition.

Coming back to Title of this piece;

We are one gravity beings with somewhat limited capacity. We cannot live on the moon with less gravity than on the earth. We cannot live on Mars with more than on earth.

No gravity is anathema to all human physiology.

I see that, it is difficult to land on Mars. But forming colonies there is a another kettle of fish.

We need to design new form of transport which alien beings possess.

Aliens are no Gods but some type of advanced humanoids.

The space vehicles are most likely driven by radiation obtained from elements above 112. Elements above 110 are possible in some galaxies.

Now coming to Mind itself.

I have two books on mind one simple and one advanced at Amazon Book Store.

What follows here is a brief resume!

1. Mind is the best vehicle to travel the Universe.

2. Mind is a mystery.

3. With some meditation techniques one can achieve momentary state of  escape from the brain.

However, the mind's attachment to brain is very strong and this escape mode is an illusion.

This is one reason (out of many), I oppose many forms of meditation.

Live this life in wakeful state.

Be mindful of every moment of life.

Be happy (Somanassa Chitta).

4. According to Buddhism there are 30 types of celestial beings who live in almost eternal bliss.

5. They have achieved them through vigorous form of meditation and become strongly bonded to these live forms and they believe that these state/s is/are eternal.

It is a form of delusion worse than living on psychoactive drugs. Psychoactive drugs have a limited time span unlike living as a high celestial being.

6. All are temporary states of bliss.

7. That brings us to the "Uncertainty Principle".

8. That is the entry point to Dhamma.

I leave it at that point.

"Somanassa Chitta' without attachment is the base to real bliss.

There are 3 other components.

Ebony and Ivory

Live Together
In Perfect Harmony
Side By Side On My Piano Keyboard,
Oh Lord, Why Don't We?
We All Know
That People Are The Same
Where Ever You Go
There Is Good and Bad
In Everyone,
We Learn To Live,
We Learn To Give

"Ebony and Ivory" was banned for a while in South Africa during the Apartheid era.

In the early 19th century mammoth ivory was used, as substantial source, for such products as piano keys, billiard balls, and ornamental boxes.

One thing that Paul forgot to mention was that the piano keys were made of ivory.
I make that record here, even belatedly (he is alive and kicking well unlike the dead elephants).
Paul McCartney is the writer and Stevie Wonder the other of the duet.

This song hit the chart in 1982 and I was in England.
I was neither black nor white but a browny (not a brown Sahib) and was feeling the pinch.

All the jobs I did  up to that point were the ones white man did not want to work.
One place had the highest maternal death and another place had highest neonatal death in UK.

All the same, I worked for humanity and mostly neonates.
Worked hard to improve the lot including newly established wings and hospitals and planning for new ones in Dartford.
I was focused when British doctors were either half drunk or fully drunk and one social worker was killing destitutes to get their social benefits illegally and there was a mad GP and mad nurse murdering N.H.S. patients and babies.
All three were in prison, one committed suicide in the cell.
Then the last case was  a little girl who was seduced by the father who was a policemen.
I had enough and left UK for good never to return.
These people who are agents of human rights, look straight into the mirror and see who is more innocent.
I abhor violence and killing even in war.
But I abhor killing innocent animals, more

SSD Disks and Swap Partitions

SSD Disks and Swap Partitions

This is a reproduction about SSD Disks

Flash RAM cells in SSDs have a limited lifespan.
Every write (but not read) cycle (or more accurately every erasure) wears a memory cell, and at some point it will stop working.
The amount of erase cycles a cell can survive is highly variable, and flash from modern SSDs will survive many more than flash from SSDs made several years ago.
Additionally, the SSD intelligent firmware will ensure evenly distributed erasures between all the cells. In most drives, unused areas will also be available to backup damaged cells and to delay aging.
To have a value we can use to compare the endurance of a SSD, we can use lifespan measures such as the JEDEC published standards. A widely available value for endurance is TBW (TeraBytes Written, or alternatively total bytes written) which is the amount of bytes writable before the drive fails. Modern SSDs can score as low as 20 TB for a consumer product but can score over 20,000 TB in an enterprise-level SSD.

Having said that, both the lifespan and the use of a SSD for swapping depends on several factors.

Systems with plenty of RAM
On a system with plenty of RAM and few memory consuming applications we will almost never swap. It is merely a safety measure to prevent data loss in case an application ate up all our RAM. In this case, the wearing of a SSD from swapping will not be an issue. However, having this mostly-unused swap partition on a conventional hard drive will not lead to any performance drop, so we can safely put our swap partition (or file) on that significantly cheaper hard drive and use the space on our SSD for something more useful.

Systems with little RAM
Things are different on a system where RAM is sparse and cannot be upgraded. In this case, swapping may indeed occur more often, especially when we run memory-intensive applications. In these systems, a swap partition or file on a SSD may lead to a dramatic performance improvement at the cost of a somewhat shorter SSD lifespan. This decreased lifespan may, however, still not be short enough to warrant concern. In all likelihood, the SSD may be replaced long before it would've died because several times the storage may be available at a fraction of today's prices.

Hibernating our system
Waking from hibernation is indeed very fast from a SSD. If we're lucky and our system survives a hibernation without issues, we can consider using an SSD for that. It will wear the SSD more than just booting from it would, but we may feel it's worth it.
But booting from an SSD may not take much longer than waking from hibernation from an SSD, and it will wear the SSD far less.
Personally, I don't hibernate my system at all - I suspend to RAM or quickly boot from my SSD.

The SSD is the only drive we have
We don't really have a choice in this case. We don't want to run without a swap, so we have to put it on the SSD. We may, however, want to have a smaller swap file or partition if we don't plan to hibernate our system at any point.

Note on speed
SSDs are best at quickly accessing and reading many small files and are superior to conventional hard drives for transferring data from sequentially-read small or medium-sized files. A fast conventional hard drive may still perform better than an SSD at writing (and to a lesser extent reading) large audio or video streams or other long unfragmented files.
Older SSDs may have their performance decline over time or after they are fairly full.

My Analysis of Metta

My Analysis of Metta
Loving Kindness

We had a little gathering.

The reason being we pulled out a few wine bottles (bought few years ago with old prices) off VAT from the attic.

Why pull out the old?

Yes we got a few replacements from abroad “Duty Free”.

They will go to the attic till another replacement comes by our way.

About the prices one reflection would suffice.

Good old days we could buy a good “Thambili Wine” (small bottle) for Rs.275/=.

You know the current prices, one pays Rs. 200/= (half a peg or 50 grams) and they do not dish out less than 150 grams nowadays (Rs.600/= in total).
When two pegs went up to Rs.420/= abruptly under Magala Smaraweera
.

I stopped drinking completely.

By the way VAT added.

We had many good ideas but I would pen only one.

What good we achieved during the last 20 years?

I thought that was a good one because that was the period S.L.F.P. (minus two years) was in power.

We went round the table.
Answer went like.
None.
None.
None.................

And finally it got to me.

I had to do the closing comment.

I said minus.

Why was the question?

I was in UK and New Zealand 20 odd years ago.

I did not have hate problem.

I did not have a nationality problem

I was a "Worldly Being".

I had peace in my mind.

The family was happy.

I came to this blessed country to serve.

What did I get.

War
War and more War.

Why do you say minus (Question again)?

Their hate is inbuilt in me Now.

I have to go into "Metta Mode" every time I see a politician on the TV especially the “Wira Wansa” and “Gon (Hol) Man” Pilla type.

The “Metta” was innate in me twenty years ago and after 20 years of S.L.F.P.

I have to remind myself that there is something called Metta.

But every time I see the President (he is half Metta and half political Hate=Neutral).
I cannot say that with Prime Minister.
He is never with the better half or the “Maithree”. I think he should come out with her once in away to show he has bit of Metta in him.

Worse part is the guys and girls with all HATE and No Metta is in power in the name of NPP/JVP.

There only Target is how many they can sent to prison.

In my opinion, if we have a proper Law and Order in Ceylon all JVP and NPP guys should be in Prison.

I was third in their murder list in 1988/89.

I do not hate them but I left the country one year before they came to power, just to avoid persecution for nothing wrong I have done in my life.

I am a Buddhist by conviction and very Mindful with Insight into an evolving problem (Hate Philosophy of JVP).

Reverend Anada Maithriya is no more but I follow his advice.
Just avoid them and leave the country, he advised me twice, before.

This is the third time I left Ceylon and I won't return home in this life.

But Mind you, I sent some pounds  home regularly to keep my current account running. Theoretically, with this government in Power I should stop sending money home.

The moment, if they take any undemocratic action, I would stop sending money to Ceylon.

Cardinal Cooray is the current Engine of HATE in Ceylon.
He is using NPP/JVP machinery
I do not think God would Bless him.

Let Go Principle of Dhamma

Let Go Principle of Dhamma

The “Let Go” principle according to the nature of events unfolding is not something discussed in depth in the West.

I make following prepositions.

None may be correct, some may be correct, certainly, not all of them are correct.

1. Mind inhabits the brain when suitable but exists it when impossible for functioning. Body and Mind in a comforting cave of existence.

2. Mind does not become extinct at death.

3. It automatically and instantly grabs another living body and brain by default.

4. The transition period is ill understood as seen in “Near Death Syndrome”.

There is no inter-phase or Untar-Bhava or elderly wise men helping the soul. The transition is quick and automatic without an intervening phase. It is like the transmission of an electron through a transistor gate. The mind enters the transistor portal and goes into the next “Bhava of Existence” instantaneously and it is one way ticket and no coming back.

The mind floating in space and looking for a place of rebirth of choice with wise men helping in, is not at all plausible. The wise men have no right to intervene except masterly inactivity.

Imagine how all the souls waiting for a rebirth point of entry and thus keep floating in space.

There will be War or Clash of Souls.

I hope you got the point, I am driving at.

Each soul has his or her own pathway of transition not even so called God can intervene.

5. It either grabs the current body of existence (at least temporarily) with doctors’ help (resuscitation) or has no choice but to exit and enter its own individual path.

6. Mind can exist outside the body.

7. Body can exist without a mind.

EBENs of extraterrestrial origin, comes to my mind.

EBENs do not have a soul or self but are biological robots. This is where the bio-engineering would create biological entities / agents that can reproduce identical biological robots.

The presumption here is that without a previous existence of the mind,  a “new soul” cannot be created de novo.

8. Highest level of mind’s existence is its detachment from the entanglement with the body (current or future existence) or Nirvana in Buddhist Terminology.

9. There have to be many minds of existences and there cannot be a “Unity of Mind” (as a God or super agent of creation).

10. All of the above is not true.

11. Some are plausible and some are not.
