I got to know little about private Bus Mafia with a single incident.
Once my favorite bus drivers was absent for a prolonged period of time.
I did some research work and found that he was down with a minor stroke.
I can remember, he asking me a few questions and I told him, the moment, if he has new changes in his physical makeup (refrain from driving- his symptoms, I won't quote here, since some guys and girls who read this make their own diagnoses), he should stop driving and go for a proper assessment.
This is called T.I.A.
I prescribed him daily low dose aspirin, which he probably did not take.
I blasted him for not following my instructions, to get the message through.
I got him admitted to a hospital and he had a reasonable recovery and after long stay home, came back to work.
He had many economic liabilities.
This is not me, as a medical guy but as a responsible citizen, helping fellow citizens.
The bus owners are in the Bus Mafia from Senior Premadasa, time.
They treat conductors the worse and drivers little less worse.
That is the reason for the state of public and private bus service in Ceylon.
That Mana Wadu guy I mentioned elsewhere was given a card of aspirin by me.
He did not take but died prematurely.
Read that piece here it is a long one one Economics and Uncertainty Principle.
