Labour Wins with a Considerable Swing

Labour Party around 500,000 Total Votes
Liberal-National Alliance 400,000 Total Votes.
A deficit of 100,000 which in electoral terms is a Landslide Victory.

The beauty is nobody gets 50% of the vote in the first round.
It is around 33 to 38% in the first round for the winner.

Australia uses prefential voting system so the winner has to pass the 50% threshold.

Votes of the one who gets the lowest number of vote is redistributed according to the preference vote.
If that does not make 50% the second lowest is redistributed according to the preference until 50% is met.
Usually this requirement is fullfiled by the third count.
It takes lot of time but computer program developed could predict the final number of seats.
Current Projection not Final
Labour 86 to 88
Coalition 38 to 40
Independent 8 to 10
Total is 138 and another 12 seats remains to distributed which are really close fights.
Final may be
Labour         94
Coalition      44
Rest             12
Total.         150
Australia is a continent and has 150 whereas Ceylon a small county has 225 which an anomaly.

GreenParty is wiped off the map.
Yes, I do not believe in fringe parties.

In Ceylon we have 86 parties and a few saffron clad guys own parties.
They use these parties to set off income TAX and some parties sell their assets to the best bidder just before nomination.

This Kodituwakku guy who is disseminating almost faked news never has a party. His collections are never audited and he is a crook just like Sepala, Sudath and most of the YouTube guys.

All of them beg for patreon contributions and I have never spent a cent for "Faked News".

I believe in Alternative Media but I do not think in my life time we see a "Sea Change".

Tickuer Carlson is an exception.

Yes, I am three years in Australia and just witnessing another Labour Victory.
I am Labour Guy of course, all my life and when I Britain I was a British Labour Party supporter and was registered with the Party.

It is strange no party is above the King and Britain or for that matter Australia become a Republic.

I think it is high time but security protocols with USA and Britain are the obstacles.
For that matter we cut our umbilical cord with Britain long time ago but current President Anura had wrapped our umbilical cords around Modi's big belly.
I wish it is around his neck in the future where we can tighten it like Israel do it to its neighboring countries and USA.

In came Mrs.Tatcher in 1980s the Labour lost lost and I left UK for good.

I was in New Zealand briefly for two years there also Labour lost to Nationals. Then New Zealanderd made a mockery of first pass (promotional representation) the post elections and I totally lost interest in New Zealand politics including All Blacks

Beauty is this time round I did not follow Australian election closely and believed some form of change would happen and a close fight.
I was proven wrong.
In politics charisma is important.
I do not say Labour had it but in reality the opposition lacks.
But charisma has no value.

We elected a charismatic guy in Ceylon with lot of promises BUT he is proving himself IMPOTENT to deal with Indian and RAW.

It is SAD.

Unlike in Ceylon there is no big buzz.

One won't realize there that there was an election in Australia.
It is so peaceful to the extent that the opposition was wiped out.

The Liberal-National coalition did not fight hard and the swing was around 5% to 3% in favour of Labour.
If they faught hard in some seats they would have narrowed it down to 1% they even would have doubled the number of seats.
One cannot win from an armchair or from simple media campaigns.
One has to meet the voters in real time

It all depends whether Labour could fulfil it promises.
The bottom line is I want Australia to be successful and emerging force in Global Politics.
It's population I think is less than in Ceylon.

We in Ceylon have more mouths but less working people in offices while JVP was very destructive for over 50 years.

That is their curse and nobody believed in them except rhetoric.

Only indication was that I used to get an email once in a way to indicate there is an election.

That's it.

Politics here is at policy levels.
1. Cost of Living (going up in Ceylon)
2. Affordable Housing
3. State of Healthcare

Nothing about Youth Fighting and Drugs
Nothing about alcohol abuse and domestic violence
Nothing about Immigration
Nothing about Muslim / Chinese issues

Some of the above were my concerns when I was in UK and little kids suffer a lot. I went to learn normal paediatrics but ended up desking with child abuse a lot. That was one reason I left UK.
Sadly it happens a lot in Ceylon and except for a few cases they are pushed under the carpet.
They include some Tuition Masters and some of them are already in the parliament and would not take any action to wean this menace and improve the schools in the periphery.

Ranil's plan is to destroy Kannaggara Free Education and he is the biggest menace to Education Ceylon.
He thinks Education is like selling Wattakkas and Bandakkas in Dambulla.
Throw away the rotten to our elephants without looking after our elephants welfare.
In other words children who fail in the year 5 examination are thrown to the dustbin.
The primary goal is to help these less able kids. I had been telling this for over 30 years and nobody listened.
Carried on with the same ploy.
I did some improvement to the Universities these Peratugamus Duminda and ? others doing enough damage to our A level and University Education.
They are pest and offshhots of JVP.
There again sadnesses.
I left Ceylon in my old age and I can close my eyes to Ceylon and wish not be born there again.
Just see characters like Nalinn De Silva and how he ended up.
He was another pest and I hear his cohort is nearing 100.

Professor Aponso is also 100 but he remains in Kandy.

But my major interst is Australian Cricket but lately I am begining to understand their (Australian) Rugby Football.

English Rugger I barely comprehended.

Thank You Peter Dutton in Dicksokn, it is time to reflect and pass the batton to a worthy contender.
You had been a good Health Minister long time ago and I used to follow Australian politics from Ceylon (a few years after the end of our internal ethnic war) when lot of our diasphora moved to Australia on bogus ethnic cleansing pretext.

As a medical guy I was very much interested in Geariatrics and old age deterioration of mental capacity.

My gut feeling it is Alcohol that causes majority of Dementia in old age.
Alcohol is a menace in Ceylon, and I often  wonder how come a country in debt where average person uses most of his income on alcohol and adulterated alcohol and illegal alcohol is a major industry the new government has no control.
It is the major income of the government.
My research lead to discover that JRJ our first president white printing Dharmista Samajaya ( there was a stamp) promoting Alcohol Industry.
80% of our Rice production is diverted to brewery and the price of a kilo of rice had gone up by 300%.
That the way politics works in Ceylon.
I am off Alcohol and had wine (I was an addict of good wine) only thrice in three in three years all were related to some form of party, birthday or an anniversary. Most of the parties I abstained while others enjoyed the spriti of the time.

My ambition was to come to Australia and work in Northern Territories then. That did not work out but ended up in New Zealand in 1992. I did not want to retire at 50 which was a Labour Policy in New Zealand and went back to Ceylon and stayed in service until 2016 in a newly built Faculty.
There I was more interested in Linux networking and not Microsoft or Apple devices.
Then the coronavirus intervened and fortunately I did not pay an advance for the air ticket.
Air ticket were cheap, then.
I could not afford the price of air tickets which went up by 300% but English Pound was strong.
Then the Ukraine War and everything is going up in price including Mini PCs.
My only wish now is to test new version of Linux on a DDR5 Mini PC.
I have to wait until the prices go down to manageable level.
I am not interested in Linux games now.
But my book on Linux Essentials is in its editing and checking typos.
