CDE, GNOME and KDE Desktops

CDE stands for Unix Common Desktop Environment.
It was proprietary.

GNOME the Goblet was created by two German students to make GNU free of proprietary stuff.

It was called GTK or Gnome Tool Kit.

KDE was proprietary with Qt tool kit.
Qt is now transitioning from Qt5 to Qt6.

It transitioned to Free Software much later.
It did not branch from GNOME.

K originally stood for Kool and this meaning was dropped to become neutral K without any distinct relative or origin.

GNOME resisted to change.
It is actually a Development Platform with Runtime Environment for Global Developer Community.

Free to modify but a copy has to be left for the Common Goal or for the community built on.
It is not like tinkering in KDE.
Crash car can be rebuilt to look like brand new.

Except for MATE everybody neglected Trinity Desktop Tool Kit.

Not only Pop OS or Tuxedo which are proprietary there are many beautiful KDE desktops.

BlueStar Linux tops the list and is my favourite. I have 3 cipies on if which is Develiper Edition.

I used Netrunner which accommodated Synaptic Package Manager.
It is still in 16.1.13+ 13 kernel.
Where as Debian Forky is 17.1.13+ 14 kernel.
One generatuon or kernel behind.

Then there was Neptune.
It has a new version in 2026.
I am currently installing it.
It failed to overwrite XiVa Linux/Big Linux GRUB.
However, Netrunner RECOVERED it.
Thank you.
Neptune has some cool features.
I am not going to ADD GNOME 50 and spoil the soup for old KDE.

I am trying to install Netrunner which is like Manjaro cannot read my 40 partitions .
It finally did.
It is still in Plasma 5 version.
These KDE unlike GNOME guys are very SLOW to change and adopt New Trends.
This may be a reason I gave up KDE for good and remained with GNOME which is Stable, Rock Solid and Secure.

No need to reinvent the wheelto accommodate dissolutioned Microsoft Dropouts.
ZORIN of Ireland started the rot trying to become Windows Look a Like.

I have 40 partitions.
One is for EFI.
3 for SWAPS.
36 remaining and I can accommodate a few KDE Desktops

Many KDE is adopted by many distributions.
KDE Neon User
KaOS
MX Linux
Russian ROSA
PCLinuxOS was one of my old favourites.

I still cannot figure out why I BOOTED Out KDE.
It is 3AM.
As suggested by AI, I embark on new features after a good night sleep.
