Window Managers and Debian Gnome

Window Managers and Debian Gnome

By the way, even Deluge torrent has some problems.

There are ton of Window Managers in Linux but only a few are functional.
As I have included them in my book "Linux Essentials" for the last two hours I have tried all of them available.
Most annoying part is inability log out from a session and mind you each of them ask for the password for mounting.

Things that do not mount in a Gnome session are;
Openbox
Dwm
Twm
Pekwm
I3
Ratpoison works only with keyboard. Does not configure mouse by default.
By the xmonad is NOT a Window Manager but probably a terminal emulator.

Things that DO mount in a Gnome session are;
Original Window Manager WM
Awesome
IceWarm
Fluxbox

They are not Desktops like Gnome or KDE but are useful in managing window decorations and look and feel of Windows on a desktop.

By the way, if you do not like Gnome try MATE (light weight) or Cinnamon Desktops.
I have all 3 of them and they have the log out feature by default.

Running Parallel with Ceylonese Economy and Ice Cream

I think it is relevant to make some comments about our economy with some direct parallel to our eating habits.
I love ice cream.
I know people love ice cream.

If there is little extra money they always spend that money for ice cream.

In the Kandy City Center I never had an ice cream from that expensive joint.

I go to Soya Center and take a big ice cream plastic tub home.

This habit comes from my stay in United Kingdom. Even on a freezing winter I used to enjoy the gelatinized ice cream cones.

They were huge and two cones would last a day.

I have not lost the penchant for sugary stuff including doughnuts, French croissants and baguette or French bread stick with garlic butter.
All these things including butter is becoming very expensive.
Let us not talk about cheese.
These things are basic in the Western World and they all are kept at a reasonable price.

Let me start with Elephant House cafeteria in Kandy and Colombo.
Fountain Cafe Ice cream was the best.
Fruit and nut ice cream was out of heaven.

Come Sirimavo Regime ice cream sauces changed to coconut jaggery honey sauce, not Kithul honey.

That is the economic connection.

N.M. and the L.S.S.P clan decided not to import foreign flavours.
We decided to leave the country and that is the natural inclination.
This trend continues to this day, the young leaving the country.
They cannot go to UK or USA but go to Dubai.

Even our time going to USA was very expensive. I decided never to go to Disneyland to save money and buy a few computers instead, which is making my retirement worth living.

After all ice cream is not an expensive delicacy.
Even a fruit salad without the topping of ice cream is unthinkable.
I think like Mary Antoinette's phrase, if there is no bread eat cakes.
We might have to say "Bath Naththan KiriBath Kapan".
I cannot think of an alternative now.
If the party in power does not support basic needs they need to be evicted after one term.
I want go to rice and coconuts for the time being.

If you get health advice from the present government that eating ice cream is bad, please do not listen to them.

Make merry when it is sunny.

I have a few problems.

Unlike in Ceylon, here in Australia, I cannot have ice cream during winter. Unlike being young in UK with very cold winters, even the relatively mild winter cold gets to my bones.

Old age and cold winter do not go hand in hand.

This love for ice cream has no age barries, religious barriers and race barriers.
Even jaggery has gone up in price.
Forget about cashew nuts.

I hate to see only foreign visitors enjoy food and delicacies.

Average citizens who elected this Gorenment deserve good food at reasonable price.

This Ranil Policy of Taxing on basic food stuff including Ice Cream should be vigorously opposed.

What happened to Ranil will befall AKD in no time.

People deserve a better choice in food if not politicians.

Why tighten the belts when the rice are plundering our assets?

GNUSTEP Live CD – a live CD based on an operating system, (also known as a distribution) contains a lot of software for GNUstep, a free implementation of the OPENSTEP and Cocoa framework (which was also the base as Cocoa on macOS). It includes an excellent application called Gorm for RAD (Apple Software Design Guidelines).

GNUSTEP Live CD is a Debian-based Linux distribution that comes with the Window Maker window manager, basic networking, multimedia, and games tools.

GNUSTEP live CD 2.5 was released after 8 years off and is based on Debian of teh stable 9 “Stretch” branch.

Previous versions of the system were based on the Morphix and Knoppix distributions.

Live image comes with preinstalled applications such as: Gorm for RAD (Apple Software Design Guidelines),
MPlayer (GNUstep port),
Preview,
GWorkspace,
GNUmail,
ProjectCenter, and GNU TeXmacs.

The system used SysV instead of systemd as the system and service manager.

The project developer since 2004 is Alex Myczko.

How Civilizations End?

How Civilizations End?

This is to add to Carl Sagan's predictions of scientific nature.

But my presentation is slanted on Buddhist view.

By the way, Buddhism is cosmological in nature and when
Gotama Buddha was described by  Ananda as a colossal entity, Buddha in his own unenviable way said that there were many Buddha's before him who were formidable and that comparison should never be made.

Instead his teaching or Dhamma precedes in any future discussion which also would last, only a limited time frame.

I think we have exhausted that time frame already and the World today with impending World War III, is a classic example trying to finish this Civilization in a moment of insanity.

Mind you there were lot of tribal or internecine wars in India when Buddha was spreading his Message of Wisdom.

Buddhist teaching is based on state of flux or constant change in all phenomena Worldly and Mental.

Buddha's focus was internal mental formations and not external.

One has to try by oneself without external inputs.

His last words at death bed was

Vyadhamma Sankaram
Uppamadena Sammpadetam

What it means is all phenomena are constantly changing (instead of wavering the mind on those changing things or Dhammas) but strive to understand his teaching (without wasting time) in this life, not in the next life.

He also indirectly meant the life time currently is limited to 100 to 120 years and there is hardly any time left which is being wasted on mundane stuff.

War is mundane by default.

He did not want to go beyond 80 years, in his mind and if requested he would have lived another 40 years.

Ananda Thera was given the chance to make that request but he could not grasp it, at the moment that offer was made.

This piece is cosmological in nature and about world systems of enormity and constantly changing.

In a nutshell, all advanced civilizations end themselves when they achieve advanced technology, like space travel etc.

They also develop advanced technology to carry forward mutual destruction or MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction).

We have come to that point already and we seem to enjoy that scenario by American and Ukraine standards.

Give me more weapons of destruction
.

I love destruction by all means, is the goal of Zelensky and his cohorts in UK and USA.
They are eager to help MAD.

I am not defending President Putin and I am totally against any form of war (we had internecine war of attrition in Ceylon for 35 years and we are starving now) but stating the fact, that there is a limit one can push him (Putin in this case) and his finger is NOT on the button, at this moment.

A think Poland wants the button to be pressed and directed at them instead of Ukraine.

This is very funny world of politics.

Give him some respite by ejecting this Mad Man or Joker without Z or Elensky.

He is a CIA consort in sleep and in day dreams.

Pentagon not being astute and dragging the decision making process under their feet, at this critical juncture.

Netrunner

 Netrunner

Netrunner Linx has no derivatives but is independent and started its life in January, 2017.

Netrunner is a Debian based distribution featuring a highly customized KDE desktop with extra applications, multimedia codecs, Flash, Java plugins and a unique look and feel

The modifications are designed to enhance the user friendliness of the desktop environment while still preserving the freedom to tweak.

It has moved away from the rigid architecture of the KDE desktop.

Using it was a whole new experience.

Having not used KDE for long time, it was bit of a pain. Nevertheless, I went ahead and installed it in my NUC.

It is certainly, trying to stay away from new Plasma tweaks. However, it had 373 new updates at install time and installing them was pretty slow.

Getting the Standard user installed, instead of the Root was unusually circuitous. Login for a user space was not obvious. I had to click the login icon of the Root to find the user icon to type in a user name.

Additionally, I did not know how to install new applications. When I clicked Updates icon, it opened up a File Manager type of utility, incorporated within the Updates. The Graphical set up for Installation was merged within the Updates which was strange.

It lacked a standard Package Manager or Installer for the limited KDE applications it supported.   I had to look and search for the applications I needed individually. Thankfully, the applications were organized in an alphabetical order. When installing an application, “No Query” for dependencies was requested as in the case of Synaptic Package Manager. It goes on downloading and installing applications “Clicked On” in an ad hoc manner, all at the same time.

Not one application at a time.

This was the reason for inordinate delay in installing required Updates as stated above.

All these  nuances made it a clumsy experience, for an experienced Linux Guy..

Having said that, Netrunner is one of the best KDE Desktops with a modern look.

It gives a pleasing desktop experience.

It supports Synaptic Package Manager and that is an accolade by itself.

What it means is, I can test Gnome applications on top of KDE Desktop. All these days, I have been testing KDE applications on top of Gnome.

I am having the best of both Desktop Worlds in one instance.

Using Synaptic, I installed Variety desktop effects to make the rigid KDE desktop looks dynamic at the user level. I have no hesitation in recommending it to a KDE lover who loves to have a completely new experience.

The right hand side of the desktop looks like the cellphone interface, however without the icons to select. The names of the various applications are arranged in an alphabetical order on the right side of the desktop.

That itself is a beautiful, feature.

I wasn’t satisfied with that and decided to install Gnome on top of the KDE desktop, using Synaptic Package Manager. It went into a frenzy mode not knowing which desktop to choose Gnome or KDE at boot time. I did not bother to check the Debian version and I ultimately ended up installing Debian 11 as the core.

It appears as, the KDE kernel belongs to the older version of Debian 11.

Who says, I do not make mistakes but it was a happy mistake.

I generally have two Debian, Gnome  versions installed in my PC.

The older version and the latest version, just to compare the look and feel of both.I really liked the Debian 11 desktop which was my favorite with tiny dots to click, select and activate, an application.

It is a matter of picking and choosing the current application, I am working on.

With only 320GB space available in the SATA disk, I do not fancy installing Debian 11, in addition. Instead,I have three instances of the latest Debian Installed in my NUC. Each Gnome instances is used for a different purpose. If for some reason, trouble emerges, which never happens, I can fall back to one of the other two instances to get my days work done. When free time is found, I reinstall the Gnome without erasing the  /home partition and all three instances are available for use with the working data intact.

With the new version of Gnome, the KDE version is mounted separately without conflicts but only the “Desktop Look” appear different. By the way, Netrunner was the fourth distribution installed in my NUC.

I begin to like it.

I had problem of installing Abiword on Debian 10.

That problem is negated now since, I can install Abiword using Synaptic Package Manager.

Netrunner even though, KDE based uses Synaptic Package Manager to install new applications.

By shear stroke of luck, when Gnome was activated, I activated the SNAP Software tool along with it and now, all the missing applications are on top of the KDE desktop.

A happy accident.

NetRunner
Net-Runner-2 is an excellent distribution for a newbie (to Linux).

Even though it is in the middle weight category (MB) it has everything one needs if one is connected to the internet.

It is a mix of KDE 4 and Gnome without the groggy grossness (Graphic intensity) of Suse and Mandriva on the graphic (face) front.

They have done a good job of integrating and mixing (it is neither tea nor coffee) the two.

K3b is a value added introduction.

Software management is good and in the tradition of Redhat have placed the packages in categories to select.

Only missing package for me was Skype to download.

I hope they will add it next time around.

Another value added contribution is Gambase (for newbies to do visual basic like programming).
NetRunner is something one should have in one's wallet.

Change over rather the mixture (cocktail) may have teething problem but surely nothing the Linux developers cannot address.

Well done boys and girls.

Last Chapter in Singalo-Vada Sutta

Last Chapter in Singalo-Vada Sutta

This is last chapter Singalo-Vada Sutta in old English.

I was looking for Singalo Vada Sutta in English for ages but could not find.

I was convinced Buddha did not go into our life beyond 8 precepts.

I was wrong.

A comprehensive guide of 14 acts.

I list them without any order.

1. Partiality hit me first.

Do not follow judgement on your fellow beings specially your spouse.

2. Control your anger

(I was a guy with short burst on daily basis).

3. Do not lie.

4. Do not steal.

5. Do not be a fool.

6. Do not try to be a professional.

 (It invariably applies to me).

Last two I forgot.

Re-referred the text

7. Fear

8. Impurity of what?

Note there is no reference to alcohol at all.

That was revealing.

Having a tot on the sly is it allowed?

The last SIX (6) was the most important.

Do not associate with bad friends.

1 Number one is, do not associate with an alcoholic friend in the bar.

Unfortunately, I did not read this before finishing my book on Charms of Alcohol.

Poverty

Strife or conflict

Disease

Loss of character

Shame

Impaired senses or faculties

Public display of one's personality (good in my vase) and bad in All Ceylonese including Wira Wansa with Racial rhetoric.

Of course Pu....ke, Vasudeva included.

What Buddha says is associating with these guys leads to financial meltdown.

I immediately gave a call to one of my class mates who had lot of bad friends and was really an alcoholic.

Strangely he was in  Temple and I told him to Teach the Young, the Singalo Vada and practice it yourself.

2. Number two dicing or gambling.

3. Idling and sleeping and getting up late and loitering with your friends in the night with shadowy beings.

4. Becoming a libertarian including 'woke' culture guys.

5. Going to films, theater, dancing and singing with your buddies.

6. Associating with outlaws cheats, swindlers, rouges, that include some Prime Ministers and Presidents like Zelensky in Ukraine.

So in actual fact Buddha had American Neo-colonials in mind 2500 years ago.

Facts, Files and You Tube Fiction

Facts, Files and You Tube Fiction

YouTube is a commercial Institute own by Google.

Its intention is to incarcerate the user without the knowledge of the user.
If one enters it one cannot escape the permanent encapsulation.
Besides, one has to pay for it.

Google is the Ultimate Winner.

It has captured the imagination of the user and the visitor.

A Dead Trap.

I saw this problem early with Twitter (now X) and Facebook.

Decided never to post a YouTube display even on Linux.

I do not foresee an alternative platform emerging.

A monopoly by all standards.

I was one who encouraged the Internet as an Educational Platform, long before YouTube.
It is less educational, now.

Most of what is the Internet is not factual but fiction.

I would give one example.

There are lot of YouTube presentations on Alien Crafts and Alien Beings.

This originated from Carl Sagan and his compatriots.
The ball was set in motion by Frank Drake by his probable equation, the Drake Equation.

Possibility of life on our Galaxy is more than 1.

Carl Sagan made his contribution by stating that any biological civilization brings an inevitable destruction of it at a particular technological developmental stage.

Nuclear catastrophe is his contribution.

We are on the verge of it knowingly or Unknowingly.

One should take into account the lost civilizations on this planet.

I have a big grudge with most of the archeologists.
They try to interpret the lost civilizations in a narrow framework of time

Like the Drake Equation we need to create a plausible equation for the lost civilizations that have not left documented evidence like the Sumerian artifacts

This all depends on how long a viable civilization lasts on this planet.

It is not worth postulating on a far distant Galaxy.

It is far more realistic to ponder about our plight.

In reality, that may bring the insight of Carl Sagan to the current civilization.

Looking for  aliens as envisaged by Dr. Steven Greer is a big fallacy.

If they are already with us like Reptilians it is a different matter altogether.

There is another possibility.

Biological civilization towards the end of its life time would create an AI technology to avoid this scenario

The problem with AI technology is, it automatically surpasses the biological potential and overtake the biological evolution, which is very slow to evolve.

Technology creating more refined technology is immense.
This is why I am against AI.

AI does not have a mind but Memory.

In my estimate potential of Mind is almost limitlessness, only if we can harvest it for the benefit of mankind but not for its own destruction.

Basic Problem is power is concentrated around destructive men and not around the constructive men.

Sorry for the realistic diversion from the title of this topic.

Facts
Humans by nature do not like precision or concise facts.

Like in political thinking, humans need glossy or deliberately expanded facts.
In other words more and  more facts that take away the very precision man needs.

Files or Documentation.
This is why I am interested in preserving the current languages of 2000, left

Already 500 or more lost.

That is why I proposed a NUC Type of computer called Globe Trotter (this in in my book Linux Essentials) to save those languages both grammatically and verbally.
Recording them is even better.

What one need is network of 2000 computer linked to a server to record each language.

In case we destroy ourselves a future emerging civilization or alien visitors may find the records informative.

Google's Job is to translate them into the user domain.

That is why I believe in writing in digital form (print firm cannot last) rather than presenting them in limited visual YouTube format which lasts a limited period of time as long as the YouTube creator lives.

However it is visually appealing.

Mind and it's repertoire is my domain.

I have already published them at Amazon.

In addition my contributions are Fact Files without FAT and Fact Files with FAT.

Thun Man Handiya or Three Way Junction

Thun Man Handiya or Three Way Junction

This was a dream.

I felt sleepy while downloading the Open BSD Installer Utility for my laptop.

This dream is current, relevant and ambiguous in context.

Ceylon network or the Telecom is SO slow, I fall sleepy and won’t wake up even when my Linux box gives a tinkle once a file is downloaded.

I am getting fed up of Linux since guys and girls are scared of Microsoft cronies and won’t vilify (becomes an impotent Willy) the UEFI boot distribution (it is not a boot loader).

Whereas BSD and OPEN-BSD erases it in a flash.

The story revolves round a wheeler dealer politician (was called 10% and now 100%), current D.H.S (the post not the person) and our poor Punchi-Sincho.

They were asked to go to a hermit sitting at high bench created by Bodu Bala Sena converts at a three way junction or Thun Man Handiya, under a young Kaputu (planted by craven dropping) Bo (pipal tree).

The whispering was that one gets what one wishes and only the first three will be offered the raffle tickets.

All of them have to wash their hands from a heavenly borne automated detergent dispenser (more expensive than the local Lifebouy make).

The tickets were named expressed Currier delivery, standard postal and slow delivery system akin to Rs.5000/= dish outs by Samurdi Niladharies.

Of course the politician demanded the express delivery.

By virtue of his high post the D.H.S. got the standard delivery ticket.

The Punch-Sincho got the left over ticket by default of the other two, which was the slowest.

Mind you the hermit was an ex-traffic warden run over by a politico.

All three thought that they were eligible for air tickets to heaven.

The hermit job was to direct them to the appropriate self serving dispenser routing them to the correct path or the roadway.

He was not supposed to tell where they lead up to.

1. The fastest one was to the coronavirus cemetery.
I wish all our politicians end up there.

2. The standard one was to Seychelles.
I wish all our public servants who sleep after mid day meal at the desk be sent there as supervisors!

3. The third one was to heaven but with a caveat.

He had some option to delay his entry to heaven if he has some outstanding dues in his homeland.

Punch Sincho thought to himself and realized that there going to be elections (he was a betting addict), round the corner and would have one more betting opportunity before entry to heaven.

This he told the hermit and the hermit warned that it would be a dicey choice and the coronavirus would be with us for eternity.

Hurry up or lose the heavenly aboard.

Just like me Punchi Sincho decided not to wait for a vote to elect undesirables to the hell or the wheeler dealer legislature of Ceylon.

Come to think about it our D.H.S should have gone to Seychelles and attended to (delegating the post to the new army guy) the 35 odd guys and saved Ceylon from another pocket of risky spread of the virus.

They pay you in dollars which has simply gone up by rocket science trend due to fast printing of currencies by the new head banker with poor credentials.

Truth Hunters and New Year Message

Truth Hunters and New Year Message

I was off the web for quite a long time, simply because all the web browsers except few developed by Linux community are snooping on you even when you are dead.

I thought they were doing that when you fall asleep in front of your TV or Computer.

They save all the information surreptitiously obtained in a server farm for futuristic use and very soon the Artificial Intelligence will take hold of them and send you a drone load with explosive material.

I think this happened in Iran and the end result was downing of a civilian plane.
This will be a huge impact on Amazon deliveries.

Now I fear boarding a plane managed by autopilot badly configured by Boeing.

I do not think even the Linux community can develop fail safe utilities.

They use Linux in space station to save money for NASA and the civilian airlines are slow to embrace Linux.

Near at home I went for Pizza treat (Thaipongol Holiday) and the guy at the counter could not place an order for nearly half an hour.

He had a problem with his computer and he was engrossed with troubleshooting the Microsoft utility in his terminal, ignoring the customers.

The manager came in but he was not of any help to manage the password crisis.

I politely told the guy hang the computer but go to the kitchen and get my order, instead (he abruptly obliged, surely won’t happen in a government institution, like water board, electricity board or Telecom).

Once I got the order in my hand I told the manger, it is high time you use SAMBA bind (back end) for the network and use Microsoft as front end (user).

Incidentally, our land phone was out (I take it as a blessing and no annoying gossip calls) for three days.

Thankfully Dialog line was on and I did not miss the CNN and BBC.

I do not listen to CNN and BBC after Ukraine war started.

Mind you I do not watch any of the local TVs polluted with political messages, in between programs.

Now to Truth Hunters
1. Microsoft is on top of my list as Big Liars, stating that its software are robust.
They never will be and that is why they are using Linux in their Clouds.

2. Facebook is the next American Liar that they do not share Private Information with the government
Now they have a scapegoat- security reasons for divulging information but they cannot prevent terrorist attacks.
I believe now terrorists use hand to hand information not cellphones until such time human beings become honest with themselves and to their fellow beings.

3. Twitter is the third in the line of liars and President Trump and Nancy Pellosi are on top of it.

4. To me the biggest liars are the religious priests (from Vatican to Khomeini in Iran) including Buddhist Political guys in Ceylon and Myanmar.

All religions promise something on next life and for me this life with a quick Pizza is all I need!

5. I have not found a politician who does not lie from Tony Blair (Iraq War) to Maraya of Ceylon.

There are no Devas (Angels) to protect us from drones!

I think we must build bunkers or underground dwellings.

That is my new year message.

Gnoppix 24.1.15 Guys Got It Wrong

Gnoppix 24.1.15, Guys Got It Wrong

I am sorry to say, that Gnoppix guys got it wrong.
I am finishing my book on "Linux Essentials"  and I cannot enter any entry on this distribution, leave alone some comments.
Problem I see, is like Ubuntu it is trying to go commercial.

1. Who would try the commercial components if it's basic ISO cannot boot on a USB?

2. Second it tries to entice the Windows crowd, looking at it file system.
It looks like it gives priority to win 32.

3. Linux boots with a hierarchical (Father -Son relationship) file system not with Win-32.

4. It is bulky with 5.3GB.

5. It try to boot 64bit machines, too.

6. Even, old Knoppix 9.1 cannot boot  my NUC with graphic integrated system.

7. It ties many other commercial architectures and probably fail on those machines, too.

The Discourse On Loving Kindness

 Monday, April 15, 2013

Well, I had done a verse in 2013

The Discourse On Loving Kindness

He who is skilled in doing good

And who wishes to attain that state of calm (Nibbana) should act thus

He should be able, upright, perfectly upright

Obedient, gentle and humble

Contented, easily supportable (not a burden to others)

With few duties, simple in livelihood

Controlled in senses, discreet, not impudent

Not greedily attached to families

He should not commit any slight wrong

So that other wise men might deplore

May all beings be happy and safe

May their hearts be happy

Whatsoever living beings that exist

Weak, or strong, without exception

Long, stout or medium

Short, small or large

Those seen (visible) or unseen (not visible)

And those dwelling far (Aliens included) or near

Those who are born and those who are to be born

May all beings, without exception, be happy minded

Let no one deceive another

Nor despise anyone anywhere

In anger or ill will

Let them not wish each other harm

Just as a mother would guard her only child

At the risk of her own life

Even so towards all beings

Let him cultivate boundless mind

Let thoughts of boundless love pervade the whole world

Above, below and across

Without any obstruction

Without any hatred, without any enmity

Whether he stands, walks, sits

Or lies down, as long as he is awake

He should develop this mindfulness

This they say is the Highest conduct here

Not falling into (wrong) views

Virtuous and endowed with vision (insight)

He discards attachment to sensuous desires

Truly, he does not come again; to be conceived in a womb

By the firm determination of this truth may I ever be well

By the firm determination of this truth may I be free from illness

By the firm determination of this truth may peaceful victory be mine!

Dasa Sila (The Ten Precepts)

 Dasa Sila (The Ten Precepts)
 (1) the training rule of abstaining from taking life.

(2) the training rule of abstaining from taking what is not given.

(3) the training rule of abstaining from sexual misconduct.

(4) the training rule of abstaining from false speech

(5) the training rule of abstaining from fermented and distilled intoxicants which are the basis for heedlessness.

These five precepts are the minimal ethical code binding on the Buddhist laity

They are administered regularly by the monks to the lay disciples at almost every service and ceremony, following immediately upon the giving of the three refuges. They are also undertaken afresh each day by earnest lay Buddhists as part of their daily recitation.

6) Vikalabhojana veramani sikkhapadam samadiyami, "I undertake the training rule to abstain from eating beyond the time limit," i.e., from mid-day to the following dawn.

(7) Nacca gita vadita visukhadassana-mala gandha vilepana dharanamandana vibhusanatthana veramani sikkhapadam samamadiyami, "I undertake the training rule to abstain from dancing, singing, instrumental music, unsuitable shows, and from wearing garlands, using scents, and beautifying the body with cosmetics."

(8) Uccasayana mahasayana veramani sikkhapadam samadiyami, "I undertake the training rule to abstain from high and luxurious beds and seats."

There are two ways in which these precepts are observed — permanently and temporarily
Permanent observance, far the less common of the two, is undertaken generally by older people who, having completed their family duties, wish to deepen their spiritual development by devoting the later years of their life to intensified spiritual practice. Even then it is not very widespread

Temporary observance is usually undertaken by lay people either on Uposatha days or on occasions of a meditation retreat. Uposatha days are the new moon and full moon days of the lunar month, which are set aside for special religious observances, a custom absorbed into Buddhism from ancient Indian custom going back even into the pre-Buddhistic period of Indian history. On these days lay people in Buddhist countries often take the eight precepts, especially when they go to spend the Uposatha at a temple or monastery. On these occasions the undertaking of the eight precepts lasts for a day and a night. Then, secondly, on occasions of retreat lay people take the eight precepts for the duration of their retreat, which might last anywhere from several days to several months.

How Church and Media Operate and Control

I as Medical Man make very simple observations.
For example people are made to believe that we need to drink ample amount of water.
Our body is 98% water but it is not pure water. It has mixture of soluble salts, Sodium, Potassium and chloride. Life began in salt water and we have not lost that connection after millions of years of existence.
Animals tend to protect water and the kidney is the major organ that does it.
Rats in the desert have kidneys which can protect them from dehydration.
Pure water is absorbed only in the rectum.
Oesphagus cannot absorb water. It has a squamous epithelium which repel water.
We cannot live 3 days without water.
Both water intoxication and water deficit are fatal.
Cholera can kill us in 8 hours and the replacement is not water but an electrolyte solution that has sodium, potassium and chloride in correct proportions.
Saline infusion stabilize the circulation and blood pressure but best way to rehydrate is oral electrolyte solution.
American soldiers in Vietnam War survived on coconut water that has the proper electrolyte balance albeit an excess of potassium. Potassium excess can kill.

Other factor we need in our survival is oxygen. It is used in oxidative phosphorylation pathway of our energy metabolism.
At Himalayas and in deep water we cannot survive except for a few minutes without pressurized suits.
We are one gravity people and nothing more or nothing less.
Emerging from under water or from zero gravity in space we need gradual compression and decompression to maintain our blood oxygen (in equilibrium or homeostasis).

Any extreme of pressure, temperature and poor hydration can kill us in a few minutes.
Lot of astronauts (both Russian and American) have died in space unknown to us during test flights.

This is after many years of training.

We have to penetrate Van Allan Radiation belt on our way to the moon. How our astronauts penetrated this Killer Zone is a mystery.

We did not have powerful rockets in mid 1960s. Presdent Kennedy had pay by his own life, asking scientists to do the unthinkable in that era. They were more interested in developing weapons of mass destruction.

Instead of looking for stars in the Apollo photographs ask the above physiological questions and obtain proper answers.

Why America could not reproduce the technology they produced in 1960 and 1970?
How did they lose them?

Like the High Priests in the Church lying about mythological gods scientists also can lie and bully us for their own survival and monetary gains.
That is the truth and irony.
