If I do not make some political predictions my friends near and far might think, I have kicked the bucket.

So here, I am, my prediction is (similar to my neutrality during the Cricket Wold Cup) there will be mayhem in this country, the moment the election is declared. 
 

The current relatively quiet atmosphere is artificial.

It is just like “ the calm before the storm”.

My current analysis is better than Sri-Lankan umpires’ decision making on and outside the field.

But it is current for only now but with the fluidity on the ground my predictions might dissipate into thin air in a matter of minutes.

Points I am stressing are the things that will make it more fluid in the the future.

If you are a Sri-Lankan who wish to come for holiday one should think twice before embarking.

A true tourists must reroute ones itinerary well in advance, since there will be violence at all levels including in hotels where politician hide for cover.

1. Point One is Violence.

There will be violence at all levels.

Police will look the other way in political violence worse than the Easter Sunday.

That is their inherent behavior on record in the past and more so in current scenario.

They are less proactive but basically retroactive in response.

a) Unlike in the past, the first violence or killing will be based on religious overtures.

b) The second wave of violence will be on racial grounds.

Both are good cover for politicians of all parties.

c) The of Party Violence, intra and inter party violence will be petty and minimal and will emerge before and after the nomination papers are handed over.

They are minimal for the first time in our history, simply because a) and b) violence strategies have been taken over by the party affiliates of the criminal gangs that operate during election.

Only petty party converts are available for c) category.

Point number Two is Muslim vote.

It will not make a dent this time round.

Partly due to violence and partly due to clerics overtures.

Point Number Three is Tamil Politicians will make a significant dent for all parties.

Tamil politicians have been quite resilient, intelligent and politically realistic.

Their analysis of the political ground realities and I think they can very well determine the wellbeing of our politics.

Kumar David and Rajan Philip from Australia should make full capital of the little window of sanity in politics.

Ratnajeevan Hoole will have no impact this time round.

Number Four is Timing of the Elections.

It has no meaning at all since the polarization has been rigid and already established.

Snap election dream of current president is a non starter.

Number Five is the “Third Force”.

Its steam has evaporated.

Its imputes were hijacked by the current regime and was slowly but surely throttled.

Come election it will be in ashes “not the ashes of Phoenix”.

Number Six is the Crusaders or the New Aspirants of Power

They are the “Jokers in the Pack” headed by Nagananda.

They would do worse than Field Marshal Fonseka.

Number Seven is how many candidates.

There will be candidates to fill the front page of a Sunday Paper.

Ballot paper will be so huge it has to be rolled over several times like a “Toilet Paper”and not a sheet of paper.

Number Eight is the turn over at voting

It will overtake the record of 2015, if the current commissioner is handling it.

Number Nine is the outcome?

My current estimate is nobody will get the required 50%.

This is the only prediction, I will get absolutely correct.

Number Ten, what would the Current Commissioner should do before the election.

He should resign before a snap election is declared by the current incumbent after all Esala Pereharas are over.

My guess is that the current president won’t have any crowd gathering Public Meetings left for him and if he waits any longer, he will even lose the deposit.

The election commissioner would sure get a heart attack trying to balance the 50% from “Second Vote Counting” and only way to avoid that scenario is to retire in “Good Spirit” since everybody including politicians like this amiable personality.

He is a national asset. 

He will do a good job as a “Future President” elected by the members of the Parliament, if a new constitution is formulated on those lines saving colossal wastage of public money to elect a president.

All these guys wanted to abolish it in 2015 but none of them acted on that promise.

On that ground alone one should be disqualified to hold that post or reelected again!

That is the paradox of our politics.

5. A final decided by a weird rule and the worst umpiring

6. First time ever in cricket a team never won a match by runs or wickets but by a rule

Congrats ICC for the greatest ever comedy show!

As someone said, cricket is a FUNNY GAME.

Even though, I remained neutral throughout the Cricket World Cup, I made a very big mistake in my assumptions.

That is because, I failed to recognize, how the “Super Over” will make Cricket Cup Final a mockery filled with errors of judgment.

No fault of players at all but Sri-Lankan umpires and referee were at fault.

Unfortunately, South African umpire did not rectify it.

My assumption was umpires would make mistakes but in a 50 over game a team or captain can make amends.

I agree fully with Simon Taufel, the Australian umpire that the Sri-Lankan umpires and referees made gross misjudgment and wrong interpretation of the regulations.

Awarding six for five was wrong.

The fact, they did not check whether the batman had crossed was not a human error.

They had videos to view and ample time to make decisions.

My belief is that, they penalized New Zealand and favoured England to make sure that their umpire posts and referee posts are secured and extended for life.

These (umpire and referee appointments) decisions are made in UK and not in New Zealand, so they connived.

It is time for current referee to resign and ICC to make rolling appointments, instead of fixed appointments, especially if there is a case of error in judgment or negligence (not a human error).

Super Six is a Big Joke and a strain on already tired players.

It is not like penalties in football (instead a half a day play to 90 minutes in football).

When tied the Cup Should be shared to bring Glory to Cricket, its players and spectators.

Sharing should not be alien to any sport.

Only politicians and power hungry leaders do not want to share.

That is the trademark of politics. 

Umpires and referees should not be political (to save the job for life).

Our country is blessed with natural beauty.

To begin with it is not land locked but L.T.T.E wanted artificial borders to administer with Indian hegemony and secret service, RAW creating and helping it.

Currently under the aegis of lunatic fringes of sand stormed countries wanted it segregated and become political and religious desert. There are no democracies in these sand stormed countries with arcane laws, an antitheses common law.

We have four or five religions, none of them I call as great, since they are practiced in negative sense.

All of them have few positive but many negative social ingredients and we only extract negative ingredients including hate to practice.

Some counties in Asia with sand storm and no rain for over 10 years, the inhabitants are running away from advancing desert looking pastures for domesticated animals.

We have dry seasons but no arid zones.

We are near the equator with sunshine and rain year round.

In spite of all these blessings, gradually the rain is failing and patches of arid lands are forming affecting our majestic elephants.

China is the only country which has vigorous policy against desertification of land.

This is all due to felling of trees and commercially non viable agriculture (mono-culture-rice is one of them) policy started by C.P. De Silva and vigorously exploited in the last 10 years by the previous regime (especially cutting trees for timber without a replanting schedule).

Our biodiversity and forests are disappearing fast, thanks to tea industry and recently banana growing for Americans.

Banana and many of the exotic plants (cashew, pomegranate and soursop, included) were brought in by European invaders.

Banana plant is the most invasive plant and one cannot even grow another banana plant in a place where soil resources are exhausted in one or two seasons.

Then we add excess of poisonous fertilizer with all the heavy metals percolating into the rivers and lakes.

One cannot find even Guppy fish in Kandy (this is due to the detergents escaping from the washing machines of domestic use) water paddles collected in the city soon after heavy rain.

The detergents poison gills of fish and they suffocate in ten minutes.

Our only safety valve to control mosquito menace is decimated. 

 

Kunu Ela rightly named by me as Condom Ela, one can see underwear and condoms (in addition to diesel) floating and they get trapped in the water intake of Kandy city purification plant.

All these we call progressive steps.

What we lack is politicians who could mange problems in a cohesive manner.

Can the “Third Force” take these problems including corruption?

That is the million dollar question?

Maha Brahma and his Dog

This story was related to me by one of my yesteryear friends, not a doc but a dog now in high heaven.

I am well versed from the time of Maha Brahma’s Assistant who was a Kandy dog frequenting rubbish bins in Kandy including Malwatta temple and by some clever means twisted the arm of the Maha Brahma and managed to get the present post.

I knew the dog well and once in a way he sends me an errand of some sort by email. I cannot send any email to him because it is not permitted by law of the heaven for human to send email direct but there is no restriction of outgoing email from heaven, though, very randomly. I am told they use a type of Linux distribution where in the tradition incognito the log, memory and search routes and rules are erased without a trace.
I am trying to crack this and get some stories for earthling and I cannot wait till the next Buddha’s time and appearance which is eons away.
As a form of grace they release some random stories and I have the privilege of knowing the dog first and the current Brahma’s Assistant and by that virtue a few of the stories circulating in heaven.
The story predates his time (present Assistant) and this time it was a Pedigree Dog.
This pedigree dog was resident of a demented man who was politician of yesteryear.
He was demented because of his bounty of alcohol when in and out of power. But sadly he lived up to ripe old age of nineties, physically well but mentally demented.
The dog died soon after the master’s demise but because of his virtues and because he happened to reach heaven at the time of our New Year holiday, he was put on the waiting list.
There were quite a number of dogs who reached there at the very same instant.
Maha Brahma without an assistant, then had a great difficulty in selecting the correct protocol and the correct next round of births that they deserve.
Because this dog came from high office on earth he was very well noted by the Maha Brahma for extra credit.
Maha has a set of standard questions and it is very difficult to outsmart him.
He did not leave the demented politician now completely neglected by his party members, family members and the like but this faithful dog was with his master till his last few seconds on earth.
My friend told me not to disclose where about of this politician now but suffice is to say much less honourable quarters than his favorite dog.
In his conversation with Maha this dog had lot of questions from the Master Being.
The pedigree dog could not understand why the behaviour of his master changed in latter stages of his life with dementia who could not remember the dog’s name and used to call various odd names and forgot to feed him or fleece him.
He was very cross, telling Maha it was very unfair for a dog to be with a human in that stage of life and state and why only humans get demented and not dogs barring of course hydrophobia.
Maha did not have a suitable answer and he was impressed by this dogs devotion to his master when all earthlings deserted him high and dry including doctors.
There were lot of other dogs of lowly human settings including beggars, humbugs and the lot, Maha was pushed up to his neck and told the pedigree dog to wait for another day for a change and he could become his dog for a day and stay with him overnight.
This he could not decline.
He was so pleased with the offer did not bother the Master Being for even an overnight meal and went to sleep like a log.
Maha had other ideas and wanted to observe and test him before offering the next round of birth, the next day.
But he lost his first opportunity and in any case for his calm demeanor Maha was highly impressed.
The next day also Maha went on with his mundane routine affairs and was not ready with a place for our pedigree dog. That day was the same result, the pedigree dog that day went into dream mode thinking what a nice place he is going to get the next day.
This went on for a week and for some unknown reason Brahma had hit high on this week and was finding easy with his decision making.
In fact, Brahma was enjoying his company which was docile but very pleasant.
It was the same with the dog who had a very painful last few months on earth with the demented politician.
So he became less chatty and never asked any favours from the new master the Master Being himself.
Master also never offered a new lease or round of births by default.
Well Maha also knew one day when his term of office ends like the politician and when he has to go “he has to go” and he did not want to go alone.
Master needed a companion.
So the Maha and his dog came into being and they got eons to go.
So do not ever think of becoming the master’s dog or the master’s assistant.
 
They are on eternal holiday without fire crackers and assistant is doing the mundane rounds without a break (he loves it though being a descendant of Paraya or the stray dog clan).
In my case, I am looking for post of the server manager in heaven with my experience in hell this may lead to better and faster Linux Protocol and Administration there in heaven.

I.P.L., Cricket,Politics and Money.

I made few decisions sometime ago and they were the right decisions and I spend more time on Linux and Linux games now instead of cricket.

One of these decisions was to not to write about Sri-Lankan cricket.

Cricket Administration (Sri-Lankan) was so rotten and digging its dirty linen in public was not my intention and let mediocre journalists do that for their own living.

Second was I will watch only when it is played in good spirit and irrespective of the side to or the country one belongs when a player plays a good innings enjoy the moment and praise the praiseworthy and condemn the bad acts.

I am not Jeffry Boycott and I love listening to him on the BBC radio like terry Vaughan the Irishman.

Mind you there is an Irishman playing cricket in a flamboyant one day style English Team.

Can you believe that?

He always says don’t be diplomatic and his Yorkshire humour reminds me of the my Yorkshire time, which was very pleasant.

What it means is do not be partisan or make political capital out of cricket like the cheap Indian and Sri-Lankan soap opera (yesteryear) actors turned politicians.

I also hate people who take up politics while wielding a cricket bat and we have ample in this country.

I may sound anti-Sri-Lankan (I am anti-politician, does not matter which side they are in, who are corrupt to the core) too but that is my nature.

I may sound anti-Indian and but certainly not in Cricket and one example will clear any doubts.

There are many but I will state only one.

When Vivendra Shrawag, one of my favorite opening batsmen was denied a century by letting 4 byes and balling a noball next (all three of them are in our Sri-Lankan Team currently and it is a shame) and when his sixer was not allowed or counted, within seconds I vented my anger and blogged it.

This match was played in preparation for the world cup and we were the least prepared team then and it was wonder we came that far afterward.

That is the lowest we have gone (on the field and off the field must be too numerous to mention from selection to ground preparations) and on that count alone we did not deserve to win the world cup.

There are many including a bogus doctor looking after our team and many political insinuations.

The second incident was when Andrew Srauss played a brilliant innings and match was drawn in the Wold cup.

I said, a Star of Wonder was born for England and everybody was prepared to dish him out of cricket after their elimination at our hands in the world cup.

He may not be a brilliant tactician but a very good cricketer and today he proved beyond any doubt (by beating India comprehensively) that he is a test class player.

Now coming to what happened to India?

Many will be written in India but I will be brief.

It is the IPL which started the rot.

There was easy entry for Indian (Pakistani too) businessmen and bookies who were only interested in money spinning that ruined the cricket in general and Indian cricket particularly.

In this context Ravi Bopara’s act of not accepting the IPL should be commendable.

The second factor is too much of cricket and ICC should take the full blame for it (the CEOs also looking at money but not players welfare).

I feel sorry for Shrawag, Dravid and Tendukar (they have done enough for Indian cricket) but not for the rest of the team or on the bench who came up from IPL ranking and showing how good they are to the world. 

I have no sympathy for Dhoni too. 

He has to take the blame for not saying enough to BCCI and standing up to them and saying my warriors are battle fatigued and they need a decent rest in between major fixtures.

That is his crime.

I cannot forgive him for that error of judgment.

IPL in essence ruined our cricketers (Sri-Lankan) and our young prospects too and we won’t recover for decades.

That I do not care.

We present Sri-Lankan who cannot even fill a form in English at an airport love to have air ticket free and money on the sly, often illegal foreign exchange and lot of other dealing besides cricket (that include journalists, commentators and perhaps umpires too if not cricketers and their affiliated guys and girls).

What we need is national integration not too much of cricket or too much Sinhala jubilation’s.

I thank gods for losing the Worlds Cup (we made billions of Indians happy) and in England.

If we won our politicians will be basking in sunshine and doing sweet nothing for corruption at all levels.

They have to work hard and show the voters that they are worth the 5 years pension they get for doing sweet nothing for five years.

Politics and Money have ruined Gentleman’s Cricket, as it was known in the past.

I.C.C. CEO’s did not see it coming or did not wish to see it that way, anyway.

Final nail in the coffin was sending young cricketers to prison.

There was no rehabilitation for players.

Banning them for life or sending them to prison won’t solve any of the problems now ingrained in cricket.

It will worsen and young blood with correct frame of mind will not contemplate cricket as a career.

It is not worth the trouble.

In this background England will become the best test playing country.

But it has no meaning to Indians who are cricket fanatics.

Ultimately test cricket will also die a natural death.

What is happening in Australia is the dress rehearsal for test cricket.

It happened to great West Indies.

It will happen to India.

It has already happened to Sri-Lanka.

In Ceylon what ruined can be put in two words.

Politics and Money.

In India it were I.P.L, Film Stars and book makers.

I.P.L is an embodiment of money and the corruption that goes with it.

I saw it coming and stop watching cricket at all.

It is a blessing in disguise and I could now concentrate more on other vices.

Watching New Zealand Rugby more entertaining that cricket.

R.I.P for cricket in Asia.

Unfortunately, I have to say this before the Asia Cup.

If anybody watches these games he or she has to get his/her mind tested by a psychologist who does not understand what is cricket.

We all had this disease and thank god I am fully cured due to our politicians.

I sleep well and dream well.

This is my latest dream with its interpretation.

I was requested to come for an interview based on a national lottery ticket number.

Very strange and I could not formally apply.

It was something like the “Talent Contest” in TV, which channel I cannot remember.

The way it was conducted, I presume it was Sri-Lankan!

The interviewer was an attractive TV presenter lady.

She was dressed as if it was her wedding day.

I was dressed casually without a tie.

By strange coincidence, I was the first candidate to be interviewed.

She fiddled with the examination cards and question sets but she could not find my set to start the contest.

I thought I can take “Mickey” out of her with the false start.

Within the first minute, I acted like a teenager with a temper tantrum.

When I looked at the other sets, I saw all the bio-data of the other candidates piled up.

I said I cannot come again, you have to make the entry set now.

Otherwise, I am going away and won’t return and report the matter.

At this stage (having been an examiner myself) she new there is a breakdown in the system and she was answerable to her boss and was visibly nervous.

I said shall I put down my bio-data in a piece of paper to help her progress the examination.

She said No.

My objective was to have my own handwriting in the entry set, so that in a scrutiny, if I needed later, I can cross check the validity of my entry.

She then gave me a champagne bottle in her possession and started writing my bio-data.

Before she could finish, the bell rang and another examiner who was late for his part came in.

As he came through the door, I peeped to see the rest of the candidates piling up and the next in line trying to come in.

She took this opportunity to slip out and avoid me in good stead.

She forgot to take the champagne bottle in the rush.

The male interviewer was no better.

He started fiddling with the entry set.

Behold no entry for me.

The female interviewer took my set (she prepared) instead of the champagne (presumably to consume after the end of the examination) bottle.

I took this opportunity to taste the bubbly champagne instead of the bizarre interview.

I pulled the cork out with a pop (without a screw) and offered him a sip before me but he went wild and incriminated me of stealing at an interview and disqualified me in toto!

I woke up.

This was a bizarre dream and posted an email to Acting Maha immediately.

Before, I could take the finger out of the entry key, he was there with a big laugh with angle tune in the background.

Election panic in evolution and it is in a mess.

There could be hundreds and the ballot paper would look like a newspaper Sunday front cover with pictures to identify the candidates.

Isn’t it illegal to advertise the candidates?

We cannot but the new election bylaw states that the commissioner can.

So there is no messing up.

No Sir,the messing up comes in the counting chambers.

How?

One has to put numbers instead of crosses on the ballot paper.

The crossing we do with some anger but with numbers we get some paranoia of winning a lottery.

This time more than 100% might vote at the election.

The commissioner might not be able to balance the sheet and election petition would ensue sooner than late.

So we will be without a head for sometime.

It is good know.

Not at all.

It is very easy to steal and do corrupt deals in transition.

No convictions.

Or I see.

What is your interpretation.

This time the election commissioner would device a full proof ballot paper.

It opens with a pop, like when you open a champagne bottle.

Then the police guarding the polling station might shoot at the candidate and you may have few accidents.

Do you won’t me to vote?

There was an international conference on Religions to answer the Question, “What is Going On, Earth?”.

Buddhist representative was asked “Why there is so much Hate in Ceylon”?

His answer was simple: If we do not practice Hate as proposed by the BBS, then the other religions cannot see what it means by “Metta” in Buddhism.

Our Metta Buddha is eons away for reincarnation, we need to see him in real life to practice “Metta”.

Till then Hate is the default system.

Then the Next question is from a Hindu representative from India.

Why Krishna is not coming?

He said he was on holiday after India lost the World Cup qualification.

Siva is preparing the battle field for the loss and the only way to avoid conflict is an eon holiday.

Mind you according to my information, Maha Brahma is also on an eon holiday and a Ceylon dog (reincarnation) in heaven is deputizing him as the acting Maha and India is cross with heaven for electing a Ceylon Dog.

Then the Jewish representative was asked;

Why there is a delay in god coming?

His prompt response was unless all the Hindu gods are decimated they cannot take up with Muslims gods in real time.

That explains the delay.

Then a true Christian was asked;

Why there is a delay in Christ coming?

He said there is technical hitch.

It is very difficult to make a virgin pregnant.

It needs eons of practice.

Then questioner retorted “Why not try I.V. F for a change?

That is painful and it is prohibited to make somebody pregnant under sedation, anyway.

Then the Muslim representative was asked why the Delay in Your God Coming?

They are still trying to create their own heaven without Christians, Jews, Hindus and all the other denominations and that heaven has to be at a higher level than the other heavens and hells and the law of gravity does not permit such an event and the whole universe would explode, with a slightest of a mistake along with their creator god.

That is why the delay.

So I am assured, that the coming of god is nowhere in sight, it is a non entity in our time.
 

The problem with the above scenario is there is no room for a real atheist like me.

The reason being that most of the current atheists are not born atheists but converts who come from above four or five domains with some residual elements hindering clear comprehension.

 

Some of them are on the fringe of lunatic behaviour and concoct bizarre concepts worse than religions.

So open atheist forum is practically non existent in the current world.

I of course add spice into these confused forums adding another dimension called alien beings who may or may not visit us by chance coincidence.

The idea is to create lateral thinking (De Bono strategy) forums with philosophical gifts.

I have so far failed in my attempts to make a brand of enhanced emancipated beings.

 

I fear and I do not want guys and girls to end up in lunatic asylums and blog my ideas here.

 

I know nobody reads them except me.

Umpires made ‘error of judgement’ with overthrows – Taufel

The umpires made an "error of judgement" in awarding six runs, instead of five, to England for the overthrow that hit Ben Stokes’ bat and ran to the boundary, says former  umpire Simon Taufel,  after the World Cup 2019 final. Currently part of the MCC’s laws sub-committee that makes the rules governing cricket, Taufel told The Age and Sydney Morning Herald that England should have been awarded five runs, not six.

"It’s a clear mistake.. it’s an error of judgment," Taufel said. "They (England) should have been awarded five runs, not six. "The judgment error was the timing of when the fielder threw the ball. The act of the overthrow starts when the fielder releases the ball. That’s the act. It becomes an overthrow from the instant of the throw." Law 19.8, pertaining to "Overthrow or willful act of fielder", says: "If the boundary results from an overthrow or from the willful act of a fielder, the runs scored shall be any runs for penalties awarded to either side, and the allowance for the boundary, and the runs completed by the batsmen, together with the run in progress if they had already crossed at the instant of the throw or act."

A review of the footage of the incident - which took place off the fourth ball of the last over - shows clearly that, at the moment the ball was released by the New Zealand fielder, Martin Guptill, Stokes and his partner, Adil Rashid, had not yet crossed for their second run. Taufel also said that Stokes and Rashid should have switched ends once the run was found to be incomplete - which meant Rashid would have played the fifth ball with three runs required to win. "They did not cross on their second run, at the instant of the throw. So given that scenario, five runs should have been the correct allocation of runs, and Ben Stokes should have been at the non-striker’s end for the next delivery." 
Taufel defended the officials though, saying the moment involved many things happening at the same time. "In the heat of what was going on, they thought there was a good chance the batsmen had crossed at the instant of the throw," Taufel said. "Obviously TV replays showed otherwise. The difficulty you (umpires) have here is you’ve got to watch batsmen completing runs, then change focus and watch for the ball being picked up, and watch for the release (of the throw)," he said.

"You also have to watch where the batsmen are at that exact moment." The former umpire acknowledged the call "influenced the game", but said it should not be viewed as costing New Zealand the match - and the tournament. 

"It’s unfair on England, New Zealand and the umpires involved to say it decided the outcome," Taufel said.
