I have many books published at Amazons.
I wish to be anonymous in my blog pieces. 

Only my friends know who this guy is.

My interest are many but I have spent lot of time on Mind related to Dhamma (Buddhism).

Only the speculative facts I post here but not in my books.

I have high regard for the readers of my books.

Here, I  wish to make a few comments about higher achievements of mind.

I consider mind as a form of energy.

It has an intrinsic tendency to be tagged to the brain.

The highest devas (Arala Kalama, Uddhakarama and the likes) also are bound to subtle mind form and are not delivered from bandage or emancipated.

But I believe mind can exist on its own.

Buddha who attained Nirvana and all those Arhath, after passing away, enter into subtle energy wave form that cannot be detected, for example by EEG wave.

The reason being, there is no Form or Bhava in this state of existence of mind.

So Nirvana is not Null and Void but its existence is subtle and not perceptible to human mind.

But Sovan, Sakuradagami and Anagami have subtle body forms until they reach the state of Arhath state.

The above is my attempt to explain and should not be taken as sacrosanct.

I have a simple classification of various levels of mental states.

1. Sleep is essential for living beings, a minimum of 8 to 9 hours for adults.

Children need more.

2. Normal Wakeful state.

3. Euphoria
 

That is after, consumption of alcohol at level 2 intoxication.

Alcohol has 6 levels of effects.
1 is no effect.
6 is death.

Level 2 is Euphoria.

4. Ecstasy
This state is induced by drugs
LSD is the first to be discovered.
All pain killing substances have this side effect especially morphine.

I have never tried them. 

They are classified as Level 1 addictive drugs.

Even Voltaren had this effect on me.
 

I took them to relieve a severe renal colic.

One of my batch mates was given morphine after appendectomy and he was demanding a second dose. 

We sat with him but did not give him a second injection.

Addiction is the next stage which is irreversible.

5. Esotericism

 
Magic mushroom or Ayahuasca induces this state.

Out of the world experience, alien visitation and spiritualism are a few of its manifestations.

This delusional state is dangerous to the individual (if not to his peers who do not consume this stuff).

This is similar to Near Death Syndrome where individuals who has come back from death become unusually spiritual moral beings and god abiding.

There is a dangerous precedence that guys with underlying psychiatric problems consume them in desperation.

By the way, some psychiatrists themselves become addicted to these drugs to prevent suicidal tendencies.

Psychiatrist are known to commit suicide.

Paediatricians come second in the list and radiologist the least.

Pathologists are above radiologists by statistical analysis.

Sumerians are an example known to use mood elevating drugs. 

 

Sumerian history is about 8000 years old.

My bone of contention is even prehistoric man, 13,000 years ago was addicted to mushroom like substances.

I think Cardinals in the Vatican are known to use these substances.
 

The priests tell us NOT to take them but they have secret ceremonies where they indulge in ecstasy.

6. Trance States
 

There are 4 Trance States.
These guys are born after death in 4 realms.
They consider themselves as heavenly aboard and live a long life.

At the end they are reborn again in animal and even lower realms, having expended their credit merits.

So never think of going there.

To me simple human domain is good enough.

Please note, I have not gone beyond Euphoria (simple wine) and all the other levels are speculative but I have delved into Pali Dictionary for reference.

My current hypothesis is that almost all religions have arisen after indulgence in these Mood Altering Drugs.

The other rival theory is that having seen REAL alien visitations the visitors were elevated to Godly realm.

Hindu Vimana story is a good example of possible alien visitation.

Not one type but several types of conflicting aliens.
 

The Hindu Gods probably reflect various aliens who may have visited earth on their galactic expeditions.

Russian cosmologist have postulated 7 seven probable civilizations.

Unfortunately human records are sketchy.

Assuming Roswell Incident is true, the CIA attempt to keep it under classified information is  a case in point.

But my understanding of "Alien Saga" is that Americans wanted to hide the development of Stealth Aircraft from the Russians.

This experimental aircraft was projected as an alien craft.

We are well into the World War III and Rockets and Robots are the next level of Warfare Industry.

AI will soon take over the mankind and it will be the 6th extinction.

This piece is bizarre and has no earthly bound limitations.

In fact, beyond the limitation of physics.

This discussion is not limited by space and gravity.

This is to bring out the concept of Rebirth in relative and comparative terms.

Kamma is its associate, the other side of the coin.

There is a Mongolian belief that dogs have many lives beyond one single life. 

They also carry forward memories of their past lives and are born again as dogs.

There is a good film “Purpose of Dogs”.

I disagree here and my "born/bone of contest" is that, most dogs are born as celestial beings (Buddhist terminology of Godly beings) or gods. 

They easily bypass the mundane human life having lived with them long enough to understand how nasty a human being can be. 

 

Trump, Biden, Putin and Zelensky and their followers are good examples that dogs have studied, on their own ways.

Killing opposing beings and War is their way of life.

Eating flesh of any kind are their liberal form of life.

They have their own form of gods and sects and the priests walk with the soldiers to kill the fellow humans. 

 

The Pope in his part keeps numb about War crimes of Israelite. 

 

Quote some disagreement in textural scripts of Vatican to purist theologies of other sects.

Mongolians follow a form of Buddhism that gives credence to rebirth and meditation. 

It is bit different from Tibetan Buddhism in which the term reincarnation has a special meaning and they all try to become Buddhas. It is bit far fetched and farcical attempt. 

Really, antagonistic to simple Buddhism where Kamma and Rebirth explains the outcomes. 

The goal  of "casting away" of rebirth can be done by less vigorous means.

Becoming an Arhanth is the goal not another or somebody like Buddha (PaseBuddha).

Rebirth cannot be proved but it cannot be denied.

That is my premise here.

There is a Western myth that Buddhism is a philosophy. 

I would dispense the philosophical connotation outright, to begin with.

In the East, no philosophy has any roots simply because of Hindu belief in creator gods of many kinds. 

Buddhism is not a religion, in the sense of the Western and Middle Eastern beliefs where by following the Gospel of a mythical god one can redeem oneself and achieve salvation in, a single life form.

Eternal damnation to hell is unethical on human terms.

Buddhism is a way of life but that way of life is little bit difficult and advanced.

One reaps the benefit of Good and Bad Kamma. 

How it turns out one cannot predict in advance. 

 

Recurrence of Karma Pala and Rebirth are automatic.

It is like a wheel roiling down or rolling upwards with effort.

Action and reaction.

Equal and opposite reaction in physics.

One cannot escape and the rounds of births are there eternally to salvage good and bad without counsel of gods or elders supervising the outcome.

Buddhism starts with not killing any life including animal life.

It has four simple rules.

Indulgence in alcohol is not in that four and I believe it was added much later into the system.

The Arhants have only 10 very simple precepts.

Eating one main meal a day is one of them.

Vegetarianism is a simple byproduct.

I need to make some reference to Harry Potter series of films to begin with. 

The films are Creative and Imaginative but not Inspiring. However, killing the opposing guys are encouraged and it is not good for minds of children.

Children should learn to live with rest of fellow beings.

I never read any of these fictional books being a man of science.

Being an old time paediatrician that ended up as a gaeriatrician in later life, bringing fear and phobias to kids' mind is no good at all. 

Some bordering paranoia and may cause depression in them. 

 

I strongly oppose killing opposing imaginative creatures and witches.

I do not want to be born like any of those imaginative beings.

Sometime, I think the authors of these type of  books, in their previous life form were born as a demons to relive them in this life.

I do not mind Harry Potter author, living with these miseries in this life but exposing them to young kids is pathological.

I have no objection adults reading them and becoming killers themselves in War of attrition.

Coming back to Title of this piece;

We are one gravity beings with somewhat limited capacity. 

We cannot live on the moon with less gravity than on the earth. 

We cannot live on Mars with more than the gravity of earth, without life support.

No gravity is anathema to all human physiology.

I see that, it is difficult to land on Mars. But forming colonies there is a another kettle of fish.

We need to design new form of transport which probably alien beings possess.

Aliens are no Gods but some type of advanced humanoids.

Their space vehicles are most likely driven by radiation obtained from elements above 112. 

Elements above 110 are possible in some galaxies.

Now coming to Mind itself.

I have two books on mind one simple and one advanced at Amazon Book Store.

What follows here is a brief resume!

1. Mind is the best vehicle to travel the Universe.

2. Mind is a mystery.

3. With some meditation techniques one can achieve momentary state of  escape from the brain.

However, the mind's attachment to brain is very strong and this escape mode is an illusion.

This is one reason out of many, I oppose many forms of meditation.

Live this life in wakeful state.

Be mindful of every moment of life.

Be happy (Somanassa Chitta).

4. According to Buddhism there are 31 types of celestial beings who live in almost eternal bliss.

5. They have achieved them through vigorous form of meditation and become strongly bonded to these live forms and they believe that these state/s is/are eternal.
It is a form of delusion worse than living on psychoactive drugs. 

Psychoactive drugs have a limited time span unlike living as a high celestial being.

6. All are temporary states of bliss.

7. That brings us to the "Uncertainty Principle".

8. That is the entry point to Dhamma.

I leave it at that point.

"Somanassa Chitta' without attachment is the base to real bliss.

Why Many Celebrity die very young?

I have never associated with any celebrity all my life.

So what follows is only a theory.

 

Coming from a Buddhist background where any form of bloated image is despised with and the Image or Self is called an illusion of grandiosity.

 

This is the most important lesson, I learned having studied Dhamma as an adult.

Even, Dhamma I studied with scientific scrutiny. 

Once I got the basics understood, I did not go any deeper.

 

Of course, I delved into Abhidhamma but later settled down with Dhammapada. 

There is copy of it for easy access for reference.

 

Unfortunately, for some of my queries, there aren't answers there.

Some of my question are outside Dhamma realm, not necessarily of scientific notions.

Why do we have a big brain?

Where is the our memory resident? 

Why do some die young?

Why one becomes demented?

Why do some children (?gifted) can speak several languages early in life without prior knowledge?

There is a language center in brain but no center for religion. Why?

Coming back to celebrity;

I have no attachment to any celebrity all my life.

I appreciate their achievements.

The problem is one cannot maintain this status at peak level for a considerable length  time.

It invariably dips.

 

1. When the status dips they go for strong mood enhancing drugs.

That is the beginning of their end.

These mood enhancing drugs alters the Endogenous Enkephalins metabolism, the brain or the Central Nervous System produces. 

They are also called endogenous opioids.

 

What is interesting is the guys who meditate also get these High States and become addicted.

This is why I shun meditation as an adult.

I prefer to be alert and awake, just to prevent dementia taking over my mental capacity.

I am currently doing a book on sleep, dreams and biorhythms and have done a bit of research on the endorphins.

2. Another problem with them is they are fabulously rich.

They do not have financial know how to manage this extra cash. 

They need financiers and investors.

3. Then come the financiers and bogus well wishers.

They are the one who in subtle ways destroy the celebrity.

One simple reason. 

When the guy dies young these guys inherit the fortune.

The are very greedy.

 

I am not saying all the lawyers and financiers are greedy but majority are by nature of their profession.

My advice is one should dispose of the extra cash long before dementia sets in and settle down to base level of income.

Two options.

1. Go to an old care center early.

2. Build a family level safe zone.

I wanted to write this peace when my favorite actor died under mysterious circumstances but I had to delay my response.

 

Gene Hackman
The actor who recently died under mysterious circumstances is Gene Hackman, along with his wife, Betsy Arakawa. Their deaths in their Santa Fe home are currently under investigation due to the "suspicious" nature of the scene and circumstances. 

Authorities have requested carbon monoxide and toxicology tests, but a cause of death is yet to be determined.

While the specific details of the circumstances are still under investigation, some reports suggest that Hackman's wife, Betsy Arakawa, may have died before him. Autopsies revealed she succumbed to hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, a rare disease linked to rodent exposure, while Hackman suffered from hypertensive cardiovascular disease complicated by Alzheimer's. 

However, the "suspicious" nature of the scene, with the couple found in separate rooms and the presence of other dogs, has prompted further investigation.

Two incidents of my own worth recording.

My lawyer died early due to a preventable condition. 

I met him right in front of the Dental Hospital.

Incidentally, his problem was dental.

I said come in, I would do the needful.

He politely said NO and went to the general hospital. 

I just forgot about him and when I inquired a few weeks later from his brother, he said he passed away. 

I did not go into details but certainly a medical misadventure.

What the big idea of a postmortem examination?

Nobody can bring him back to life.

Second incident was in New Zealand.

Two brothers well past 70 years used to visit their mother daily in the hospital geriatric unit.

She was over nineties.

She was chair ridden and demented.

But her heart was strong.

I used to see her once a week.

Thankfully, I was not in charge of the unit but I was in charge of the entire hospital when on duty.

She never recognize me.

Suffice is to say, I attended to a simple and a surgical need and she passed away peacefully.

It was a big relief for the two sons.

I did not see them again.

This hospital was completely reorganized after I left New Zealand and it is now managed by a single GP and three surgeons. 

 

All other facilities including Emergency Care and Coronary Care were dismantled.

Yes, I did cover for Three Residents and I simply enjoyed the work.

I was bit of a talk of the town.

It was a small community and I gather that majority have moved away.

Situated on a earthquake fault.

 

I could not sleep for 6 weeks after a 7.2 Richter Scale shake. 

I left immediately afterwards.

Nobody went away without full medical care.

1. Giant Ovarian Cyst in a lady which was passed as constipation by the GP.

2. Giant Cannon Ball tumour missed by the three surgeons.

3. Baby with a double dislocated hip joints.

4. Postural Pneumonia (saline in the lung) due a Saline a continuous drip.

5. Weekly Dislocated hip surgeries.

6. Duodenal Ulcers perforated, 11 hour surgery.

7. I missed a case of massive perianal abscess on a young homosexual. 

Did not look at his back. 

He came with referred hip pain, mind you three times and discharged after several hip X Rays.

8. Rare case of Haemophilia in a kid. 

9. Rounding up of a gang of drug peddlers. 

Police took them in five minutes.

10. Woman frozen on a chair.

11. Broken back of a Bungee Jumper Woman.

12. Many types of traumatic injuries except a dislocated knee joint.

Lot of knee injuries but never a dislocation.

13. Imported case of malaria from Malaysia.

I took a challenge that I would prove a case of malaria in New Zealand.

I won.

to my luck an Asian guy came with hepatosplenomegaly.

I asked from where?

Malaysia.

I told the Chief technician, this is malaria and make several films and I want to have a look.

14. Reprimanded Malingerer guy looking for ACC Free dole.

15. Many Epilepsy cases but no leukaemia cases.

16. Duodenal Ulcer guy asphyxiated on his own blood.

17. Case of Cardiac Tamponade following open heart surgery.

This was diagnosed by the Westport GP and the Cardiac Registrar (I think Queensland Hospital) did not agree.

We emptied two litre of fluid stabilized him and sent him back to the cardiology unit.

18. Saved the Orthopaedic Consultant (very nasty South African Asian guy) with a massive coronary episode.

Airlifted him to Australia for the bypass.

19. Airlifting Emergency cases to Christchurch on two seater planes. 

I loved this part of the job.

I get a half a day off in Christchurch.

20. Many Episiotomy repairs but never a single Cut-down.

I would put an arterial catheter instead of a Cut-down.

21. I was itching to prove a case of Rheumatic Fever. I saw a child under 5 with over 80mm ESR. It turned out to be Haemophilus influenza.

22. Many kids with streptococcal Scarlet Fever but never a Rheumatic Fever.

23. Saved the guy with Cardiac Tamponade.

The total duration was 2 years exact.

The worst Immigration Officers of the entire world are in New Zealand.

One retires at 50 in New Zealand.

Absurd.

I returned home and worked until 66 years of age. 

Last 9 months was a bonus I earned.

65 is the age of retirement in CEYLON Universities.

 

I could have gone on until 70.

I wish I could kick the bucket by 80 before dementia sets in.

I am working on a book on Dementia on Dogs.

American dog.

Russian dog 

Ceylonese paraya (stray) dog are involved in this fictional story.

 

Ceylonese dog is involved in preventing the Nuclear Holocaust.

By the way, alcohol is involved in both Euphoria and Severe Dementia.

Events of this moment of 17 thought moments.

Moment Meditation is to be focused in these 17 thought moments .

According to Reverend Narada Thera at death or on "Gati Nimitta" one has less thought moments ( ? ? 15) perhaps two thought moments less; i.e. two thought moments that grasp to the decaying body one is leaving, to grasp another living body which would reconstitute the 17 thought moments again.

Self awareness and orientation are the most important assets in Dhamma.

In Meditation, the 1st Jhana State takes away the sensory awareness temporarily.

It is addictive and is a hindrance to Insight, Reality and (True) Wisdom.

Dementia 

All of the above features are not accessible to the person.

Person lives in total confusion and does not know who he or she is.

Alcohol 

Alcohol takes the sensation of orientation away from us.

Euphoria on one end.

Dementia on the other end.

DMT

Dimethyl Tryptamine 

Causes disorientation 

Psychedelic compound found in some mushrooms.

Hallucinogen

Astral or Heavenly feelings

Very Dangerous Substance

Endorphins 

Endogenous endorphins and oxytocin regulate our night and day cycle.

 

We are one gravity and 24/7 beings.

 

Outside this planet we are completely disoriented.

I do not wish to be floating in space inside a spacesuit without gravity.

First thing we lose in space is our orientation.

It is worse than taking DMT.

Only fools want to explore out of the body experience or NDE.

NDE is actually a state of hallucination.

Features of NDE depends on the belief of the subject.

Lucid Interval 

In Buddhism there is a belief that at the moment of death, temporary state of lucidity ensues for even a guy or girl in coma.

It is prudent to "Let Go" off the guys or girls who are kept alive on ventilators but brain dead with the permission of the next of kins.

 

One sees the flash of next life or "Gati Nimitta" at the time of death.

 

One who sees a lower realm of next life hangs on to the ventilator, until all his resources in this life are exhausted. 

It is a frightening experience.

I have never seen a guy or girl (except severely demented) exit with a smile.

Having said that I am totally against doping a guy on a ventilator.

Pain killers are OK.

 

It is the onus of the doctor to make the dying guy or girl is humanely comfortable.

This doping I think hinders the Last moment of "Let Go" response.

 

Drugs cause Confusion in addition to Sedation.

 

Lucid mind at the exit point is the "Dhamma Goal".

 

The concept of Rebirth, at least in my opinion, takes the FEAR factor away at the time of exit. 

It is soothing to the one who exits.

DemoLinux – one of the first Live CD Linux distributions, and was created to make it possible to use Linux without having to install it on the hard disk. It is the first Linux Live CD making possible to use the system in graphic mode and without any stage of configuration.

Version 1 was based on Mandrake Linux (now Mandriva Linux), versions 2 and 3 used a mechanism independent of the distribution and were distributed mainly on a Debian basis.

Version 3.0 now introduces the Xvesa X server, replacing the framebuffer used before, which depended on VESA 2.0 cards. We now handle PCI sound cards, Lucent winmodems, Reiserfs version 3.5.x, certain USB peripherals and several other 2.2.18 kernel devices. As for version 2.0, DemoLinux 3 heavily uses a transparent compression schema that allows to sotre over a gigabyte of applications, including GNOME and KDE and the StarOffice office suite.

To try out DemoLinux, you need a PC equipped with a CD-ROM and at least 32 Mb of RAM for simple graphics interfaces, 64 for advanced graphics interfaces, 128 to use StarOffice.

DemoLinux project was composed of 3 people, all based at the Paris VII University of Paris: Vincent Balat, Roberto Di Cosmo and Jean-Vincent Loddo.

The project was under development between 2000 and 2002.

Dynabolic and Knoppix DVD
 
Dynabolic has revitalized itself and come up with its 3.0.0. beta version.
It has almost everything what I want except installation.
It is at beta stage and that may be the reason it has not yet included the install script which I am eagerly waiting.
It is a DVD just over 2GB and packed everything apart from Music and DVD stuff.
It has Scribus, Blender and Inkscape.
It has Orcas too.
What more one needs.

I have not given my score but it will top 2000 and possibly 2500, if they include the install script when ready.
I do not discuss two distribution in the same blog page but today I am going to do that to save time.
 

I should say few words about Knoppix 6.7.1 DVD.
It is excellent and now can be used for 64 bit computers, too.
If you type adriane at boot time everything is in audio mode for visually handicapped and this must be the first time somebody who is blind has given a chance and full control of using a computer including going to the web.
 

Mindfully it has put installation as the last option.
This is something Linux community can do to a blind but computer literate guy or girl to be independent.

 

Blind people love music and Knoppix and Dynabloic, if they join hand will be coming out with an easy winner.
I must tell you once booted using Orcas has some glitches which needed to be sorted out soon.
Dynabolic is also of the same class for me as Knoppix.
Talking about both in the same line of thinking, I think is not inappropriate, when I come to think about it.
 

We will join hand with you a better product comes out of Unity in Diversity.

dyne:bolic – a live Linux distribution based on Ubuntu and targeted to media activists, artists and creators. It is able to recognize automatically most of devices and peripherals such as: sound, video, TV, network cards, firewire, USB devices, etc.

The live system contains a large set of applications which allow manipulation and broadcast of both sound and video with tools to record, edit, encode, and stream.

dyne:bolic is intended to be used as Live CD/DVD and it does not require installation to a hard drive. It is designed to work with old and slow computers, and its kernel is optimized for low latency and for performance.

dyne:bolix 1.x and 2.x was developed independently, and used Window Maker and Xfce desktops. The first version was released in March 2005.
The last version of dyne:bolic 3.0 was based on Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala, used Linux kernel 3.0, Gnome 2 as its default desktop environment, Debian-Live scripts, and was released in September 2011.

The founder and and maintainer is Denis Roio.

Dream Studio – an Ubuntu based, Linux distribution which contains a large set of tools to create graphics, videos, music and websites.

The Live system includes applications such as:
– Ardour – a digital audio workstation
– Audacity – an audio editor
– Blender – a 3D graphics creator and editor
– Bonobo – a DVD-Video authoring software
– Cinelerra – a non-linear video editor
– CinePaint – a tool for motion picture frame-by-frame retouching

Dreamlinux – Brazilian, live Linux distribution features customized Xfce desktop.
Xfce – the default desktop environment has been customized to make the look quite similar to the look of MAC OS X user interface.

Starting from version 3.1, Dreamlinux was based on Debian and had two desktops available from the one live media: Xfce and GNOME 2.
Dreamlinux 3.5 has been released as two separated versions with Xfce and GNOME.
The last released version is 5.0 and is available with Xfce desktop.

Dreamlinux 5.0 offers installer called FlexiBoot which allows users to install Dreamlinux in USB external hard drive, or install it to the internal hard drive.

Dreamlinux has pre-installed application called MKDistro which allows users to build their own customized Dreamlinux and Debian-based distribution.

As of October 2012, the Dreamlinux project has been finished.

Debris Linux (previously: BeaFanatIX, BFX – a minimalist Linux distribution based on Ubuntu with GNOME as a default desktop. The ISO image file is about 200 MB in size and works as a Live CD, with a hard drive installation option.

After the missing of Steven Watsky (maker of BeatrIX) the community fell apart. Stephan Emmerich wanted to continue the project, but since this was no longer possible with BeatrIX, he decided to make a new distro, based on BeatrIX, called BeaFanatIX. This was later renamed to Debris Linux.

Debris offers GNOME and Openbox, a lightweight session powered only by the Openbox window manager or a traditional session with GNOME and Metacity.

Damn Small Linux Not – a Live CD Linux distribution based on the Knoppix. It takes less than 50 MB and is optimized for the i386 platform. The window manager in this distribution is both JWM and Fluxbox. This distribution is no longer being developed.

The distribution uses its own MyDSL package manager and the .dsl, .uci and .unc formats, which include, among others, OpenOffice.org, GIMP, Skype or Opera. After installation on the hard drive, it is possible to unlock the apt manager and use Debian-specific .deb packages.

This Damn Small Linux Not (DSL-N) is a version of DSL, which had more requirements and took up more space. It has not reached full stability – the last version is signed with the number 0.1RC4 and is no longer developed.

DSL-N is not an evolution of DSL, it is not intended as progress over the philosophy of DSL, but is intended for a different user, or the same user under different circumstances.

Damn Small Linux (DSL) – a small, business card size computer operating system based on Knoppix. It was designed to run graphical environment and applications on old PC machines with 486 Pentium processors and very little memory.

DSL was originally created and maintained by John Andrews. For five years the community included Robert Shingledecker who created the MyDSL system, DSL Control Panel and other features. After that, Robert quit the project and continues his work on Tiny Core Linux which he created in April 2008.

Beside its small size, DSL features complete desktop and a set of applications for any purpose, such as:
– Mulitmedia: XMMS
– Net: AxyFTP client, Dillo, Netrik and Firefox web browsers, Naim client of AIM, ICQ, IRC, SSH/SCP server and client, DHCP client, PPP, PPPoE, a web server,
– Office: Siag spreadsheet, Sylpheed email, spellcheck, Ted word-processor, text editors: Beaver, Vim, and Nano, Xpdf, calculator

The last stable version of DSL 4.4.10 was released in 2008.
After 3 years of stagnation, new, testing versions 4.11 rc1 and rc2 showed up as the last ones.

After next 12 years of break, in February 1, 2024 a new, antiX based version of DSL 2024 Alpha was released.

DebianDog – a very small Debian Live CD shaped to look and act like Puppy Linux. Debian structure and Debian behaviour are untouched and Debian documentation is 100% valid for DebianDog. You have access to all debian repositories using apt-get or synaptic.

The Devuan/Debian/Ubuntu-based Dogs do however also come in several flavours being specially crafted from official Debian or Ubuntu official distributions; nowadays using official debootstrap script and then modified in-house by current maintainer(s).

BusterDog, based on the Debian ‘Buster’ branch but without systemd.
It’s using special method (taken from AntiX) to avoid systemd by replacing systemd with ‘elogind’.

FossaDog is a fork of “DebianDog” with the difference that it’s Ubuntu based.
TrinityDog is a fork of “DebianDog” with a basic Trinity Desktop Environment.

Greenie Linux – a modification of Ubuntu Linux distribution with the KDE desktop. It is developed under the GNU GPL license, available free of charge in Slovak, Czech, English and Polish localizations. Greenie was created as an operating system intended for everyday use and focused on needs of books readers and authors.

Greenie Linux is released as an ISO image and installation packages for Ubuntu.

Older versions were available in several variants:
– Galadriel – CD version that allows you to build a system from scratch, designed for advanced users. Work on it is currently suspended.
– Gerfi (Gerfihellania) – CD version containing Gnome and Openbox, localization of Slovak and Czech languages. Gerfihellania is the major version of Greenie Linux.
– GOS (GreenieOS) – DVD version, with additional software including Gnome, Fluxbox and Openbox.

The numeric name is followed by the Ubuntu distribution code on which Greenie Linux is based.

The first version of Greenie Linux was released on October 5, 2007 and was based on Ubuntu Feisty Fawn.

Starting from Greenie Linux 18.04 is only available for 64 bit machines.

GNUSTEP Live CD – a live CD based on an operating system, (also known as a distribution) contains a lot of software for GNUstep, a free implementation of the OPENSTEP and Cocoa framework (which was also the base as Cocoa on macOS). It includes an excellent application called Gorm for RAD (Apple Software Design Guidelines).

GNUSTEP Live CD is a Debian-based Linux distribution that comes with the WindowMaker window manager, basic networking, multimedia, and games tools.

GNUSTEP live CD 2.5 was released after 8 years off and is based on Debian of teh stable 9 “Stretch” branch.
Previous versions of the system were based on the Morphix and Knoppix distributions.

Live image comes with preinstalled applications such as: Gorm for RAD (Apple Software Design Guidelines), MPlayer (GNUstep port), Preview, GWorkspace, GNUmail, ProjectCenter, and GNU TeXmacs.

The system used SysV instead of systemd as the system and service manager.

The project developer since 2004 is Alex Myczko.
