World with many Views but Mind Neglected
Intention
There is an attempt to use meaning of Dhamma for political needs (Constitution) in Ceylon.
This is in perspective of an apprentice meditator in mind.
Advanced meditator won't get involved in academic exercises.
However, I need to get the core idea across and work on purifying the Mind (not get involved in phenomenology or the mechanics).
Dhamma
The word Dhamma in perspective of an apprentice in meditation found wanting.
It needs total detachment of academic exercise.
In that sense some qualifying tenets are attempted.
Dhamma has no parallels in philosophy, politics or science.
It is boundless and timeless and permeate all human mental activity.
It is not an institution in a religious sense.
It does not belong to a particular country or race or a constitution or an individual.
It belongs to the human mental capacity untapped.
Having said that it does not disregard existence of the right of other living beings.
It accepts the presence of extraterrestrial beings of higher or lower order to human beings.
It is a way of life with special attention to mental purity (getting rid of defilements).
It has a very simple moral code of self realization even though, self as an all abiding entity is precluded.
It has no rigid rules and bylaws but focuses on attention depending on the individuals intelligent capacity.
Above all it is open to Question or Inquiry (but not at global sense) but at Individual Level while working through the mental cultivation of purity of thinking.
That is why it should not be taken as religious practice but as a simple way of 'life experience' for every individual with an iota of intelligence.
However, It does not exclude the mentally weak and that is why it emphasizes the “Sardha” or the Devotion and reverence to the exalted one for absorbing the core mental culture.
If all all the above qualifications are taken into consideration, it should be "Above of All the World Constitutions" and not within a structured articles of intent, (be that it may be United States or Ceylon).
Constitution
Constitution in brief is a piece of paper article to govern weak subjects by supposed to be powerful and the elite by coercion or rigidity of laws and bylaws.
It took almost 2500 years for the Human Rights Charter to be declared (only on paper but violated left, right and center depending on the declared sovereignty of a state or government).
We cannot do without a constitution even though few countries have no written constitution.
It is the political will of a set or group or collection of people.
It got to be simple to interpret.
It should have a practical value.
It should have the political will to harness harmony and disengage discrimination.
On all the above grounds it cannot be called a perfect article of faith.
It is a near enough document but since it is not perfect it should be scrutinized, restructured, revised on a regular basis.
Dhamma does not need any of the above revisions and that is why it should be kept above all constitutions.
That is a point of view.
By putting Dhamma on paper called constitution won’t achieve any objective, except some a cosmetic value.
The above said won’t apply to Christianity and Muslim religions since they are invariably bound by power, politics, commerce, money and may be even conspiracies to cover up corruption.
In exalted ones and the ones who are on the path of Dhamma are completely detached from power, money and corruptions, conspiracies of all kinds.
Dhamma is for the Mind and not for an Institution.
That is why Buddha did not appoint a successor and let the boundless Dhamma takes it own course.
It does not mean Dhamma could survive on its own since there is always room for distortion within and from without.
That is the very reason these thoughts are penned down here to save its status of universality.
Dhamma is boundless and timeless.
It permeates all reams and universes (There is no one world but many worlds).
Four abodes of the enlightenment or the sublime states are;
Metta (Loving Kindness)
Karuna (Kindness)
Muditha (Sympathetic Joy)
Upekka (Equanimity)
Way forward is Meditation either;
Samatha Bhavana-Concentration or Focused Attention to the Present
Samatha Bhavana, the development of mental tranquility with concentration, is accompanied by three benefits; it gives happiness in the present life, a favorable rebirth, and the freedom from mental defilements which is a prerequisite for attainment of insight.
Vipassana Bhavana-Insight Meditation
Vipassana bhavana is realization of the three signs of being, anicca, dukkha, and anatta,
The focus of attention be given to Metta Meditation and Moment Meditation, too.

How to to Destroy Buddhism

How to to Destroy Buddhism
Yes, there is a Sinister Political Program to Destroy Buddhism.
It was spearheaded by the Catholic Church in the past.
This all started somewhere around 1962.
It was named "Catholic Action", then.
There was a hidden rule that determined that nobody gets a job unless he or she was a Catholic.
This theme has come back to haunt us (Ceylon) again.
It was late L.H. Mettananda who brought forward the case for Buddhism in Ceylon. He was Principle of Nalanda College, Dharmaraja College and Ananda College.
All these schools including Mahinda College in Galle were established by Sir Colonel Alcott, during the turn of the 20th century.
Ana Blastikova a Russian aristocratic lady also came into the foray promoting Theosophy at about the same time.
I have not listened to L.H. Mettananda but as a young guy under 5 years I knew that somebody was making a huge impact on Ceylonese Buddhist Community.
I used to stay overnight at A.C.B.C. building in Fort and I used to have a good Rice Meal, whenever, I come to Colombo. Of course, I moved to more elegant Green Cabin (not The Indian Green Cafe), and stay over weekend and beyond (in Collpetty) for a hopper meal.
DhunTel Bath or Oiled Rice (not the Chinese fried rice which I HATE now), on banana leaves was top class delicacy with ice cream to top up (I will make a piece on ice cream later).
Nothing to beat Masala and Dhal Wade at Green Cafe at Dehiwala.
He was London Educated Educationalist.
He was a member of the "Buddhist Committee of Inquiry" of the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress.
Yes, I did formal education in a school where they still train Catholic Priests.
I think me moving to a Buddhist school had a direct relationship to Buddhist Renascence.
This place is out of bounds to an average Ceylonese Citizen (Ampitiya College).
I think CIA have moles there.
I have had first hand experience, no need to elaborate.
I do not agree with Chapa Bandara in many respects but he seems to have a better understanding of this project coming from a Christian dominated background, in Wennappuwa.
I did work in Negambo but I never felt that the Christians there had a hidden program. In fact, I made a lot of friends there as a doctor.
The first part of this piece is about my entry into real Dhamma.
The sinister part I would list at the end.
Be patient.
This is not written for the sake of vituperation.
This piece is fact based.
I'll dish out only the snippets here but the theme, I highlight here has enough facts.
The facts are enough for a book for someone who wants to venture deeper.
BPS
I will start with Buddhist Publications Society and Bhikku Bodhi.
He has a PhD in physics.
He was the editor there and he left Ceylon to take up a post in America.
His last piece was "Buddhism at Cross Roads".
It is a small piece but this piece identified the impending danger to Dhamma.
It is well worth reading.
My mother wanted me to become a Buddhist Monk.
Good that I did not.
One of my maternal uncles was an erudite Pali Monk.
He interviewed me and agreed that I should become a doctor.
I promised him, I would study Buddhism when I am mature, enough. I did help him to build a Temple in Colombo when I was working as a doctor in Colombo General Hospital. Of course, Senior Premadasa and his Private Secretary Mr. Gamage were of immense help.
His only (my uncle monk) weakness was his English.
He was the one who headed the Ceylonese Team in Burma (Myanmar) Buddhist Council (Symposium), in 1956.
BPS
BPS was established by two German Monks.
I was NOT fortunate enough to meet any of them in real life but the posthumous collection of books on Dhamma canonized there at BPS is a treasure trove. A living monument to their dedication to Dhamma.
Buddhism is about deep knowledge and is not about beliefs.
They were imprisoned in Ghova and that is where they started translating Pali to English.
Most Reverend Gnanathiloka is the elder monk who stayed in the forest reserve (I never visited it) of Uda Watta Kelle.
The location where BPS is currently situated was the dispensary where Dr. Dharmasena practiced. He was my Family Doctor.
Do not misidentify him with the terrible Professor Dharmasena.
He donated his dispensary, to the BPS for it's Library where "Satara Sathipattana" famous most Reverend Gnanapoinika Thera built an enormous collection of Buddhist Sutra Pitakayas.
His plan was to translate them to English.
Bhikku Bodhi of course was one I associated with but not very closely but he was crystal clear in his writing.
One can Google and order any book from BPS in Kandy.
He was a man of few words.
A real physicist.
If I have question, I pose him the question.
He selects me a book and say come back after reading this.
Which I did until I left Ceylon.
One of my dear friends who is a retired Bank Officer, does the book keeping of this institute. If I do not have a book I need, I request him to find one. He would do a research and find one for me, from any location in Ceylon, if it is available in Ceylon.
He is a dedicated guy.
If not found he would order a few copies to be printed.
Printing costs a lot and stocking books not read or moving is not commercially viable in the digital age.
As a banker he knows this well.
What one can do is to donate some money to print the tiles not available currently.
These early publications were called "Bodhi Leaves".
My father had a lovely collection of Buddhist Texts which I could not save (I was in UK when he died), including Astrology (which I hated).
They were vandalized (stolen) within 10 days of his demise.
I of course build a New Collection with new Editions.
I settled down to Dhammpada, Satara Sathipattana and of course the Vissuddhimagga.
Later of course I added Brahmajala Sutta and Kalama Sutta.
Karaneeya Metta Sutta was my base.
I have translated it into English Verse and posted here for perusal.
No one would guess it is really coming from this Sutta.
I have made the English translation very simple.
That helped me in my Simple English.
But I loved books of most Reverend Narada Thera.
He was the one who formerly introduced me to Buddhism before I left to UK.
Buddhism with a Smile is a classic for Children.
He was one of my regular patients in Colombo General Hospital. One must say, I was fortunate enough to meet him in real life.
Then, Rev. Madhihe Pangnaseeha and Piyadassi Thera were veterans in Dhamma Deshana.
Reverend Rerukane Chandhawimsla had some simple Sinhala books on Buddhism.
They ought to be translated to English.
I did not know him at all.
I saw his dead body in Navaloka Hospital along with J.R.J.
I signed J.R.Js final blood report but for some unknown reason I did not see a single blood report on this Thera. He may have given special instructions not to do any unnecessary tests or prolong his life.
But I entered into Dhamma after the death of my mother.
I thought, I would make a book on Dhamma on her behalf, on her 3 months Dhana Ceremony.
That ended up in many books at Amazon Book Store not only in Buddhism but in Linux, too.
Snippets of Betrayal of Buddhism
USA and India Combo, The CIA and The RAW are directly involved in this sinister project.
The current government is the culmination of this Long Term Project.
They tried the CIA method (infiltrate the Sasana) and failed and now using the
"Niragamika Theme" (No religion) of the current PM / President Combo.
"Jayamangaka Gatha" was banned in the parliament BUT the full the Full Christmas Thamasha was dished out.
Jayamangaka Gatha is for the blessing of the Entire World not only Ceylon.
War of Ukraine is an antithesis to Dhamma.
Karaneeya Metta Sutta is the first Sutta one should recite.
If you are Buddhist and over 50 years, You should become a Vegetarian Buddhist which I call the Eggotarians (unfertilized egg) clan of Buddhists.
If you do that one can say that one is a True Buddhist.
Monks should go for "Vegetarian Dhana".
That is only the beginning to stop this subtle betrayal.
There is one Heart Specialist in Colombo who had a full "Vegetarian Wedding" for his daughter.
I forget his name.
Dr Kumar Gunawardane

29 January 2018 ·
Sri Lankan cardiologist honoured in Australia
A Sri Lanka-born cardiologist, Dr Kumar Gunawardane, has been bestowed the most prestigious award - CONSULTANT EMERITUS by The Townville Hospital and Health Service Board.
The presentation was made by the Minister for Health, Queensland, Dr. Steven Miles at a glittering staff excellence award ceremony. This was attended by many local dignitaries including the state and federal parliamentarians and the Mayor of Townsville Cr Jenny Hill.
Dr Steven Miles also presented a floral bouquet to Mrs Shirani Gunawardane honouring her selfless contribution to her husband’s career.
He came after Walupillai.
1. In Kandy opposite the BPS they made a Missionary Hospital to promote Christianity.
This was near a Buddhist Girl's School.
I was taken there as a kid. As a kid I could feel that the doctors there were poorly trained. On my retirement, one of my Catholic friends wanted me to raise it's standards but I gave up after one week.
There main aim is to promote Christianity through Medical Practice.
They have NO belief in medicine they dispense.
2. Number two is to enter Sasana and introduce moles.
Kiribathgoda Baththara Mulla is number 1.
Number two is the homosexual Sanatha Budda of Mahamewna saffron Guy.
Antidote is Do Not donate money to these guys.
Let the Catholic Church to fund them.
3. Attempt to Translate Pali Verses into Sinhala invariably distort the contents and the meaning.
Antidote read Dhammapda.
The Dhammpada is out of production.
Donate some money to BPS to print new copies.
I bought all of them and posted them to my friends left in Ceylon.
Just grasp one or two verses that suits one's heart's content.
4. Dalada Wadena Nilame is the most corrupt Guy.
There was a branch of BPS at the rear side of the Maligawa, before he became the big guy. First thing he did was to close this print outlet of BPS.
I made a vow not to visit Maligawa until he is eliminated from this post.
5. Meditation has become a business.
There is a book by me coming soon.
Dr. Steven Greer is in this game.
6. I am ambivalent of Wesak Celebrations.
As a kid I can remember one of my less bright uncles made a Wesak Lantern with Baby Lanterns. We could not take it out intact from the main door.
We had to separate them and hang them in different locations.
For me, it was an experiment in physics.
Do not be a megalomaniac.
A few buckets and a few coconut oil lamps would do during Wesak.
"Olu Bukko Wigadama" should be stopped.
The buckets will burn showing the "Uncertainty Principle" of Buddhism.
Oils would burn out but the light of Dhamma shines.
7. Wearing a Cross is Christian but do not wear any symbol of Dhamma.
Dhamma is for your Brain.
Digest the meaning.
There are many other distortion and vagaries.
Be mindful of every action.
I hope you become a down to earth Dhamma Guy.
Be very simple and transparent.
Non interventional to begin with.
Politics of CIA and RAW are always interventional.
They got a good ally.
That is NPP/JVP Combo.
BEWARE.
My Analysis of "Metta"- Loving Kindness
My Analysis of "Metta"- Loving Kindness
We had a little gathering.
The reason being we pulled out few wine bottles (bought few years ago with old prices) off VAT from the attic.
Why pull out the old?
Yes we got a few replacements from abroad “Duty Free”.
They will go to the attic till another replacement comes by our way.
About the prices one reflection would suffice.
Good old days we could buy a good “Thambili Wine” (small bottle) for Rs.275/=.
You know the current prices, one pays Rs. 200/= (half
a peg or 50 grams) and they do not dish out less than 150 grams nowadays (Rs.600/= in total).
By the way VAT added.
We had many good ideas but I would pen only one.
What good we achieved during the last 20 years?
I thought that was a good one because that was the period S.L.F.P. (minus two years) was in power.
We went round the table.
Answer went like.
None.
None.
None.................
And finally it got to me.
I had to do the closing comment.
I said minus.
Why was the question?
I was in UK and New Zealand 20 odd years ago.
I did not have hate problem.
I did not have a nationality problem (I was a "Worldly Being")
I had peace in my mind.
The family was happy.
I came to this blessed country to SERVE.
What did I get.
War.
War and more War.
Why do you say minus (Question again)?
Their hate is inbuilt in me NOW.
I have to go into "Metta Mode" every time I see a politician on the TV especially the “Wira Wansa” and “Gon (Hol) Man” Pilla type.
The “Metta” was innate in me twenty years ago and after 20 years of SLFP, I have to remind myself that there is something called Metta.
But every time I see the President (he is half Metta and half political Hate=Neutral).
I cannot say that with Prime Minister.
He is never with the better half or the “Maithree”.
I think he should come out with her once in away to show he has bit of Metta in him.

All Life Forms be happy
Mind you, Dhamma is for insightful realization (wisdom guide) and not an academic exercise.
Sabbe satva anatta
All life forms (higher or lower reams) are impermanent.
What is Dhamma not;
Greed-Loba
Hate-Dhosa
Deceit-Moha
What is Dhamma is;
No greed-Benevolence
Metta-there is no proper English translation for this Pali word.
Wisdom or Self realization there is no permanent Soul or Self.
Dhamma is boundless and timeless.
It permeates all reams and universes .
There is no one world but many worlds.
Four abodes of the enlightenment ones are
Metta
Karuna
Muditha (no proper word in English nearest is “Sympathetic Joy”)
Upekka
Way forward is Meditation either;
Samatha Bhavana
Samatha Bhavana, the development of mental tranquillity with concentration, is accompanied by three benefits; it gives happiness in the present life, a favorable rebirth, and the freedom from mental defilements which is a prerequisite for attainment of insight.
Vipassana Bhavana-
Insight Meditation
Vipassana bhavana is realization of the three signs of being, anicca, dukkha, and anatta,
One needs a good teacher not BOOKS.
Read Francis Story (his site) for details
I believe this phrase “sabbe dhamma anatta” is introduced by design by other faiths to discredit Dhamma (meaning non existing Dhamma)
A subtle way of destroying the teaching.
Flowers
Flowers are the most beautiful things in the world, so here, we are offering the most beautiful things in the world to the Buddha.
And when they fade, it is also a reminder that things of the world also fade – so it’s reminds us of the teaching that
“Whatever is of the nature to arise is also of the nature to change”.
What is changing is impermanent.
life is is a state of flux or ever changing.
It does not say it ceases
There is Sansara with rebirth.
The word reborn is wrong since its connotation is one is "born with repairs”
Merits take one up the reams of life.
Demerits takes one to lower forms.
Read the following that I extracted from another site with some reservation.
Mind you, Dhamma is for realization (wisdom guide) and not an academic exercise.
The Meaning of sabbe dhamma anatta
So what does this phrase mean?
sabbe – means “All”
dhamma – means “things” – specifically it means phenomena experienced through your 6 senses
anatta – means “not Atta” – not Self or not the Atta or not the Atman – not me, not what I am, not my self
In the Pali language, the words “Sabbe dhamma” are synonymous with the word “sabba” which means “All” (which the Buddha himself defined as the 6 sense spheres in the Sabba Sutta).
So “sabbe dhamma” or “sabba” means “all things” or “all phenomena”.
The phenomena are related to the mental accompaniments of all sorts.
And “sabbe dhamma anatta” does NOT mean “There is no self”.
What it means is, “All phenomena are not Atta (Self)”.
All things (all of the phenomena that you perceive through your 6 senses) are not you.
So this applies to everything within the sensory realms – that’s the limit to which sabbe dhamma anatta applies – this is crucial to understand because it does NOT apply to anything beyond the world of the senses.
Coconut Conspiracy
Coconut Conspiracy
One must replace "Coconut Oil" with "Pol Kiri" and "Pol Sambol".
However, Oil can be used on hair and skin liberally.
Abstract to begin with.
Coconut oil consist of Medium-Chain Fatty Acids (MCFAs).
It is a ready made energy source which can replace sugar (10 grams sugar = 1 gram of Coconut Oil roughly) weight for weight.
One does not become hungry.
It does not stimulate Insulin.
It gives more energy and it is not stored as body fat.
Body fat is long chain fatty acids.
It is useful both in Diabetes and Hypothyroidism.
In diabetes it replaces carbohydrates as an energy source, so Insulin requirement is reduced.
In hypothyroidism since it provides freely available energy, it cuts down the need for more thyroxin for metabolism keep warm. Not only that it probably helps in hormonal balance (homeostasis) of the thyroid. Goitre is rare in countries where coconut oil is the staple oil.
In pre-diabetes and early hypothyroidism it retards obesity due to above two actions.
I am not sure about its role in normal adults.
There is a caveat, if you take more “Oil” than YOU need for your metabolism, all the benefits are nullified.
One should avoid other fats including hydrogenated coconut oil.
For thousands of years, coconuts have been a staple of tropical cuisines, and those who followed a traditional coconut-based diet, such as Pacific Islanders, had none of the heart disease, cancer, diabetes, or other illnesses that plague modern America (at least until they switched to Western oils and diet).
Coconut had a solid reputation in America in the first half of the last century, at least for those who knew about, especially after it's benefits became well known from soldiers in the Pacific Theater of World War II.
However, this all changed in 1950s, from “Three "Tragic" Research Papers", whose data were doctored to suit American Conspiracy.
One lady researcher in America fed mice with hydrogenated (not pure coconut oil) coconut oil and doctored a paper to say coconut oil is bad to promote Pea Nut Oil. She committed suicide when it was widely known that she manipulated the data.
In 1954, a researcher D. K. published two academic papers. The initial research described the effects of feeding cholesterol to rabbits and indicated that this may lead to the formation of blocked arteries and thus contribute to potential heart disease.
In his second paper he described the beneficial effects of consuming polyunsaturated fatty acids from the oil of corn, soybeans, safflower and sunflower seeds for the lowering, at least temporarily, of cholesterol in the blood.
Although many studies at a later time had also shown research to the contrary, the mud stuck and by the mid 60’s the reputation of all saturated oils in America had been destroyed.
Then comes the "Marketing Machine" of big business.
The well oiled marketing machinery funded by the soy bean and corn industry and supported by the American Heart Association was committed to change the American Diet, calling among others, for the substitution of saturated fats for polyunsaturates.
Today worldwide heart disease is still on the increase and obesity, linked to the “new” American diet is a major social problem.
All saturated fats are not created equal.
The travesty of these actions was that one of nature’s most amazing resources, tropical oils, and especially coconut oil with all its functional, nutritional and pharmaceutical possibilities, has been lost to modern medicine for decades.
Although saturated, coconut oil is structurally, pharmaceutically and behaviorally different to any other natural oil or fat.
Coconut Oil is one of the healthiest things you can put in [and on] your body!
What are some of the health benefits of coconut oil being reported?
Some of the most recent research has come from people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, with reports of people improving or even reversing the effects of Alzheimer’s by using coconut oil, as drug trials on Alzheimer’s drugs continue to fail.
We have also seen a lot of reports of coconut oil health benefits from those suffering from hypothryroidism, as coconut oil helps boost metabolism and raise body temperatures to promote thyroid health.
Restricting carbohydrates (do not eat RICE) and increasing coconut oil in the diet has also led many to report losing weight with coconut oil.
Candida sufferers also report health benefits with coconut oil as research now confirms, and those suffering from various skin diseases are also seeing tremendous health benefits by applying coconut oil directly on the skin.
The benefits of coconut oil for healthy hair are also well known, and other healthy benefits of coconut oil included fighting off bacterial infections and viruses.
Coconut oil (Pol Kiri with Divul was my prescription to Sanath when was in his peak) is also increasingly being seen to benefit athletes and fitness trainers giving them an advantage in sustaining energy levels longer without drugs or stimulants.
To date, there are over 1,500 studies proving coconut oil to be one of the healthiest foods on the planet. Coconut oil benefits and uses go beyond what most people realize.
Research has finally uncovered the secrets to this amazing fruit; namely healthy fats called Medium Chain Fatty Acids (MCFAs), these unique fats include:
Caprylic acid
Lauric acid
Capric acid
And around 62% of the oils in coconut are made up of these 3 healthy fatty acids and 91% of the fat in coconut oil is healthy saturated fat.
Most of the fats that we consume take longer to digest, but MCFAs found in coconut oil provide the perfect source of energy because they only have to go through a 3 step process to be turned into fuel vs. other fats go through a 26 step process!
Unlike long-chain fatty acids (LCFAs) found in plant based oils, MCFAs are easier to digest
Proven Alzheimer’s Disease Natural Treatment
The digestion of MCFA’s by the liver creates ketones which are a readily accessible energy by the brain. Ketones supply energy to the brain without the need of insulin to process glucose into energy. Recent research has shown that the brain actually creates it’s own insulin to process glucose and power brain cells. As the brain of an Alzheimer’s patient has lost the ability to create it’s own insulin, the ketones from coconut oil could create an alternate source of energy to help repair brain function.
