Linux Support for Androids

Alternative is to run cellphone on Linux Debian Gnome through,
Phosh
Lumiri.
Do not cofuse wih Niri whicu is abTiling Window Manager.

I just gave up on Linux support for cellphones after Ubuntu and Debian with only terminal support.
I have found lwo utilities now, thank to Forky developers.
I have not yet tested them fully.
They are
Lomiri
Phosh
Hope more would surface.

One additional finding Gnome GRUB cannot support ARCH derivatives but ARCH can support GNOME.

GNOME base is old and conservative.

ARCH completely new but innovative.

I am gradually shifting myself towards ARCH.
CachyOS is efficient and strict but cannot coexist with other ARCH dervatives.

My shiting towards ARCH is due to its flexibility especially REBORN OS.

Manjaro is no different.

Thank YOU guys and girls for your wonderful work.

One can never expect Apppe Mac and Microsoft Windows to be innovative in the face of globalization of the code.

Unfortunately nothing is penetrating into Russia and China.
They live in their Own Worlds.
I of course hate Chinese stuff but I have a Chinese cellphone I bought in CEYLON with a cracked glass.

I cannot afford my favourite cellphone Nokia in Australia.
It is very expensive.
I had 10 Nokia cellphones with 15 SIM cards but none in Australia after paying 35 US dollats for 6 weeks in Australia in 2023.

It is more expensive now.

SATA disks are too expensive and thete is no hope of me getting my two terabyte portable hard disks left in Ceylon to service.

I would not visit Ceylon until this NPP/JVP government is expelled by force.

They will try to hang on until the last moment even though they are the most unpopular government in recent history.

They came to powet with 46% percent 4% less than the constitutional requirements.

That කපටි මැතිවරණ හොරා from down south did a roundabout ජිල් මාට්  to propel Anura to power.
No lawyer with guts opposed his sordid plan.
Now the entire country is payibg the price.

I now CURSE ජිල් මාට් කාරයා.

Unfortunately he comes from my ulma mater Peradeniya University.

Even the Peradeniya University has paid an untold price. It was totally under water including the Senate Building.

He is junior to me and I never saw him during my student days.

Jaya Mangala Gatha and the Blessings

I had only 10 days leave for our wedding.
Only thing I requested was get two teams to sing Jayamangala Gatha

One team for me one and other team for the going to be wife.

Those blessing last for ages and to those who sing them.
Those little girls each had a Parker pen and lot of extravagant chocolates for them to remember the event for life..

Those girls must be having their own children by now. I hope these mums teach their children to carry on the age old tradition.
Anura is the only guy who refused the recitation in his inauguration.
He reaping the adverse effects of breaking the tradition.

I feel he is a curse to this country.

Guys who love Jayaratne Pathiraarchchi should recite Jayamangala Gatha for 3 days on the trot.

Not a recorded stuff.

Children are always a blessing.

I am not saying this because I did pediatrics for a long time in UK.

Those  children never hear Jayamangala Gatha and their suffering lasts long.

In addition children would overcome the fear of the current devastation, if this practice is revived in schools.

Having seen the devastation to Peradeniya University, well the current Vice Chancellor needs lot of blessings.

Recorded Jayamangala Gatha on radio or television has no effects.
In schools they put records.

One does not have to understand the words in Pali.

If one underground the words the benefit is exponential.

As an adult now I prefer the Peon of Joy.

Aloka Udapada
Vidya Udapada and
Panna Udapada sung in the "Aneka Jathi Sansaram".

Kelum Jayasumana also should practice my advice before he gets a Heart Attack.

Otherwise, lot more Curse and Suffering would befall on Ceylon.

For a change Christmas Carol should be banned this December.

Go back to the time before Portuguese came to Ceylon.

Even, the wild elephants are calm after hearing Jayamangala Gatha sung in a musical tone.

Elephants love musical tones.

There was a British Guy who wanted to kill 50 elephants for tusks. He was killed by the elephant, in his last attempt.

I love elephants and I am against parading them in Kandy Perahara.
I have been boycotting Perahara for over 45 years on that ground alone.

It is not a Buddhist festival but a festival forced upon Buddhists by the last Tamil and Hindu king.

British were a curse to Ceylon.
See the devatation in the Tea Plantation in CEYLON and in Mid Africa.

I love tea but I have cut down the number of cups. Tea market would slump and Tea prepared for export were damaged.
Muslims who do not have no contribution in Tea Production will dump the rotten tea to the masses. I know it and I investigated their sordid acts in the past. They mix tea destined for manure in attractive packets.
I used go for a Tea Center run by a Tamil investor and smell the tea before buying.
Tamils do not cheat in business and that is why they are successful.
Muslims a different kettle of fish.
Saudis love our tea our best brand "Heladive Tea" was bought by them.

It looks like a section of Tamils are becoming a curse to Ceylon.

Our Rivers

 Reproduction and old piece

Our Rivers

Some years ago I remember walking around the campus and finding all the bridges were badly maintained including the Railway Bridge in Peradenya and Panideniya.

I decided to write up something on river basin management.

If I remember correct, I send a draft to a English National Daily but they never bother to publish it or publish a similar article highlighting how Kandy as a district was neglected by politicians for the last 35 years or so.

The politicians past and present once they assume duties come to Kandy as a routine pilgrimage in a motorcade (now in helicopters), over these dilapidated bridges and do sweet nothing afterward

This cycle goes on ritualistically since they never get out of their cars or from their air conditioned rooms except for choreographed editions of their meeting of the electorate.

So I decided to publish them in the open, that means in the Web.

Three years after that a shoddy job was done at Peradeniya Motor Bridge (nothing probably for Railway Bridge) and still the Peradeniya town is under threat due to earth slips

Most of these damages were initialed by heavy construction undertaken to construct Telecommunication Towers and some name boards on the hill above the Peradeniya town.

If one walks along the river side of botanical gardens cracks were visible on the road for decades but nobody took notice of all these symptoms and signs. The reckless negligence by successive governments went on unabated.

They provide lip service come elections and after that they move to Colombo and never come to Kandy, even during December holidays.

Kandy had been a neglected city after the British left for good.

I have stated these observations based on my limited sphere of activity and everybody who is somebody should observe what is neglected in his or her sphere of activity and record and report them for the local government to act.

But I cannot remember anybody acceding to my requests and comments.

However, I did not go into details of landslide since my understanding about is limited but my experience of it from childhood is enough, to say the least.

I have seen part of the massive Ampitiya Uduwela landslide more than 50 years ago when many people left that village for good and settled elsewhere for safety of their life.

On person, I knew veey well was Mr. Wimalasena. He was our Laboratory Assistant, in Ampitiya college. He had sound understanding of science. His knowledge of understanding of local plants was outstanding. My understanding was if one cover a seed with soil and moision it water, it would germinate. This is not true of some. I was trying to germinate a "Rata Nelli" (Nelli is a local sour berry), for ages and could not. I asked him. He said the seed cracks open only due to intense heat and put some on the road to your house and let vehicle run over them during the drought. When rain comes a few of them would germinate by the side and let them grow for a while and pot them  later. Sure, I did with excellent results. He lived upto 80s and he was poisoned with digitalis by the doctors in the local hospital. I examined medical his records and ECGs and carefully weaned him off. He used to bring various ornamental plants nicely planted in polythene bags and sell them for his daily living. His paltry pension was woefully inadequate. Then, I did not see him for sometime and assumed he passed away. I never asked him what happened to his family after the eartth slip. He never married again.

Now in Kandy no place is safe.

In addition, during the Mahaveli Development the land reserves were divided among some of the kith and kin in public service and politics for a pittance. That resulted in further encroachment of the river basin
One guy, I remeber was Wijeyapala Mendis. He bought the land for Rs. 20/= acre. His youngest brother told me, so. I used look after his kids in Negambo.
There was another guy named Dodanwela or Baddewela in the University who did purchase land for Rs. 20/=.
I was offered land for the same price when I was working for IMMI. I refused, simply because I used see lot of patients with Kidney disease in Digana and around. It was all due to lime or high concentration of calcium. Our family inherits urate problem and the combination of calcium and urate is cumulative. I did end up with an allied problem, since I did not drink enough water (only milk and Mesna Tea), when I am out in the city.

Coming to topic here;
The management of the river basin was left to mother nature.

In addition heavy equipment used and detonation used over the past 30 years have compromised heavy tension wire installationsThey even remove or steal, the wires and reinforcement used to anchor the pillars. Enough damage is alrady done, one day, high tension wires might fall on our heads.
Nobody would care a damn.

Roughly a year ago Kandy train could not go past beyond Panideniya for three days due to stretch of the track collapsing on to the drain. This part is still not fully serviced and the trains do go pass that point to Kandy daily.

I used to take train to Panideniya which only 20 minuted and 12 Rupees. But by bus  6 Rupees and 90 minutes.
I decided to stop going by this train since one is not sure whether one would return safely home the same evening.

It is time we forget about Mega Projects and divert our attention at least to refurbish the existing infrastructure before they fall apart completely

This is how the public service is managed and it is getting worse by the season. There are so many ministries and there is no coordination, to say the least.
The events that are unfolding in Kandy and around are due to lack of foresight and negligence by the authorities holding high posts.

This cycle will repeat ad lib.

Yes ultimate catastrophe befell on us.
I did not have the slightest clue something of this nature would happen. I still do not know what happened to Penideniya Station.
It is Clapham Junction in Ceylon.
Google asks for money for clear expanded view.
I won't bother paying

Mak-kos. Mack-kas, and Mac OS

Mak-kos. Mack-kas, and Mac OS

1. Makkos (Mathiwarana Komasaris) is our Election Commissioner.
He trains his officers to rig the count at Counting Stations.
This was what happened in Kandy, last time round.
They (counting officers) are given drinks after midnight and the covert operation begins.
They should be sacked (according to our civil service practice that originates from British) from their normal work and appoint them as our foreign ambassadors after the victory parade.

2. Makkas are the fleas.
They rig the voter at home and at the polling booths.
They are blood suckers and live on blood (political violence).

3. Mac Os is Apple Mackintosh Computer with its latest Operating system to rig the results.
Last time they were imported from India with Indian hacker's to help the commissioner.
This time they come from America, now that Steve Job is dead it is easy to use Mac Os for rigging.

It is called “Computer Gilmart”

DO NOT Try SOLUS

To start with it does not look like a standard Linux Distribution.
USB image is 3.2GB and boots OK.
To begin with it configures the WiFi OK.
It does not have an entry for EFI to begin with. It ERASED the EFI with FAT32. I went back deleted and made a new EFI ENTRY.
It.Actually it made FAT partition to boot as im Legacy computer.
Later I found that EFI partition allows any boot script to be written either legacy or UEFI. I have no problem with EFI since I do not use Microsoft Windows.
Installation took only 11 minutes and I knew it would not boot.
Besides, it killed the BIOS entry without EFI for booting. BIOS flagged me to say, that there is no hard disk to boot.
I was so annoyed I made lot of mistakes while making correction but Debian Base warns me of my mistake before committing.
SOLUS did not flag or gave any warnings.

I guessed at the end this SAGS SOLUS may come alive since I left /boot entry.
It did not and I do not know what dedkto it has.
I think this is an independent distribution made by some bone headed guys in Ireland, just luke ZORIN guys.

If SOLUS come alive I would find 10 more of its shortcimings, if ever it mounts on my NUC. These guys probably were Unity and Budgie guys who have lately realized their own mistakes and trying to come to the fold of Debian by stealing the work of Debian.

AVOID this distribution by all means.

Since I have not used it in the past and I am going to make an entry in my upcoming book, this SAGA was a necessary episode but was a Catastrophe.
I really went mad.

Manjaro Cinnamon

 Manjaro Cinnamon

I was bit unhappy with KIRO Linux with dull desktop features to save on memory.

I tried all the Big Linux Images fro K66, K612 to K17 Kernels buy none of them had the the appropriate drivers for the basic NUC .

Last time when I tried Lastold linux they did not boot.

This time I found Manjaro Cinnamon (not the community edition), there.

It had the same problem  as with Manjaro it took more than half an hour to read my partition table.

Once it read the partitions it is smooth sale.

WiFi configuration was smooth

Cinnamon Desktop is beautiful and elegant and I begin to like it.

Also brings the past nostalgia, using it during 32 bit time.

It is at 24% after 12 minutes filling up the partitions.

I hope it is not frozen at 24% after  such a wait. It looks like it the Calmares that is frozen unabke to make /tmp/ root file.

Like UBUNTU it opens all my Partitions without root permission.

I manged to move 2 iso to the NTFS partition.

It is not the RAM that is holding the the installation.

Password on live Session is Manjaro.

It was a typical MANJARO failure and I hit the kill switch before it destoys my GRUB file. I am still to find a suitable iso to install.

LastOS is also a failure.

Whay next?

I may try beta version of Antix25.

Revisting KIRO Linux

KIRO Linux
It comes from Belgium.
Historically I have heard nothing good about Belgians and that certainly has some effect on this simple review.
To begin with I won't withdraw my remarks about Variiety Wallpaper using it back port to snoop on the user.
It is ARCH based and Xfce which I do not fancy.
I had a spare GNOME instance which I almost never used.
So I installed KIRO to try installing Gnome and Plasma.
It is light weight and used only 10GB of 25GB / root partition.
I could not remove Variety and it is bound to command line by default.
It looks like it is used for school use and the desktop effects are good but not as good as BlueStar Linux.
KIRO Linux is of low priority to me.
Successful but it ERASED by GRUB.
Only BlueFish Linux and Reborn of ARCH tend to live together.
I want to see KIRO could, if not it will be ERASED soon.
I should get my GRUB back to see the probable invasion or evasion.
