Buddha was born, attained Enlightenment and passed away (Parinibbhana) on the full moon day of Wesak.
The roation of the moon does not align with the Solar Calander of 364 plus few hours.
12 Solar months.
13 Lunar months.
Even though moon rises exactly at the same time the observation or perspective is very different depending on one what location one stands.
Im the Northern Hemisphere it rotated grom right to left.
In the Southern Hemisphere it rotates from left to right.
At the equator it rotatrs almostv180 degrees.
Time is a Concept but not something Real.
It is determined by our Sun and the Earth's Rotation around the Sun.
Moon was traditionally used by those around the equator and in CEYLON to determine the dates before print material was available but has gone out of fashion.
This is just to state that the perspective is different from where one observes the moon.
Moon is almost vertical to an observer in the Northern Hemisphere.
It is boat shaped to am observer in CEYLON but me in now Australia it is an upsidedown perspective.
The location of the observer determines the perspective.
Full moon, crescent or no moon at all.
Do not let perspective cloud the mind of the observer.
That is the Buddhist Outlook.
Uncertainty is the guiding principle of Dhamma.
