GNUSTEP Live CD – a live CD based on an operating system, (also known as a distribution) contains a lot of software for GNUstep, a free implementation of the OPENSTEP and Cocoa framework (which was also the base as Cocoa on macOS). It includes an excellent application called Gorm for RAD (Apple Software Design Guidelines).
GNUSTEP Live CD is a Debian-based Linux distribution that comes with the Window Maker window manager, basic networking, multimedia, and games tools.
GNUSTEP live CD 2.5 was released after 8 years off and is based on Debian of teh stable 9 “Stretch” branch.
Previous versions of the system were based on the Morphix and Knoppix distributions.
Live image comes with preinstalled applications such as: Gorm for RAD (Apple Software Design Guidelines),
The system used SysV instead of systemd as the system and service manager.
The project developer since 2004 is Alex Myczko.
How Civilizations End?
This is to add to Carl Sagan's predictions of scientific nature.
But my presentation is slanted on Buddhist view.
By the way, Buddhism is cosmological in nature and when Gotama Buddha was described by Ananda as a colossal entity, Buddha in his own unenviable way said that there were many Buddha's before him who were formidable and that comparison should never be made.
Instead his teaching or Dhamma precedes in any future discussion which also would last, only a limited time frame.
I think we have exhausted that time frame already and the World today with impending World War III, is a classic example trying to finish this Civilization in a moment of insanity.
Mind you there were lot of tribal or internecine wars in India when Buddha was spreading his Message of Wisdom.
Buddhist teaching is based on state of flux or constant change in all phenomena Worldly and Mental.
Buddha's focus was internal mental formations and not external.
One has to try by oneself without external inputs.
His last words at death bed was
Uppamadena Sammpadetam
What it means is all phenomena are constantly changing (instead of wavering the mind on those changing things or Dhammas) but strive to understand his teaching (without wasting time) in this life, not in the next life.
He also indirectly meant the life time currently is limited to 100 to 120 years and there is hardly any time left which is being wasted on mundane stuff.
War is mundane by default.
He did not want to go beyond 80 years, in his mind and if requested he would have lived another 40 years.
Ananda Thera was given the chance to make that request but he could not grasp it, at the moment that offer was made.
This piece is cosmological in nature and about world systems of enormity and constantly changing.
In a nutshell, all advanced civilizations end themselves when they achieve advanced technology, like space travel etc.
They also develop advanced technology to carry forward mutual destruction or MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction).
We have come to that point already and we seem to enjoy that scenario by American and Ukraine standards.
Give me more weapons of destruction.
I love destruction by all means, is the goal of Zelensky and his cohorts in UK and USA.
I am not defending President Putin and I am totally against any form of war (we had internecine war of attrition in Ceylon for 35 years and we are starving now) but stating the fact, that there is a limit one can push him (Putin in this case) and his finger is NOT on the button, at this moment.
A think Poland wants the button to be pressed and directed at them instead of Ukraine.
This is very funny world of politics.
Give him some respite by ejecting this Mad Man or Joker without Z or Elensky.
He is a CIA consort in sleep and in day dreams.
Pentagon not being astute and dragging the decision making process under their feet, at this critical juncture.

Netrunner
Netrunner
Netrunner Linx has no derivatives but is independent and started its life in January, 2017.
Netrunner is a Debian based distribution featuring a highly customized KDE desktop with extra applications, multimedia codecs, Flash, Java plugins and a unique look and feel.
The modifications are designed to enhance the user friendliness of the desktop environment while still preserving the freedom to tweak.
It has moved away from the rigid architecture of the KDE desktop.
Using it was a whole new experience.
Having not used KDE for long time, it was bit of a pain. Nevertheless, I went ahead and installed it in my NUC.
It is certainly, trying to stay away from new Plasma tweaks. However, it had 373 new updates at install time and installing them was pretty slow.
Getting the Standard user installed, instead of the Root was unusually circuitous. Login for a user space was not obvious. I had to click the login icon of the Root to find the user icon to type in a user name.
Additionally, I did not know how to install new applications. When I clicked Updates icon, it opened up a File Manager type of utility, incorporated within the Updates. The Graphical set up for Installation was merged within the Updates which was strange.
It lacked a standard Package Manager or Installer for the limited KDE applications it supported. I had to look and search for the applications I needed individually. Thankfully, the applications were organized in an alphabetical order. When installing an application, “No Query” for dependencies was requested as in the case of Synaptic Package Manager. It goes on downloading and installing applications “Clicked On” in an ad hoc manner, all at the same time.
Not one application at a time.
This was the reason for inordinate delay in installing required Updates as stated above.
All these nuances made it a clumsy experience, for an experienced Linux Guy..
Having said that, Netrunner is one of the best KDE Desktops with a modern look.
It gives a pleasing desktop experience.
It supports Synaptic Package Manager and that is an accolade by itself.
What it means is, I can test Gnome applications on top of KDE Desktop. All these days, I have been testing KDE applications on top of Gnome.
I am having the best of both Desktop Worlds in one instance.
Using Synaptic, I installed Variety desktop effects to make the rigid KDE desktop looks dynamic at the user level. I have no hesitation in recommending it to a KDE lover who loves to have a completely new experience.
The right hand side of the desktop looks like the cellphone interface, however without the icons to select. The names of the various applications are arranged in an alphabetical order on the right side of the desktop.
That itself is a beautiful, feature.
I wasn’t satisfied with that and decided to install Gnome on top of the KDE desktop, using Synaptic Package Manager. It went into a frenzy mode not knowing which desktop to choose Gnome or KDE at boot time. I did not bother to check the Debian version and I ultimately ended up installing Debian 11 as the core.
It appears as, the KDE kernel belongs to the older version of Debian 11.
Who says, I do not make mistakes but it was a happy mistake.
I generally have two Debian, Gnome versions installed in my PC.
The older version and the latest version, just to compare the look and feel of both.I really liked the Debian 11 desktop which was my favorite with tiny dots to click, select and activate, an application.
It is a matter of picking and choosing the current application, I am working on.
With only 320GB space available in the SATA disk, I do not fancy installing Debian 11, in addition. Instead,I have three instances of the latest Debian Installed in my NUC. Each Gnome instances is used for a different purpose. If for some reason, trouble emerges, which never happens, I can fall back to one of the other two instances to get my days work done. When free time is found, I reinstall the Gnome without erasing the /home partition and all three instances are available for use with the working data intact.
With the new version of Gnome, the KDE version is mounted separately without conflicts but only the “Desktop Look” appear different. By the way, Netrunner was the fourth distribution installed in my NUC.
I begin to like it.
I had problem of installing Abiword on Debian 10.
That problem is negated now since, I can install Abiword using Synaptic Package Manager.
Netrunner even though, KDE based uses Synaptic Package Manager to install new applications.
By shear stroke of luck, when Gnome was activated, I activated the SNAP Software tool along with it and now, all the missing applications are on top of the KDE desktop.
A happy accident.
NetRunner
Net-Runner-2 is an excellent distribution for a newbie (to Linux).
Even though it is in the middle weight category (MB) it has everything one needs if one is connected to the internet.
It is a mix of KDE 4 and Gnome without the groggy grossness (Graphic intensity) of Suse and Mandriva on the graphic (face) front.
They have done a good job of integrating and mixing (it is neither tea nor coffee) the two.
K3b is a value added introduction.
Software management is good and in the tradition of Redhat have placed the packages in categories to select.
Only missing package for me was Skype to download.
I hope they will add it next time around.
Another value added contribution is Gambase (for newbies to do visual basic like programming).
NetRunner is something one should have in one's wallet.
Change over rather the mixture (cocktail) may have teething problem but surely nothing the Linux developers cannot address.
Well done boys and girls.

Last Chapter in Singalo-Vada Sutta
Last Chapter in Singalo-Vada Sutta
This is last chapter Singalo-Vada Sutta in old English.
I was looking for Singalo Vada Sutta in English for ages but could not find.
I was convinced Buddha did not go into our life beyond 8 precepts.
I was wrong.
A comprehensive guide of 14 acts.
I list them without any order.
1. Partiality hit me first.
Do not follow judgement on your fellow beings specially your spouse.
2. Control your anger
(I was a guy with short burst on daily basis).
3. Do not lie.
4. Do not steal.
5. Do not be a fool.
6. Do not try to be a professional.
(It invariably applies to me).
Last two I forgot.
Re-referred the text
7. Fear
8. Impurity of what?
Note there is no reference to alcohol at all.
That was revealing.
Having a tot on the sly is it allowed?
The last SIX (6) was the most important.
Do not associate with bad friends.
1 Number one is, do not associate with an alcoholic friend in the bar.
Unfortunately, I did not read this before finishing my book on Charms of Alcohol.
Poverty
Strife or conflict
Disease
Loss of character
Shame
Impaired senses or faculties
Public display of one's personality (good in my vase) and bad in All Ceylonese including Wira Wansa with Racial rhetoric.
Of course Pu....ke, Vasudeva included.
What Buddha says is associating with these guys leads to financial meltdown.
I immediately gave a call to one of my class mates who had lot of bad friends and was really an alcoholic.
Strangely he was in Temple and I told him to Teach the Young, the Singalo Vada and practice it yourself.
2. Number two dicing or gambling.
3. Idling and sleeping and getting up late and loitering with your friends in the night with shadowy beings.
4. Becoming a libertarian including 'woke' culture guys.
5. Going to films, theater, dancing and singing with your buddies.
6. Associating with outlaws cheats, swindlers, rouges, that include some Prime Ministers and Presidents like Zelensky in Ukraine.
So in actual fact Buddha had American Neo-colonials in mind 2500 years ago.

Thun Man Handiya or Three Way Junction
Thun Man Handiya or Three Way Junction
This was a dream.
I felt sleepy while downloading the Open BSD Installer Utility for my laptop.
This dream is current, relevant and ambiguous in context.
Ceylon network or the Telecom is SO slow, I fall sleepy and won’t wake up even when my Linux box gives a tinkle once a file is downloaded.
I am getting fed up of Linux since guys and girls are scared of Microsoft cronies and won’t vilify (becomes an impotent Willy) the UEFI boot distribution (it is not a boot loader).
Whereas BSD and OPEN-BSD erases it in a flash.
The story revolves round a wheeler dealer politician (was called 10% and now 100%), current D.H.S (the post not the person) and our poor Punchi-Sincho.
They were asked to go to a hermit sitting at high bench created by Bodu Bala Sena converts at a three way junction or Thun Man Handiya, under a young Kaputu (planted by craven dropping) Bo (pipal tree).
The whispering was that one gets what one wishes and only the first three will be offered the raffle tickets.
All of them have to wash their hands from a heavenly borne automated detergent dispenser (more expensive than the local Lifebouy make).
The tickets were named expressed Currier delivery, standard postal and slow delivery system akin to Rs.5000/= dish outs by Samurdi Niladharies.
Of course the politician demanded the express delivery.
By virtue of his high post the D.H.S. got the standard delivery ticket.
The Punch-Sincho got the left over ticket by default of the other two, which was the slowest.
Mind you the hermit was an ex-traffic warden run over by a politico.
All three thought that they were eligible for air tickets to heaven.
The hermit job was to direct them to the appropriate self serving dispenser routing them to the correct path or the roadway.
He was not supposed to tell where they lead up to.
1. The fastest one was to the coronavirus cemetery.
I wish all our politicians end up there.
2. The standard one was to Seychelles.
I wish all our public servants who sleep after mid day meal at the desk be sent there as supervisors!
3. The third one was to heaven but with a caveat.
He had some option to delay his entry to heaven if he has some outstanding dues in his homeland.
Punch Sincho thought to himself and realized that there going to be elections (he was a betting addict), round the corner and would have one more betting opportunity before entry to heaven.
This he told the hermit and the hermit warned that it would be a dicey choice and the coronavirus would be with us for eternity.
Hurry up or lose the heavenly aboard.
Just like me Punchi Sincho decided not to wait for a vote to elect undesirables to the hell or the wheeler dealer legislature of Ceylon.
Come to think about it our D.H.S should have gone to Seychelles and attended to (delegating the post to the new army guy) the 35 odd guys and saved Ceylon from another pocket of risky spread of the virus.
They pay you in dollars which has simply gone up by rocket science trend due to fast printing of currencies by the new head banker with poor credentials.
