SwiftLinux-Full-Edition-Linux Extras-14

Comment to a Comment

I agree with almost everything what you say.
But my concern is can Swift Linux take the advantage of the niche (evolutionary term) and the void Microsoft has left for us the Linux community exploit?

Answer is Big Yes.

But we must have a global view.

My approach is having three sizes (even Puppy Legacy 2 has realized this).

1. Very Light (like Peppermint)-below 500MiB

2. Middle Weight (PCLinux is currently number 7 in Distrowatch neck and neck wit Puppy).-1 to 1.4 GiB

3. Gorilla (PCLinuxFullMonty)- 3 GiB and above

I want you to succeed in a business environment and LibreOffice is vital for day to day work.
I use Abiword for its simplicity but many prefer  big chunk of office as a utility.

Please do not be restricted by 700 MiB CD.

DVDs are damn cheap even in Sri-Lanka.
Mini Pocket DVD (1.4 GiB) is affordable.
I appreciate your hard work.
Sky is the limit for you.
Good Luck and try torrent too.

Good news is iso files are available for download at SourceForge.
The link is given when one visit the home page of Swift Linux.

I managed to download the Swift Linux regular last night and it boots well and can be installed. I have both Mepis and AntiX (this is pretty good for old computers) with me and except for the fact that it has taken some weight out of Antix it cannot outsmart Antix.
Regards to old computers it does boot with my old IBM Think Pad computer but not with IBM Net Vista which I have installed Mepis for my downloads.
It looks like it has missed some hardware modules when downsizing.
One cannot downsize hardware configuration if one is promoting Swift Linux for old computers.
Bottom line is I will not install it but keep it for testing purposes.

There are over 100 very good light weight distribution including Puppy and Peppermint and it is left to you to decide which one you want to use.

Choice is yours. Visit my Linux 100 for details.

It looks like the home site of the Swift Linux has been attacked few days after this comment and I could not download a single file (Image).
This is why I stated that one should host images with linuxtracker as torrent file or ones own site as torrrents.
Even Linux tracker was attacked in this modern digital age one is not careful.
They said they are rising from the ashes of phoenix and and they surely did.
One mad digital guy / girl with corporate backing can do enormous damage while most of the average guys and girls do wonderful things with digital (code and programming) fingers and code soup.

I once thought writing and blogging on Live CD and Linux are a waste of time but now I realize what a load of image building I have done for them without even knowing any one of them.
Keep up the good work.

This world has lot of good guys and only a few bad and ugly guys (mean both sex).

I am a fan of Mepis and AntiX.

AntiX is lighter weight version of Mepis with lot of packages and works with low RAM for old computers.
I have been looking for weird form of Linux derivatives and came across Swift linux some time ago.
After about 40 tries (download stream abruptly stops without completing) I mange to get diet Linux and Taylor Swift with  music at start up.

This was 0.0.3 version and I gave up because it was only live and no install.

I could get the other images and then suddenly another version came.
The 0.0.3 but could not  download with similar failure as above.
However my interest did waxed and waned but when I saw Distrowatch including it as a viable option I decided to get the latest version.

It was not there in Distrowatch or Softpedia and typed home of Swift Linux.
Presto1
Big jump the version is 0.1.1 and currently attempting to download.
there vision and goal are both honourable.
When Microsoft leave you high and dry, one need not throw the computer away or buy new one.
Swift will take over swiftly the vacuum left.
they have included Open Office which I have begun to hate now.
Hope they will include LibreOffice in future issues.
Please go and visit their site and I wish them good luck and hope they will leave the image at linuxtracker to prevent my agony of downloading.

I will come back with a honest report if I am successful downloading it.
