Why Linux Distributions fear each other?

Brand new Debian 11 is out.
Unfortunately I do not have the Data nor the Ethernet wire (dismantled) to download it and test it.

By the way, my Debian 10 is running smoothly why bother.

Traditionally I download and test Debian and it will.be soon when the lockdown is eased.

I have got my Laptop and PC ready for its testing.

It is strange that Linux distributions while cohabiting peacefully with Windows, fear alternative Linux distributions.

I tried Peppermint and Pinguy Linux to sandwiched between two Debian distributions in my Laptop devoid of Windows and both failed even before starting.

I think they look for Windows to be already installed and not seeing any sign of Windows give up.

This is after preparing the Partition Table with Gpt, perfectly synchronised.

This is the ploy UEFI has craftily employed to scuttle pairing of Linux booting in a PC or Laptop prepared with a ESP boot partition (using BSD of course).

I noticed this and used a FAT partition of  255 MB (with nothing in it) in the front of the  USB stick and then booting the Linux distribution of my choice, in the partition left in the USB stick.

All 32 bit Puppy Linux distributions need this leeway but FATPup does not care.

So I have FATPup installed in a tiny partition of the Laptop and then install the second Debian installation to gather all installed distributions in the Laptop in the grand GRUB boot loader.

Only Debian has the temerity to bypass UEFI having erased Windows using BSD.

In fact, I used TrueOS DVD I downloaded in 2018.

I think Linux Torvalds should look into this spy ploy and reserve a tiny 1 MB FAT (is void and cannot be used by Windows to eavesdrop) reservation and scuttle the desired objective of Microsoft.

New Windows struggling to give birth may have subtle insinuations but DO NOT fear it is going to fail like 10 within six months.

I would not have had time or the inclination to go into these subtle annoyances, if not for the Coronavirus incarceration.

I thank the pandemic for my divergence.

Usually once I get my PC or Laptop in running order by December, I have a long holiday in January and empty the wines.

I have given up wines to preserve my memory and sanctity, if Puppy Linux (dog is also gone) is not there I would have gone bonkers.

I am aware that a lot of guys including politicians have gone bonkers during the pandemic and Ceylon is a good example.

It is not due to the virus but due to the boredom brought on by lockdown.

An unhappy lockdown.

England, the Labour Stalwarts and the Decline of Principles

England, the Labour Stalwarts and the Decline of Principles

Before I forget I have to not down three names.

Not in order of preference or priorities.

Mind you I was a Labour sympathizer, then.

Not any longer.
No politics of conviction.
No religious affiliation not even academic conviction having not-registered as a practitioner in Ceylon over 20 years.

1. Arthur Scargill was a coal miner who became the Labour Union Leader.

He was personally persecuted by Mrs.Thather whom I disliked very much.

He disappeared from the scene with the money and came back to fight legal battles both within and outside the Labour Party.

He lives in recluse now rarely appearing in public.

He is in his eighties.

2. Ken Livingstone was a labour union leader who became the Mayor of London.

He started as a Council Member of Greater London and became the Mayor of London when that institution was formed.

3. Tony Benn was a labour activist and an excellent orator who imparted some religious favour to his convictions.

4. In this category Neil Kinnock was almost a total failure and lost 4 times to conservatives and remained as an amiable opposition leader to the liking of the conservatives.

5. Tony Blair who remained as a PM for 10 years tried to modernize the party and his "look like conservative party" has ruined it to the core.

6. Jerome Corbyn who inherited this legacy could not reform it to the current needs of the middle class and shifted towards the left and immigrants instead of the British Base.
Less I talk about current Mayor of London Khan is better for British Labour enthusiasts.
He is hanging on doing nothing of substance but he be ousted by a real Labour guy (like what Ken Livingstone did decades ago).

7. Keir Starmer is the ideal choice for the labour party to come out of the wood and lead a possible victory within a short time.
I have to revise my opinion below and he is a War Monger (ageist Labour Policies) and supporting War in Ukraine.

He is smart.
He is intelligent.
He is eloquent (unlike the oratory of the past without tangible actions).

He has the first hand experience in prosecution and should expose (no need to prosecute and an average intelligent British citizen would do that for him when the time is right)  the current wheeler dealer goons around the Conservative Party.

In fact, Conservative party members are already doing that for him.

Why waste energy but activate the young grass root level enthusiasts.

He has to extract the intent, purpose and  how the corruption insinuate even at health institutions dealing with Coronavirus.

Be patient but onslaught should be targeted and the conservative are corrupt to the core by nature unlike real labour activists.

I do not like the word socialists.

People are not equal but different at all levels but bringing them together with a common bond (every life young or old deserves dignity) is what an astute politician should do.

He should shun the paedophiliacs and sexually disoriented guys hiding behind the political garbs.

One caveat here in this country people appoint the most corrupt to the highest office and the parliament and they scratch their backs within 24 of declaration of the poll.

There are lot of Asians including Ceylonese who have come to UK with their trade marks of "absolute corruption is the only way forward".

That will be the path (absolute corruption) for UK if Conservatives remain any longer.

Do not take this as a wishful political thinking but a common sense approach to any human endeavour including mitigating the pandemic and it's effect on an average guy.

They have no money in their hands and living on "hand to mouth existence'.

I saw this in 1970s in Ceylon and history repeats itself with only a little difference, democracy is shutdown totally and a dictatorship has come to stay with the blessing of corrupt Sangha, for 5 years at least.

He is not answerable even to Almighty.

People are STUPID after all, all the time!

FATPup 64 bit Version

FATPup is an outstanding piece of Puppy work.
It has done another first for me.

After I erased Windows I could not use the SD Card slot to mount a bootable Linux distribution.

I just mounted FATPup on a SD card.

The two USB slots are now available for file transfer, mainly photos.

I do not have to stick a bootable USB.

But puppy is shy to install on a partition, I especially made for it.

Does not matter one does not have to use a terabyte of a hard disk for Puppy Linux.

I am installing another copy of Debian 10.9.0.

I found something interesting, afterward.

I made a special partition in the hard disk for Puppy and installed it but it did not boot from it on it's own.

Then I installed it on SD card and from it FATPup booted.

Well and good.

Then after I installed the second copy of Debian it recognized the Hard Disk installed Puppy and installed it on the ESP partition made using BSD.

Now I can boot Puppy without the SD card mounted.

The Xenialpup (Ubuntu based 64 bit) that is installed in a USB also can be booted from the same Menu.

Everything in one place but after several rounds of trying.

You may ask why two copies of Debian?

Debian has several Desktops and I try all with a different user.

The user name is either a dog or a monkey.

Yes, I am monkeying with you.

I would not have done any of these fancy stuff, if not for the Coronavirus, lockdown.

I am informed Debian 11 is on it's way.

That distribution is for gadgets that come after Coronavirus recovery.

I have over 100 Puppy CDs most of them under 200 MB mini CDs and Never on a single DVD (booting Puppy Linux).

FATDad trophy should go to Windows.

None of Windows could be booted with 100 MB.

They are all bloat ware.

FATPup started with 325 and went up by another 100 or about to 450MB.

I am talking about less than 500MB and getting my work done.

FATPup has LibreOffice and I want AbiWord as my roll master.

Having said that I could have downloaded AbiWord and remastered my FATPup but I have no DATA and I cannot go out or if I go out I want get a reload.

They are all closed due to total Lockdown, except for food stalls.

The plus point of FATPup are many.

1. One can make a boot USB under 4GB.

2. Once installed in a USB one can boot either in BIOS or UEFI.

I have one USB made for my BIOS PC.

The other USB is in UEFI.

I had been struggling to erase the Windows boot Menu in my Laptop and used TrueOS to do that with lot of preemptive precautions and steps.

None of that with Fat Puppy.

Download Fat Puppy.
Write a bootable CD.
Then boot the CD.

Make a UEFI USB and go to hell with Windows boot Menu.

Alternatively if you in old BIOS make a BIOS USB.

Now it seems ridiculously to boot the Laptop having a terabyte SATA Disk with only Puppy Linux.

I have already installed two copies of Debian, (I deleted one of them to install FATPup internally) in my Laptop, so I need not try FATPup any way.

I have four other Puppy derivatives that can be booted from the Laptop/PC but it took lot of thinking and reserving a 255 MB for a non existing Microsoft Windows in my Laptop.

FATPup did not care it prepared a UEFI bootable USB.

I think all Linux Distributions including Debian fear Microsoft.

It was BSD that erased the UEFI with its ESP partition which Debian used subsequently to prepare the boot Menu.

I thank Coronavirus if not for the forced incarceration I would have been doing something else.

Any way Puppy Linux came to rescue  and it is not a pure Linux Clone but an entirely different booting and operating system.

It came from Australia.

Barry Kauler is the first developer and he is retired but others have moved Puppy Linux forward.

Puppy Quirky 64 bit 7.2 Series

This is just to day I found another 64 bit Puppy derivative.
It did not have Gparted but let me use fdisk to partition a Micro SD card which I could not do with Gparted.

DD to delete
O to open a partition table and
N for a new partition
1 for number of partitions.
That it.
4 letters and one numerical character my the Micro SD back to life.
I am using it to instal Multiple Linux distributions including Knoppix 8.2 with a persistent volume and MultiSystem and Gparted included.
Debian does not let you Install in a USB or SD card (simply its volume is overwhelming) but get the files in and with a Debian DVD-1 in hand for reference one can install it using the USB.

Thanks Quirky but you were considerate not to erase my 16GB saying it only readable but not writable (overwrite).

This is also all time fame one can save to RW DVD.
I did not have a writable CD to test it.
I tried to ease the RW DVDs with 1999 cricket.
I could not.
I have made them once writable permanent copies.
Without Windows (off for 5 years) I cannot watch them.
Nothing to lose and save time to do something valuable.
I do not watch Ceylon or Indian Cricket at all.
The Coronavirus is the end for IPL.
In a way it is good for cricket in general.

Why I say we can run our affairs without Parliament and its Impotent Members

The Coranavirus has exposed the fallacy that we need a parliament to run our affairs.

In fact, current president has muted the parliament for his ad hoc method of governance.

I will go bit further, that we do not even need, a president with pompous.

This has been shown over and over in World history. All have failed if not first in the second round and they were ousted and went into exile or oblivion.

At the moment the country is run by intelligent and smart citizens doing their part without any supervision.

There is no MaC Mafia or Pathale or underground network operating now.

There are no third party dealers.

Ordinary vendor is coming out with his goods and bring them to the doorstep and no added charges asked.

What a turnaround?

The third party dealers are the ones that hoards good when prices are low and dish out the last season rice when price is artificially jacked up.

This mode of operation is supposed to be run by government goons and politicians with power.

This same ploy is applied to the vegetables, fish and any other perishable item.

Now producers have taken an initiative to deliver the good to the doorstep.

Marvellous idea at a critical time.

No need to go to the nearest city or township except liquor.

I think the liquor may have come down in price with dealers marginalized.

The price may be cheaper, even lower than the production cost.

We do not need government servants supervising these activities.

What we need is the Village Headman or the Grama Sevaka only to certify the guy we ho is doing business is local.

We do not need police investigating irregularities in transport except checking the driving and vehicle licences.

Things have simplified for better and the cost has come down.

We do not need Vasudeava to use P letter words and drive the people engine.

Without them people can run affairs efficiently.
It is said in business less control the better the outcome.

More control more problems.

In fact, Tamils in the North managed their affairs both during and after the War with minimum of Government.

I is happening in the South by default thanks to Coronavirus.

It is sugar, flour and Parippu or dhal the government need to worry and import, if they have money in the Central Bank.

It is empty by the way.

They have spent money on useless projects.

The road development that had been dragging for years in out neighbourhood is completed with less supervision by the government.

That is something outstanding.

It is the local astute business men who can do the needful, having removed the goons of government in power (it does not matter who is in power).

ClickUp Entanglement

I got this ClickUp utility through Google.

Not that I wanted even to Test with payment basis.

It  was an enterprise based software and tries to be comprehensive from the outset.

In my analysis it was a complete entanglement without escape route.

Within a few minutes I was overwhelmed and I gave up.

I have done work in large scale management in private sector and developed my own simplicity solution without getting bogged down.

It is called delegating responsibility and my job was to concentrate on bottlenecks throttling the output.

In a workplace there is flow of work and not every where is chocker blocked with activity by design.

This program assume that scenario and network is always live even with no activity in some areas.

Workplace is not set of desks, decks and boxes and this programme unfortunately had boxed them all tight.

I lost interest and the application is sitting in my Android to be deleted as and when necessary.

I am not a busy man but I do not want to be boxed in like the cat in and cat out dilemma.

I decided to be the cat out not in.

.

Word Processing, why they have become bulky?

Computers work on input and output basis.

If you put garbage in garbage comes out.

This principle applies to word processing, in general.

I downloaded a simple word processor to test in Android.

It did type all right, I could not transfer the three lines to my email to be sent to my blog site.

This is the third time I have come across this problem.

Sending to an email is like sending to the printer.

The document that sits in your Android, computer or an old typewriter is a useless as a leaf drop (it is called apoptosis).

I do not want the three word lines to sit in my Android or become apoptotic.

Those three word processes I deleted or uninstalled immediately.

No surprise.

Except AbiWord I have not found a single LIGHT WEIGHT word processor that does super efficient word processing and page formatting.

NONE.

They have Macros sitting in them and try to accomplish multiple instructions in One Go.

That is why one has to redo the document even after checking the draft print.

Every paper typed or printed does create to trees being felled and in that sense digital typing should be precise and each instruction should be precise, so that the output is going to be crisp.

If you take LibreOffice, it has to cater for a large number of languages and put all that languages, in the initial installation of the Linux distribution and then delete unnecessary ones at the end of the installation.

A waste of time.

The right way about should be to give the light weight basic construction code to the particular country using the particular language and the country then  develop the big final structure with their team.

With Coronavirus hampering large international gatherings, in one place, a smaller team in individual the country can do the bulk of the work.

Scaling is necessary and mandatory.

The One for All is a Failure.

Google doing transliteration even though practical  is not the way about addressing this universal problem.

I do not like patch work but that is what is happening.

For my part I stick to AbiWord for my work.

If I do some typing in French for instance. I will take back that document to AbiWord in early stage and reduce it's bulk and send it by email, if I wish.

Browsers and Privacy

There are plenty of browsers out there.
I use Dicky Duck which is coming from Linux base.
I was addicted to FireFox browser for my computer and never used Chrome.
But having used Firefix mini for a while, I went back to Ducky Duck which is fast and not at all intrusive in behaviour.

If you are paranoid one can use Incognito Browser or Brave.
I have all these in my Android but even Ducky Duck I only use as a single user every time.
Just using my common sense.

There is no browser history to begin with.
It is smooth and fast.

I do many things at once.

I do not one one interesting with other or simply snoozing.
This is why had written a very bad comment on Application Manager III which was doing nothing but sticking in my phone.

After my comments and relating for the 4th time it did not haunt me, but let you know if it does.
I do not want browsers to haunt me but by default Google does it.
I hope in future it behaves better.

Plant can Sense

I am not talking about touch sensitive mimosa pudica but all the plants I care for.

They sense me on daily basis if not hourly.

The interruption by rain made me to be indoors and a welcome respite for me, without watering.

If I do not water they wither away in no time and removing the weeds is a must.

All these make me to touch them and I often remove the leaves wilting away to reduce unnecessary transpiration.

Well they have flowers to greet me and insects.

Only the Wesak Orchid refuses to bloom for nearly 30 years now.

I have added a few more orchids to entice.

Might work?

Never a bee seen nowadays.

They just know that I am around but cannot say it in words.

If I am not around for 10 days most of them in the rooftop garden wither away.

So it is similar to a dog left alone and not cared for.

Unlike wild plants the plant you cared from seed level totally depend on you.

So do not take gardening lightly.

Take it to your heart and it is good for your heart unlike the pet fish.

Regarding the guppy fish the magpie comes and gobble them in the morning.

I have no way to prevent this crafty bird doing it's bird round daily.

They are short of food, I guess.

But it's sweet music is to divert your attention and moment you are not around they gobble the guppies.

The guppies are in plenty they have enough leaf cover but the stupid ones come out of shading and are the targets of magpie.

The honey birds spent their hold day sucking honey but they are always hungry flying for feeding but some have learnt to rest on branches and feed.

This is when you are not watching them.

Otherwise they retreat but lately won't care when I am around BUT not gazing.

The daily wild crow is there whenever I feed the fish.

They are looking for bread crumbs.

There is always plenty left.

Even Booting Puppy Linux is Painful due to UEFI

Even booting Puppy Linux is painful under UEFI.
It was a very easy BIOS days.

I have over 100 Puppy Linux CDs I tested a decade ago.
They were loaded in cases with puppy photographs for easy identification.

Most of the 3 and 4 series cannot be booted in 64 bit computers.

I selected two of the 5 series to install in two spare USB one 4GB and other 8GB.

They both have AbiWord my favourite and many other utilities including Gparted.
Unlike present Gpart application it lets one select one drive instead of all.
Then easy to partition in a Flash.

I installed both in a usual universal installation setup.

Installation went right but it won't boot.

Then I tried the old Flash Boot method and it won't boot after installation.

Then I examined the USB to see 255 MB reserved part of the USB for windows boot up.

Not UEFI partition but a similar reservation.

UEFI was not in existence when these Puppy Linux derivatives were popular.

The UEFI strategy was to kill Linux installation at boot up time.

I am still not using UEFI but still using BIOS option but  have to give Microsoft Windows, "You Go First " type of a push up.

This is why I hate Windows.

I am not using Windows for about 10 years and the last in the Laptop which came up with Windows was erased using BSD, 5 years ago..

How to erase Windows for good is illustrated here in this blog space using TrueOS CD.

Usually one need to have an Internet connection.

I had to have two partitions even in the USB.

One doing nothing at all.

I tried even Ex-4 partitions and they cannot boot without first 255 MB reserved for Microsoft.

I do not know how France and EU deal with this direct interference.

I had to try for 7 days and I figured it out at the end but many cannot see this business ploy.

Application Migration III

This is a very nasty application.
It gets your permission and stays like a snake under the grass.
It reinstall itself without your permission.
It pretend to transfer an application and FREEZES at 90&.

I have removed it's installation for the 4th time today.

I am sure it will come again from the backdoor I have opened but I will Unstall it again and again.

I do not need it.

I have been using Application II to bring down 200 applications I was using.
I have deleted 35 totally and still had 165 left.
I took off the 4GB Micro SD card and put 16  GB card and tried this application III update.
It is running very very badly.
First of all it secretly hang around even after removing it's installation it go on boast about it's application performance showing  it's promise in sort of a video display.

In other words virtual memory but does not do a thing.

It is very very slow with frequent advertisement freezes.

For the third time I had installed it and after two applications transferred to SD taking hours it practically disappeared from my phone.

Thank you for your flight and I will never use it again or recommend anybody to use it.

All this tactics is to lure you to paid the paid subscription.

Not worth a subscription at all.

If you PAY you are stuck with this application.
It will be like a hungry leech having a meal after one year.

Utility Value of Linux

Utility value of CD/DVD Linux is unparalleled but value of a Unix book written by a panel of experts cannot be overridden by a single utility displayed in the Web.

This is what has happened to The Web and it's Education potential.

A guy or girl in early educational level having learned few tricks posts as Gurus to gullible web users.

I believe they have never red a book from cover to cover including related references.

In fact Web has become a hindrance.

I used to write a piece in the blog site when ever I encountered misrepresentation by rivals and I will continue to do that as a teacher for adults for a lsignificant part of my life.

The teachers job is not to spoon fed or make DIY at every turning corner but to guide him through the MAZE of misinformation and come out unhurt or broken down in soul but enrichment.

The Grand Web has failed miserably.

It is politically FAKED news

But academically it is the misrepresentation of facts in a statistical sense or a forum.

I have over 4000 books including about birds gone into extinction in Ceylon.

I have over 400 CD/DVDs which I have used at least once.

But I move on, not to the next best thing but to a utility that is light weight.

In the days of Windows, I used Open Office for productivity and to remove Macros.

Moved onto LibreOffice but my workhorse still is AbiWord which takes about few MB of RAM (I have a piece here about it in this blog post).

The pdf or the portable document with only a few KBs does my job.

Coming to png or portable network graphic, I use GIMP for editing my photos and when sending out through the Web it is converted png.

Microsoft till recently did not have pdf or png facilities but millions use it and clutter the Internet traffic.

Thank God the Android another Linux derivative but commercial one, came into squeeze  Microsoft by it's bulky neck, if not it's trunk.

One company cannot rule this world.

Unfortunately China and it's OS and cellphones trying the same spoilt exploits.

It can do it within it's borders with an iron fist but not in the democratic world exploited by big companies including Facebook and Twitter.

Linux Desktops and Productivity

This is to disagree with some of the comments circulating in the Web by paid pro Microsoft (rather micro shaft) guys and girls.

The simple letter signify my intent not to dignify the business trend and money.

It comes from two philosophies.

1. Small is beautiful!

2. Software ought to be FREE with ability to tamper with the CODE.BASE, so that there is no final product but an evolving ecosystem.

Linux does both with front end desktop's commanding status and back-end rigid style of organization.

I mean command output from a black terminal.

I never configured a server in Linux and let the router with Linux Samaba like utility to do me honours with 13 computers at home at different levels (all dismantled now).

I always hated black terminal but my output sky rocketed when X-system was adopted for user friendliness in desktops.

My current love is Plasma Desktop coming from Mandriva and SuSe KDE desktops background.

I did not like the rigid commercial Redhat default desktop.

Now coming to Desktops if you install Debian 10 in your computer you have all the desktops in one go in one installation.

When you boot up with a user logging you can pick and choose your own favorite desktop.

Coming from Puppy base, I use dogs names or monkey names as user logging.

Bono or monkey is my favourite user name with Gnome Desktop.

Other users will have a different desktops.

Our dog Zimba has his own desktop and all it's photos and few videos in that home folder.

I did not have a good video camera 10 years ago and Zimba passed in away 2016.

Then two years of relative hibernation and now coming back in style with Puppy in USB stick and AbiWord (removing all Macros from LibreOffice) doing the page formatting effortlessly for publishing.

So do not listen to these command guys and others struggling with micro-shaft word processing.

There are over 60,000 utilities in Linux and pick only the 10 you use frequently.

This piece unfortunately coming from an Android Nokia.

The Lineage OS is not popular yet and standalone cellphone production is stifled by Chinese mass production and trying to entice with their own OP system is ridiculous attempt.

I DO NOT use cheap Chinese products including margarine with short chain fatty acids that destroy your liver (not alcohol by the way).

They break down in less than a year of warranty and my intention is to boycott Chines products at all cost.

Puppy Linux

This is a short note on Puppy Linux.

With 64 bit computers ruling the world, unless one has a 64 bit compatible Puppy image, one will find booting from a CD or USB impossible.

I am testing all my Puppy CDs and I will report here what is working and what is not.

Basically series 3 and 4 do not mount on 64 bit computers.

Out of Series 5 some boot.

Precise, Racy, Rocor and Slako and others do not.

Slako has a beautiful desktop.

Old Puppy images Emulate KDE, LXDE, GNOME and MATE desktops.

Some have their own desktops.

I have over 100 Puppy CDs and I am going to have several of my favourites, booting from USB.

New ones have bulky LibreOffice, especially, FATPup.

I want only AbiWord.

I believe in "small is beautifu*";philosophy and Puppy started like that before FATPup came into existence.

It actually started for accessing Internet on the go using a USB without any other utilities.
Basically a light weight browser and a XML reader.

Then the puppy grew to and dog.

I use Knoppix for big work with a persistent volume but I use Puppy for light weight jobs often not saving any additional files.

I have one USB right protected by me using a strange sh script which I have all forgotten now.

I cannot erase the USB and reuse it.

I do not think I used a root password.

I was trying to erase it and there was no way I could accomplish it.

Linux has a way of respecting ownership.

I have own to disown the files in it (mostly MultiSystem boot images)

USB are meant to be erasable and reusable.

Not in this particular USB that I have fiddled with

Same thing (basically a corrupted partition table) has happened to a 64 bit Micro SD.

Please do not by USBs with over 32 GB.
It is far better to have a bigger capacity SATA external disk.

I am just erasing all unnecessary files.

My PC has enough storage space.

When I was working I use to have portable rewritable CD/DVD since USB was known to carry Microsoft viruses.

I never had any problem with viruses.
I once erased my entire hard disk while booting TrueOS of BSD origin.
I had fallen sleep (I used to do this well past midnight) and after waiting a while it erased and installed TrieOS on my 120 SSD primary disk.

Fortunately all my data were in the secondary disk.

I have once erased an external SATA disk with data.

I always keep two copies of important data and some in DVDs and having started using Linux never lost a file.

I do not have a single Microsoft or Windows file.

I erased the last copy of Windows in my Laptop 5 years ago.

It has now two copies of Debian 10.

This has a better View

This is from my other Nokia cellphone which has a better Camera Eye/Lense.
Mind you Google Lens interfere when posting a photo.
I think they should let the cameraman does his job.

Now the Twitter Nest is Exposed

Having tied the mango branch to the cement pillar, it is better exposed but cellphone is not a gadget one use in photography.
I used my camera for better photographs.
I am not bother to upload them into the PC.

The Twitter Nest Covered a by Mango Leaf

Havari Nuga is the tallest on the rooftop garden..
I could not notice it covered by the mango leaf.
The brood has left a long time.
Single thread can still stand the wind blowing across.
Twitter's wind physics much more advanced than mine.

This is how you a write book with AbiWord on USB

It is very simple.

You need not want Windows.

Unfortunately Debian does not support AbiWord.

There are other options since AbiWord is light weight and has no operating gear or system to boots on it's own.

Even FATPup is supporting LibreOffice.

Download XenialPUP or PrecisePUP and make a USB bootable stick.
Both of them have AbiWord as a default application.
It can be included in any Linux distribution and it's footprint is small BUT it's versatility unparalleled.

Android not supporting it has no concerns for me.
I will never get to start writing a book on Android unless I have a Mouse at hand copy and paste functions.

I recommend minimum 8 GB stick but even 4 GB stick is good enough for pdf files.

AniWord can be saved In many formats including LibreOffice and Words.

AbiWord's strength is it's precise page formatting.

Then working up that file saved in LibreFormat in LibreOffice is pretty easy for a final touch up.

Boot your USB either in your Laptop and PC and start your first Novel without Internet.

I have already started a book on Puppy Linux and my other book on laptop is top secret for the time being.

I am not going to miss Grammerly and other typefaces which are actually a hindrance to my writing style.

By the way Androids do not support AbiWord, the alternatives including Notion need connection to Internet with clutter and  unnecessary interruptions.

I need Internet connection only when I decide to publish.

Do not waste time on LibreOffice and Words, then have Gorrila sized image.

By the way, advertisements are the biggest hindrance.

Lucky not to be born in America!

I am referring to me not America or Americans.

I would have been spoiled by the American Industry which dumps so many gadgets as toys.

My parents (American patents) would have given me gadgets not books with substance.
One line about my father, who bought me gadgets and before I could master it it is given as a gift to a guy who won't appreciates it's value in  face and deep.

That annoyed me a lot but being wiser from my young age never expressed my inside to parents, teachers or any sundry.

Building stuff stopped from a polish tin microphone and a speaker.
It worked in one of the school exhibitions with long wiring but nobody took notice of it.
Dished out as primitive.

They even ignored the collection of leaves I displaced with intent (why the particular texture and form).

So I knew I am not going to have good teachers to spoil me and I built up my own scheme (nobody believed I could ever enter the University, it was for the Exclusive Club).
In America I would have been inundated with promotions and luxury of my talent at a particular point and Microscope would have been a gift and there onwards one way track.
In Ceylon I could not buy a digital microscope for my research work.

I bought a Children's Microscope from Amazon spending my own money and it was one dished out cheap since the new model was coming.

That microscope enough for meet to photograph a selection of my slides.
Job done.

Being in Ceylon we get gadgets decade or more later once they are dumped as not worth.
My entry into networking and PCs two decades later, I believe.
The entry of Linux was a by product.

The cellphones was the last I got interested in and I earned how to use one of them from my daughter..

The name was not Apple but GreenTel.

I was interested in Fdroid but it never came to Ceylon.

The whole idea is fabricating Google Android.

Pone OS has come out when interest was waning.

Good on my time and cash.

/e/install cannot be downloaded to a cellphone. it has to be downloaded to a PC with the cellphone jacked into the PC by an esoteric wire.
I have pulled out my Ethernet Wire and no Internet.
There is no WiFi mode of installation.
Very primitive even for Ceylon.

What is the benefit for Ceylon, the Pine phone and its OS?

I will go back to my writing mode in Debian and AbiWord is out of my use.
Figure out to use it via a USB which I have in plenty.

Puppy Linux may be my saviour.

I would have gone bonkers, if not for?

Yes what kept me going on during the pandemic?

It is simply my assortment of Nokia cellphones and one basic Samsung cellphone.

I would dispense with the 3G basic, first  with two SIMs.

That has limited applications and I carry it out for communication and bit of Internet.

That's all.

The Nokia had over 200 applications and my is my Internet Workforce.

I deleted  the rarely used applications  by 35 , to boot it fast but still it boots slow.

I use utilities to minimize the boot up assembly but they never work to my likings.

I have found Spike and Spark that do a lot to bypass unnecessary emails and clean up the mess I was in.

I found this Notion utility that organise the short notes.

But it needs running  Internet connection.

I also found this useless (in my convention this means in real terms) Pitch without an application front that tries to hitchhike on Notion Utility.

Please do not try it.
Waste of time.

A useless lot of crafty Internet Guys that consume your data.

I do revise my French with my cellphone.

The boot up menu "application organizers" are pleasing and give you options  at boot up.

They manage clutter mind you there are over 165 applications in my Android.

There are lot of browsers that include incognito ones but I use Linux based Ducky Duck.

I never use bulky Chrome which is blocked by default  using system  application utility.

But my biggest concern is Writing Utilities.

AbiWord is not supported due to overriding influence of LibreOffice.

WPS also want you to sign up.

There was a Writer Linux CD (32 bits) that a writer developed but it was live only.

I still have this CD for demonstrations.

I want somebody to use its source code and adopt it to Androids.

Going for Apple iPhone fixes you to one company.

It is against the Free Software Foundation initiative.

I don't want to go to PC or Laptop and use Grammerly in my old age.

Mind you virtual typefaces are many and SwiftKey has French support.

Unless one ditch the cellphone in old age or go adapting to the ecosystem, one is at a loss.

Unfortunately most are fixated to Microsoft and Microsoft is trying hard to catch up with Google with new business tactics.

Me ditching Microsoft two decades ago was my rejuvenation in IoT.

The age old tradition of rebooting of Microsoft has come to ail Androids too, if you are editing a large file and writing a book on Android is not visible on the horizon.

Me going back to laptop where Debian stands tall is the only viable option.

Catastrophy, is it manmade?

Time has come to.say good bye to.this blog site.
It has nothing to do with Google's and Gmail's strategic diversions.

It was coming for other good reasons.
Number of visitors and Coronavirus made me to revise my decision.

I will end with my analysis of recent misadventures in the sea.

The same logic applies to air travel now beginning to come to life again.
With expansion of Internet human.travel is redundant except a break for holidays, barring Coronavirus spread that seems not to nose dive but skyrocket upwards.
That was my prediction anyway and human behaviour is the main culprit and reason.

Catastrophy or Misadventure occurs in Medical Field, too.

1. Number one in my list is fatigue.
Man or woman is designed to work  under 10 hours or even less.
8 hours seems reasonable.
8 to 9 hour mandatory and not necessarily in one go. One short snooze has many advantages.
Any excess of coffee or tea does not change this physiological protocol.

2. Number two is underlying sickness.

3. Number three is alcoholism.

4. Number four is sea sickness not the sea sickness of first seafaring but the psychological factors that affects concentration, attention and focus to minor details.

5. All these can be lumped together as negligence of the supervision protocol of the industry concerned.

6. Failure of maintenance of the ship and every piece of navigation equipments and protocols.

7. Number seven is premeditated sabotage that seems like natural catastrophe to an observer BUT to claim insurance compensation.

This is a strategy Ceylonese are good at.

There was a guy who faked an accident and placed a cadaver to claim insurance.

Other standard method is to fake political victimisation.
A guy came to for full body X-rays claiming he had an accident on the way to Ratnapura.
I worked there for one year and travelled  every two weeks home by bus and I knew every nasty comer of possible accident and he could not tell the exact place of accident.

I refused and later found out he went to Australia and I never saw him again.

In the scenario of the ship that is sinking anybody conspired to the last item I mentioned above they should be brought to justice.
International organizations should hold their independent investigation and keep it without public disclosure until our report comes out first.
Then we can judge who are the culprits and who is going to cover up the misadventure at collosal environmental costs and impossible clean up provedure.

Walk Down The Memory Lane

Coronavirus, Walk Down The Memory Lane

This piece is very long as long as 6 Kilometers I walked today.

Original plan was to walk 5 Kilometers but I extended it by one more, since walking was unhindered by vehicles except for an occasional push bike or a motor bike.

Mind you there were many three wheelers breaking the travel ban.

I had no fear of 6 Kilometers, since I tested my 70th birthday to Dunhjnda Ella running with younger guys and girls.

Walk was similar to the days of curfews and fear of bomb blasts with soldiers manning every junction or turning point but without any fear but few standalone prowlers (in fact, one I managed to avoid having noticed him.from a safe distance before he noticing me) that I hate.

I must make a note of this guy.
His instinct in survival mode is exemplary.
If he entered the University  (my goodness not here, they destroy all potentials and hopes  in one solid year) in a foreign land he would have ended up as a professor of economy.

I think he has more money in the bank than me.

He is a cash dealer for the desperate.

In fact, he was dealing with a transaction with a guy, so that he failed to notice me.

His modes operandum is to pose as a vagrant anywhere in this Island from Colombo to Peradeniya.

He begs as a living and has built up a composition  to go with his trade.
I believe he had vouched not to follow his father but build up his economy.
He puts the money in banks with high interest rate.

The interest he pawns outside the bank.

So he gets double interest in the same piece of Ceylon notes.

Incredible!

If he is not paid back he comes out with raw filth in public.

Without knowing I assumed that he is a vagrant and used to give him money starting with dirty 10 Rupee note but gradually it went up to 100.

Now I give him money through third party and Coronavirus was my reasoning and I told him one day, that I will give a nasty blow to his head if he interrupted me in my routines.

He never begs in the Kandy city and in the city I never dish out money to beggars and tell the police to take them away.

The Kandy Police does a good job of it.

By the way, he  may have tried Kandy but would have been evicted by the Some of Kandy guys in the prison.

Somme was a guy who killed a guy in front of Bandaranayake Shopping Complex, Kandy and went to Bogambara Prison before it was shifted.

He never stayed in prison but his nominee would be in prison but he was out and running his underground  business.

I once so him as a kid but I have no memory of his appearance, nothing of outstanding note but an ordinary guy who has done the homework of survival in the Kandy prison.

The boss of the prison and had prison guards running behind his tail.

Any murderer builds up his reputation.

Coming back to the economy professor down under, I think he has had a bad deal as a kid, simply because his father went to prison and his father's right  hand chopped above elbow.

That stigma followed him.

His younger brother who was a good metal worker.
One day, I saw him wrestling with his own brother.

I intervened and stopped it since I knew the economy guy but not his brother
.

Now the son of this not well known guy was an ace thief (a family trait, I believe) and he was in prison by the age of 15.

I have not seen him after he went to prison and his father who tried to make a responsible living probably was heart broken and died prematurely when I was in New Zealand.

First of all let me say every dog should have  a home and stray dogs at Galaha Junction were left without food.

I did not have any to feed them with all the  pastry shops closed.

My favourite dominating bitch and her clan were not visible at Panideniya.

My guess is that with all the food stalls closed and all the private buses not plying they would have enticed a few in the neighbourhood to their living quarters.

Dogs are very intelligent and their perception of our current human predicament is better than PhD psychologists
.

The second mention should be the cleaners and they were working non stop, including the workers loading back the mettle loads left by the builders in a main junction and the builder carefully watching every piece of mettle being loaded.

The third goes to the British Architects who designed and executed the University and the Botanical Garden where I enjoyed a long stroll in my young days as an undergraduate and a graduate.

I wish they stayed little longer till 1960s like in Singapore but our STUPID Bandaranayake clan and his party RUINED all prospects due to his/their POWER greediness.

I guessed he read Bertrand Russel's book on POWER while in England and craftily used segregation tactics and politics and we are still entangled with the rigmarole (or is it the tight GRIP) of the SLPP.

Now the British Design in Peradeniya is better than both Oxford and Cambridge which I visited as a foreign traveler but never wanted to be a resident in both which an average Indian "prize" so heavily.

Peradeniya was to me the real home with ample room for a healthy stroll.

The city has gone into hibernation and only one place, I admired was a little children garden built on the refuse dump of yesteryear and a little water garden in front with ONLY red blooming lilie.

I would have never allowed my children to play on a rubbish dump where tetanus and nasty anaerobic bacteria thrive even with and attractive grass top.

Anyway, that is how we progress in this country.

Children parks should be purpose built like Disney films.

In a country where Legos are not sold in shops how can we expect grand children parks?

They are made to cram for scholarship examination from the age of two or three years, grand children's park is only a wishful thinking.

Coming back to original track, I have a specimen of that the lilly which bloom everyday in the morning and fades away by 2 P.M.

Little more about other lilies later.

I think this was (children park and the pond) designed by a Lady and not a man.

Now coming to Rubbish in Kandy and KMC (Kandy Municipal Council) had a very practical way to dispose rubbish before plastics came into existence.

In public health (thanks to Professor Malcolm Fernando) appointment we were taken to these dumps in Nittawela (going by its name a rich paddy field filled up to accommodate a rugger ground, later), Guhagoda (dumping ground  of raw faeces of bucket latrines, where Infectious hospital was located during British times) and Peradeniya (never Panideniya where Kithul trees were plenty during British time) and what a colossal contributions humans make daily and it is increasing and a waiting catastrophe with population expansion.

Regarding paddy cultivation, the British probably hated rice and dumped garbage on paddy fields.
The stretch of roadway and railway was built on the Nuwara Wela and Bogambara Prison was where part of the original lake was located.

If you read Professor Anuradha Seneviratna's book, you get a better picture of Kandyan aristocracy.

Now in the Bogambara prison there was a deep well and the Nilames and Dingiri Manikes dumped their gold and silver before their subjugation
.

The prisoners also dump their illegal telephones and pistols to the same pit.

There was a ha hoo that the prison was shifted and one can view it free.

I went there for a early entry and we were prevented.

I saw three helicopters airlifting the loot or the content of the well.

We heard nothing after like what happened to gold airlifted after the end of the war.

All those helicopter guys were missing or sacrificed after the loot was completed and same logic stands for Bogambara looting
.

There are guys in this country who loots prisoner's possession before their term ends or their demise under mysterious circumstances.

The TRUTH is hurried and hearsay stays with some exaggeration.

It is hazardous to become a helicopter pilot both physically and politically.

The economic cost withstanding!

Now coming to Nittawala grounds before it was abandoned, players use to get nasty illnesses.

Probably the Late Dr. Karunatatne has a role in.decommissioning this disease prone ground built on rubbish.

The preamble is over and I tell you NOW, all the nasty things I noticed even during a total Blockdown, in my sphere of activities.

Mind you, I do not go in the opposite direction  to Gelioya or Kurunduwatta where a nasty guy from SLPP has made the life of an average person a misery
.

Only twice I went in opposite direction to the nearest Branch of Bank of Ceylon, when the road from  Peradeniya to Kandy was closed due to unruly action of JVP inspired strikes in the Campus which I boycotted in theory and practice.

Today, I had only Rs.100/= in my purse and I had to walk to the Bank with rain impending and forecast pending by Google (not BBC).

A.cloudy day without much humidity an ideal day for walking.

I was stopped by my wife yesterday and all the gear was ready except the bills to be paid.

I was up by 5.30 A.M and there was no rush to find the unpaid bills.

Had only a tea and two pieces of cake (the current bread is awful without butter and jam) and with only an umbrella in my hand and the empty purse with only two bank cards.

The debit card I dispensed with, a few years ago to avoid heavy interest rate.

I have stopped the land phone calls totally having told my intention twice or thrice in advance to my friends to stop paying unnecessary TAXES to this failing military government.

They failed us with COVID and I have recorded those events in correct scientific perspective, in this blog space (in Retrospect  and PostScript).

Today is about my stroll not politics.

1. From our home to Panideniya shops is  "Maranthika Tract" on a busy day with traffic.

Two have succumbed in this stretch in one morning and sadly one was a Muslim guy who saved my life many a time jumping to moving vehicles on my right side, in my rush to the  morning lecture (to catch the bus).

The bus from Panideniya take half an hour for a five minutes trip by my car and there was no parking lot, then (which we developed about 10 years later).

That part is renamed by me for the rest of my life as "The Maranthika (deadly) Tract" and will never walk on when opened to public and private traffic.

2. The next stop is Penideniya, which I called "The Appiriya Town I".

There used to be only one "Appiriya Eating Shop" and now the whole place has become an Apaya (hell) Tradition.

There is a big puddle of water in the middle of the road in addition.

No buses today blocking my view.

All shops closed.

There is 90 degree angle at this junction and there used to be a mirror to help road users but no more.

3. Third stop is the Peradeniya Township, which I am at a loss to rename it but slightly better than Panideniya.

Will call it "Appiriya Township II".

I think I am going to have a break for a bit of Coriander Drink (my standalone recipe for COVID not time tested yet).

Now these are few things I remember out of the many forgotten observations.

One day delay in recording helps my memory clean up unlike a cellphone or computer.

Loss of bad memories is a blessing at all times.

1. The approach road relatively clean due to heavy rain washing the RUBBISH to a stream that joins Mahaweli River.

But where buses were parked crushed up foreign illegal cigarette packets were in plenty.

The police say they have stopped this menace but Panideniya is the standard route for smuggling drugs, too to university undergraduates.

I won't go into details how Mahaveli Ganga is used for transportation where only the road is checked by police.

I believe police do not want their boots to.be wet.

2. The rock behind the petroleum station fully exposed is covered by a large polythene sheet.

Handy engineering feat.

3. The Bridge is littered with rotting rice packets.
I believe left for dogs and even.dogs repel the smell of them and do not partake.
Mind you, rice rots in a few minutes unless you put the left over immediately into the fridge.

The British outstanding construction stands tall and only Lankan addition is ugly cement payment blocks, to the approach of the bridge.

There are many cracks and gaps between the blocks.

4. Beyond, the bridge was a big iron frame hosting Buddhist Anniversary of 2600.

It is ugly and why it was not removed after the celebrations, I do not know.

5. The Galaha Junction was peaceful only one post left with, all the rhetoric in words washed and blurred.
To see this place without banners and posts was a long term dream of mine.

Why police has left one piece?

6. There were three dogs and only two on my return
They are at a loss but guard the place two years after closure of the campus.
I wish all graduates if not undergraduates should salute Ivor Jennings and only dogs seem to have taken that into heart.

7.The Peradeniya Botanical Garden closed.
Right in front is the ugly entrance to the Children Hospital blocked by large number of three wheeler drivers.
Ugly sight and site.

I vehemently opposed the idea but politicians prevailed.
But the political name stands
.

However, with the pandemic that is the only final resting place for some unfortunate kids.

8. The Rest House is no more but sold to a privateer.

9. At the Bank of Ceylon only three using the till.
The Mount to upload my cellphones ZIM was out of order.
Apart from.withdrawing cash uploading data was my intention.
I have to come here again.
Two trips for two jobs.

10. The veterinary hospital was open and they were busy
That was good and that is the reason I did not see many stray dogs.

11. I did not bother to go up and see the hospital I worked for nearly 16 years.
Yes, I came out never to return even for a guest lecture.

The newly built research laboratory closed.
By the way, it never opened after colossal amount of money spent.

12. Finished my job, I got a bright idea to extend my walk  to Royal Mall but after a long walk I found it closed.

13. The Cargills near the 3 way junction was closed.

14. But crossing the railway track was easy without railways running.
Bit about railway tracks later.

15. The laundry my regular visiting place was closed.
I have only a pair of cloths to collect.

16. All the "plants shops" closed.
Anyway, I have stopped buying exotic plants for two years.
It is too much caring for them but I collect seeds.
My paddy seeds are sprouting and replanted plants are doing well.
I will report on paddy experiment when I get the first batch of seeds.

On my return I saw one shop opened and selling seed paddy.

17. The return trip was not eventful except avoiding  bumping into that shoddy guy.

18. Coming home empty hand was not my intention.
All the fruit stalls were closed.
There was one lorry selling vegetables.
No fruits.

19. On my way up even the two Ram Banda shops were closed.

20. My strategy to stall was noted by a guy who  ran the smaller Ran Banda shop to open it's door.

Before me a young guy rushed there and bought 3 bananas.
Mind you Rs.40/= a piece.
Obviously hungry with all the food stalls closed.

He offered me the rest of the bunch and I said I want a big bunch since it was Ambum my favourite.

Rs. 600/= down but added two medium sized paw paw each for 150/=  to balance the weights in my hands
.

My maximum carry weight of mine is  5 Kilos now.

21. Long walk home and I decided to walk on the railway track which is straight unlike the  windy road with ups and downs.

I could rest on a bench at the railway station, if I start panting or the rain intervenes.

22. I forgot that the ground to platform was four or more feet high to prevent by passers using that route.

I could not make with my legs.

Transferred  the load to one hand and gripped the iron railing firmly and with a mighty intention got one foot up and the other came up naturally without dropping the ripe bananas, with a sigh of relief.

Physical coordination counts at old age and do not try the impossible.

If I plan a long walk, I make sure there is company (not a dog by the way) but Coronavirus has made that luxury unavailable.

I surveyed the ground plan of the tracks which is concentrated in one point with criss crossings, which my physics brain could not figure out.

23. The reason for taking this route is to see the little pond there with lilly flowers.
Unlike the one previously mentioned had several varieties.
The little carp fish I used to feed is Hugh Now with its mouth and nostrils or gills at surface level unable to go down when a stranger comes near.

Obesity is a problem even for a fish, especially gold fish.

Do not over feed them.

24. I raised up the hill and my first intention was to down two bananas and that was the total calorie cost of my walk.

Do not eat them like a kid at half way stop what was meant for family consumption (never mind even if nobody eats).

25. The final bath becomes much pleasing with sweat all over me.
But do not rush to the bathroom until the body cools down.
It is really not physiological and the body cannot handle it which I have learnt without a sports master, in my days.

26. Mind you I paid the water bill and Telecom bills on my return.

They checked my temperature and it recorded 35 and I could not believe (which I expected to be around 37.8 at least).

I think Chinese have dumped all the cheap digital thermometers in Ceylon and please do not believe in them for use in Medical Practice unless you have  a mercury thermometer to verify.

That may be the reason the Coronavirus is rampaging now in Ceylon.

27. I had a peep at Galaha Junction for my fruit vendor's stall  but closed.
He generally has good collection of bananas.
Mind you I hate Seeni Kehel and renamed  them Rubber Kehel.

28. The two schizophrenics who have the typical fixed routines were at Peradeniya looking for food and shelter from rain.
I avoided any mode of communication fearing any fixation on me.

29. The fearsome old women or Archchi was seated in front of her boutique without any sail items.
She terrifies anybody who tries to overrule her dictatorship.
I think she would have done a better Woman President role than our current incumbent.
She is down to earth in her management of the few stalls she dominate and she has seen their natural development and changing hands over the years.
She probably in her nineties and I have never seen her full standing stature and all the instructions are relayed to the back of the stall verbally and a acted upon.

I used to go in and buy the pots sold there especially during new year.

I do not think she recognized me with my grey hair and half grown facial hair.
Mind you I used to wear immaculately, those days, perhaps even with a tie
.

30. I do not know how these three survived to old age where now I find even climbing high steps daunting.

Probably they are fixated to the place they love and do not want to depart to new lives or a new round of births.

Attachment is the substance of Rebirth, according to Buddha

Standard SD cards and MicroSD cards can be painful to erase and partition

I tried to erase all data from my MicroSD cards not in my cellphones.

The idea was to copy some films from my PC and watch them by smart TV.

It was painful to erase them.

May be because I am using only Linux.

With Windows it may be a different story, I believe.

They can.handle only FAT partitions.

With 32 and 64 GB carfd,  Linux prefer them to be partitioned them with gpt but they won't Boot or Mount afterwards.

No problem with nonproprietary MicroSD cards.

Baba Tree Frog and Mama Tree Frog

The Coronavirus Pandemic Psychosis and declining mass scale human activity have  given lease of life and respite to the animal kingdom, especially to birds.

But an important reminder first, when Chinese come here in numbers, the frogs, toads, crickets, cockroaches, wiggly worms, snakes, snails,  bats, birds, squirrels, rats, fish, crabs and lizards will disappear in.a season.or two.

No need for chemical pesticides.

They are in fact, global pests already,

Now welcome guest today was a tiny Leech.

If given an.opportunity I breed them in millions as.a business adventure and gift them to China who is.leeching us unhindered having tendered longterm term loan.

I have good reason leeches produce something similar to heparin and they can harvest this chemical as a treatment for vascular thrombosis in vaccinated patients with a higj.price tag to.cover their esoteric laboratory investigations.

Little twitter and the honey bird have lost their fear and come very close to human (our) contact at all.

In fact, I noticed a little nest on the tallest Bavaria Nuga tree made from a single leaf twisted round and padded with wool like stuff (probably from dogs hair).

The brood has gone away and I remember one mummy bird was keeping watch but did bother to investigate.

The twitter is very secretive and avoid contact at all costs.

It took a long time for to identify the bird making the typical.twitter sound.

The paddy birds are long gone and all the available  paddy land is filled up by the developers.

In this scenario, the common frog has lost its habitat.

But once a year a tree frog comes to lay eggs.

This time round I believe two of them have come.

I missed the first one but baby tree frog was in my toilet to notify that event.

How it reached the toilet was only a guess work probably from the high window.

I caught it after trapping it for a little while and put it into the outdoor fish tank.

Then today big mama tree frog was considering entering my bed room and I accidentally touched her while going down the steps holding onto the railing.

Mind you I miss my steps, if I do not hold onto the railing.

I pass it down to low blood sugar (continuing on one square meal and a little snack when hungry) but in reality the old age is catching up with me.

It took few minutes to figure it out how to catch it with one leap of more than 4 feet long and I cannot simply match it in.old age.

Mind you, I was very good catching grogs for dissections, A Level days but after the last catch I decided I would  never catch and put any under gas (forget the chemical starting with S).

I finally trapped it against the wall with a little basin but there was nothing to cover the top.

Finally I slid the rubbish tray underneath.

This in the dead of the night and without a torch I could not go out to land her on the fish tank.

This is of course not a guy/girl to land on the ground or water but in the darkness leapt into a tree branch and I lost sight of her.
Mind you she is a regular visitor probably bit lazy and wanted my help to catch up with the last 10 steps (easily 3 jumps in her capacity).

With belly full of eggs, she was tired and was asking for some human help.

The lesson is not to.help these guys of nature.

They remember at least the last encounter with you.

Fortunately I never see lot of tiny frogs.

I do not know why but there is a predator.

Most likely common Katusss or lizard  and not the skunk  or chameleon.

They have come and gone already.

Linux Distributions and Their Compatibilty

This is a scathing remark on some distributions except Debian which I regularly use in my SSD on PC and the Laptop and Ubuntu I never used but has spawned many good forks including MutliSystem DVD that I use to make Multiboot USBB and SD cards both standard and micro.

I must recommend Emmabsntus Debian.Edition for you at the beginning.
Once installed unlike Peppermint it has large number of applications on first boot and one need not waste downloading missing applications.

Having said that AbiWord is missing in all.

I hope, in the near future Androids will have AbiWord.

Most of the distributions except Debian and BSD while very subservient EEFI booting Menu disregard other Linux distributions to promote one particular distribution of one's interest which is against the general common spirit Linux.

I use AbiWord for my work but no distribution except Emmabantus supports it.

Of course one can download AbiWord after base installation but I have pulled out the faulty Ethernet wire.

No Internet.

Additionally no WiFi gadget in my old PC and the Telecoms and Dialog do not support a pure Linux PC with WiFi USB.
.
Only Windows, they support.

I decided to update with Peppermint, PCLnux one my old favourite and perhaps Mandriva.

BSD takes over the hard disk with tank pools and won't dual boot and is out on first count.

I have downloaded these long before Coronavirus pandemic and no need for me waiting for a iso.

Now my decision not to use UEFI was a very prudent decision.

Mind you SSD does not have a MBR partition like rotating disks.

SSD boots only one distribution.

While old rotating disk can boot up to 15 distribution (for testing in my case) but I rarely go beyond 7 distributions in one terrabyte disk.

One for root and one for the home partition mean only 7 installations possible.

If you have rotating disk do not discard it for a SSD, keep it as a precious possession.

I always have two huge NTFS partition for DATA and never touch them while making changes to the partition.table, many times round.

I think latest Debian support reading Androids, I believe but I have not tried my cellphone on Linux for a long time.
There is no data except photos in my cellphones which have been transferred to the NTFS..

I think, without a USB port due to Android's thin design cellphone cannot be used as a workhorse.

1. Leaving those comments behind, Peppermint has minimal utilities and without Internet, it is useless to me.

2. PCLinux is a pain and boots without a separate  ESP but in one mega partition.
It won't let you partition the disks to one's own needs.
So without BIOS help it is redundent.

3. Mageia has problem with GRUB.

4. Ubuntu I have already commented.

5. MXLinux I did not try.

6. SuSeLinux I have not tried but an old copy on a 8 GB USB is pleasing.

7. Knoppix does won't to be on a FIXED hard disk but mobile and portable.

8. Pupply is very similar to Knoppix but Light Weight.

9. Redhat and Fedora I have given.up long time ago.

10. Emmabanrus, the Ubuntu version I have not tried for a long time.

11. PinGuy has gone into latency.

12. ZorinOS I do not have a copy but I never liked it.

13. ARCH is too difficult to handle.

14. Absolute Linux takes over the hard disk.

15. Endless OS is good but it takes over the hard disk and no.dual.booting like BSD.

One need Internet to make full.use of its enormous software store, all pulled out from the Debian repository.

My advice for a novice is to try one distribution and.master it before going for another distribution.
They almost have the base from Debian.except Slackware, Absolute Linux  and Arch.

So me Debian is the Winner after all and trying other distributions is just a hobby for academic reasons and a bit of nostalgia for a guy.who used Linux for 10 years less than Linus Torvalds.
