Swindling by Default

This was a dream where a guy who is a Ceylonese crook in Colombo who organized a Grand Auction type of episode and sells contracts big and small on open bid.

The swindle occur before the auction.

The bidder has to keep a big security which is refundable only if he/she secures the deal.

In reality there are no deals.
He scoops and vanishes
This episode the guy falls from high rising building.
I was not sure he was pushed or he jumped.
I woke up.

Now that I am away from City of Kandy.
I would relate some facts about Original Doctors of Kandy.

I had gone to all of them and all of them are gone.

1. CDL

2. Rajendra (not Tamil) - Samadara Dispensary

3. Dr. Nihal Karunatatne

4. Dr. Nadesan

5. ? Dr. Katawala

6. There was another one near Kandy Peradeniya road.
He was the Secretary of Health (after retirement).

7. Another guy of no significance

8. Another bogus skin guy

9. There is another guy who had very bad reputation in New Zealand.

10. There was another dispensary in front of the Clock Tower.
Ended up as my Barber Saloon and rest of the premises belonged to Bank of Ceylon.
British Council Library in Kandy was there for sometime.
This is where I used to meet my makeshift friends, everyday of my Kandy visit after retirement.
My Guess Work is this doctor had taken a big loan from the bank and he could not pay back. Banks are clever to catch gullible doctors but bank subsequently developed the property to good standard but no restaurant in the premise.

You know why?
Bank only wants work from its workers who invariably get duodenal ulcers.

I have treated many in my life.

Profit is their goal.
This is why bankers become drunkards.

CDL was the first to go.
His clinic became a mini shopping complex.
This was in the early 1980s when TVs were novelty. There was an TV antenna shop there. There was also a pharmacy, watch repair (man) shop and a few other tiny shops.
Pharmacy outlet is mandatory if there is no second generation doctor to take over the business.
Dispensary is a business by all means.
The Municipality depends on business taxes and I think the taxes are very high.

This is in addition to b-tax form that owner has to fill and  pay tax on behalf of each employee who is more than six months in service.

I never work in a place where this tax is not paid.
The nursing hands are never made permanent due to this reason.
I end up in courts or prison, years later.
This not an easy business.

I managed a hospital in Negambo belonged to another doctor under his supervision.
When joined in it had lot of arrears.
Settled everything in six months well before leaving to New Zealand.
I do not know its status now.

Dr. Nihal Karunatatne
It became a nice restaurant where I used to go for Kottu.
I am not sure there is a pharmacy there. I do not think Dr. Karunatatne violated this principle. There ought to be one which I could not locate in my brief visits.
It also dished out good Aappa or hoppers.

Dr. Nadeson
KPH hospital

Dr. Nadeson was my family doctor and he suddenly disappeared from Kandy.

Now come to a real story.
I met Dr. Nadeson years later.
He had come from UK.
I was back in Ceylon but without a job.
He offered me to run KPH.
I flatly refused but asked him what the problem was.
He said he needs his legal possession of the property.
I asked him are going to stay back.
He said NO.
I told him you looked after me as a kid.
I have the return the favour.
I do not need any money.
I told him my methods are bit crude and productive.
Would you give me free hand.
One day, I walked into KPH and encountered the said doctor.
I said, I am in charge of this case now, if he does not settle this within a month, nasty things may happen.
It was settled in no time.
That was the end of it and I said Good Bye to Dr. Nadeson and he went to UK happily.

But little bit is left.
After this he asked me to help in Dr.Rajendra's Samadara Dispensary.
I knew about this. In fact, I was interested in it after he left to UK.
He was a complicated guy with some matrimonial conflict in addition.
It was complicated by legal battles and Dr. Rajendra had died in England.
He of course did not have financial problems.
There was another doctor guy in Kandy who tried to possess this but he failed. Legally one cannot close a Medical Unit
Only the pharmacy functions now in the name of the Samadara Dispensary.

There is another medical outlet run by another guy.

Anohter story.
He was an obstetrician who used to do locum at Peradeniya Medical Faculty.
He was a very nasty guy.
He had a piece of land near the current Consultation Practice.
He tried to open his own unit but could not due to Influence of the other guy.

I think he sold that land  to a guy who was dealing with Computers. My interest in the city was computers but I never visited this joint.

There was a dispensary and a few of the legal outlets in front of the Maligawa belonging to the Temple.
They were evicted after the lease periods were over.
I do not know the current situation.

My lawyer late Mr. Arudusothy passed away and I stopped visiting this place.
The previous lady lawyer committed suicide why I do not know.
Mr. Arudusothy took over the cases.
After about 15 years I got my problem sorted out with the help of                          Mr. Arudusothy
This included a permanent injunction against Municipality of Kandy.

This is during JVP Bheeshanya and Thuggery.

I was told not to appear for my case by JVP sympathisers.
I took the risk and I kept my legal rights.

Another reason I hate JVP.

Long time ago with the help of JRJ I got rid of a Registrar of the Court and his ally the Judge was sent on compulsory retirement.

I can say this freely since I do not intend to visit Ceylon in this life.
