British Distorted the History of Ceylon
Yes, British distorted our history, to their advantage.
They were here for over 150 years and that period was enough to plant a bogus history including Buddha was born in India.
What is more true is Indian invaders (I do not know whether Soli, Pandyan or Tamil but the last were the Tamils), tried to capture Ceylon for an extensive period of over 800 to 1200 years.
But they could not.
It was not continuous domination but there were breaks in their domination and the chain of command.
Those breaks were never recorded by the Invaders.
There was a long period of famine going up to 11 years recorded in our history.
It is called Baminitiya Saya.
Baminitiya or Indian Abhayagiri Clan was born in this period.
All the local literature was torched.
Pahian's famous Alu Len has recored this events of torching.
Like what British planted Abayagiri Clan planted another bogus history.
Mahanama and Buddhagosha did plant their own hearsay story.
Mahanama had to flee due to internal conflict before finishing his book.
It is good literature book but not an accurate history.
Gaps were filled with what we YARNS during our campus days.
YARNS in time become recorded history.
Mahayanaya cannot be taken as an accurate account by any means.
To me history is filled bull shit most of the time.
Thank god I was not a historian but I have the right to be critical of all writers present and past including Eisenstein.
Accordingly, my writings are open to criticism at all times.
It is another RANT but it keeps me occupied in my retirement but those writings outlasts me. That is why I say everybody should write at least one book in their lifetime. The collection of those books become the Contemporary History.
One book does not become a REAL History but only an approximation.
Internecine wars (prehistoric man) of Sura and Asura were perennial and there were at least 4 prehistoric Tribes (Yaksha, Deva, Naga and Manussa).
The Yaskha or the RAVANA were the predominant. They were the dominant but there would have been numerous minor regions (assuming Ceylon was a much bigger and part of it sank).
With difficult terrain and no proper roads but only footpaths, breaking into minor regions was plausible and real.
Simple truth is the imported Indian soldiers got integrated with the locals and they also become very corrupted with no control from Indian Kings, of India.
Then there were large scale burning of local literature belonging to the tradition of Buddhism and Buddha.
If Buddha was born in Ceylon that 800 to 1200 year period was enough to plant a Hindu Culture here with Hindu Gods.
By the way, if one follows genetic analysis retrospectively, one ends up in 3000 years in China and there is no way to go back from that point to Africa in genetics.
Falls into what is called general dispersion and no scientific trend afterward.
Using that analysis one cannot conclude that humans originated from the Chinese, however, much the Chinese would love to hear that.
There are limitation to every type of analysis.
Similarly we cannot say prehistoric man did not exist due to lack of bony evince. Bone calcium also can become elements given time.
Uncertainty principle in action.
What is amazing is Buddhism survived all these onslaughts and the cooked up story that Buddhism was brought in here by Mahinda from India had to be planted here for the survival of the diminishing numbers of Indian Invaders.
This I call the ruling class.
My stance here is defending Dhamma if not Buddhism.
What Buddha taught had universal claim and is global.
I won't call it an absolute truth but more realistic than any other religion on this planet.
It is based on "Uncertainty Principle" .
There is book coming by me soon by the name of "Uncertainty Principle".
It is somewhat similar to the Scientific Principle of Physics, the "Change of State" aptly demonstrated by the "Water Cycle".
My analogy, that the same rain drops that fall on my head in this moment would go and come back and fall on my head again is statistically improbable but plausible given that time is a linear concept but time in physics is again a concept and not a real entity which we can put in a Test Tube and analyze. Our Galaxy moves in a spiral fashion. To explain its behavior, two time dimensions, at least in 90 degree angle is necessary. One dimension expands and the other contracts. Linear physics does not apply to that phenomenon. Besides, there is something called dark force and dark matter which is 95% of the total quantity which we cannot comprehend. My belief is that phenomenon determines the 5% of the physical matter we inhabit. One cannot apply human mathematics to explain those incomprehensible phenomena. We live in 3 dimensions and we cannot comprehend 4th dimension and beyond.
I think this is why Buddha never ventured to explain life beyond (external phenomena) our own life. I now do not talk in terms of what I call the "New Physics". It is only a futile exercise and has no relevance for my own existence.
But I do entertain Linux in my own "Computer World" not Microsoft Windows.
The problem is, that the average man cannot grasp the Reality of Uncertainty, and a permanent Soul is created after death.
There is no permanent "Soul" in Buddhism but the Concept recurring Rebirth.
The Concept Rebirth is cardinal to the understanding of Dhamma and Uncertainty Principle.
Energy cannot be destroyed and the Mind Energy cannot be destroyed, but only the Greats like Buddhas and Arhants have achieved that state of "Unborn State".
