I am a Tech Guy.
I am a Political Guy.
I would summarily dismiss the politics from the very outset.
Live engine of Democracy is the Vibrant Opposition.
I think, I started with Kit Kat.
Before that I had a basic and cheap Singaporean cellphone which I discarded before coming to Australia.
I also had an "අඔ ඇට" cellphone for quick communication. Just to find the place where Anchor කිරිපිටි or පාන්පිටි is available. I send a messenger by a 3Wheeler to collect what is available.
I still have that cellphone with Hutch SIM card. I have a Singaporean SIM, too. I guess it has expired. The plan was to go back in 3 months.
I had a dialog prepaid Dongle.
I bought a brand new SLT-MobiTel Dongle and I have not yet removed its original seal. I di not support Dialog after it was taken over by an Indian subsidiary.
I am antiindian by conviction.
We have two MobiTel lines one prepaid and one postpaid.
My first email is not Google (not in existence) but MobiTel Yahoo Mail which I reactivated.
I have an AOL email too.
Both of them I use to publish my books at Amazon.
Coming to my books, I had to add a chapter on Androids.
Afterall it is Linux based.
I need to make a note on Nokia cellphones bought over by Microsoft and eventually killed.
Original Cellphone was an Finnish company's innovation.
Not an American innovation.
It now exists as HMD Global.
Appropriately name Human Mobile Devices.
I sold (not pawned) my gold ring and bought 10 Nokia cellphones.
After all they do not put the ring into the coffin of the owner to whom it belongs.
This decision I now consider, a smart one.
I had Android 5 to Android 9 which I invested fully.
I had Kit Kat on two cheap Chinese copycats and a game outfit which could not copy my 18 characters passed for gmail and blogposts.
I had Lollypop on one phone and Pie on another. I disposed all of them before leaving Ceylon.
One incident worth reporting.
I gave one of my cellphones with a Hutch Prepaid SIM to a STUPID guy who used to do odd jobs for me including finding Anchor milk food. The understanding was that he uses its DATA until data is over and throw it to a bin. He did not know how to change the SIM.
That stupid.
He gave it to a rouge Muslim Guy to add his SIM to it.
This Muslim guy removed my SIM and put one of his SIMS.
This guy must be running a BOGUS Hospital under my name. I pity all his patients.
This guy did not tell me this incident.
Only, after probing I got to know and I quickly disposed the house whose address was on the SIM to avoid legal implications.
In any case, I refused to pay a yearly Registration Fee to Ceylon Medical Council under which I was registered.
I am M. B. B. S. (Ceylon) which I am proud of.
I went with this guy and reported it to Hutch but Hutch run by a Muslim guy did not rectify the misappropriation of my SIM. That is why I HATE Hutch to this day.
Never trust a Muslim Guy in Ceylon.
Many of them are crooks.
This guy asked for my Laptop knowing that I was about to leave. I blasted him saying that You could not deal with a simple SIM and how can I trust you with a Laptop was my response.
The Laptop is now running 10 Linux distributions smoothly.
I shifted to a restaurant cum a residence in Kandy 3 weeks prior to my departure.
He was also accommodateed in this residence to help me sort out simple things.
Then of course I had a very reliable Driver and earthwhile helper from my cement tanks building to day to day mobility on the final days of my stay in Ceylon.
Of course, Sumane my classmate in preschool was in charge of my travel arrangements up to the Katunayake Air Terminal.
Thanks to all of them.
I have another ring I bought when I was in New Zealand in 1994 a decade after marriage.
Little note about Ceylonese attitude to marriage and rings.
It is not a love-bond but a financial-bond. The moment the relationship cracks the opposing party demands the ring back.
If not they go to Courts and spend 10 times the value of the ring. That is why lawyers are very rich in Ceylon.
The Court of course, try to patch up or settle it amicably which never materialize in Ceylon.
Another TOPIC for Amen Kariyakaravana.
